As the smoke cleared, Starmie could be seen still standing, while it did take the attack, it managed to cut down the damage significantly, how do you ask? "Reflect Type." Misty smirked, her Starmie now had a silver sheen to it, its type now Steel and Psychic, having copied Phemes's.

Phenes would crash to the ice sending shards flying into the air around the Starmie. Returning his resident Steel type to her Pokeball, Reno toss out the next contender. A loud snip would echo out before a massive claw would come flying at the Starmie with a white glow around it. Hook had come out of his hiatus in style with Crabhammer leading the charge in the final push against Misty.

Hook would take the bolt with a steely grin before ripping up some of the ground, dousing it in water and tossing it into the air. The Mud Sport would help keep any other Electric attacks this Pokemon might use. Having prepared himself this time, Hook would hear Reno tapping with his foot, knowing what this pattern meant. Opening his massive claw wide, he would charge forward again from the close range, aiming to use Guillotine and cleave the Starmie to unconsciousness.

Starmie would quickly Rapid Spin backwards, kicking up chunks of ice as it did, having enough time to get away from the Guillotine, as the Kingler took its time using Mud Sport. "Now you see it, now you don't!" Misty laughed as her Starmie seemed to disappear completely, what trickery was this?

Reno would watch the Starmie disappear before he would realize what this kind of devilry was. "'Ook, use Metal Claw on the ice. Send it flying around and try ta make sure nothing is missed." Reno would point to the ice, watching as Hook would cleave into it with his claws before tossing it in random directions, coating the floors in ice chunks except for two small points and a small area behind them. Hook would grab another clump of earth before swiftly tossing the blob of mud at the location, still prepared for attacks from other locations.

Hook would look to the ground before seeing the barrage of stars projectiles flying through the water in his direction. Spinning around on the ice and sliding around, the projectiles would mostly miss, with a few of them hitting the flailing legs of the unskilled ice movements of Hook. Finally finding footing, Hook would glare into the water, the Leer hopefully helping Hook's case for when the Starmie rose above water.

The Leer would provoke the Starmie into shooting up out of the water, much to Misty's dismay. However, the Starmie continued to attack, spinning around rapidly in mid air, releasing a torrential barrage of Swift, it was like a meteor shower in the gym.

Hook would look at the stream of star-shaped projectiles, a plan formulating between the Pokemon and Reno. Giving a smirk, Reno would shout out the order the two had come to. "'Ook, use Bubblebeam." Reno shouted, knowing the Crab Pokemon would know what to do. Hook responded by firing the concentrated beam of bubbles right at the mass of Swift, the projectiles clashing and preferably canceling each other out.

Deciding the flying shuriken of a Pokemon would meet a strong resistance, Reno gave a single, solitary tap with his foot. Hook drew his massive claw back and slammedit forward, the pincer stretched wide before snapping down, the Guillotine attack hopefully smashing the approaching Starmie.

And down went Starmie, its crystal core cracked by the Kingler as it went limp in its claw, subcumbing to the Guillotine. Misty knew she and her starfish were defeated, their gym toppled by the challenger, reluctantly she recalled her faithful Water Pokemon and hung her head in shame. For several seconds she just stood there, wallowing in her shame, defeated. However, the gym leader would soon pick her head back up and glare at Reno, marching around the pool as she approached him, a look of apparent anger in her eyes. The girl would get uncomfortably close to Reno, her breath grazing his check. The silence was broken as the female trainer spoke.

"That was a great battle! You are really good! Here, this is for you, to symbol of your conquest of the Tomboyish Mermaid and her gym." Misty said as she held out a blue teardrop shaped badge for Reno to take, her attitude contradicting her earlier body language, as she now seemed much more cheerful. "It's the Cascade Badge, you earned it!"

Reno was prepared for the beating of a lifetime from the anger filled eyes that Misty was glaring at him with her stomping steps towards him. Hearing the sudden shift to happiness and kindness, Reno almost fell onto his back in shock at the moment. Finally grabbing the badge, he'd tell her, "Thanks fer the battle. You were a great opponent."
