Name: K'mar Age: 34 Sex: Male Sexual Orientation: Bisexual Weyr: Western Rider Rank: Wingrider (Flame's Fury) Previous Rank/Craft: Mercenary Voice: [ X ] - Searching for a voice Song: Searching for a song Physical Description: K'mar is a sturdy man, broad shouldered and barrel chested. He's the kind of guy you'd take one look at and go 'yeah, he could crush my head between his legs if he wanted to'. His build is that of a power lifter, not defined and rippling with a six pack but firm, solid, and definitely not something you want to run into. Standing at an even six feet he's not the tallest guy out there but he still stands out in a crowd. His light brown hair is kept cropped close to his head and he keeps his face clean-shaven. The less hair he has the less opponents have to hold on to, after all. His eyes are a warm chocolate brown and his fair skin is littered with scars from his previous battles. His normal attire includes flight clothes with light leather armor over-top for protection at a moment's notice. He's less likely to wear it around the Weyr but when on jobs he's definitely ready for battle with his sword and shield at his side and his helmet pulled down over his face.
Personality: K'mar is your fairly standard mercenary. He's big, he's brave, and he likes to fight. You can find him swinging away with a sword and a smile on his face with blood stains on his tunic and not a care in the world. He is happiest when he's on an adventure and exploring new places or jumping into a brawl. He'll take any job as long as it pays well and you can bet he'll see it done or die trying. He takes his reputation seriously and doesn't want to let his clients or himself and his dragon down by failing at a task. Thankfully most of the missions he accepts are easily done with a massive dragon at his side, so his track record thus far is sparkly clean and that's the way he likes it.
When not on a job, K'mar can be found practicing his technique both on Vith's back and on foot. As much as he knows his companion will always be there with him, he realizes that sometimes he'll be somewhere that Vith can't fit and he'll have to take care of himself. He doesn't want to bring his beloved dragon any fear so he ensures he can take care of himself if need be.
K'mar is easily bored with repetition and things he considers 'dull'. Every day needs to be something new and exciting or he'll become so bored he'll end up making his own fun which usually isn't the best for those around him. Picking fights, stirring up trouble, and dashing off into danger are his favorite pass times when the jobs are slow to come in, leaving Vith to chase after him to keep him from getting into too much trouble.
Positive: Adventurous, Loyal, Hard-working, Determined. Negative: Rambunctious, Foolhardy, Easily distracted.
History: Kaltomar was born at Western Weyr to a family of healers. Although his family tried to teach him their trade, Kaltomar was better at being the practice dummy rather than the one doing the practicing. He was always getting into trouble in one way or another and generally ended up battered and bruised from his adventures. Once it became apparent that he had no interest in healing, he turned his sights to the one thing he loved most: dragons.
Kaltomar eagerly took his place as a Candidate once he turned 14 turns and, although he fooled around and became familiar with the Candidatemaster's various punishments for his shortcomings, he managed to Impress after only two turns of Standing. Vith found him immediately after hatching and he informed his new rider that he had known exactly who was his during the Touching. Never in the brown's short life had he thought he'd find his so soon, but it was obvious the rambunctious boy would need someone to watch after him.
Together Vith and K'mar trained and grew. Although K'mar was interested in learning how to work with Vith to become an inseparable team, it was apparent that he still wasn't completely content with life. He'd still get in trouble during his classes and it was eventually Vith who suggested a different path. Once they were officially finished with learning everything the Weyrlingmaster had to teach them, Vith and K'mar set out to see the world.
At first they had fun adventures together on their own, doing odd jobs here and there to make a little bit of money. It wasn't until K'mar realized just how much demand there was for a dragon to do some rather interesting requests that he began to make a little business out of it. After a few years of living the life of a hired hand, K'mar began to take jobs that he preferred over others rather than anything that would come their way. The jobs he enjoyed most were ones involving a bit of danger and adventure and normally came with the request of taking something back that was stolen, defending a ship from potential threats, and scaring off would-be assassins or thieves from smaller holds. They began to build a bit of a reputation as the big guy with the little brown who would do anything for a decent bit of money and K'mar soon found himself with enough money to keep him and Vith content.
That's when the Thread returned.
He was far offshore when it fell but Vith's reaction was so intense K'mar knew they had to return. They blinked Between and returned to Western to offer their services, which were accepted in a heartbeat. Vith carried supplies to and from various parts of the Weyr while K'mar joined in on ground patrol, searching for and flaming any Thread that managed to get through the Wings high above. It was chaotic and terrifying but in the end they were both glad they had come to help.
In the aftermath the two met up with old friends, had a little reunion with K'mar's family, and continued assisting the Weyr in any way that they could. Although the life they led was exciting and free this was their home and to see it and those within suffering in any way didn't sit well with either of them. After a long discussion K'mar and Vith decided to stay in the area in case more Thread returned. K'mar will occasionally wish to travel again, to battle and plunder and find new work, but the worry of leaving his home behind to potentially suffer another Fall stops him every time. That and Vith is very adamant about staying - if it Fell once, it will surely Fall again. Other: Ages up OOCly on April 5th.
