Solameya | She/Her | HRW
When the word of stirring eggs on the Sands went up, Solameya had bolted upright in bed. Her internal clock was still reading High Reaches time, but the announcement sent a jolt of energy through her. Of course, time would tell if it'd last the entirety of the Hatching. It took her no time to dress, with sandals, and make her way to find a spot on the Sands, greeting the watching parents as she entered before finding a place amongst the girls.
There were a few eggs shifting, moving. Of course, dragonets wait for no man, and certainly no one was left waiting for long. Brown Paw Print egg hatched a red eyed green. She had places to be! Green Olive egg then shuddered and split open, revealing not one but two little Queens. Huh! This being only her second hatching, she briefly pondered how often twins occurred. There had been a pair in the first clutch she stood for. The green didn't seem so keen on her metallic sisters, perhaps upset at sharing the proverbial stage, and set to spilling a couple more siblings from their eggs onto the warm sand. A tiny little green from Daisy, and, what!, a set of twins from the Gay Flag egg, a green and blue! The newest arrivals either seemed startled or weren't quite ready yet, but their fussing eldest sibling had sort of decided for them. The queens divided to tend to their siblings, one to check and one to confront Brown Paw Print green.
Then there was fighting. Outright brawling! Solameya crossed her arms to occupy her hands, and glanced about at the candidates nearest her, glanced at the various babies on the move, including the newly hatched Funfetti blue. The fight broke up, or at least was paused and the two queens comforted one another. And WHAT?! Another set of twins from the Ace Flag egg, a brown and a bronze. Huh! Sleep was the furthest thing from her mind. There was so much to keep an eye on, to be aware of.

Funfetti remained poised, watching his sisters with intense fascination. Their fight did cause some yellows to creep into his eyes, particularly when Brown Paw Print was forced down, but for the most part, they remained green with hints of blue.
Not too far away, Mint Chocolate Chip began to shimmy again, slooooowly wiggling in a zig zag pattern… for about two inches. Gosh, it wasn’t going to get far that way! It stopped shimmying, and instead appeared to vibrate as the infant inside tried to push its way out instead. With a sudden crunch, the shell gave way and a few toes popped out, just for a moment, before being yanked back in surprise. Hmm… had it been green, or blue?

Brown Paw Print had had enough! With her sister's attention wandering, the green fought against her will with all of her tiny might. No! She would not be treated this way! And what was Funfetti doing just watching her.
SISTER! HELP ME! she cried... reaching out to the Blue and Purple Paint egg. Immediately, the egg trembled, rocking fight to fall over. A large crack appeared, before, hissing and spitting, a green dragonet spilled out onto the Sands and came roaring up to the pair of queens who were holding her sister hostage!
Letting out a fierce (for an infant) battle cry, Blue and Purple Paint green threw herself into the fray! Who did they think they were? Did they think they could just overpower everyone?
With a squeak of startlement, the pair of queens turned back to the suddenly renewed fight - and Brown Paw Print was at last released! Drawing herself up to her full, diminutive height, she hissed with deep dislike at the pair of queens.
Evidently, Green Olive gold had had quite enough of all of this, and finally acted. Tossing a wing out, she interposed herself between her fierce sisters and her already aggrieved twin. You go too far.
But neither green appeared to care, for they certainly did not stop.

Haizea | She/Her | Western
The wee hour wake up didn't bother Haizea. Quite an event to get to, the arrival of new dragonets! Of course, there was a degree of grogginess but the teen made sure to do everything she needed to. Being pretty short, she opted for standing more towards the front of the fanned out candidates, so to better see, to react if need be. There was so much happening so soon! Three sets of twins, a brawling green and gold, so much activity. Her eyes danced from dragonet to dragonet, from stirring eggs to still unmoving ones. Mint Chocolate Chip was moving and shaking. You got this, little one!
Oh! The eldest green called for backup and another green erupted forth and engaged with the Green Olive golds. Whoa!

Taibbi The dark-haired girl watched as more dragonets moved to join the fray, and wondered how they could be so angry and bloodthirsty before they Impressed, and then settle down to a life of pacifism (except for Thread) after Impression. And she wondered why they were so angry anyway, not having been privy to any of their telepathic communications. She just really, really hoped neither of the golds were hurt. Nor the greens, obviously, but the golds...
Taibbi would not have expected that she would be so enamored of golds when she was Searched. Just the mere fact a dragon had found her worthy of being Searched had left her thunderstruck for a while. Then had come her first hatching, and she had gotten to really see how stunning that metallic hide was, and she had begun to nurse - secretly - a desire to Impress a gold dragon. Not that she thought that likely. She didn't actually think too much of her chances of Impressing any dragon, come right down to it. But her adolescent heart yearned.
If only this giant ahead of her would move so she could see better! She moved to one side and ahead so that she could get a better view of the eggs, the hatchlings, and the rest of the sands, thinking that tall people should be made to stand in the back.

What...
had....
WHAT?
Nor the greens, obviously, but the golds...
Brown Paw Print wheeled, turning squarely to face Taibbi, her eyes fully red. What had that girl just thought??? Was this what they were supposed to expect, coming into this world? WAS THIS WHAT THEY COULD LOOK FORWARD TO???
Drawing herself up with all of the dignity of a queen, for she was a queen, in her own way, the green marched across the Sands directly to Taibbi, shouldering the tall Candidate in front aside...
And hissing in the girl's face. With one quick movement, she swatted her hard. And then turned tail and returned right back to the showdown. What a rude child!

FISHER
Maybe Fisher was sort of chanting fight fight fight in the dark backs of her heart, if only because she enjoyed bar brawls and other forms of actions. She didn't really appreciate how full of hate it was though, the redness in their eyes and the need for blood; brawls were meant to be a way of expressing yourself and afterward there would be sweaty hugging and all other things. In this case, did the babies only think they could stop if someone else stopped moving?? That wasn't so much a brawl as a slaughter, and Fisher idly wondered if an adult would step in before that point.
After all, weren't these babies supposed to be starving and desperate for their riders? She was pretty sure T'nus and F'dral had drilled that into her head over and over the past few months, so uh. What gave? At least the softer green who'd been so scared was away from the hubbub - involving those in fights who didn't want to be a part of it was a major no no. That of course also included any of them going after a candidate, who weren't allowed to fight back. It was like bringing a handful of knives against someone who had just a bare hand.
Shards, she was feeling fighty. Was it the overall mood on the sands, or was Fisher just feeling it? Maybe it was - oh no, one of the dragonets mad for a candidate. The blonde turned to look and see who it was - shard it, she knew Taibbi - and frowned. At least it seemed to be a warning blow?

Karunia - 20, she/her
“Ehhhhh.” She wiggled her hand. “You read your history, you learn this sorta stuff used to be normal. More babies in eggs means more ready for Thread means getting ready for the worst later.” It was this grim edge to an otherwise happy occasion, which Karunia’d rather not worry about.
Babies! Feisty babies! A drama playing out right before them like a production! She even gave a clap when Blue and Purple Paint came out to defend her sister.
“Yeah, guess those work too,” she chirped, eyes still on the clutch. “Oh, Mint’s making their way out! C’mon now! The goldies you liked are waiting.”
- - - Dhawsn - 29, he/him
“I know, sweet pea, I know.” Dhawsn pat her back, brows knitted. He was saved from thinking up a good response when Brown Paw Print called for help and got an answer, and he relaxed a little. “Look, we got a lil’ hero,” he pointed out encouragingly. “Ain’ so bad, yeah?”
Spoken too soon.
