Ichta would have loved to have argued that she and Aurinkoth could stand a little bit more time in the air before it was time to switch off Waves....but apparently she'd taken a bit more scoring than she'd expected and instead she sat quietly, waiting for the healers to finish up their task.

Ichta leaned into Aurinkoth's side, taking comfort from her blue as they continued to be patched up. We live another day, my sweet, Ichta told him privately, feeling bad that it came at the cost of at least one life and that most of it had been spent with them on the ground being patched up.

Aurinkoth huffed a small laugh. You called it Karma earlier for missing your inspection. Just means we'll do better next time, right? he said, before turning whirling eyes up towards the skies. Mine remains safe, if it brings Yours any comfort. he reached out to Elzebuth.

It was good to look over Brieteth and see it was mostly surface damage - stuff that would heal. "Alright, buddy. Time to go back up," E'mel soothed, leaning his cheek against Brieteth's for a moment longer before climbing back up into his straps.

Ingonth was restless from the moment he landed, and that certainly didn't let up as they were tended to. T'rin tried to make small talk as they were patched up and numbweed was applied, but their healer was both quiet and grumpy, and eventually he quieted and allowed the woman to work.

Return Request Denied! Regain +5 HP but re-roll from the Healers Grid! You still haven't been given clearance to return!

The moment they appeared Mi'ra hopped off Remi and let the dragonhealers do their work. He plopped down on the ground and tugged off his goggles and helmet, taking deep breaths to catch his breath. Remi's pain was overwhelming but he had to stay somewhat strong to keep the little white calm. His wings were trembling as the healers worked to get every bit of Thread off him, slathering him in numbweed to try to help the pain.

It took a while to ensure no Thread had buried into Reminiscorth, but after a thorough look-over the healers cleared him to go. Mi'ra returned to Remi's side, hugging the lithe dragon around his neck to soothe him.

"Don't worry, Remi," he said, his voice a bit weak from the fear of losing his dragon. "You're all set now. You ready to get back up there? They really need us now that Thella and Lireloth have gone."

Remi didn't speak, but he nodded in agreement. A moment later and Mi'ra climbed up onto the white's back, gave his neck a rub, and off they went once more.

Burning Aces Wing
Ly’bur of Brown Hinburath
HP: 19/34
Status Effect: Fatigue Effect x1
XP:
Target Accuracy: 10
Flame Length: 10
General Stamina: 10
General Agility: 8
Between Accuracy: 10
Pain Resilience: 7 (+1)
Instinct: 10
Luck: 8
Training at HRW for past 2 Turns (+6 xp to all), +5 to distribute

They appeared above the bowl and Hinburath settled down with a groan. He hurt, but it could certainly be worst. Ly'bur slid off and pointed out the hurts to the attending healer. Unfortunately the news wasn't good. The dragon's wounds were much more severe than he'd originally thought! The rider stepped out of the way to let the healers do their job.

Hour 1; Round 2 Rolls
1. 3- As you fight against a strong gust of wind, you feel something pull! Uh-oh. There's a pain in your wing muscle that hadn't been there before. This isn't good, especially this high up! Still, your dragon fights on. If this is the third time you roll this and you haven't returned to the Weyr for attention your wings cramp up, and you find yourself going down! The wind is just too much, and the pain too great. You pushed yourself too hard, and now you're really in trouble! Post this! (second time)
2. 15- Your dragon is blown completely out of formation, and is too tired to stop it. Fellow wingriders notice, and trumpet warning, but your dragon is just too tired to care. The wind is too much! Moderate Damage -5HP Your dragon also now suffers Fatigue Effect For the next 3 rolled turns your dragon will suffer from Fatigue Effect. Any XP earned during those turns is negated. On the plus side, any negative status effect (i.e. additional Fatigue Effect, Guilt, Bitten Tongue, etc.) is also negated, since your dragon is too tired to care. The only exception is if you get a status that cures Fatigue or your Wingleader/Wingsecond rolls a status cancelling roll.)
3. 1. The healer rushes over, but the extent of the injury is worse than originally thought. In fact, it's going to take quite a bit of work until your dragon (and you) are back up to health. Return Request Denied! You don't regain any HP! Re-roll from the Healer's Grid! You still haven't been given clearance to return!

The initial assessment turned out false though! In short order Hinburath found himself patched up and feeling much better. Let's get back to our wing! He was raring to go. Ly'bur was happy to accommodate his dragon. Well done. Let's go! He mounted up quickly and the brown took to the skies.

Green Samodith - Burning Aces (Grounded)

Samodith considered Bhavaranth's question and the hope in it, letting herself savor that someone might want her company, and out of more than just duty. He had been an earnest suitor when last she'd flown, and she had not forgotten, though since she had been grounded again, thoughts of Flights were uncomfortable at best. She had already started to take on the softest of glows before she'd been hurt, but her injury and the subsequent infection had robbed her of that and turned her gray. Though her color was now less sickly, it would be some time before she had her due. Not that she ever would, not really.

She had worried about leading Bhavaranth on when he had given chase, about the possibility of breaking his hearts - a consideration that would barely have entered her mind a Turn ago - and it was likely something she should continue to keep in mind. And yet, she did desperately crave affection, however rare it was that she could truly return it. But she was, at hearts, a selfish creature. No, Bhavaranth, I would not mind, she decided. And if Bajeth still came over as well, that was fine too. Why should she not have such attention? Even if it wasn't exactly what she desired, it was better than nothing. I would be pleased to have your company.

Shards shards shards! Banashe came out thinking. Her eyes quickly looking for an empty pool. Dunking herself in the water was the only way to save her. Severith streaked down as fast as he could and pulled up nearby an empty barrel. Banashe flung her ruined gear off and jumped in, going up to her neck. Healers quickly covered the brown in redwort and numbweed on his scores.

She waited until she felt no more movement and then climbed out. The pair would now bear matching score scars. Banashe let the healers work on her own wounds. They were quick thankfully and it wasn't long before the pair was ready to return. She with new riding gear and him with new leathers. By the egg I just repaired those, she thought sadly before dropping the ruined straps. Perhaps they could be remade for a smaller dragon.

Hour 1; Round 2 Rolls
1. 8- You take a direct hit from Thread! The question is, where!? Roll a D4
4. Thread hits your leg and side, as well as your dragon's back and shoulders. Though you immediately jump between, some of the Thread is partially protected by your riding gear. As you return from its cold, and continue on the fight, it takes a moment to realize the wriggling Thread has eaten through your clothes, and is starting to burrow into you!!! GET BACK BETWEEN AND BACK TO THE WEYR TO BE DUNKED! Major Damage: -12 HP Your next post must be with the healers so you can get dunked into the pools, in hopes of drowning the borrowing Thread. Death is also an option.

Nyaranau of Gold Mictecath

They made swift time in their return to the bowl, though as one their hearts beat heavy and fast, fuelled by adrenaline and anxiety. Mictecath said very little, the red in her eyes turning to yellow and grey. Nya clenched and unclenched her fists rhythmically, hoping, wishing, chanting silly mantras under her breath…

When they landed, Mictecath rumbled low in her throat, urgency vibrating through her as she lay close to the ground. Nyara scrambled down, almost running to check on T’en and Rixth. They were needed back in the Queen’s Wing… but there was no way she could leave without being certain the two would live.

They just had to live- Mictecath would never allow anything else (and she was a sharding difficult dragon to argue with at times).

Mine, our wing is shifting to mid-altitude now, Faloth informed W'ill. The young brownrider acknowledged the news and gave the healers a pleading look. "Pllease, I need to get back to my wing..."

Two of the healers pressed their hands to W'ill's shoulders to keep him from getting up. "No. We need to finish patching you both up. You and your dragon took a lot of damage out there. You're in no shape to fly."

"But--" The searing pain of redwort being slathered on the fresh Threadscore made him hiss and hearly brought tears to his eyes. Maybe he was as much of a mess as the healers said...

A few healers began to move away, to tend other patients. The numbweed had taken full effect, and the brown was beginning to get impatient. He wanted to be back up with his wingmates, to take another hit. Zyamel, of course, was also wanting to be back... but she couldn't--wouldn't--return until the Healers signed off.

"Are you sure we can't--" She started, but the Journeyman dragonhealer remained firm.

He wanted to check just a few more places...

A flash of gold caught his eye. Mictecath. And who had she delivered but his very own clutch sire, Rixth. He didn't look well, and it was clear that things had taken a turn up there. He sent a small, but firm, wave of support to both Rixth and Mictecath; it wasn't coddling reassurance, but at least of firm belief that surely, this too, could be, and would be healed. The healers would work their skill and certainly wouldn't allow a bronze to flounder.

Hadn't the healers done nothing but great things on him? Ven's ego was back to where it needed to be... and he would be only too happy to help lift up those who needed it.

Just as soon as he was back in a wing.

Pain be damned, he'd do better next time.

As the minutes dragged on, W'ill grew more and more despondent. He was beginning to think he wouldn't be going back up this 'Fall, judging by the way the healer doing the bulk of the work on him kept shaking his head and sighing. Reaching out to touch Faloth's mind, he sensed the pain his dragon was in, and sent soothing thoughts to him. Don't worry, my love, they'll get us patched up and out of here in no time. He wished he truly believed that...

Another gold, this time Anakumath, with a green... And other dragons were coming down for assistance. Zyamel felt as trapped as a feline in a pen, and was just as ready to break free when the Journeyman dragonhealer finally signed off.

She'd certainly need to get him looked at once Fall was over--assuming Thread didn't get them both again.

"Come on, Ven--and be sure to tell me if you start tearing open those wounds!" She gave him a thump on his shoulder, before scrambling up. While he was still sore, they would both feel better being back up in the air.

Maybe this time... they'd flame more Thread than they caught.
