After the pep talk Nusueth had given himself to ensure that he didn't scar his rider for life--as he often heard the other dragonriders say--it seemed like their luck was going well. Almost too well. They were jumping Between and burning thread up as if they were in a harmony that was told of in the stories shared by the harpers. It was thrilling for both dragon and rider to being have this much success. They didn't even know how much time was passing. They did indeed have this. Laasya kept sending encouragements to her dragon and made sure he kept his flame up, meanwhile Nusueth attempt to regale her stories of some of the dragonets who he had seen over the years to get her to laugh. While they certainly weren't having fun, they were definitely trying to lighten their actions with stories, laughter, and so much love.

Queen's Wing
G'ran of brown Elzebuth
HP: 15/22 HP
Status Effect: GUILT! Any damage gets a -4, no help from friends! 1/4
XP: (Base Stat - +1 to everything)(+5 to distribute)
Target Accuracy: +2 (+5)
Flame Length: +1 (+1)
General Stamina: +3 (+1)
General Agility: +1 (+2)
Between Accuracy: +1
Pain Resilience: +2 (1)
Instinct: +2
Luck: +1

Roll 1: A whole lot of nothin'. The Queen's Wing can sure be quiet sometimes. You should be getting XP points for patience the way this is going. Part of you wonders how your fellow wingmates are doing... maybe your dragon can get you a status report.
Roll 2: A tangle of Thread manages to slip through! Though you try to get it, you're not fast enough, or aim was way off base. Though it doesn't hurt you and your dragon, you do watch as it makes it through the last line of defense, to fall upon the helpless world below. Crops, plants, animals, and even possibly people are now in danger... you can only hope the ground crews will find the burrow safely once Thread is through. If this is your fourth time rolling this status, you start feeling Guilt [Take 3 Turns of Guilt! Any Damage rolled takes an additional -4 HP. Any successful bonuses by other players don't affect your character. You just don't deserve it.]
Roll 3: You keep looking up, but nothing seems to be heading your way. Your neck is starting to object, but it doesn't matter. You must be ever vigilant, or so the saying goes. The Queen's Wing is an important position, but it sure can be boring... Part of you wishes you could be higher up, where all the action is. Part of you is grateful you're safer down here.

No more thread falling near them. Just as well, G'ran thought bitterly. He'd accidentally let it fall, anyway. Elzebuth keened with concern, and the big man shook himself, trying to focus his thoughts. It wasn't Elzebuth's fault. It was his. But that didn't settle the brown at all.

QUEENS' WING - SAVING ROLL
Lestenna of Gold Uridith
6 - Up you go! You're not going to let this dragon fall -- not on your watch! Though they land awkwardly, and start to slide, your queen is able to quickly better position herself beneath the dragon. All that practice has paid off, and she knows exactly what to do. Bravo! Now back to the Weyr so you can get back to your Wing!

A trumpet of alarm went up! Oh no! Another falling dragon...another downed bronze! With her own cry of woe and worry, Uridith surged upwards from the golds' wing, giving Lestenna just enough time to shift in her straps so that when the plummeting bronze landed, she wasn't crushed under Rynsaith's bulk. She grunted as the bronze connected, the heavy male unbalanced, and for a moment she felt him slip! A tail quickly would around his limp one, and that seemed enough to halt the topple. Sisters, we will return! The gold warned her fellows of her absence, before turning her thoughts to Sa'do. We will have you down shortly. Do not fear.

She pressed a calming wave of thought to the man, and the dragon, should he rouse, as she swiftly traveled back to the weyr. Such pain. It hurt her heart to think they had suffered it...but all for the better of Pern. She came in to land near the pools in the edge of the weyrbowl, gently extracting herself from beneath the unconscious bronze. Hopefully the water will cool your wounds until the healers arrive, brave fighters...

Elzebuth was nearly desperate to prove himself at this point, not just for his sake, but for his rider's. G'ran needed to know that they were better than anyone else! Elzebuth did! Why didn't he understand?

It had taken Nusueth a little longer than most blues to get tired, but he felt the exhaustion sweeping over him far quicker than his brown and bronze counterparts. Going between, possibly throwing in a daring wheel or turn there to lighten the mood, flaming up thread, riding the wind while also trying to shift out of the way of his wingmates was so tiring. Nusueth flew in a near perfect upward angle as he tried to gain his lost altitude when he had to dive down to avoid another dragon. Just as he thought he was in the clear he was hit with another bout of thread. Well, really he flew into it but he wasn't about to admit that anytime soon. His legs had taken the brunt of his mistake and upon landing it would not be a great time.

Laasya wrapped her arms around his neck and gently rubbed up and down it's length as she tried to help him work through the pain. While the injury was minimal, it certainly had hurt and she'd have to make sure that he was patched up immediately if he had any hope of winding his way around on his legs. Nevermind the previous injuries to his wings that he had suffered today. "I thought we were trying to avoid thread?" She tried to joke.

[[5. Wheeling, flaming, catching thermals, fighting wind.... Threadfall is nothing if not exhausting. Greens, and blues find themselves panting with exhaustion. This is more tiring than they thought. Trying to come up from a dive, they struggle on wing and wind up getting blown right into some thread. Ouch! [+1 Stamina, Moderate Damage -4 HP ] Browns and bronzes aren't having quite as bad a time, their stamina having always been programmed to be a bit more hearty. [+3 Stamina]]]

"Halfway there, dearest," Olliah spoke, reaching down to give her pale coated beloved a fond pat on her neck. Thread had to be awful given how much of it was reaching their level, but she did not judge. Mostly, she feared. There would be much to do before the day ended -- ground crews to speak to, healing and nursing to provide, as well as a tally of resources used, and supplies needed before the next Fall. But, that could all be done later.

For now, they still had two Hours left of Fall.

The touch of Krah at changeover did soothe the Queen. She latched onto the blue's words, and made sure to send a wave of pride and fondness back. Good! I am glad you made it back safely. It won't be long before-- There was a pause, as the connection was temporarily replaced by a sharp, biting pain. Threadscore. She flinched, sparing Krah from the worst of it, taking a hop Between to soothe the new score on her wingsails and hip. ... It won't be long before I too, am back. Rest well, my Krah. We shall be together again soon. She would hold his words, his love, near and dear to her hearts. Her body might be sore and oozing ichor, but her heart was safe with Krah.

[Edit -- took the -7 from the Staff Roll yesterday . . . now let's see what her first roll is! Luck! Yay. Already filled in...]

Olliah heard the fondness and love Fianth possessed for Krahsujunth. She had to smile beneath her gear, though the echo of their love was out of sync. There was no one for Olliah to think of, and the one man she had once fought Thread for, lived for, would have died for . . . well. He had spurned her. Had used her. Had wanted her only for status and rank. She had been a trophy, nothing more, nothing less; and after she had left him, he had moved on to the next gold rider.

He wasn't the only man in the Weyr, of course. There were others. Not all of them had their hearts set on rising to the top. Maybe she could find someone else, someone different. Someone older, perhaps? Someone more mature? More rugged, more masculine -- no more pretty boys! -- someone . . . . like V'mel?

The thought shook through her, and caused Fianth to practically crow with laughter through their link.

Well he's . . . He's certainly not K'ienn! She defended her stray thoughts, a pout forming beneath her gear. Thankfully, no one could see how hard she blushed.

I'm afraid the gentleman might prefer blondes, but I could always ask Eveleth to see what her rider rates him.

Oh, Fianth, you wouldn't! You wicked creature!

The queen simply laughed, knowing well she would never do such a thing. Olliah had no such feelings for V'mel . . . but if her thoughts considered how much of a beast he might be, well . . . that was for her to know and no one else.

Still not much action. Elzebuth was having to fight very hard not to twist and look at his rider, still anxious over G'ran's mood. The man in question sighed, sending slow waves of mental reassurance... but where Elzebuth was spared of any blame, in his mind, he was entirely at fault. This did NOT satisfy the Devil one bit.

Nusueth had begrudgingly agreed that maybe he needed to go with their original plan of not showing off and using daring moves like they often liked to do in their personal time. When a patch of thread fell down just in front of him, he flew downwards at a more normal degree and flamed, making sure to avoid the backfire.

"Yes! That's how it's done!" Laasya screeched happily. Any rider nearby who saw her would surely laugh at her antics. Everyone in her wing by now should know she was a walking comedy show. Even if she tended to be a little bit to much of a mother hen.

"MM." Nusueth hummed. He was clearly enjoying the praise that brushed against his mind from his rider. "Thread is no match for me Laasyamine." He boasted.

A patch falls down ahead. You dive down, flaming as you go, and both rider and dragon are pleased to watch it turn into harmless ash. This is how it gets done!

Ah, but no matter what she wished, things were quiet for Fianth. It meant the queen could take a moment to relax, to catch her breath, and to let her thoughts stray for just a moment. Perhaps that was why Olliah honestly couldn't shake the thought of . . .

Nope. She wasn't going to think about K'ienn, and she certainly wasn't going to keep thinking about V'mel! He wasn't her type at all...wasn't he? Honestly, what did she want in relationship? Did she want one at all? Zheria went through men and women faster than a fighting dragon did a sack of firestone. Alumet... well, that young girl was precocious even as a Candidate. Ephia and Sylfie were both young queen riders, and she was certain they would have no trouble catching a man's eye or heart. Maybe... Maybe it was just meant to be. She had Fianth, and she had work. Unlike Zheria, Olliah did some of the more tedious tasks of the Weyr, and that meant time enough away from socializing.

She was fine. This was fine.

. . . . clearly, V'mel was on her mind simply because he periodically showed up in their Wing. Nothing more.

Something silver did, finally, distract both rider and dragon, from their train of thought. I see it! Quick, Mine! The pair veered, Olliah steadying her flamethrower. Though they caught the Thread, the wind kicked up, and blew the ash back into Fianth's side as she passed. Though it burned, it wasn't going to slow either rider or dragon down. Furthermore, it brought their thoughts back on task -- there was still more Thread to fight.

Elzebuth's thoughts had been with her as thread hit him, and she shrieked out her terror and distress. NOOOOOOOOO! OH NO! OH NO! Had she distracted him? Elzebuth! Please find me and Mine when we are finished! I will help you!

Faranth. Her brothers, whom she loved, were getting hurt. She sent out encouragement to Elzebuth, and to Menankith, whom she had noticed was also thread battered. Cynosuth keened in fear that she would not be able to help them in their time of need.

Kindeth, I am afraid right now. I am afraid that I will fail. That I will not flame the thread and in failing, my loved ones will die. Like... like her brother, who had... who had gone between, and never returned.

Her thoughts went to her mother, and she leaned into the support offered there. Mama, are you ever afraid? she asked, trying her very hardest to keep up with the rest. Dr'stan's loving hand upon her shoulder comforted her a little, but her hearts were beating too fast. Aresoth, please do not hurt yourself too.
