((OOC: You do have a very good point.))
Katalina swam out at last. Smiling wearily at Joshua, she gestured back the way they'd come. "Come on," she said. "I was hoping Korai would stick around - she's usually the most trustworthy - but I suppose she got hungry. Our next stop is expecting us."
She looked a lot more comfortable - if still a little tense - while speaking of their 'next stop'. "I guess I'll just ruin the surprise for you now," she commented airily. "Unless you want me to keep it secret."

Joshua grinned, thankfully that she looked more relaxed. His grin disappeared as he decided to take the chance to ask Katalina. "Actually, um....I was wondering what Narcis said to you." He looked away, feeling like he was prying. But it couldn't be helped in his mind. He was too curious. Once you got over the whole "looking like they'll eat you" thing, the sirens had been pretty neat to see. He glanced back at Katalina, smiling sheepishly for his question.

Katalina blinked back at him for several seconds, then blushed. "Oh. Well. I...um." Looking away, she said, "When we were younger, Narcis and I were...friendly. He wants me to stop being a loner and come rejoin my family." She shrugged apologetically. "You know. Basically just more of the same as what he was saying earlier." Except more personal, she thought.
She smiled, back on track. "These next friends of mine aren't exactly water creatures, but I think you'll be interested in them all the same," she told him.

Joshua nodded, accepting the mermaid's explanation. Now that he had an answer, the thought was pushed to the back of his mind in favor of other things. "Not water creatures? Who are they?" Joshua was privately thrilled at the plural. 'More that one! Hopefully that's a good thing.' He thought, remembering the differences between the undines and sirens when in groups.

Aoife looked scepticle at the cookie. "You eat strange food."

Joey sighed and took out another cookie. He held it out to her. "Here, try it."

Joey sighed. "You were cautious about the apple, too. Did that taste bad? This is sweet. You don't have to have it, I'm just saying..." He shrugged and held it out. "Last chance."

Katalina winked at him. "You'll just have to wait and see, won't you?" she asked brightly. "Some of them are friendly, as long as you're with me the first time you meet them. If you approach them the wrong way..." Her face grew sober. "They can be less friendly. Just be polite, and don't get too close unless they invite you to, and you should be fine."

Violet was swimming somewhere far in the ocean.... she swam up to a reef that broke itno the surface.... she swam up and stuck her head out of the water to make sure there were no boats or any signs of humans before she pulled herself up onto the roch, her purple scales shining and her silvery hair hanging over her shoulders...

Joey looked past Aoife and could have sworn he saw a flash of...purple? That was an oddity in the cove. He shoved the cookie in his mouth and finished it. He tossed the bag onto the shore and began to swim in the water. "Come on, I just saw something." He looked around trying to find the source of the flash as he swam. He looked over to a rock that jutted from the water. I looked like a girl was there...except she had a purple tail.

Aoife, afraid to offend him, took the cookie in her hand. Then just as cautiously as she had the apple she took a bite of the cookie. Her eyes widened and looked at the cookie. "Very sweet." She looked at it as if she wasn't sure if she liked it or not.

Joey nodded. "Indeed. Um...is it just me...or is there a mermaid on the rocks out there?" He pointed to the far reaches of the cove, his eyes straining to see.

Aoife turned, forgetting about the cookie, and looked out toward where Joey indicated. "Yes." Aoife unsure of herself again, turned back to Joey. "Would you want me to go and talk to her?"

Joey nodded. "Yes...please. We don't know if she is hostile to humans or not. If she is, then I don't know if I would want to meet her..." He shivered and looked at Aoife. "In any case, please be careful."
