"I never said I felt I needed to." Ophelia returned the smirk. "I will say this; I like rewarding you both for being so good to me. I want to be just as good to you both, if not more so."

"Well with you being the trouble magnet that you are, you're going to have a tough time paying us back." Balthazar pointed out as he poked her nose.

{Whenever this conversation between them ends, what will we do then? Skip to the end? Have a sudden breakthrough and they work towards it? Or what?}
"I'll..find a way. Eventually." Ophelia's smile fell a little at being reminded of her status as a complete and utter doom-magnet.

((...Idk. I'll leave that up to you. >.<;; ))
"Hey, I was teasing. You weren't supposed to take it seriously." Balthazar said pulling her into a close hug.

"Now you're absolutely sure you know what you're doing, right?" Balthazar murmured as he helped Kaistern whip up the potion that would, in theory, solve all Ophelia's problems.
"In all honesty....no." Kaistern said with a grim sigh as he added some things into the cauldron he was working with. It was late and the pair were working in the castle's alchemy lab in the dead of night. "But at the moment this is the best shot we have of strengthening her body. If we wait any longer the baby is going to break her from the inside out." The situation was clearly eating Kaistern, and the worry that showed on his face was only intensified by the flickering torch light that filled the room.

Ophelia had been escorted to one of the previously empty rooms in the castle by particularly helpful servants once the prepwork for the potion and spell was complete. She sat up as best she could in the center of the room, surrounded by various ancient runes and the like. On the outskirts of the spell circle certain magical items were placed in distinct places. Spriggan Root, Poisonous Apple, Flesh-Eating Plant Seeds, and an empty gem-like Soul Capsule for example. (Why such things were needed was never stated, but like Kaistern and perhaps Balthazar, Ophelia was growing desperate she had little choice.)
{She gets to become a spriggan-like creature, right? :3 Or is that witch? Whatever, either's awesome.}

((With ingredients like those, Spriggan definitely would make sense. xD ))
"I sincerely hope this works..." Kaistern sighed nervously as he held a small vial up in front of him, freshly filled with their concoction that was a deep teal in color and glowed faintly. Their preparations complete, the pair went to go meet Ophelia to get this shindig under way. "Here," he said handing her the small vial. "drink this when I tell you and we'll take care of the rest."

{That's what I was hoping for. XD}
Ophelia gently held the vial, looking it and her husbands over several times before finally speaking. "Very well." She said nothing more as she waited for them to begin the spell, ready for whatever was to come. Or so she thought, at least.

Both gave her a soft kiss on her cheeks before stepping outside the circle, giving her a nod to go ahead and drink it down before they began the ritual and prayed for success.
((Cue ritual getting horribly FUBAR'd on FMA-esque levels.))

Ophelia drank the liquid without hesitation, as she was instructed. Every marking began to glow with the very color of the now downed liquid. The ingredients on the outskirts of the circle seemed to melt into the ground, the mush that resulted bubbling for a few moments before rapidly sinking into the markings - all of which shooting towards Ophelia. Once they all made contact at the exact same time an orb of translucent magic enveloped the pregnant woman. Neither Kaistern nor Balthazar could see what went on inside, but Ophelia's bloodcurtling screams of pain were a good indicator as to what was happening. Never before had she cried out like she did now, let alone showed any extensive feeling of fear around either male. Eventually the screaming stopped, sounding as if it was stifled by rising waters. The magical orb promptly exploded, letting a faintly green translucent water spray everywhere as Ophelia fell to her knees sobbing over the pain. She looked utterly soaked, her slightly wavy black hair hanging low as it clung to her skin and dripped water onto the floor. Her skin took on a faintly greenish hue and her tattoos seemed largely faded, if not barely visible at all. The once golden irises of her eyes also took on a faintly green tint, glowing dimly just as the markings on the floor and her potion had before. She hugged herself tightly, head hung low and all awareness of her surroundings lost. She would get better eventually, but for the moment she was utterly traumatized.

"...Ophelia...." Both men looked on in horror, Kaistern absolutely frozen while he stared at what his beloved wife had become. Just what had they done to her?
"OPHELIA!!" Balthazar was less paralyzed and ran right to her side once he had the chance. "What-what happened?! Are you okay?? Say something!!" he threw his decorative cape around her shoulders and hugged her close for what it was worth.

Ophelia's eyes went wide with horror and she cried out, trying to wriggle free for several moments until her surroundings finally registered within her head. She wept even harder, going on to cling to Balthazar as tightly as possible. She whispered eerilly specific words to describe the pain, easilly recalling every instance of her time within the orb. What was said, though, sounded far worse than any torture Ophelia could have imagined before. Later in life she would truly ponder whether such an experience was worse than death itself.

"The ******** was that?!" Balthazar snapped at Kaistern, his terror quickly turned anger, as his 'softer' emotions tended to do. "I thought this was just supposed to strengthen her body, not turn her into this...this thing!" he got up and stormed over to his fellow king and grabbed the collar of his shirt.
Kaistern quickly snapped out of his daze when he felt his feet start to leave the ground. "I told you, I wasn't entirely sure to begin with, but--"
"Then why the ******** would you even try s**t like that?!" Balthazar cried as he pushed him against the back wall hard.
"I told you! If we didn't act now, the baby would've started to physically harm her! She would've been in far worse condition and at greater risk if we kept looking for some better solution that may not have existed at all! And really, what did you even do to contribute?! More often than not you fell asleep face first in the books!!" That got him a punch to the face as the blame game only escalated between the two.
((....Yes iTunes. 'You Can't Fight the Homestuck' is the perfect background music for this heart-wrenching scene. -.- SHUFFLE. Y U NO READ MY THOUGHTS?! emotion_donotwant ))

{Lmao. XD
I've been playing Whispers in the Dark by Skillet.}
Ophelia gingerly moved to stand up, not wanting to sit around in this room any longer lest the memories of the fateful event continue to haunt her so vividly. Every crevice and every dull, messied marking were painted clearly within her head. It was a strange mixture of having known this room forever, like one would a long time home, and having been trapped there for an eternity. These feelings welling within her felt so unnatural and confusing. She looked herself over and noticed the change in skin pigment, her faded tattoos, and the new swirly green markings that tattooed themselves on various places on her body. This confusion and shock was terrible, sure, but at least she stopped crying for now.
Ophelia looked over to her hubands once she recovered a little more from the total mindscrew she was feeling as of now. She didn't hear much of what they said before, as she'd been paying more attention to her own grief instead of theirs. "Why...are you two fighting?" she asked, stll quite disoriented as she looked over the two. Her voice had the faintest echo to it, making her being seem far more ethereal than she had before.
