Kinyegele

Perhaps she'd been a little too focused on...greens to have noticed the fervor with which the little blue who now stalked in his jealousy off towards one of the boys. Still, it was nice to see he'd found what he'd been looking for.

That still left so many babies to pick a candidate to continue their lives with. It was rather wonderful to be so up close for. Even if this wasn't her chance. Maybe the doubt in her heart was just a little too much, and that....was all on Kinye. But the one thing she didn't doubt on was how the atmosphere of the Weyr would change in the days to follow. So many handsome blues and beautiful greens and -

She could have sighed all day.

----

Fahn

Fahn had noticed the blue about as long as it had taken for another dragon to distract her. Oops. Its jealousy didn't seem to phase her, however, and as he ran to find the man it would call his, she turned her attention back to the blues and greens still on the sands. Surely, the gold nestled in with her family was interesting, but....

Fahn just wasn't a girl to end up on a gold and she knew it.

----

Kahbrohm

After sitting for as long as he had been after being patched up, Kahbrohm was starting to feel a little restless. He could sit there talking off his feelings for the rest of the day and let those who knew how wound around that red and gold egg his obsession had become wonder if he was sulking, or....

Kahbrohm pat Dehka firmly on the shoulder before he rose up to his feet with all of the composure the boy usually had to him - which was to say he still looked a few degrees off angry. But his head was held high as he stepped from the healer's quarters and strode purposely across the sands to take his place with the candidates again. Even if the throbbing of pain in his chest should have...had him not do that.

Tsunake
Kah goes off to stare down dragons.

----

Juhvek

Oh. Yes. Juhvek had absolutely been distracted enough by the metallics on the sands that he'd all but dismissed the blue, even when it left teeth marks in his robe and then wandered off towards its next task - which was to impress another man.

But it was getting to be slimmer and slimmer pickings amongst the candidates for these dragons. Which would still have their chances? Which would hatch and worry they hadn't run to theirs soon enough and a sibling or a cousin had snatched them up instead? Was that something that even happened?

Lucius--High Reaches Candidate

The little queen suddenly going towards a candidate had Lucius watching her, though he was very glad to see the dragonet had restraint, she had wanted to make a show with the boy she had gone after. The candidate must have thought something untoward, something that had made Rhianth made as well as the green that had just hatched. The sandy haired blond couldn't help but sigh, lessons must not have been drilled into their heads enough, even after they had all had their knots taken away and had to earn them back. There was no telling what Gr'del would do to them, especially after a group of candidates had tried to punch open an egg.

At least the hatching was starting to slow down, there were still babies left to impress but, they were impressing and finding there's. He had never imagined that there would be this many dragonets at once on the sands, he had heard tales of how large the first clutches had been but he had never thought he would get to stand for a double clutch. It kept the boys thoughts hopeful, his head forever in the clouds with images of himself with his own bonded. If he didn't impress today, he wouldn't let it get him down, he would do whatever it took to keep people safe from Thread, even if he never found his dragon partner.

It wasn't the dragon that made a hero right? It was the passion and drive to protect and care for others....right?

Amaretti felt a deep fondness and a stirring of protectiveness for Nonami, squeezing the candidate's hand. "However many Hatchings it takes, I know that you will Impress, one day. You are a good and kind person, and you would be a credit to any Weyr." Admittedly, Amare did hope that Nonami Impressed at High Reaches, as that would mean that she could be close to them. But even if they did not, she'd make sure to keep in touch. They had written many letters back and forth up to this point. She just knew that if Nonami were there she'd be able to better protect them.

Watching the dragonets interact with her fellow Candidates brought a curious feeling in Amare's chest. It... hmm. She wasn't sure that she was going to Impress this time or at all. Nothing had really struck her during the Touching - perhaps because she hadn't touched the right egg, or perhaps because this simply wasn't her moment. It seemed that the Hatching was winding down a little, and if so, perhaps that was for the best. She wouldn't have to risk her sibling to a pair of clutches that clearly had some strong personalities. Strong and dangerous, if Avada Kedavra were any indication.

S'lys and Brown Leoniath

When bronze Valseth mimicked Leoniath, his eyes swirled in excitement. He shared the bronze's feelings, watching as he moved toward S'lys. "Then brothers we are!" As he watched S'mol approach S'lys, his eyes whirled, friends!

S'lys, on the other hand, was not expecting to be inspected by a bronze let alone touched. He jumped slightly, stepping a bit away. "Ah. Well. S'lot going on.. But uh, name's S..S'lys." Yeah. He rubbed his cheek for a second before holding his hand out. "Seems we'll be seein' a lot of eachother.." As long as no one else touched him, he'd be okay.

Maybe.

Leoniath wasted no time when he saw his green sister, Metlath approach. He creened to her, dancing to meet her before giving S'lys a quick look. How he loved his green sisters. His golden sister may be queens but to him, the greens were just as lovely. And of course he wanted to race! He was full of meat and while he would need to be oiled soon, he wanted to play more!

Speaking of his lovely green sisters, Samodith had also caught his attention as he had sped off to chase Metlath. His eyes swirled with color as he echoed her praise for his rider. He also echoed her apology and praise to S'lys who merely shrank back further. "Come play with us!" Leoniath called to Samodith, ignoring S'lys'.. avoidance. He would get over it in time!

Speaking of S'lys, he caught another new rider looking at him, offering a smile. He.. tried to give one back? He wasn't good at peopling.

Rylyrr

He chuckled and looked down at his hands. "I think we might also need a bit of a scrub before we nap." He was getting blood and other... bits under his nails and he was going to have to take an stick to them. Dragons fed, scrubbed, some scrubbing of their own, and nap.

Andelath swallowed the chunk of meat offered by his rider. Mmhm, it was truly delicious. He tipped his head back, looking to see who his cousin was greeting and bobbed his head to the brown as well. He was a handsome looking thing.

Yeah, yeah. He gave Dea one last smile before heading towards Rothgar. He knew the guy well, even if it’d been turns since since he’d spoken to him. He’d tended to avoid anyone with any connection to G’ret, and Rothgar had been his best friend. The mischief they’d caused as weyrbrats made him smile.

He’d changed since then. G’ret, the one who’d loved life and every adventure, had been taken. “Hey, Rothy,” he said, once he reached the boy. He set his eyes on the remaining dragons, then. Right. They were supposed to be focusing on them.

“Think you’ll Impress one of them?”

Rhylune

Rhylune gave a soft noise of confusion as the little gold attacked a boy. What... what had he done? She made a soft ooh noise as the gold spoke and haven't they all been told? Like multiple times? Not to?

She looked at the hatching, moving from foot to foot. They were so beautiful and how could anyone think that any of them as less then perfect?

Candidate Nalacko she/her

Nala shuffled her feet a bit nervously at being alone. She thought of their group; those who’d been lucky enough to impress already, of those who were at the healers still hoping the right one might find them. She wished the new weyrlings the best of luck with their beautiful dragons. The teen also knew she’d be making a number of trips to the healer to visit those friends injured.

She took a deep calming breath and tried to focus on the hatching again. Nala did her best at projecting calm thoughts, and happy thoughts of dragons finding their riders. A sense, or maybe a feeling, of encouragement tickled her mind. Who? What? Nala didn’t see any dragon near her or looking at her so chalked it up mainly to her imagination under the situation.

The young teen smiled as another blue bee lined straight for his rider to stand up on his hind feet to touch their faces. So adorable!

Rothgar // he/him | BeastCraft, Weyrherd; Part-time Weyrbrat | Candidate

"Heey--" Rothgar returned, before recognizing a familiar face and a welcome smile, "eeeyyYY! Rhee! How are you! It's been ages!" He finished the younger boy's gesture with a bear hug that lifted him off his feet, and a pat on the back. He followed Rhiyn's lead and looked back to the hatchlings with a huge ear-to-ear grin that buckled up the scar that hooked his lips.

"Hm... There were definitely some I could get on the same wavelength with, you know? But nah, they've all passed me by except for a coupla Blues. That would have been great, two Isbranths in my life! But they were looking closely at everyone and there was nothing special that passed between us. I'm getting used to it though," he added with a shrug. "Cheering everyone on."

He had tried to be cheerful and sincere about it, he really did, but sometimes when he was alone he found himself overwhelmed by tear-jerking jealousy. It was probably normal. "How about you? Anyone special out there?"

"You know," he added a little while later, "you guys are always welcome to join us at the feast. We could get tipsy and cause some real mischief," he chuckled. "None of this mean-spirited stuff we've seen today."

Karone
Some of the candidates were visibly tired now, but Karone was not one of them. The shock of seeing Karou alive had been like accidentally touching a hot coal. He was awake. And he was focused. He was still here for the sake of the dragons’ and for his own future, but he was unable to take much joy in their antics. Only Remember Me’s display of strength and wisdom drew a small smile. There was something about the queens, especially the warm-hearted ones, that he loved. Perhaps it was their femininity. Perhaps it was their nurturing qualities. Perhaps it was simply a longing for something he could never have.

Out of the corner of his eye, Kar saw a sandy-haired boy returning from the healers. As Kahbrohm came to to a stop nearby, he turned to face the returning boy and look at the fresh bandages across his chest. He was very brave to come back after suffering such a wound. Karone knew Kahbrohm was usually rather contentious, but something in his expression seemed a little different. Perhaps even something like what Kar himself was feeling.

He took a sidestep closer, leaning a little so he wouldn’t have to speak too loudly for the other boy to hear. “There’s still plenty of dragons left to Impress… maybe one of them’s been looking for you.”

Arcadin (phone post)

He turned his head only when the person who approached spoke up. Arc had expected some degree of scorn in the boy’s tone, and he looked up warily even when he heard none of it. Why did this guy care?

At length, Arc pushed himself to his feet, ignoring the offered hand. Dangerous on the ground. He scoffed; it was probably a joke to the other candidate after what had happened. “M’fine,” he said under his breath, wiping at the blood over his eye.

Rhiyn was surprised by Rothgar’s greeting. But it made him smile. He certainly seemed happy to see him. All those turns of mostly avoiding his friend... he felt a surge of guilt fill him. “No I don’t think any dragon’s given me the time of day,” Rhiyn admitted with a shrug. Maybe one day one would take an interest him.

“Would you mind if it’s only me?” He asked, awkwardly. Did Rothy not know of G’ret’s death? “I’d like to. A girl was ripped apart right in front of me.”

Red & White Bronze
The dragon gave a double-take when the green Deatheater flicked her tail and pranced on ahead. She was... certainly fetching and yet... The bronze almost took a step after, before he stopped, and was reminded of the little, trembling bronze beneath his wings.

He bared a fang in a sneer, or any of the Candidates, he instead, once more, turned and nipped at the little bronze, taking his irritation out at him. He wasn't going to start a fight, not after being told off by his golden sister... And yet...

Well.

So long as the little one knew his place, that was all that mattered.

- - -
Fianth
The golden dragon turned to glance over where the majority of her babies had gone with Theirs. Still, her eyes flashed a warm blue, and she reached out to Moirath gently. Tell Yours she has nothing to fear. The little one will be quite all right. While she was still terribly upset that Candidates had done such an awful, nasty thing to her eggs--even if the little one within had wanted assistance--she had set such feelings aside.

Craning her neck down, she delicately nipped at the very top of the shell. Grabbing old, she was able to actually tear the egg open from above. Any Candidates nearby would see well that the shell was far too thick for any baby dragon to push through. Lowering her snout down into the egg, the golden mother nuzzled at the contents within.

Were they ready to come out now?

Baby Mine Egg
The egg continued to shake back and forth, back and forth. The little being within seemed more than pleased that Krahsujunth had settled nearby, and continued rocking and wobbling, more fervant. Uh-oh, wherry-ohs...Papa? Paaaaapaaaaaa. Daaaaaddddyyyyyy. It was stuck! Would it have to stay an egg forever? Would it never be borned? There was a mix of concern and alarm within the little pink egg. Shake, shake, shake, but it couldn't seem to shake forever.

Sigh.

ShinosBee

- - -
Yellow & Pink Striped Mystery Egg Four
The blue dragon had been seemingly forgotten. Perhaps that was for the best. The slinky dragon didn't mine that eyes weren't on it. For now, the creature was happily circling the Candidates, pausing now and then to look at one or the other, to make an assessment, before carrying on. His eyes whirled a slow blue-yellow, though he didn't seem to be particularly alarmed.

Finally, the blue stopped, and snaked his way up to an unsuspecting pair of Candidates. He looked at the smaller one first, reaching up to let his tongue lick Nonami before giving a shake of his head. No. That wouldn't do at all. But what of the other?

Turning eyes up at Amaretti, the blue seemed to give a thrum of approval. Slowly, carefully, the creature twined itself around the older girl, not at all overly alarmed if Nonami was pushed aside, or their grip on Amaretti broken. As far as the blue was concerned, it was just the pair of them.

AmarettiMine. Your Sucurith is here. Am I not the finest blue in the Weyr? Shall we not make the most spectacular pair in all High Reaches? You are Mine now, and shall be no others. No matter what her mother wished for her, no matter what Amaretti might yearn for herself, it did not matter, for this blue had made his choice. Together, they would get everything they desired, and more... especially if Sucurith had his way.

Kahbrohm

While he knew Karone tangentially, he wasn't someone Kabrohm knew well enough to expect the boy to have spoken up. At least not to him. He looked at him critically before looking back out towards the dragons with an unchanging scowl. "Perhaps," the green from Rhianth's clutch held particular attention, but there was still some blues and a brown as well. That was without considering the glittering bronzes - four of them still on the sands if he hadn't miscounted.

Oh, one less blue now, however.

"Wouldn't fault their tastes either way," either they had good tastes or they didn't. "Looking at one in particular?" he asked in turn to Karone, if only to see what his thoughts about his own odds were.

FISHER

Fisher let out a loud(ish) yawn as she continued to watch the dragonets and the eggs. All the excitement from before was slowly seeping from her body, as things often did when she had time to process them. There was no need to panic or run now with that sassy little gold on the sands and so all the adrenaline she'd been holding on to flooded out with each yawn from her body.

She didn't quite care that it could be seen as rude or dismissive - she was simply relaxed and there wasn't any reason for her to think she wasn't safe. The only aggressive dragonet had its attentions on its brother and the red eyed green was clearly too smitten with the gold to even try. The wave of babies also was seeming to end, even though there were eggs still left - were they all duds?

Fisher didn't know how dragon stuff worked and part of her wondered if she should care? Once all of this was over her life would go back to the routine of chores and she could just add her name to the list of other who stood and just got sandburns for their troubles. Not really a bad thing though since she didn't expect much considering the reception she'd gotten during the whole "touching" thing. Maybe being a dragonrider just wasn't for her?

At least she had a craft to fall back on when this didn't pan out, unlike many of the other kids here. Fisher liked fishing.
