((I understand. I was posting via ipad earlier, so it's cool.))
Once Adrian had Calista, Dr Wilder lead him to the back, stopping once they got to a door to a private room. From the windows it could be seen that the room was set up like a dark room that a photographer would have. "The surgery went longer than expected, but we were able to repair the damage. After looking over her medical history, we decided it would be unwise to give her anything for the pain. Putting aside the fact that it could harm the baby, if we treated her pain, she could become addicted to the drugs. The head trauma she suffered caused significant swelling to her brain, so given the head trauma and our inability to manage her pain, it was decided to put her into a medically induced coma until her brain recovers. We haven't been able to accurately determine the fetus's condition with her powers protecting it, but I figure when her right arm returns to its normal state, that will signal that her body has recovered enough to take care of the fetus on its own without her powers needing to help. So we will be able to know for sure if any damage was done once that occurs." He told Adrian as they looked through the window. "As for the room, it is a dark room to help aide Amaya in the healing process and ease the stress her powers are putting on her. She's still in serious condition and being monitored closely, but you can go in and see her. Given the amount of healing supplements she was force fed over the years, it should have urged her body to speed up the healing process on its own by this point, as well as the fact that she's been limited to the bare essentials of living to ease brain activity."
Amaya was hooked up to all sorts of machines, including heart monitors and a machine that was breathing for her. Besides the beeps from the heart monitor and the hissing sound of the respirator, the room was silent, its occupant covered with bandages and bruises.

Adrian slowly walked into the dark room, as if worried that the slightest noise would interfere with her healing process. "Amaya..." freeing up one of his hands he gently placed it on top of hers. "I'm sorry," he whispered. "If I was just a little faster I could have protected you...I love you, so please hurry and get better..." he said softly before leaning over and gently kissing her cheek before he left the room, heading home for now unless the doctor had anything else to say.

Three days passed before Amaya's right arm returned. Her body was healing well, given the beating she had received, and they were going to take her out of her coma later that day, though they were waiting for Adrian at this point before reversing the coma or checking the baby's health.
Calista was too afraid to go to school the last few days, fearing that Sloan would be waiting after school to grab her or something. She still didn't understand why she couldn't talk to her mother or see her and this upset the child greatly.

"I'm sorry you haven't been able to see your mom for a few days, but she was just in no condition to see you until now." Adrian told Calista as he flew to the hospital with her in his arms. It wasn't quite true of course, but with the shape Amaya was in, he didn't think Calista should have seen that. "Even if she were, the doctors have had her sleeping this whole time to help her heal a little faster. But now she's in better shape than before and so the doctors are going to wake her up today." he said in an attempt to explain why they could see Amaya now. "And I'm sure she couldn't be happier if we were the first things she got to see upon waking up."

"So mommy is feeling better?" Calista asked as she looked up at him. She'd been making cards for her mom the last three days and she was excited to see her, seeing as everyone had kept her from seeing her since she ran away a few days ago.

"Better than she was a few days ago, that's for sure." Adrian said as he landed in front of the hospital. "I'm not sure if she'll be well enough to come home yet, but certainly well enough for us to visit her." he said as he set Calista down. With his hands full on the ride over, he'd put the little girl in charge of holding her bag of the many cards she'd made for her mom and the small bouquet of flowers Adrian had bought.

Calista carried everything proudly as she followed after Adrian, though she stopped and hid behind his leg as they approached Dr Wilder, who was waiting for them outside Amaya's room.
As Adrian and Calista walked up, Dr Wilder smiled and greeted them. "Glad to see you two. Mr Dupree, the neonatal specialist is standing by to do an ultrasound, we can either do it now or wait until we've taken Amaya out of the coma. It's up to you, but it might be better to check on the baby before we wake her in case something did happen." He told Adrian in a soft voice so Calista wouldn't hear them talking. "We can have a nurse watch Calista if you would prefer she didn't know."

"That'd be great." Adrian said with a small smile, though it was slightly worried when the doctor mentioned the chance of things going wrong, but covered it up before he turned to squat down in front of Calista. "Calista, the doctors want to do one more little test that I need to be present for, but you unfortunately can't be present for it, so the nurse is going to have to watch you for a bit, okay? It shouldn't take too long though, and someone can come find me in case you need anything. Can I trust you to be a good girl and watch Amaya's presents until I get back?"

Calista pouted a little to hear there was one more test, but nodded and followed after the nurse who was waiting to take her over to the waiting room.
Once Calista was gone, Dr Wilder nodded and lead Adrian into Amaya's room, where the neonatal specialist was waiting. "I would have liked to do this when she came in, but her powers were messing with our equipment." The specialist murmured as she put the jelly on Amaya's stomach and started moving the wand around. Once she got in the right area, the heartbeat could be heard, making the specialist smile a bit to herself. "Well we have a heartbeat, so that's encouraging." She told Adrian. She found the fetus a moment later, it was about the size of a peanut, but she looked at the screen carefully as she moved the wand around a bit to make sure there was nothing seriously wrong with it. "Well there's the heart..." She muttered, pointing to a tiny beating dot near the center of it. "And there's the head...hands...feet..." She told Adrian, pointing out each as she mentioned them. "It looks like the fetus is developing fine, the heartbeat is strong and normal for its development." She said with a smile, putting the machine away and wiping the jelly off Amaya before she handed Adrian a picture of the fetus. "You can give that to her later, and we'll discuss regular appointments when she's coherent." The specialist said before she nodded to Adrian and Dr Wilder, leaving the room after that.

Adrian held Amaya's hand through the whole procedure and was smiling as he heard about his baby. "I'm sure she'll be thrilled. That the baby's healthy, I mean. Not the scheduling part." he said with a small chuckle as he slipped the picture into a pocket inside his coat, careful to keep it nice and flat if at all possible. "So in theory Calista gets to come in and Amaya gets to wake up now, right?"

"That is the theory. She'll be a little loopy and groggy until the drugs fully wear off, which should take about an hour, but she should start waking up as we take her off things." Dr Wilder said as he walked over to the door, waving for the nurse to bring Calista back.
Calista came charging back in a moment later, hanging onto Adrian. "Are we gonna wake mommy up now?" Calista asked excitedly.
"Yes, we're going to start waking her up in a minute. But your mommy is going to be sleepy still for a little while, and she's going to be some pain, so can you be patient for me?" Dr Wilder asked as he smiled and knelt down to Calista's level. Chuckling as Calista nodded, he patted her on the head and then got back up, getting the drugs and everything ready.

Calista nodded, handing Adrian the flowers as she hooked an arm around his neck.
Dr Wilder injected two things into her IV, getting ready to unhook her respirator once she started coming around. It took about thirty seconds before her heart rate picked up and her eyes slowly fluttered open. Amaya began resisting the respirator immediately, coughing as Dr Wilder took it out. "Amaya, you're in the hospital." He began explaining calmly, since she'd been unconscious since Adrian found her. "You had surgery and you're still recovering, so don't try to move too much. Calista and Adrian are here to see you." He told her, seeing her eyes begin to open a little more.
As Amaya slowly started coming around, she heard a strange man explaining what had happened to her very slowly and clearly, which was good since she was not fully awake yet. Her throat hurt from the respirator, but her entire body was throbbing with pain. Tears slipped out of the corners of her eyes, though she assumed the reason she wasn't given anything to manage the pain. Moving her head slowly, she smiled, seeing Adrian and Calista standing there, her heart picking up a bit to see Calista was alright and the love of her life was there.

"I feel like someone used me as a baseball bat against a boulder...." Amaya whispered, her right hand traveling up to her throat as she tried to swallow and get some of the pain to subside.
