Holy crap! That does not make any sense! They ban a word half the people on here have never heard of, but not the ones that everyone words. (Even though i think they should ban any words)

Edit: I just checked, and they've completely erased the option of "no filter" in the preferences. The lowest is now minimal. This is bull! I'm thirteen and I've heard it all. It's not like they're protecting me or anyone else on here form anything!

lol im 20 and i dont get the option ^_^ i would think in my 20 years i would have got over words like that or be able to decide for myself rolleyes and i know there are older people on here too who would feel the same

I'm just suprised they block out this word (I've never heard) that I don't believe is a swear, but we can say "********" all we want and the filters won't do a damn thing.

And when I was 10, I heard plently of swears. If I didn't get them from the internet, TV, or kids at my school, I got em from my dad.
Hell, I think I was 9 and I knew alot of swears.

EDIT: I'm on MINIMAL Filtering and I can see every word in this post, but this word (that I don't remember and am to lazy to open a new window to check) is blocked out.

I read a discussion about this a few days ago. It was in favor of the filters.

The reason that was in the thread was this one:
With the risk of having people possibly complain about all the sexual and/or violent content, gaia needed to clean up so that it wouldn't be forced to either close or make people pay to use it. She then gave the example of MSN Chat I think. (because of some problems, they had to choose between closing or making people pay to use it. They chose to have people pay.) She said she was there when it happened.

Personally I don't really care either way. I do think that the filters aren't really working since people find other ways to write p. bear and other restricted words. Plus banning things usually makes people want to do them more. sweatdrop
