OneForgottenSoul The Immortal Instruments trilogy by Cassandra Clare's a pretty good series. I only read the first book though but I'm definitely hooked into reading it, but that's my preferrence. The third and final book is planning release at the end of March next year. *squeal* I have the first two! I luv it! Did u see that slushy cookie that she gave us? Oh-lala!

DO NOT read Twilight, for the love of GOD don't read it. It brings a mockery to the word Twilight. Read nothing by Stephenie Meyer.
Books you should read : Anything by Piers Anthony, Anne McCaffery, Garth Nix, Robert Heinland, Douglas Adams. Books - To Kill a Mockingbird, Watership Down
I can't remember many good books, but there are so many. Just look and you'll find them.

The Elvenbane trilogy by Andre Norton and Mercedes Lackey if you like elves, dragons, and wizards
The Dresdan Files series by Jim Butcher
The Vlad Taltos series by Steven Brust It's a great read, give it a try I suggest start with Jhereg, but according to the author, there is no real sequence. Jhereg will let you get to know the main character and some others.

Fantasy: The Crystal Cave by Mary Stewart and the rest of that series... i think there's 3 of them... (The Crystal Cave, The Hollow Hills and the Last Enchantment) I've only read the first 2 though ^^' BUT they were both amazing. the plot line is a little cliche, but Mary Stewart puts a nice twist on it, and in the end, it's not as cliche as you might think...
Fablehaven by Brandon Mull I'm just a little ways into it, but so far it's interesting.
The Inheritance "Trilogy" by Christopher Paolini ...which isn't actually a trilogy anymore... So, Eragon, Eldest, and Brisingr
THe NeverEnding Story ??? THIS BOOK IS AMAZING!!!
Sci-Fi: Hitch-Hikers Guide to the Galaxy OF COURSE! Douglas Adams. then again... ANYTHING by Douglas Adams. I'm on Mostly Harmless right now ^^'
Historical Fiction: Memoirs of a Geisha by Aurthur Golden this is actually pretty interesting. and it's not really dirty as you would assume from the title... it only has 3 sex scenes in it, and only one is in detail, and not even that much. it IS appropriate for school.
Other: Call of the Wild-Jack London Anne of Greene Gables series Harry Potter series The Spiderwick Chronicles series by Tony Diterlizzi and Holly Black
and whatever you do... don't read twilight...
