Well, rock is very exciting, and there is a lot of variety in rock, since there are 4 different kinds of instruments (including voice), while rap is mostly a beat and a voice.

Why not love rock!?
For some reason, I can relate to most rock n' roll songs. It really catches my attention...

Im a fan of hip-hop and rock myself. My favorite rappers are Ludacris and Kanye West, and my favorite bands/rock groups are 3OH!3, HelloGoodbye, and The Killers. (I heart THE KILLERS!)

I love rock because the things the rappers rap about are not things that I will ever do or have. If you know what I mean?

It may be because of the continued decline in quality of the entire urban music scene. Nowadays it's all about guns, bitches, and bling, and all that gets old fast. That's just my theory.
I also like both genres, but I'm much more of a rock person. It keeps me sane...somewhat.

I prefer rock, because you can express anything in that genre. Also rap is a type of music, but it doesn't really "touch my heart" and make me feel emotions, like rock. I just have a certain feeling when I hear a song that I like and most of the songs I like are rock, mostly...But rap is just fine. o_O

my thoughts exactly BlueMoon4 Actaully, rap is a derivite of old chanting. Sure it's taken a less than desireable turn, but it does take talent to make good rap songs. And by saying rap isn't music is saying there's no such thing as music because most music came from rap, be it influences or derivitives.
just an fyi. whee
Oh, and to answer the original question: why do more gaian's like rock more is that's what's being marketed the most heavily and it's more sellable than rap. There's not much one can do to rap to make it your own than a nice back-beat. With rock, there are bou-koo amounts you can do. So everyone gets what they like in Rock, but not neccessarily in rap.
*wheezes* That's a mouthful.

well i like rock, but metal more but its kinda the same, i hate rap and to answer the question why gaians like rock more than rap is because rock has been around longer and songs never go out of style except rap most of them sound the same and songs don't stay for very long like one month its very popualar and the next month you can never hear it again. Most gaians are more older than younger and i never yet heard an "older" person listing to rap and well rock is just common

Most of the love of the Rock & Roll music style this generation started in 2004 with the introduction of the first "Guitar Hero" game. The companies of Red Octaine and Harmonix delivered Rock & Roll to the young people of today (I should know, I'm one of them) through commercial and interactive means. By giving us a reason to like the music, we fell in love with it, discovering the potential of the rockers from the 50's through today, inspiring a new generation of rockers (Again, I would know).
