Dear gods...this game is like a freaking 'how to" for wanna be rapists. I don't think I could buy into the argument of "people who play this game won't actually do this"... one would need to be very disturbed in the head to enjoy this, and it would not be something I'd want said disturbed individual to have access to for the safety of anything with sexual organs.

I really hope they do not decide to carry this particular game in this country. No need to ban it, just don't carry it. Let's have a little societal decency over here. If a minor can have the potential to play it, let's make it a little harder for them to obtain. I'd rather not see the kids in this nation screwed up anymore than they already are.

Video game violence may not be to blame for every violent kid out there, but they are damn influential in a nation of ineptitude among parents. It would be very irresponsible for any vendor here to stock this game considering we all know it will be targeted to teens. Adults are not the targets of video game vendors in this nation. The rating system is a joke, most parents don't even understand it (that is sad) or acknowledge it. Why would any one want to make such a game available to children (it will happen) who don't understand why rape is wrong/illegal/horrific...how is this a good idea?

I wonder how much worse video game content can get...at least as an adult I know video game violence can help relieve stress so long as I don't attempt to emulate it in the real world. But kids like to mimic what they see...a little kid exposed to the wrong game could get in to some massive trouble.

This is not a game that will ever come into my home. Even if some jack a** lets it in the country, it will never get into my home. That much I can control.

The fact that this game has been made means it has to be made for all that freedom whatnots. But it still seems to be a rather disgusting game that makes my inner feminist want to scream. It's just as stupid game, but it doesn't do anyone any favors.

Here in Portland, we have (or had, I haven't seen them in ages) self-proclaimed Christian missionaries that would show up at events in town with sandwich boards saying that quite a number of peoples ("faggots", "dykes", "fornicators", etc) were going to Hell and doing so quite loudly. I'm torn... I'm all for free speech, and wouldn't want to impinge on their rights at all. On the other hand (and please bear in mind, I'm NOT a fighter), I want to punch 'em in the nose(s). *shrug* What'cha gonna do? wink

EDIT: And Thal? Parents don't understand ratings at all. Or just don't care. Coraline was rated PG (parental guidance suggested). Apparently the thought is that "PG" is now "G", and there will be nothing to worry their pretty (?) little heads. (There is a scene of an elderly vaudeville actress in pasties, which was played for humor.) You wouldn't believe how many people griped about that on the Fandango user reviews. The same people who say Watchmen wasn't good for their kids. No duh??? It's rated R for a reason, folks! Find out what you're watching!

Okay, just because it's a game doesn't mean it's for kids. There are plenty of adult games out there just like adult magazines.

Not to mention rape games are about fetish, not about hurting people per-say. I have a huuuuge rape fetish and this plays to my fantasy. I'm the kind of girl who asks to be tied down in bed.

Just because the game is not made for kids does NOT mean an idiotic adult isn't going to think "Oh video game!" and buy it for their teenage kid...who will in turn leave it lying about for his kid brother to find. Or similar.

And I don't care if it is serious or fetish, it still isn't something youth needs exposure to in this nation.

It's like buying a playboy for your teenage kid. And if the teenager is going to leave an adult game lying around they're weird because to me that's something you wouldn't do with nudie mags so why this game?

By your argument nudie mags and porno DVDs should be illegal too because some parents can't be responsible.

I never said make it illegal, I said don't bring it into the nation for sale here. Adults can still get it and it can be obtained legally, but it will make it harder for minors to get it.

As for parents doing the parenting...that would be nice, but these days way to many are failing at that task. I no longer rely on parents being able to parent. Generally those are the people who's kiddies get free candy from me...especially if I hear they are about to get on another international flight...heh, heh.

There are a whole bunch of self-righteous neighbors who wouldn't let thier precious snowflake children play with my little brother because we let him watch "violent" shows like Power Rangers rolleyes and play video games when apparently they never exposed their children to anything riskier than Scripture Story Memory game. Well I bet they are kicking themselves now because I have SEEN some of their loser kids, and my little bro just got back from a mission for our Church AND is pretty much the BEST guy I know.

So it rather annoys me when video game violence is blamed for everything.


HOWEVER.

My best friend was raped and so, those with rape fantasies will have to pardon me, just even reading about it makes me pretty sick to my stomach. I think if I saw it in a store I WOULD be sick. But then, they probably wouldn't have it out on a regular shelf.
