Chapter 1 Beginning

My name is Akkere, and I have faced things you never thought were possible. I have been shot out into space, survived a ship crash at 600 miles per hour, and even became a circuit box. It is unbelieveable that I am alive at all. I’m not sure how it all started (I have had my share of concussions) but I guess it started during my old job. I used to be an assistant for a bartender named Rakias. HYe was at the same time, my boss. But I also became friends with him later on. I worked at my job for over 3 years but that all changed when I met a man in a black hood. He came by in the bar one day and said he was looking for soldiers to join the fight against the factions that have the military pinned down. I of course, declined. The old man decided that he would check back later.
In the mean time, Rakias led me to a steel container saying that it has something I would need.
“Akkere, that old man had got me thinkin’ and well, I think you should join him with the military.” I was surprised to hear this and I decided top ask why. At least I was going to until he opened the boc. “I wasn’t always a bartender, I used to be a archeologist, and I had found many artifects in that lifetime.” Rakias was very secretive about his life and it surprised me how he chose now to start revealing. Although what did surprise me the most was what was in the steel container. Gleaming out was a shining jewel the size of a tool box. It shined a ruby red color that reflected on the metal.
“Akkere, this jewel came from the plane of Hell itself. I heard a myth that claims it has special properties that can… revitalize you.” I didn’t understansd what he meant. Was all this a joke? I couldn't think so, it semed to be real. The jewel gave off a heat sensation from exposure that it was enough to probe it.
“I’m giving you this if you decide to join. It will guarentee your survival in the battles to come.”
I knew I had no choice. I saw it in his eyes, Rakias wanted me to go, but question is, why? “Ok I guess but how does this stone hope to help me?” I said in a cautious voice. Rakias then handed me the jewel, and the minute I touched the surface was the minute everything had changed.

About the characters

Rakias: Rakias is a Matrixkin which is a animal that has taken a humanoid form. Rakias is a ratlike Matrixkin and he is of old age and has purple fur.

Akkere: *spoiler* He is the main character of the general story. He gains special powers that come from the crystal's origin.

Chapter 2 Rebirth

When I first came in contact with the crystal I felt as if I was on fire. It got bright with a red light and everything felt as if it were no more. Thump! II hit the ground then the light vanished. I started to examine my surroundings by looking up, and revealed a blood red sky with a black curtain like smoke. I looked down on the surface I landed on only to find a rocky surface that was like coal from the heat being emitted from it. I got up quickly and began exploring my surroundings.
“Hello mortal,” a haunting voice appeared out of nowhere and boomed across the area.
“Don’t be alarmed, just follow the stairs,” the voice continued. All of sudden the ground had shaken as if a category 4 earthquake had came. Pillars began emerging from the surface. BOOM! CRACK! At the highest pillar was door that looked as if it was carved in the surface. As I walked up the pillars I felt a sinking feeling in my stomach. Something wasn’t right. What was it about this place? And how did I get here? It was as if I had entered the plane of hell itself. I felt a vibration course through the ground and I looked back and realized the stone steps I passed were sinking down. No turning back. I reached the top step and saw the stone door. There was a strange symbol that was embroidered on the center of the door.

It looked like an upside down pyramid with a circle at the tip with a pupil like dot at the center. There were three lines that had made their mark on across the eye like part of the symbol. One crossed from the right, one from the left, and one crossed like a line of symmetry to the middle. The door opened and the symbol split in half. Suddenly, the pillars began to crack and I hopped off and into the door. It was like a portal of light.

I got up on my feet and looked around. It seems that I had stumbled in a sort of throne room. I looked straight ahead and saw a man in an iron like black chair with runes engraved all over the chair. I walked over to the man only to be greeted with a frown. The man had worn a crown over his head and a fang could be seen hanging from his mouth.
“Have you no respect?” The man said grinning at me in a strange way.
“I’d like to know where I am and how I got here” I said cautiously.
“Hmm… my, my, my you must be the one who found my little treasure.” The man spoken to me as if he put me in this place on purpose and I was ready to run out the room if it weren’t for the fact the door was sealed.
“That red crystal… what do you know about it?” I replied
“I know everything about it and I know for a fact that you are probably the one who came in contact with it and manage to be transported here because you’re either curious, or greedy,” the man replied with a grin. The man then got up from his throne and started circling around me as if he was setting a trap.
“I’m sure you have probably read some myths in your place and you probably know that there is a demon and a monster of chaos and destruction. You may also know that this place is the plane of Hell.” I didn’t understand what he was getting at. It all seemed like some joke but… is this place really what he told me, and if so why was I sent here? So many questions where the only answer could be from this man’s grin. Only one question could be answered; who or what is he?
“I sense your confusion, and I know that right now you are ready to bolt out of the room with haste in an attempt to escape. That is of course, hopeless,” the man said with an even bigger grin. Damn, he must’ve definitely locked the doors, or even set a trap. If worse comes to worse I will have to fight him. Suddenly, the room’s temperature had gotten up to an intense heat.
“Here’s a little secret I don’t share with just anyone… I’m the devil,”
That quote was reason enough to say this man was insane. But his grin turned to an evil blood curdling smile. His eyes wide open as if he was going to kill me on the spot.
“Don’t be alarmed, for you see I have a deal to make with you, I am going to give you some powers that came straight from me,” I knew there was going to be a catch so I quickly said the question
“What do you want in return?” I replied
“I want to see how a mortal like you can handle these powers and see how responsible you mortals can be. I do so hope though that you don’t end up killing yourself in the process like the others, after all, my powers take a while to recharge and it’s just such a waste.”
“The others?!” I thought to myself. Were these powers some twisted experiment to him? But, then I started to think, I realized that if I was going to fight in the war I may need these powers to help the good guys win. I knew I had no choice so I had to accept.
“Fine, I’ll take the powers, is there anything else?” I said in a reply.
Yes, you see there is actually an entire rule book of the devil’s crystal, also known as the red crystal you had came in contact with. In the book it states that every time you kill someone who has an impure soul you will gain credit for that soul and it will be on an account. In that account I will give you a special item that will make you more powerful” After hearing that I had a feeling this guy was right about being the devil. He seemed to have some sort of twisted cunning, and the way he looked seemed to evil. But was this some sort of a contest for power? It’s like he wanted me to be his personal reaper without me even knowing it. I guess this is how the crystal benefits him, he gets souls, and in return I get power.
Then like a light bulb my mind brightened with a thought. This part of the deal was to see how much power it would take for me to be consumed by it and become some sort of fiend. It was obvious now, and it seemed the Devil knew my thoughts. I had to be careful to barely think at all in this place. It’s his home, his castle, his empire. And in this Hell he has power over everything so I have to keep rebellious thoughts to a low down.
“Do we have a deal mortal? I won’t be getting used to calling you mortal after you agree of course.” The devil replied handing me the book.
“D…De…Deal…” I said very hesitantly. After that the last thing I saw was a grin from the Devil, and everything went red again. Last words I said before I left were…
“NOT AGAAAAAAAAAIN!!!”

Chapter 3 Awakening

I felt myself hit the tiled floor. I coughed up some blood, and then got up on my feet.
“Akkere, there you are, did you see him? Did you see the devil?” I knew that voice, it was Rakias’.
“Yes I saw the Devil, mind telling me what the hell that was all about?!” I was angry, at Rakias for not telling me what the crystal was, at the crystal itself, and at all this mystery. I saw Rakias noticed my anger and he backed up a few steps.
“Akkere, I know I should’ve told you but if I did then you wouldn’t have came in contact with the crystal. Can’t you understand that?” These words just ignited my anger even more; I felt as though I could strike him a single punch and I wouldn’t care.
“I can’t, I can’t understand because I’m angry at you for lying to me, for not telling me what the hell that crystal was and just carelessly sending me out onto the plane of hell itself and made me face the devil himself without even telling me a single detail. And I come back here coughing up blood, mind filled with rage and you go talking me about understanding?” I clenched my fists; it was very tough to hold back even a single punch. Rakias saw this and started backing up even more. I felt the fear, he knew I was infused with the Devil’s powers, and I think that was probably why I was so angry.
“I’m sorry, but I also see you now have the Devil’s powers, now what are you going to do with them?” Rakias said staring at me with curiosity. I couldn’t be any angrier with that statement being. But I couldn’t hold it back. I slammed my fist on the bar counter.
CRACK! A large dent was left in the wooden counter and my hand stinged with pain. Rakias then knew he went too far and backed up even more until he hit the wall.
“I know what you want me to use the powers for and I think your pushing your luck way too far Rakias, I demand that I get some answers NOW!” As I yelled it felt as if the place had shaken.

“Very well then, what do you wish to discuss?” Rakias sat down in a wooden chair.
“I want to know why me, why was I the one who had to have the devil’s powers and not you,”
“I couldn’t, apparently when I came in contact with the crystal only humans were allowed to have the abilities of the devil for some reason. I chose you because I thought you would be more trustworthy with the powers than any other human I know or have already met and I do think that you have earned these powers.” I was a little calm now as I got the answer, but it wasn’t quite what I had hoped for.
“Why did you keep the crystal instead of leaving it at its tomb?” I asked
“Because I was afraid someone else would get to it and they would have caused destruction, these are dark times Akkere and we are already in the middle of a big war. I had a rival who was trying to find that same crystal and I read the myth about it and I know what those powers are and I know that I couldn’t let my rival have it.” Everything was starting to make sense now but there were still a lot of questions but there was one important one.
“Why do you want me to join the military and fight?”
“Because, I believe that if you truly are the most trustworthy with the crystal and that these are the dark times to use then I believe that you should go and fight alongside and defeat the factions.” This all seemed like something from a stupid myth book. Basically Rakias was telling me I was like some sort of chosen one. I didn’t like it because I hated that fact.
“Fine, I guess I have no other choice, but if I ever do come back alive from this you will owe me big.” After that last sentence I left the room and packed by bags. I put on my long coat but then I took a quick look in the mirror.
“No way” I saw that my appearance had changed. My hair went from a black to red and my eyes were red but were turning to teal again. I didn’t believe it but I thought it was probably from the devil’s crystal. Right before I left I felt something in my back pocket. I pulled it out and saw that it was actually a guide book to the devil’s crystal and everything I needed to know about it.
HONK, HONK! “It was the recruitment truck, it usually comes and takes those who had enlisted to the closest HQ. I put everything else I needed in my bag and walked out the door only to be stopped by Rakias who was trying to say good bye.
“Akkere, good luck on the battlefront, and please come back safe.”
I then left after saying good bye. I would’ve stayed longer if I had known that was the last time I would see him.

Chapter 4 Transport

It was raining today but it was a good thing the truck had a rain cover. I looked around and took a look at everyone in the truck. There was a man on the left side wearing black long coat. He had the hood over his head therefore covering his face. I looked on my right and saw another man with white, short cut hair. He was still young though but unfortunately I couldn’t continue looking because he sensed me watching. In response, he shot an intense glare at me that made me turn my look away and face the floor.
All of sudden, a flash came by and immediately I was in another room. I looked up and saw the so called “Devil”.
“Good afternoon Akkere, I trust your day has been good?” He said as if he knew what had happened. He had the same old laid back mood, and I would think he’d be more serious.
“What do you want?” I asked in a low voice, I was a little impatient and annoyed at the sudden drop in.
“I noticed you were entering the job of a soldier and I almost forgot to give you this. “ The devil handed me a red crystal with a black chain necklace attached to it.
“What is this, and why do you choose now of all to tell me this?” I asked. I knew I had to keep my cool because I knew that this guy was no coward. For all I knew he could have probably set up the whole crystal thing as a trap just so he would get his hands on my soul.
“It’s part of the regulations with my crystal, and please, call me Larynx.”He replied. I took the crystal and stared at the endless red reflecting from its surface. I felt an unusual presence coming from the crystal. It was like it was being confused on my very soul as it glittered and glowed.
“Are you still here?” Larynx interrupted. I looked up and saw Larynx pulling a large box
“In this box, is a treasure of power” Larynx opened the box and revealed marble like spheres each with their own color and size.

“There a mini arsenal and each one have a unique power that will aid you greatly on the battle front. Right now you have something called a soul account which will be used to mark the souls you have released from the bodies of the humans or creatures in the community of your galaxy. You can use these as a currency to buy these marbles.” It seemed like most of this was a game to get the most powers. I knew he was trying to give me a reason to kill and in a way work for him.
“Being that you are the recipient of the Devil’s crystal I think you should receive the crystal shard and this” Larynx handed me a black marble.

“Well then with that being said I bid you farewell and hope you crack some skulls, don’t forget to read the manual, most idiots don’t and now there all dead.” Larynx then waved at me and all of a sudden a flash came and I was back in the truck, everything was as it was before. I searched my pockets and found the book and the black marble. The book had a solid red cover with golden letters that embroidered the term “The guide to the devil’s crystal” I opened the book and began reading.
