I write existential poetry in my spare time. A strange hobby, I know, but it works for me. Here's one of my more recent ones. I wrote this about a week ago, I think.
REAPER MAN
The Reaper Man's coming,
The Harvest is nigh
The Reaper Man says,
"Now it's time that ye died."
Despite preparations and intricate plans,
Prepare yeself now for here comes Reaper Man.
No man can escape him,
But many still try.
The Reaper Man's coming
The Harvest is nigh.
Though ye run far away and dive deep in the sea,
Prepare yeself now: Reaper Man comes for thee.
The Reaper Man's here now,
The Harvest's arrived,
The stalk is cut down,
And the fields now shall die.
The Reaper Man's come and the Reaper Man's done
The Harvest is finished and black is the Sun
The Reaper Man's gone now,
gone back with no sound
The Reaper Man's gone
and ye sit in the ground.
Though ye run and ye hide from the Reaper Man's sword,
The Reaper Man comes, and he'll wait now no more.
