K comes from Kilo, which is the prefix used in the metric system to mean a thousand. It is now used as shorthand in money - I've heard it used for American dollars as well. Twenty years or so ago, they might have said "Twenty grand" to mean twenty thousand, and abbreviate it 20g.

But, the colloquial terms have shifted, so 20k = 20,000
and in Gaia, the g stands for gold, so 20g is only twenty.

So if your friend will work for 20k but thinks that 10k is too much, she is the confused one. wink

My thoughts exactly. Why doint you ask her what she means by 20k, and if she is confused, then show her this thread.

Think of the "K" as "thousand" after the number preceding it. For example; when I see 15K I would think "fifteen thousand gold" or when I see 100K I would think "one hundred thousand gold." It's not faulty, and that's exactly what it means on Gaia. It's shorthand.

K=Kilo=Thousand. A kilogram is a thousand grams. It gets confusing when people start using 1000K which is 1 mil.
