Really dumb question, but...

I know this sounds like a dumb question, but I need a little help with my iPod/iTunes. I have a few too many songs on my iTunes, and it is causing some problems with my computer and memory and so on. So I want to remove a few files but don't want to loose them off my iPod. So the question is this: If I take files out of my iTunes folder and delete them, will they be automatically removed from my iPod the next time I sync it or will the files stay on my iPod?

I don't think the files will be removed off my iPod, but I don't know, so I figured I'd ask...because I'd hate to find out I was wrong after removing a lot of files. That would be really bad.

Hm...I guess if anyone else has technology questions, this is the time to put forth your queries. No one is going to sound as un-with it as I just did!

Uh I think they disappear...which is dumb.... but don't quote me on that.
I've wondered the same thing but haven't actually gotten around to testing it properly.

Turn off auto sync in Edit -> Preferences -> Devices.
When you plug in your ipod, click on your ipod and check the box that says "manually manage music".
After that, you can just drag and drop single files on and off your ipod.
