Look at me now...
Hymn & Cada
Sojo & Possibly Marius (sp?)

------------------------------------(remake)

The road was wide leading off from Amies town center, it was bricked and commonly crowded with people. Off the three branching roads several others winded through creating small neighborhoods or leading off into the country side away from the docks. Even on a day clear as this not many people walked off one narrow road leading off a branching travel road. This "alley" as it was more commonly referred to as was only about as wide as two people and at the end of the long dark path was an iron gate that led entrance onto a small property.

The man who had sold the property to Hymn and Sojo referred to it as a 'Hidden Value'. He had said at one point Amies had many of these secret houses but nowadays only a few historic ones were left. The houses were built straight back into other buildings so it looked like half a house was sticking out of a brick wall. Of course there was no back yard, but a small front yard received a little sunlight when it was around the noon-ish hours.

Hymn only investigated the house as he pulled his luggage through the iron gates. They were small and silent. He was scared one night he would get lost on his way to the house since the path was so dark, but Sojo promised Hymn that a plague posted on the outside of a building showed that there was a house down here, if you believed it that is.

The teen only scuffed his shoes throwing them off when he stepped onto the house wide porch and followed his guardian into the house. The outside looked like an antique, and the inside was much smaller than their old house but still just as pretty. The few windows looked into the front yard but mainly collectibles Sojo had been moving in resided along the walls and shelves around the main room.

"To your left is the living room which leads straight into the kitchen and dinning room off the back. A library is to your right after you pass through a small den. As you see a staircase leads upwards. Upstairs the second door on the left is yours, there's a big window, a few shelves but it's mainly renovated as much of the interior of this house is." said Sojo trying to accuratly point as his head was dipped down in a box.

Hymn only laughed and though about the letter he'd send to Cada about where they lived and hoped the small boy had gotten it. Smiling he carefully made his way up the stairs to his new room since they no longer lived in the forest.

His room was a decent size, plenty of room and arranged nicely. The door was on the left side of the room looking straight out at a large window when you entered. A nook in the wall on the far right hid a desk and shelf. Straight to your right even was a bed with folded sheets at the end. Obviously someone had been expecting them.

Hymn only grew a bit happier and yet annoyed as he began pulling all his luggage out, he still didn't want to move, but now this is where they belonged, in the city.

When the dust finished unpacking he rushed back downstairs, past Sojo, and outside where he stood looking at the small "alley" leading up to their house, it wasn't as dark as he thought, and their yard wasn't either, they were both well lit by the sun and the seemingly endless walk from the street was only a couple hundred feet.

Interesting what the mind can do. Hymn only shrugged and went back inside at Sojo's call all the time thinking about his last meet with Krinn, and his last game with Cada. Oh how long it had been.

Cada had read the note over and over until he finally got up and out the door. With Marijus drunk on the couch there was no need for his guardian to know his whereabouts, considering he was older now, more matured and easily a bit more dangerous to the doctor's wellbeing and health if spent with long exposure to his presence. Now was as good a time as any to go exploring and perhaps along the way he could reunite with an old friend.

Pounding the pavement with eager steps, Cada followed the instructions to the new home his beloved Hymn was suppose to have moved. No more long walks in the forest and secret meetings. They would have to meet in this new place, in town even but that only made Cada happy as he had wanted to be closer to his friend. His companion.

Standing at the end of the narrow alley, he saw what he thought was a house or was it? He couldn't be sure. Tucking his lavender tresses under a familiar hooded coat, he stuffed his hands in his pocket a tattered but familiar stuffed toy held loosely at his elbow remained in place as he walked slowly up the walk. Was this truly the right place? Had he been mistaken?

Glowing hazel eyes blinked a few times as a soft pink of excitement colored the once child - now teen's features. He was taller, rounded, and had some features he lacked as a child. Build even. Though he was still lanky and held that sickly beauty that only Cada could. With every step forward down the alley his heart beat fast, his mind going a mile a minute. Would Hymn recognize him? Would he approve of his growth? Would he turn the teen away at the mere sight? So much to worry over and yet there was little time for him come to a final thought. When he stopped in front of the gate part of him wanted to turn tail and run... try again later. The other part kept his feet frozen in place, his eyes transfixed on what could be the doorway to a dear friend.

"Hymn?" His voice broke the serene silence around the alley. Birds seemed to come alive from their perches on rooftops and trees that were nearby. His voice had cracked, turning from the soft innocence of a child to a boyishly charming voice that showed hints of the man just under the surface. Clearing his throat he spoke again once more, another soft crack... "Hymn?" He could only hope he was at the right place as he hugged Mr. Happy to his chest burying his face in the crook of the toy's neck hiding the anticipation spread in deep red across his cheeks. He wanted to see him... so much! "HYMN!!!" He called once more loud enough for anyone within earshot.

The teenage dust had been unpacking a dusty box when the birds fluttered off the tall maple that stood outside the house. Hymn only looked up than leaned back over the box feeling the wooden floors shift loosely with his movement. A moment more and the dust had an antique in his hands and he heard a voice. Puzzled he moved into the frame of the front door and looked out. A moment more and he heard his name being called by a taler figure in the alley, but the toy in the person's arms wasn't covered in shadows and he recognized it.

Hymn broke with a smile throwing the antique at Sojo who already grumpy caught the artifact in a steady string of curses will he recognized the voice that had called Hymn. He only smiled as the taller dust sped out of the house leaping off the porch and through the iron gates. Within a moment he had his arms draped tightly around the familar dust's shoulders. He was taller, prettier, even more of a dream then Hymn had ever expected.

Both of them lingered in a hug for a moment but Hymn pulled back examining his companion and smiled."I've been waiting, welcome to our new home," he smiled taking the dusts hand and leading him inside without any room to talk. The introduction to the house was brief before the two were up the narrow stairs in Hymns unpacked bedroom.

The dust couldn't hold the questions any longer and as he drew the shades and pulled of the helmet he looked at Cada who seemed just as ansy."Where have you been, when did you grow so much, how is Marijus?" he asked all at once before noticing he was leaving no room for his fellow friend to speak. Laughing he tucked his hands in his pocket and leaned up against the door with a casual smile.

The teen could only giggle in a fit of short breaths as he was hugged tightly. Seeing the familiar helmet and the figure who wore it sent a wide grin to his fade. He embraced the other only for a moment before he was led inside. This did not bother him, with a quick wave to Sojo they were already up the stairs to Hymn's room.

When all was said and done, Cada giggled again, still as youthful as ever but proud of his growth despite the few apprehensive notes.
"I'm sorry Hymn, Marijus was sick and I had to run away... but he's doing better now. Still drinking his life away in the process though. And well I've grown!" He preened laughing into the soft fur of his toy. "Mr. Happy says hi, he has missed you too!"

"When isn't that man drinking?" teased Hymn sitting beside Cada and giving him a hug and Mr. Happy a pat. It seemed as if Cada was about Hymn's height if not a bit shorter, it still made Hymn happy to know his friend had grown. Looking at Cada in the eyes he smiled, he was so beautiful and even behind this mask Hymn's eyes saw everything.

When their eyes met the dust pushed off his helmet bearing with the light and pulled Cada into a small kiss blushing as he pulled away, his heart was beating so fast and his body seemed all hyper now, like it wanted to just run away with this feeling. Hymn smiled and stood up pulling something Hymn had found a while back for Cada.

"I found this for you, I think you'll enjoy it, it's a necklace, if you don't mind them?" he asked apprehensively looking at his partner sitting on the bed. The teenage Cada still looked so innocent but when their eyes met Hymn could see deep down nothing had changed, the feelings were still the same.

Cadaver was always filled with giggles and smiles. Continuing to hold on to his innocence despite all else. He had grown in mind and body but he was still as youthful and carefree as ever. Hugging his companion he nuzzled close to him and enjoyed the kiss blushing softly under the darkness of his skin.

Still smiling he eyed the necklace curiously looking at it with blinking eyes before reaching a hand out to take hold of it with affection and admiration for his friend.
"It's so pretty... isn't it Mr. Happy?" The toy wouldn't respond aside from falling forward on his lap as Cada twirled the sparkling chain around. "I love it, Hymn!" He exclaimed happily.

Hymn smiled and slowly took the chain from Cada. The dust slid behind his companion and spreading his legs around a quick hug followed by him sliding on the necklace completed the act of giving the gift. "I found it down near the shore one day, it looked like it had washed up. Sojo says it's not worth much, but with the way it shined after I cleaned it I'd say otherwise." he smiled.

As the birds chirped outside Hymn's window he walked over and opened it letting the air breathe into the musty room. "Sorry for having moved suddenly, Sojo was getting tired of the forest, he likes the city life- and he misses his companion." Hymn noted remembering Hale, they made one another so happy but Sojo said he hadn't seen him in a while.

Hymn guessed his guardian had been looking but instead of acting sad he tried to be happy. Sighing the dust turned to Cada and smiled. "Would you like to go on a walk with me?" he asked.

It was a nice day anyways- and Sojo would be cleaning all day.

Admiring his new necklace Cada smiled bright, enjoying the present as much as the company. A walk sounded wonderful at this point to which Cada responded, "Yes I'll go with you on a walk." It was a simple reply.

With his guardian at work and it seemed Sojo would be indoors for most of the day. Hymn could use the walk to get used to the new territory. It would help Cada get used to it as well for more visits when the dust was less busy. Hymn was always busy but that didn't stop the pestilence dust from wanting to see his friend and enjoy his company. "Can we go to the market and get some snacks?" he prodded hoping to spend a fairly good day with his companion.

Hymn smiled, Cada was always the talkative one. It seemed to still be that way, even now.

It had been a while since he'd set eyes on the dust but smiling, he nodded. Their bodies crossed into the flooding light of the street and quickly they vanished together into the crowd.

After a while both dusts had made it to the market with humored expressions on their faces. Hymn had been pointing at people and whispering comments in Cada's ear about how weird, angry, or just out of place some of them looked. Especially since Aimes was a very busy town.

"Where would you like to eat, there are hundreds of stalls and many stores."
he examined looking around just one of the five market streets. It was a large opening in town, but the stalls and random stores seemed to form more street like spaces.
