Watching TV, doesn't relax me but I need to have it on to go to sleep at night if not my thoughts wander and I don't like my thoughts when they wander.

I like to doodle aimlessly, read books all snuggled in bed, or take a bubble bath and then immediately afterwards going to bed~~~
To key down before going to sleep, I do either logic problems or the New York Times crosswords. If I don't do SOMEthing, even if I've been falling asleep on the couch, I'll be there staring at the clock for an hour or more. smile

I... really don't do anything. Sure I'll play some video games when I get in a bad mood, and the mental exercise is usually enough to take my mind of things. And yes, reading does relax me more than it probably should. But the thing I do to relax the most, with the least amount of falling asleep, is probably taking a long, hot shower. I put the heat up to as high as I can stand and just let it wash everything away.
My methods of calming down aren't particularly... "creative". I read, I write, I doodle, I listen to music, I spend time with friends... sweatdrop
Actually... I took up running as a way of calming down a few months ago... Took a bad night to inspire it, but I'm kind of glad I came across it. It's not just steady jogging; it's full-on sprinting. So, I've built up a decent amount of agility~. All alternatives considered, it's a lovely way to empty my head.

I was thinking of something I could put in this thread, and it struck me just now: the times when I'm most at peace would have to be when I'm plotting some story in my head. I can live there in that space for a while, embody a character, or simply view a scene like a movie, and I can pull the story the way I want it to go, and I always know the outcome for better or for worse.
