Just started playing about a week or two ago.
I saw some people with different color skins and got all confused.
Asked some people to tell me what it was.

... No one helped. So I joined the guild that was under someone's post. smile

And that all depends on what color the skin was ;D
This guide has alot of skins

There are some skins missing in that guide, but you can go to tektek where yo can make a dream avatar. Here
And when you get to items you can choose skins from the drop down menu on the right, named "item type"
And there you can try them all on to see what kind of skin it was.

Most skins are granted by body dye or special items, but you can get some through potions as well.

You can purchase some of them in the Skin Tyte shop; others, you'll need to purchase in the marketplace.

And if you are making a dye, you need 500inks (or 250white 250black for the grey one) and about 20k gaia gold. So they aren't exactly cheap :/
But if you have alot of time on your hand, you can walk around in towns catching bugs, that you can make into inks XD

i wonder how many bugs of one color it takes to make one body dye...

You need to have a trading pass (which means that you'll have to have been a member for 3 days, and then purchase one) to buy in the marketplace. I would choose one active, experienced player to go to with any questions on Gaia. Make them your mentor. Make sure that they are willing first.
