"SO WHERE ARE WE GOING?"
"To get my cast off."
"WHY?"
"Because it's time for me to either get an air cast, or at most a nice brace. It's been long enough that most of the bones in my foot should have healed at least a little, so I would like to be rid of this awkward addition to my body."
" . . . BUT HOW DID YOU BREAK YOUR FOOT?"
Such had been the way that the day started, and such was the conversation that echoed down the hall as Jarett tried to walk into the clinic, a bundle of questions following behind him and chattering at an astounding rate. Rindou had been full of questions since the very moment he woke up that morning, wanting to know about anything and everything that came to his mind. Jarett wasn't even sure how they'd managed to get out of the house without having to stop for Rindou to catch his breath, but to his own credit the boy hardly spoke as they made their way through the town - in fact he was eerily quiet.
Never one to look a gift horse in the mouth Jarett hadn't commented on it and instead made the pair move faster, their destination finally reached and everything signed it. It was when his name was called that the questions had started, and Jarett did his best to refrain from shouting at the dustling and telling him to be quiet. Everything was knew, he understood that, but there was a time for silence. Pretty much all the time, but still.
The pair entered the room silently, Rindou having grown quiet as though he once again were trying to learn something, and as Jarett sat down he gave the string on his arm a slight tug. Rindou obediently moved over and held his hand out, stopping at Jarett's side and placing his fingertips against the man's arms.
"Hello again Doctor, Cada. Good to see you."
His voice was pleasant, and so was the smile on his face. Rindou still said nothing.

Rindou was not prepared to be touched by anyone, and a soon as a set of hands descended upon his own his whole body reacted quickly. The color, were there any, quickly drained from his cheeks and he rose a bit off the ground - stopping at about six inches. When the older boy had finally been pulled away Rindou still was slightly nervous, both of his hands pressed against Jarett and his lips parted slightly with childish worry.
" . . . . . . "
He still did not speak, hardly knowing what to think, and Jarett reached over to ruffle his hair in a rare show of affection. It was funny to think that his loud child was so timid when placed in somewhere new without the feel of outdoors, but he wasn't going to push the issue. The boy was already floating as it is and he didn't need anything else in the room to be joining them any time soon.
"To answer questions in the order that they have been given, I am doing well and thank you for asking. His name is indeed Rindou, and he grew a little over a week ago? As for colors, it's a touchy issue I would rather you did not mention at the moment, as you can see he is wearing a blinder."
Jarett paused as Rindou's fingers seemed to tighten against him at the word 'color', though another pat on the head seemed to calm him.
"As for pain, I had to have my cast replaced about a week ago, around the same time this fellow appeared. I managed to fall from my ceiling and crack the plaster. Every now and then because of that incident I have some pain, but it is nothing too discomforting."
