Changing it so Rindou could breathe wasn't going to help calm the dust down, nor would the words of some stranger he just met who felt like touching. In fact it might have made things a bit worse, Rindou's panic-induced weight almost doubling from the already staggering amount he'd set it at. The pair would have plummeted faster down in the water-warped-into-air.

Of course the panic only lasted a minute and Rindou shrugged the hand from his shoulder, taking the breath as instructed. Almost as soon as the air hit his lungs his weight reversed and so did the direction he was using his gravity on, propelling him upwards just as quickly as he'd been sinking. If Hymn was still holding on (or had reached back and grabbed on) then he got brought along - if not, he was left behind. Either way Rindou broke the surface of water and moved back into the air all the while coughing and sputtering. The smell and taste of salt clung to him like a bad blanket, and he vigorously shook himself in an effort to knock it off.

". . . BLECH."

Whatever illusion he might have been trying to play on himself didn't work. In fact, Hymn found himself even more nervous than usual when he was deserted under the weight of pressured water and churning currents. He couldn't fool anyone. Not at this point.

Opening his mouth to call out to Rindou, Hymn felt the water swell in to his mouth and some of the salty liquid make it's way into constricted lungs. The pulse that ran through Hymn's head began to pound harder as his arms grew weaker from a frantic effort to swim to the the water's surface.

For the first time in his long lifetime, the dust felt vulnerable to weakness. He felt as if his magic wouldn't get him out of this situation, and as if for the first time- he might actually be seen as weak. He had tried for so long to maintain an upstanding image with the dustlings, to use his power and amaze them with what theirs might one day hold. Although unknowingly to them, and even himself, he had begun to exhaust what energy his body had stored up.

Now, he was powerless. No illusion or defensive tactic could save him from the swelling surge of force that was pressing in on his body. He had to be at least fifty feet under water, if not more. The sun was no longer clearly visible; the only thing he saw was darkness below him.

For once, he knew he needed help, or else he might face death directly in the face.

Rindou.
