Well...this was it.
Her father's old teepee was more ragged and run-down than she remembered it. It had been kept in working repair, but signs of age were evident, and the entire structure smelled of humans. Snorting softly, Akila nosed the unfamiliar items, the furs and blankets that she hadn't seen the likes of since her father had first invited her here as a young mare. She'd have to get used to it...for a little while, this would be home.
Helaku had been saddened by her decision, but accepting. He had seen Tsani's absence wear on his daughter more and more with each passing day, watched the faint hollows under her eyes and the ribs beneath her coat appear and grow more visible. Realizing what was happening to herself, she had decided that Tsani's return wasn't happening soon enough to salvage their relationship. So she had asked of the use of her father's teepee, wishing to be alone to nurse her wounds. Without hesitation he had agreed, letting her know that he and any family members that wished to follow would make their way there as well, albeit more slowly.
But for now, she had the place to herself, and with a sigh Akila flopped down on the horse-sized pile of bedding. At this point, she didn't care if a human showed up. As long as they didn't bother her too much, they were welcome to share the place. Making herself comfortable, she settled in for a long, desolate night.
But first...
Reaching down to her left foreleg, she bit at the supple leather strap that bound a pair of snowy white feathers to her ankle. As the trinket fell to the ground, she nodded. Now it was truly over.
