A selfish man, Lindsay Lovell would never think to help anyone if he did not benefit from it somehow, and though his son cannot say that he doesn't occasionally find that his benevolence is rewarded, that reward is not what he's after. Rather, he wants to be reminded that he is a better man than his father.
VENGEFUL xxx»» He does not take well to being betrayed in any sense; in his mind, he has no time for those he cannot trust. He has faith in few people, and if someone proves they were unworthy of his trust, he will not rest until they are made to regret it. He doesn't know what it is like to have someone at his side or who has his back, but he still somehow manages to find a knife there more often than he likes. He is unforgiving in these instances and will do whatever he can to make the traitor pay.
SOPHISTICATED xxx»» Leslie was raised to be the face of his father's company once the man saw fit to retire; as such, it has always been important that he comport himself with grace. His blood status was never known when he was in school because the way he held his head spoke of breeding and class, the way he chose his words belied a noble background. CHILDHOOD xxx»» Les was the first and only son born to the Lovell's, an affluent muggle family. His mother fell ill shortly after his birth, so his only memories of her involve private doctors and medical equipment in her bedroom. Still, he always felt closer to her than his father, who began grooming him to take over the family company almost as soon as he could read and write. His father was a distant, imposing figure, someone he feared. His mother, on the other hand, was always loving. When she passed away mere days before his eighth birthday, he was devastated. His father, who had always blamed him for her illness, grew even more distant, almost hostile. Their relationship grew steadily more strained over the next few years. It reached a point where, whenever they would fight, strange, inexplicable things would happen. Things would go flying, catch fire, an endless stream of oddities. It remained unexplained until his eleventh birthday, when he received a letter.
SCHOOL YEARS xxx»» At first, being sent away to Hogwarts was like a dream. He was free from his father, learning about an entirely new world, things he never could've imagined. But, when he went home for the holidays his first year, his father insisted that he tell him everything about the school. The more Les told his father, the more intrigued the man became. From that point on, whenever Les was home, his father continued to teach him about running the family business, with the hope that his magical education would prove an asset to the company's future. Les grew to both love and hate his time at Hogwarts, despising that even this was being treated as another stepping stone towards the future his father had laid out for him but ecstatic to be away from the man.
ADULTHOOD xxx»» After graduating, Leslie felt powerless to go against his father and deny his wishes. Though he certainly had other options, he found it difficult to break away. Having been raised and trained to run his father's company from birth, he saw no alternative that would truly suit him. He took the position his father offered and worked to achieve high standing within, though he refused to use magic in any way to help the company, which angered his father greatly. The two rarely speak outside of the office, and even more rarely do they do so without fighting. xxx»» On an outing one night (for lack of anything better to do), Les happened to overhear a conversation that captured his attention. He wasn't entirely sure why, since it wasn't any more interesting than the scores of others he'd heard, but he supposes he'll chalk it up to fate, since upon interjecting himself, he became acquainted with the Whitethorne twins. Chalmes, the eldest, quickly became his best friend and drinking buddy, the pair spending more nights than not out on the town, and his social circle expanded to include Chalmes' friends in turn. They had a good run of it, until Chalmes found himself saddled with a two year old he hadn't known he'd fathered. Les did his best to be supportive of his friend, and their nights out became nights in, generally drinking beers and playing video games. xxx»» However, finding himself lacking a wingman, Les had less opportunities to go out and scratch his favorite itch. He'd already begun sleeping with Tassy, one of the friends he'd made through Chalmes, and the nights together became more and more frequent, corresponding with his decreasing desire to go out and work for a hook up. The two maintained that their relationship was strictly for fun, and it was almost convincing, until he found himself in the middle of a scandal. A woman who ran in the social circles he was subjected to through his father had tricked him into a one night stand, and ended up pregnant with his child. She'd intended to force him to marry her, but instead he'd sued her for custody of the child, a baby girl he named Ridley. Tassy took on the role of surrogate mother, and began spending more and more time in his home, until their refusal to admit they were a couple wasn't so much funny as it was pathetic. xxx»» Eventually, the tension culminated in a fight, sparked by his younger half-sister revealing to Tassy that Chalmes' brother Chris and his wife Adalaide, who Tassy considered a good friend, were both vampires. The fight ended abruptly, with them both having said things that they shouldn't have, and a few that they should have said ages ago. A month later, Les came by her home to attempt to patch things up. The following months felt, at least to him, like he was walking a tight rope. Their final admission that they were, in fact, a couple, combined with his knowledge of her commitment phobia, led him to be overly cautious in advancing their relationship, in spite of the fact that he wanted to. In the end, Tassy became impatient, at least, that's what he assumed happened. Some time after finally officially moving into his home, she confronted him with paperwork she'd had his lawyers draw up behind his back, for her official adoption of Ridley, and their marriage. Surprised, but not the least bit bothered, Les signed both gladly, and prayed that things would get less complicated as a result, as vain as he knew those prayers might be.

When she makes a mistake, she is quick to correct it, doing so immediately rather than forcing herself to backtrack later on.

If she is entrusted with a secret, she will take it to her grave, provided the person who shares it is worthy of her loyalty. "Worthiness" is something she concerns herself with greatly, and she considers it one of the most valuable traits in a person. If one has earned her trust and affection, she is a staunch ally. By the same token, she takes her values very seriously. She isn't stubborn by any means, but her morals are quite important to her, as are her opinions. INVENTIVE xxx»» Cleverness seems to be a genetic trait on her biological father's side; it is also one valued greatly by her mother and stepfather, both of whom are quite proud of how creatively Lori solves problems. She is excellent at finding an unusual solution to a problem that leaves others scratching their heads; oftentimes, her solution does the same, and she finds herself having to break it down for people who can't understand how she got from Point A to Point B.
AWKWARD xxx»» Social graces have never been one of Lori's strengths. While she's exceptionally observant, she tends to overthink interactions with people. She gets very caught up in the minute details of body language and word choice and the like to try and decipher a hidden meaning in what's being said to her. She has trouble connecting to people on an emotional level, being so logic driven herself, and while she can generally understand why a person feels the way they feel, she tends to fail at empathy and sympathy. She knows she has these flaws, which unfortunately only makes things worse; her hyper-awareness leads to her overthinking, which leads to long silences and rambling explanations when she feels she's made a mistake.

CHILDHOOD xxx»» Lorelei was born of an affair between her mother Charlotte, a wealthy socialite, and Lindsay Lovell, a powerful businessman. Charlotte was only one of a series of affairs, and the only one to date which resulted in a child. Lorelei grew up knowing that her biological father was married to another woman, though he had gone through several other women over the course of her life. To date, he has had three wives since her birth. Lindsay remained a distant figure in her life, visiting on rare occasions to check in on her, and providing for her mother when it was needed, though this was rare. When Lori was four, her mother married her stepfather Emerson, who adopted her as his own. Of her three parents, she has always been the most fond of Emerson, who seems to love her more than both her biological parents combined. Her biological father never really showed much interest in her, at least until she received her Hogwarts letter. Emerson had been the only one she had entrusted with the knowledge of her unusual abilities, at least until she'd received the letter. At that time, her mother had tried to keep it a secret from Lindsay, but having been through a similar situation with his legitimate son Leslie, he caught on quickly that his daughter was magical.
SCHOOL YEARS
FIRST YEAR»» Lori found herself challenged in many ways her first year at Hogwarts; to begin with, she was constantly confounded by the blithe acceptance of magic by her classmates. Not that it existed, that she understood perfectly. What she didn't understand was how every single one of them seemed to be perfectly okay with not understanding how it worked. Analytical by nature, and a puzzle solver, Lori couldn't stand the uncertainty. In this, she found a companion, her housemate Gianna, who was similarly frustrated. The two girls proceeded to spend their year rising to the second, more literal challenge, a gauntlet of sorts thrown by Lori's elder brother to locate the various secret passages and hidden rooms about the castle. Lori was quite impressed with their progress, but worried about getting caught sneaking around as they reached the more difficult portion of the list. SECOND YEAR»» Lori's first year was followed by a calamitous event as the students attempted to return home. The village and train station were attacked, and she found herself in a desperate situation when she discovered that Gia had been hurt. Much to her surprise, a couple of her housemates, Carver and Tristan, rose to the occasion, and the four managed to sequester themselves in the backroom of the green grocer's to wait out the attack. The remainder of her Summer was blessedly uneventful, the most exciting portion of it being when her brother's... friend, insulted her mother and slammed the door in her face. Her second year was more of the same, frustration regarding the general apathy in regards to trying to understand how magic worked and hunting down hidden rooms in her spare time. This endeavor was helped by the acquisition of a lookout in the form of Tristan, who struck a deal with her; she would tell him any secrets she discovered, provided he stand guard while she searched. The arrangement worked quite well for her, though it did hit a snag. Through their close proximity to one another, Lori was unable not to notice a few odd things about the boy, and eventually put together he was a werewolf. Concerned that he might be angry with her for discovering his secret, she kept it to herself, until one day she slipped up and he realized she knew. They resolved things well enough, she supposes, but she still worries that he'll decide they are no longer friends due to what she views as a betrayal of his trust. THIRD YEAR»» Lori's third year of school got off to a rather slow start, with nothing seeming to happen. She continued on with her studies and her exploration of the castle, aided as always by Gia and Trist, who seemed to have forgiven her for discovering his secret. Over the holiday break, her brother took her with him to a wedding, claiming that she needed to be 'better socialized', knowing that there would be at least one of her schoolmates, Zephyros Whitethorne, in attendance, as Leslie was close to the boy's family. Lori ended up accidentally revealing to Leslie's not-girlfriend Tassy that their mutual friend Adalaide Whitethorne was a vampire, a fact she had discovered through simple observation and been under the assumption Tassy would have already known. Frustrated with herself, she retreated, and found herself spending the evening with Zeph, as well as Gia, and Avian, another schoolmate of theirs who happened to be cousin to the bride. Later that year, the school hosted a Valentine's ball. The combination of the wedding and the ball, as well as the relationship between Gia and their housemate Carver, had made Lori curious and confused in regards to her own preferences, romantically speaking, as she had not noticed herself showing any interest. As a test, she bid on Zeph at the ball's Date Auction, and the pair spent the evening together. At the end of it, she found herself still lacking any reaction, going so far as to kiss him goodnight to be certain. Knowing that one date wasn't definitive proof, she later asked Trist if he would be her second subject, suggesting they have dinner and watch a film together over the Summer. FOURTH YEAR»» Lorelei's fourth year passed uneventfully. She mainly focused her attention on her studies, knowing that OWL exams were coming up the next year. She wanted to do well, still not entirely certain what she wanted to do post-graduation, other than not fall into the same trap as her elder half-brother and end up working for their father. Knowing she needed to keep her options open, she didn't spend much time on extracurricular activities. However, over the winter holiday, she noticed that something suspicious was happening with her mother. By the end of the school year, she'd determined that her mother was having an affair with Lindsay. FIFTH YEAR»» Being home over the Summer holiday was torture, as Lori found herself in an uncomfortable position regarding her mother's affair, not wanting to hurt her stepfather by telling him. In an attempt to distract herself, she reached out to Zeph, hoping to meet with him and get out of the house. During the outing, she discovered that he suffered anxiety regarding the coming exams due to issues with reading and writing, and became determined to help him. She spent the remainder of her holiday distracting herself by researching learning disorders, eventually coming to the conclusion that he suffered from dyslexia. When the year started up, she confirmed her suspicions as best she could and began working with him so that he could hopefully pass his exams. She also, later in the year, grew tired of her best friend's insistence that she wasn't attracted to their housemate Carver, and his insistence that the reverse was also true. Not sure what else to do, given that the pair seemed intent on ignoring their mutual feelings, she enlisted the help of Zeph's friend Pam, who was notoriously invested in the romantic lives of her classmates, to help her trap them both in a broom closet until they could sort out their 'issues'. She grew to regret this course of action, though, when Pam took advantage of the time to needle her regarding her own relationship with Zeph. Lori told the girl that they were just friends, but Pam seemed unconvinced... and by the end of the conversation, Lori wasn't entirely certain, either. SIXTH YEAR»» Lori's father had planned to go to court with Charlotte over the Summer holiday, to divorce her and gain custody of Lori. Unfortunately, before the previous year was out, he suffered a mysterious medical affliction, and died shortly thereafter. Lori suspected foul play, and thus when she returned home, wanted nothing to do with either Lindsay, or her mother. The both of them had taken to skulking about her home, until finally her mother dropped the bomb; she was intending to sell the home, Emerson's home, and move them in with Lindsay. Lori, obviously opposed to this entire idea, chose instead to run away, spending the holiday hiding out at Tristan's. She spoke only directly to her brother for the remainder of the Summer, not wanting to be found. In the meantime, Leslie used a bit of trickery and legalese to purchase the property, intending to 'sell' it to his sister once she turned 18. Upon returning to school, Lori's life took a turn for odd; she made the mistake of choosing to sit with Zeph, rather than Tristan and the others at her own table. Pam, seeing this as an opportunity, proceeded to corner the both of them, attempting to get them to confess that they liked one another. Rather than admit it in front of the obsessive and prying Pam, Lori instead ran outside to avoid the confrontation. Zeph followed, and the pair actually did confess to liking one another. Then, not wanting to give Pam the satisfaction of being right and having had a hand in their getting together, they agreed to simply say nothing about their relationship, acting as normal until someone noticed, like it was a game. It amused her to no end, but eventually everyone caught on. SEVENTH YEAR»» Emerson Townsend's property having been successfully purchased, Lori returned to her real home the Summer before her final year at school. Carver moved in with her as well, not wanting to be kicked out of the orphanage when the time came, and because she'd asked most of her friend circle if they'd like to, since she had no desire to live in the house alone. The Summer was mostly uneventful, save her mother appearing on the doorstep one day to beg forgiveness and get back into her daughter's good graces. Unfortunately, Carver was the one to answer the door, leading Charlotte to jump to rather awkward conclusions regarding his relationship with her daughter. Lori, finding it funny and figuring her mother deserved it, didn't argue against the point overmuch, and did so very halfheartedly. Upon returning to school, her life became a blur of classes, studying, and sleeping, with Lori intending to do as well as she possibly could on her exams. Zeph had to literally pry her away from her books on several occasions. She would have calmed down once exams were over, but she realized she only had a few short weeks remaining to accomplish her goal of reading every book in the library. She took to skipping meals and even a few classes to try and finish as many of them as she could in the time she had left. It was in the middle of the fiction and literature section where Zeph eventually found her one day, interrupting her reading to propose. Lori was rather shocked, mainly because she'd always assumed Zeph would be the sort to wait for such things. But, she said yes, on the condition that he agreed to a few requirements she had beforehand, to test the durability of their relationship before they made such a commitment.
ADULTHOOD xxx»» As per her agreement with Zeph, once they had graduated, he moved into her house as a way to test whether or not their relationship was viable as a long-term investment, Lori not wanting to deal with a messy divorce a couple of years in when it turned out they had different opinions on furniture or something ridiculous like that. She also set up a small office for herself inside her home and got registered with the Ministry as a Spell Inventor, and began focusing on projects to help disabled witches and wizards navigate their lives. She also partnered with Avian Lovette to help him with his own business as a musician.

CHILDHOODRidley was the product of a scheme by her biological mother, Francesca, to get pregnant by Leslie Lovell in order to convince him to marry her. Leslie, while taking responsibility for the child, despite the fact Francesca had in fact plotted to cause the pregnancy by not taking birth control as she claimed and providing defective contraceptive. After having found out about Francesca's plotting, Leslie hired a lawyer and sued for full custody as he felt Francesca (rightfull so) was an unfit mother. Leslie won the custody of Ridley and now seeks the help of his friends Chalmes Whitethorne and Tassy Ellis in navigating being a decent father and not messing the process up (as he feels he is bound to do).

CHILDHOODTassy is the older twin and oldest daughter of Gerald and Jarai Ellis. She grew up in a large and loving household working alongside her parents and siblings at their establishments (mainly the Inn as their mother disliked the idea of children being in a bar) and unlike her older brother and youngest sister she and her twin did not develop magic and were in fact squibs.
SCHOOL YEARS
Not wanting his daughters to be discouraged by the development, he hired tutors to help them develop and grow in whichever areas they so chose. Tassy found an enormous love for music and threw herself wholeheartedly into the discipline of mastering an instrument. She also garnered a love of artful communications and literature while a hatred of maths mainly calculus and business ethics. Oh how she freaking hated business ethics.
POST GRADUATIONPushing herself and nearly loving every minute of it she and her twin were able to take their SQC's, the Scottish equivalent of the GSCE's at only 17 to graduate early so that they could move out to London with their older brother to start a new chapter in their lives. Her sister continued on her education at an university while quietly selling her artwork while she quickly got a day job at a music store in Diagon Alley while nightly taking musical gigs at known clubs. At her sister's insistence she also began taking nightly and online classes to help future job prospects. 2026~ So my twin is getting married and I'm happy for her, really! I guest...Idunno, I was hoping me and Shin would be somewhere by now! But I won't let my relationship woes get in the midst of my sister's happines!
2027~ Tanna's married and moved out leaving me with the flat and everything. Which is cool, I mean I miss her sometimes but it's not like we never talk or I never visit or anything. I may not like all magic but the floo is damn useful.
2028~ Tanna had her babies! Identical twin boys just like their Mum and favorite Auntie. Wow, it's so weird thinking of my twin as a mom but that's what she is now. And apparently this was the year of the pregnancy since Loki knocked up his girlfriend and now they're expecting a little bundle any day now. At the rate everything is going, I'm considering putting a few extra hours into my prayer schedule so I don't randomly end up up the duff without a man.
2029~Oddly enough it wasn't me who ended up with an unexpected delivery but Les! After some ploy by an heiress he ended up with a tiny baby girl of his very own which I'm helping raise....purely platonically of course.
2030~ Ridley's growing more everyday the cute little bugger and work was going alright until Austin decided to up and travel the world or something with Jinhai and leave me and the Lyre without so much as a wave. So I was feeling pretty down about the whole thing until Les tells me that he's bought the bloody place as an "investment" and gave it to me to run with him being a sort of landlord randomly coming in and investigating and s**t. It's pretty annoying because he knows I absolutely hate when he does huge s**t, especially gigantic s**t like this, but I'm still really excited about running my own music store. Fuuuuucckkk I owe him.
2031~ ********. Les and I had this godawful fight during the winter over something that wasn't technically any of his fault which sort of brought to light my real and true feelings for the ******** idiot which I delivered the grace and accountability of the ruddy Queen herself. Sarcasm love, pay attention. The tiff lasted for a good month, neither of us doing well, until he actually showed up to apologize and I vented about a year's worth of feelings onto him which he surprisingly reciprocated. So I guess we're together then. At least now I don't feel any guilt when Ridley calls me "mum." I didn't really have much to begin with, but now it's completely nonexistent.
2033~ I moved the ball into motion so now I'm officially Ridley's mother as well as married to the bald wonder Les himself. As the song goes, signed sealed, delivered, he's stuck with me.

INDEPENDENT xxx»» Ridley was always an extremely self-sufficient child, and grew into an equally self-sufficient adult. She does know that she has a cushion many people lack, which did provide her with the confidence to shoot for the stars. Still, it was always very important to her that, if she didn't have to earn what she had, she at least proved herself worthy of it. She doesn't live particularly lavishly or rely on her family money; she's content to donate the excess to charity and only keep what she needs. She rarely asks for help with anything, preferring to solve her own problems. If she hits a wall, she'll try coming at it from literally every angle she has before she admits she might not be able to overcome the obstacle herself.
CURIOUS xxx»» Ridley feels happiest when she is learning. What, it doesn't really matter, she just wants to be observing and absorbing new information. She picks things up quite easily, because whenever she is watching them done, she watches quite intently. She finds the simplest things utterly fascinating. You could stick her in front of an educational television program and be confident that she wouldn't budge an inch from the couch until it was over, and that's only if whatever was airing afterwards wasn't equally interesting (which it typically is). She likes to try things herself once she's seen them done, which results in a lot of quickly picked-up and abandoned hobbies.
CREATIVE xxx»» She has grown up around very clever, very creative people. As such, she is grew into being clever and creative as well. She's very witty, with a rather vast vocabulary that she utilizes to maximum effect. She likes to solve puzzles, and will oftentimes solve it the simplest way first, to prove she can, and then find more complicated, interesting solutions just to satisfy her own curiosity. She's also something of an artist, mostly musically thanks to her mum, but she also has an eye for color. She fancies herself an interior designer, and likes to change the arrangement of the furniture in her room frequently. Her first show of magic happened when she was five, when she dreamed a new color scheme for her bedroom and woke to find she'd altered the real room in her sleep to match.
EXPRESSIVE xxx»» Riddles wears her heart on her sleeve; she's quite open with her opinions and feelings, and doesn't hesitate to say what's on her mind. It's never hard to guess what she's thinking, because it's usually quite evident on her face. She often gets frustrated when she tried to explain something to people who aren't as educated as she is, as it's very important to her that she be understood. That said, since expressing herself this way is in her nature, she has trouble simplifying things. She finds that it's easier to explain herself when she can use her full vocabulary, since trying to think of the equivalent in simpler terms can lose some of what she's trying to get across.
SNARKY xxx»» When in doubt, resort to sarcasm. That's how her parents live, and that's how Ridley does as well. Whenever she feels any emotion that would generally be considered negative, she uses her wit as armor, defending herself with sharp words and a haughty tone of voice. Unfortunately, neither of her parents ever saw the slightest problem with this, so she doesn't even attempt to censor herself for the sake of politeness. When people get offended, she typically responds with... more sarcasm. It's her defense mechanism against anything, and how she deals with people who 'wear her out with their idiocy.'
BLUNT xxx»» Ridley has no filter, whatsoever. She says what's on her mind, and typically gets away with it. She's not a mean person by nature, but she also doesn't tend to coddle people when she's talking to them. It can lead to some interesting results, when she finds herself in serious or professional settings where her manners are somewhat lacking. Still, she has a habit of being right, so unfortunately the worst that ever happens is some grumbling. Occasionally she ruins relationships over this, but she tends not to worry about it; if they can't handle the truth she doesn't want to be friends with them anyway.

Her father easily won custody of her, and she has never met her biological mother, nor does she have any interest in doing so. She's much happier with her 'real' mother, Tassy. Riddles doesn't actually remember a time when her parents weren't married, or together, but she knows that early in her life they were only 'casual' with one another. According to her father, it was her birth that made them actually make a commitment to one another, with Tassy filling the role of surrogate mother until they were essentially already a family. She finds the concept odd, but then, her parents are odd anyway, so she supposes it makes sense that their relationship would be as well.
SCHOOL YEARS xxx»» Riddles was unsurprisingly sorted into Ravenclaw at school, and proceeded to prove herself more than worthy of the house. She got, if not top marks, then very close to it, and managed to apply herself to her studies and extracurriculars without it impeding her social life. Her seven years at Hogwarts were mostly uneventful, which she's grateful for after some of the horror stories her family has told. She managed to snag both a prefect and Head Girl title, and generally performed quite well. There was some concern she was spreading herself thin, but she managed everything with an extremely strict schedule and chart, which she was more than happy to use as an excuse if someone wanted her to do something she wasn't interested in.
ADULTHOOD xxx»» Post-graduation, Ridley remained at home with her parents for a few years, helping various family members with their businesses where needed and generally getting a feel for what it was like to run a business herself. Eventually, she used a small amount of her savings and an even smaller loan from her father to open her own record label, with the intent of immediately signing Chance, and anyone else who wasn't happy with their current career trajectory in the magical music industry.
