Boinedal was pacing back and forth, waiting for the others to join him. He was trying to think back through the last few days since the hunters strike. He found himself assigned to a team to go out into the rogue lands and kill the Kings uncle. It didn't take long for Boinedal to fit the pieces together that the female he had fallen in love with was this males daughter. Yue'shi had always been so guarded with the information about her family and now Boinedal knew why.

The purple lion swallowed hard trying to digest all that he had learned in a short period of time and all that he still had to figure out. He knew that he would have to find away to warn Yue'shi about what was happening, but he also worried that he was placed on this team as a test. Maybe others were just waiting for him to go out and meet with Yue'shi. He would have to try his best to be careful. He took a seat trying to compose himself he couldn't have his other team members seeing him so disheveled with they arrived.

Now this, this was truly exciting! Yksivarinen was assigned to a team whose sole duty was to track down the rebel Meshach and kill him! The monochrome male was so excited that he tripped three times on his way to meeting the rest of the team, instead of only once.

He could finally prove to the King his gratefulness for being promoted to Royal Guard! 'Varinen had already entertained several daydreams of how King Shangyue would reward him for Meshach's death. However, that would have to wait, as they had to find him first.

Up ahead he could see a purple lion (not at all related to the King or Meshach, it was the wrong sort of purple for that) whom he knew to be on the team as well. Good, he wasn't late!

"Hi! Are you ready? Isn't this exciting? Do you think we'll manage to find him?" 'Varinen blurted out as he came near.

She couldn't have been more pleased with her assignment. Well, correction she could think of several other things besides tramping around the wilderness for her king, but that was neither here nor there. It would be a great favor to the king if she could complete her mission. Nkosazana felt her spine tingle at the thought of the great rewards she could receive from the king. It never hurt to be in favor, right?

She was puzzled, however. Why was King Shangyue so determined to do away with his uncle? As far as Nko knew, he only lurked around the edges of the pride. She didn't see how that could possible be a threat. Meshach had had his chance and failed miserably. Surely the rebels that were living in the pride were a bigger threat?

What she couldn't figure out is how she got saddled with the two she did. Nko stood for a moment at a distance watching the two males. Ugh! Of all the rotten luck. Holding her head high, finally she approached. It was plain to her who exactly was going to be needed to lead. Particularly after the one male tripped, not once, but thrice!

"Good evening," she greeted them coolly.

From above, another pair of eyes watched the trio. Bonded to the lioness, it made sense for him to join in although he didn't agree with it at all. Privately, Jiang figured Nko had been chosen for this because of him. He'd give the group a better scouting ability. And boy did they need it! He gave a whistle and settled down onto a nearby branch to listen in. There was certainly going to be a lively time with this particular trio.

As the others joined him Boinedal shaped his face into a smile. It had to appear like he really wanted to be here and that he was going to give it his all. From what he could tell he was the only hunter here, there was a good chance that the others hadn't even attended the hunters strike, he hoped anyways as he didn't want to be called out on being there. He needed to lay as low as possible on this mission.

"Good evening." Boinedal greeted the two guards. He noted the bird that had a accompanied the female lioness. The bird had the potential to make any double crossing Boinedal planned to do much much harder. He had no idea what he was doing on this team or how to go about doing anything.

"My name is Boinedal." he told both the others while his brain was racing through all his options trying to figure out what to do next. He decided he would sit back and wait, see what information the other two offered up. Depending on wha they said he would plan from there.

"I'm Yksivarinen!" the Royal Guard introduced himself to the others, looking from one to the other excitedly. He didn't know either of the others very well, but that wasn't a bad thing, right?

"So, anyone know where to look?" All 'Varinen knew was that Meshach was somewhere on the borders of the pride. Which was a lot of places to look. So he looked at the other two hopefully, rubbing his Royal Guard amulet for good luck.

Dear Great Lion, why these two? Nko thought. No matter, she'd have to make the best of it. The purple male only volunteered his name and not much else. Lovely, he didn't seem the kind to take charge. Her eyes narrowed a moment at the other's very enthusiastic introduction. With his question it was easy to brush him off as leader too. "Nkosazana, and Jiang," she said nodding to the bird.

With disdain she watched the royal guard rub his amulet. A slave shouldn't even have been allowed out on such an important mission! It was like dooming her to fail from the very start! Not that the hunter was much better in that sense, but he'd probably be better at tracking. Nko made a purring laugh at Yksivarinen, "you may start within the pride if you like, but I really doubt he'd be hiding here."

She sat up straighter and looked both in the eyes. "I believe it should be I who takes command. We will be searching at the edges of the pride and into the roguelands. When we find traces," not if, but when, "then we'll track him down." Nko eyed both to be sure the plan was clear.

The bird bobbed his head as he was introduced. "A pleasure." He could only shake his head to himself at Nko. Poor girl. If only she could make up with her cub she might be happier. Jiang wondered if that ever had a chance of happening. He glanced up at the sky, maybe the Great Lion...

His attention was pulled back as Nko named herself leader. He cleared his throat, "rumor states he's been watching the pride so he can't be too far out."

Even just the name exchange gave Boinedal some of the information that he needed. He now felt that the other male wasn't going to be a problem. While he was excited and eager to complete his job, he was too excited and Boinedal questioned his ability to focus. The female on the other hand would be trickier she was smart and knew what to do.

"Great to meet you both." Boinedal said a cool smile on his lips. "Absolutely if you would like to be in command that suits me Nkosazana." Boinedal replied to the female lion.

"I agree we should start search the borders of the pride. Lets start to the north of the pride. I know from being a hunter that there are many resources up that way it would be easiest to live there." Boinedal put his suggestion out boldly, internally though his stomach was doing flip flops. He knew for a fact they would not find anyone to the north, while it was true that many resources were there he had always met with Yue'shi on the south side of the pride. It would be a good waste of time for tonight and perhaps he would have time to warn Yue'shi before their next trip out into the rogue lands.

'Varinen looked from one teammate to the other. He didn't know either of them well, but the lioness definitely reminded him of a less cruel version of Tyfu. Also less black and green. He considered Boinedal's suggestion of looking to the north. Frankly, he didn't know one direction from the other as far as resources and the like went, but all directions were equally likely.

"We do have to start somewhere," the grey male put in.

She purred and arched her neck as Boinedal declined any interest in leadership. This was a male who knew reason. And the other didn't comment. That was so much simpler than she'd hoped it'd be. At least they wouldn't waste time by arguing. Now where to start was up for debate. While she didn't have a specific direction in mind to start, Nko wanted to protest the suggestion of starting North; except she had no reason to do so. She frowned in thought a moment then nodded to Boinedal.

"North it is to start, but we should do the whole circumference. There's no telling where he might be right now, and where the other teams are looking. I won't be blamed for their mistakes." She snapped her teeth after the last word to emphasize her point. It applied for their mistakes too. "Jiang, if I remember correctly there's a couple of waterholes next to each other up there."

Jiang bobbed his head as he was addressed directly. Confidently he flew down to land on the red shoulder that he matched so well. "Indeed. I think we also found some caves up that way. I bet he needs places to hide and he'd have to move around frequently." Which only re-enforced Nko's thoughts that they should check the whole perimeter. The bird glanced around at the others to see if they had anything to add.

It took all his strength not to breath a sigh of relief, so far he had been successful in talking his way through it all. He was happy that the female had taken charge, and yet he was able to keep control of the situation.

"So we have a plan. We will start in the north and circle around. I don't think we will be able to do it all in one night." the prides lands were expansive, at best he thought they would only be able to do a thorough search of the north and then make it down to either the eastern or western border. If he was right that would give him enough time to get away during the day to warn Yue'shi and her family.

He cast his eyes towards the sky, it was already beginning to get light out. He wanted to suggest that they all get their sleep and meet up at the northern border at dusk, but he suspected Nkosazana would rebel against any further suggestion from him. All he could do was sit back and hope she made the call.

"I don't think the King gave us a deadline?" Yksivarinen offered when Boinedal pointed out that the pride's border was impossible to search in a single night. Sure, a runner could make the circuit in one night, but they wouldn't be looking, not the way the assassins would have to.

'Varinen's impression was that King Shangyue wanted Meshach dead. Preferably sooner, rather than later, but he'd want them to do the job right, and not screw up. The monochrome male truly did not want to screw this up at all.

Nko rolled her eyes. Did he have to iterate exactly what they'd already agreed upon? It wasn't like this was a huge group and everyone had to be on the same plain. She heaved a sigh. As much as she hated to admit it, Boinedal was correct. The perimeter was huge. There was no way the three of them could cover it in a night, and do a thorough job when the sun was about to come up.

She leveled a glare at the lightening sky. "Excellent. Now that that's settled. We'll meet back here soon as the sun sets. And Dont. Be. Late." Nko fixed a stern eye on both males.

"Not specifically 'Vaninen, no. But one would think the king wanted this done asap. Don't you?" Nko rose to her feet. "I am going to get a good night sleep so I'll be fresh tomorrow. See you both then."

"Pleasant dreams," Jiang bid them mildly. He fluffed his feathers.

Boinedal let a breath he hadn't even been aware he was holding. He hoped the others hadn't noticed. Pasting a smile on his face he bowed his head to the two other members, "Sounds good, I will be here at sunset. I agree the King will want this dealt with quickly" Boinedal told them before he turned to head away from the group.

He had zero intention of going to sleep though, he only had a limited amount of time and that time was going to be used to warn Yue. He would forgo sleep if he had to. He tried to walk away at a slow as not to seem overly anxious. He knew they were not the only team on the hunt he needed to make sure the warning went out.

'Varinen sighed as the group split up. He'd managed to screw up again. Somewhere between his brain and his mouth what had seemed smart came out stupid. He wasn't trying to delay their assignment - far from it! It simply seemed to the male that things would go most smoothly if they took the time to plan the assassination out properly ahead of time.

Which would please the King greatly, he knew.

Oh well. Hopefully tomorrow he'd be able to do well when they went to kill Meshach.

She wondered privately to herself if they could be counted on being here on time. Maybe she'd have a word with Jiang. She could always send him to fetch them. A frown crossed her face. No, they were adults. If they weren't here on time she'd leave without them!

Nkosazana turned to head toward her den. On second thought, she could do with a quick bite to eat then she'd sleep. "Want a quick hunt Jiang?" she asked the bird. With him flushing prey toward her it would be much faster.

About to take off and go do his own thing, Jiang paused and tilted his head, "big or small?" If they were going to have him flitting all over the roguelands tomorrow, he didn't want to use up all his energy in a hunt tonight.

"Only big enough to fill our bellies."

The bird nodded. "Alright." Raising his wings he took to the skies. Circling up he saw the lioness following him. Jiang struck outward away from the pride.
