It was late morning. The sun was slowly making its way to its peak in the sky and the pride was bustling with activity. Cubs ran about the grass, keeping their watchers on their paws. Bands of hunters were making their way out to find food for the large population that called the Pridelands home. Adults huddled in small groups, discussing their lives, their plans for the future and whatever gossip might be making the rounds that day.
Nkechi watched it all with great interest. It had been a couple of days since he'd joined the pride and he'd mostly stuck to himself, getting his bearings, making sure he was comfortable in this new place. Now he was eager to see just what went on here. He sat in an Acacia tree he'd found, it's leaves scarce, his brown fur helping him blend into the wood.
His choice to join the pride was purely strategic. Whilst he had no qualms about living in the rogue lands, living among a pride, where food and safety were pretty much guaranteed, was an obvious better choice, though it had taken some outside influence for him to come to this conclusion. So he had chosen the Pridelands, the largest of them all. He hoped that his decision would choose to be an interesting one. |

Thus far, Khatiran was pleased with her choice of pride. There were a wealth of options when it came to such things, but she felt that this was where she could be most productive. She looked the part of a typical Pridelander (though there were countless Pridelanders of all shapes, sizes, and colors!), nondescript and nothing special, and she could blend in here with ease. She could work quietly and carefully, a little trinket here and a little bauble there, and who would know? Who would suspect, much less hunt for, a real thief? With cubs here and there and everywhere, most would probably be quick to arrive at the conclusion of youthful antics and nothing more.
They would certainly not suspect the kind, unassuming healer who looked like she could well have been from a long line of Pridelanders, whose only adornment was a simple little bracelet with a few beads and a small black feather.
This innocent little healer was headed out for the day to look for herbs; it might not be her 'real' calling, but she was actually a healer, and as such she needed ingredients. There wasn't often anything worth finding in the busier areas of the pride, so she usually looked closer to the borders, if not outside of them. Khatiran picked her way around discussions, gathering, and ever-present cubs, as well as an acacia tree, her mind on her task for the day. |

Meepfur so.... uh....... this isn't a late reply at all......... >.>;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;
Although he was comfortable, Nkechi decided that it probably wouldn't be a good use of his time to spend all day in the tree. Sure, the pride going ons were fascinating, but he wanted to be involved, not just watch from afar. It was a little selfish of him to join a pride for all the resources it had, but to not contribute at all.
Most of the hunters had left, and he didn't want to spend his day watching the cubs. His amber eyes searched for someone, something that might be of interest.
A brown lioness wandered by his tree and his attention was caught. She seemed like she was walking with purpose. He wondered where she was off to. Not hunting, he decided, for the parties had already left, and it would be silly to head out on one's own.
Curiosity struck, he leaped from the branch that was holding his body and down to the earth, landing with a soft thud next to the lioness.
"Mind if I tag along?" He asked. "You like like you're heading somewhere." |
