It was sad to see how determined Yksivarinen really was, how dedicated he seemed to be to his job as a royal guard. Unyezi had not been responsible for the slaves when it happened, and knowing what had become of so many of them made him all the more dedicated to his new job. But as things were now, he couldn't do much.

"Orion has not been a slave for a long time, he was a Royal Guard like yourself," he said, "Protected from wrong-doing by the generosity of the king, immune to the judgement of the Great Lion. If he is no longer a Royal Guard and he has left his mate, it may be that he's now considered a Lord once more. He should not be asking a slave how to deal with a slave, he should be asking a king how to handle a monster of his own creation."

Unyezi did not hesitate to sound disgusted by the king's so-called generosity or to refer to himself as a king. It was an act of treason in its own right, and he knew it could well cause trouble for himself and the other slaves.. he didn't know it when the conversation started, but he was prepared for that.

"If he wants an answer better than that, he can come talk to me himself," he repeated firmly.

"But...but..." Yksivarinen tried to formulate a response to the older lion and couldn't. If he was one to think that far, the monochrome male might have reasoned that killing was exactly the sort of job the Royal Guards had been created for, with the special rank to protect them from its consequences. Which could then lead a smart lion to surmise that the King, being a cruel-minded individual, could then threaten anyone who would want to give up the rank with the consequences of whatever actions they had taken with it, as they would no longer be immune.

The younger lion managed to grasp some of the ideas, but the actual articulation escaped him. He knew only that Unyezi hadn't really left him a leg to stand on. He bowed his head to the inevitable sighing.

"Yes, Unyezi."

"Good day, Yksivarinen," he said, taking a seat and waiting for the male to leave. He wouldn't turn his back, though he was not afraid of this particular lion. It was about confidence and how much he believed in what he said. Hopefully he put himself in more danger than the others, but they would deal with that next. Shangyue had given the slaves a leader, and together him and Nerit would see them safely through this rebellion.

'Varinen waited, but it became clear that Unyezi was not about to budge. Not physically, not verbally. With another audible sigh, the younger lion turned and walked away. He would give his report, of course, but everyone knew it would be unsatisfactory to the King.
