Dhati was a new face here, but he'd signed up for the Sky Ceremony nonetheless. He felt the burden of being an outsider keenly, with as warily as his birth pride had treated such lions, and he wanted to prove that he would be a worthy addition to his new clan. How better than to bring them honor by participating in this?

After glancing up at Kifafa, who would observe as she circled high above, he nodded in greeting to his opponent. "I am Dhati of the Bird Clan. It's an honor to battle you today."

Her high spirits were infectious. Dhati cracked a smile in response, and forest green eyes warmed a bit. An amiable duel like this was something to be enjoyed, even in a competititve setting. "I'm ready when you are, Elena." After bowing his head, he took a battle-ready stance. He looked impressive enough--he was not particularly large or bulky, but he was young and fit.

Dhati was too slow to react, to have any chance of dodging Elena's blindingly quick opening. But he adapted, an attempt to leap away twisting around to go on the offensive instead, a sheathed paw lashing out to strike while she was close. Letting her initiate might come back to haunt him, but he could adapt. He would adapt.
