Oh boy. This was a character. Faruk contemplated just getting up and leaving. But that would require moving. And he didn’t really want to move at the moment. Though, the more the cub spoke, the more tempting it was. ”I was napping,” he decided to reply, wrinkling his nose. Maybe the other could figure out the rest on his own, apologies, and be on his way. Faruk could wish, even improbable wishes.
He had been about to roll over, turn his back on the youth, and go back to sleep when the cub decided to ask a rather rude question. Did he have any friends! Of course he did! There was… Well, did siblings count? He frowned. ”Does it matter?” he growled, tail twitching irritably. He didn’t need friends. Maybe later. But right now, he just needed sleep.

Obviously, the other cub wasn’t going to give up on bothering him. ”Because I like napping,” he pointed out bitterly, frowning at the other. It was night already? His head swung up, eyes moving to the sky. He could see the stars. He loved looking at the stars, almost as much as he loved sleeping. If he had been alone, he would have rolled on his back and watched the sky twinkle until he fell asleep.
The other’s voice reminded him that he was not alone. ”I don’t need friends,” he mumbled, looking away. ”I’d rather lay around all day than do something so troubling.” It was partially true. But Faruk was still a cub and did yearn for friends. He just didn’t want to keep up with the relationship. The other cubs were too excitable, too active. He wouldn’t be able to keep up. Just thinking about it was tiring. He had his family, maybe that was all he needed.
