Night sighed as she stood before the entrance to the strange labyrinth she'd heard about. She wasn't entirely sure what to expect, but she did know this was the perfect task to take her mind off the recent events in Goldenrod. Pulling a pokeball from her bag, Night had planned on taking her Zorua in with her. However, another of her pokemon seemed to have different plans.

Before she could release the small fox, her Koffing appeared and, immediately, began rubbing against her, "Wha? Himeros, no! Back in your ball. I'm taking Eris is."

Despite her protests, the pokemon continued rubbing against her affectionately. Grumbling, Night returned Eris's pokeball to her bag, "Fine, you can come with me, but you have to stop rubbing on me like that."

"This doesn't seem so bad," Night said, looking around the nearly empty room. She takes a few short moments to carefully inspect each item before deciding on the Oran berry, which she immediately gives to Himeros to hold. "C'mon, let's see what else this place has to offer."

Night immediately walked through the room, ignoring the mysterious button in the middle of the room, and tried the only other door. Hopefully, she'd luck out and wouldn't have to find out what that strange button does.

Unfortunately, a quick jiggle of the handle told her it was, in fact, locked. Slowly, Night began investigating the rest of the room, searching for another means to open the door. Upon finding nothing useful, Night gave in and returned to the button, "Get ready Himeros. Not entirely sure what this will do."

Not wanting to put it off any longer, Night pressed the button and immediately jumped back. It took a moment for her to realize just what the button had done. Too busy looking around the room to find the consequences of her actions, she failed to notice the door opening, or the mysterious 5 that appeared above her Koffing's head.

"Huh, guess it didn't do anything. Weird. Well, let's go, Himeros. I'm sure we'll encounter something in this pla- holy s**t what's that over your head?"

"Koff?"Himeros looked up and started panicking over the strange thing above him. The panic only increased when he realized the number was following him.

"Himeros!" Night grabbed the panicking pokemon in an attempt to hold him still and calm him down, "Listen, I'm not sure what that number does, but it doesn't seem to be hurting you. The door is open, so what do you say we go on through to the next room and see about getting out of here."

Once the Koffing had been calmed, the two ventured on through to the next room.

As they ventured into the new room, Night noticed several things at once. The first being the number over her Koffing's head changed from a 5 to 4, "Huh, guess that means it's counting down to something? Gotta figure out what to do before it reaches zero."

The second and third things Night noticed was the numerous bear traps littered on the ground as well as the stock leaning against the wall, "Well, we could possibly try and walk past these traps and hope I don't accidentally trigger one, purposefully trigger a few and hope we don't cause a nasty chain reaction or..." She looked beside her at Himeros with a grin, "we could take advantage of your levitate ability and just float across. What do you think?"

Night barely had time to register the Koffing's sudden movement before she felt her legs being knocked out from under her. Apparently, Himeros decided floating across would be the best course of action. That, or he just wanted a chance to touch his trainer again.

It seemed like no time before the two were safely across the room. Well, "safe" might have been a relative term. The second Night's feet touched the ground a large Ursaring jumped from the ceiling and attacked Himeros.

"Well, looks like we've finally found something to fight," Night said, looking up at the large bear. Wait.
Room full of bear traps with an actual bear waiting to spring a trap at the end of the hall.... Well played , V.

Shaking her head, Night grinned up at her Koffing, "You know, Himeros, I think it's time we put that Oran berry to good use. Belch."

Himeros smiled and ate the berry he's been holding. After a few moments, which involved a bit of chewing, swallowing, and dodging big bear claws, the Koffing floated directly into the Ursaring's face and let loose an earth shattering BELCH.

The combination of shock and absolute disgust on the bear's face quickly sent Night rolling to the floor in laughter. She'd definitely have to invest in more berries if this was the reaction she'd get from the pokemon's belching.

The Ursaring's shock wouldn't last long, however, as the bear quickly recovered and began slashing at the Koffing with his claws. Clearly, he was not amused.

"Hi- Himeros," Night continued to laugh, trying to gain control of herself long enough to get through this battle, "R- return."

Koffing charged, using every ounce of love he had for his trainer in the attack, and slammed into the bear. The Ursaring roared once before lowering the roar to a growl and stalking off to tend to it's injuries while awaiting the next intruder to come by.

Night, meanwhile, approached her pokemon with a smile, as well as a small giggle, "Great job, Himeros. You okay to continue?"

Himeros nodded and turned to lead the way towards the door and the next room.

Stepping through the doorway, Night kept a close watch on the number floating above Himeros' head; watching as the number changed from a 4 to 3.  Sighing, she placed her hand on the side of the Koffing's head, wishing she knew what she could possibly do to prevent the countdown from reaching zero.

Unfortunately, Night had other things to worry about right now.  Namely the new room and, more specfically, the Gible that had just attacked them, "s**t, Himeros!"

Night's warning cry came too late to prevent Himeros from taking the Gible's attack full on in the face, "You're okay, Himeros.  Hit it with a Return."

The Koffing shook off the shock of the unexpected attack before rushing towards the smaller pokemon and slamming full-bodied into it before immediately returning to Night's side.  The Gible fell back with a tiny growl before jumping back to it's feet and slashing at Himeros with its Dragon Claw.  Without waiting for the next command, Himeros charged the Gible with another Return attack immediately followed by a simple Tackle.

The moment the small pokemon was out of the way, Himeros led the way to the next door while Night looted the silver tokens and shards from the room.

Night walked through the doorway into the next room and quickly came face to face with the largest Habits she'd ever seen, "Well, this is going to be fun."

One quick battle later and Night gathered up the silver token and continued on to the next challenge.

Before moving into the next floor, Night quickly ran into Hedj's shop and exchanged 4 silver tokens for 2 super potions. Immediately using both items on Himeros.
