Draken had spent most of his day off in his room. He was trying to remember what to write for his class. Its not like his hungover notes was helping whatsoever. In Fact all he had got from his notes was something about sickness! So he had just grumbled to himself mostly and spent it locked in his room. On his bed reading random topics. Something about biology and even one on remnants. Though he had spent most of the day asleep. It was of course the day most people went to electives so he could stay in as much as he wanted. No one would notice.

[The night Prior]
Jace had arrived a little later than intended to his room. While familiar with the route to his room and the class, having spent most of his summer familiarizing himself with where things were located, he had made a detour to the gardens for a little while. He needed the fresh air, calm, and beauty of it after the class. Despite having to show he couldn't fully shift, it wasn't as bad as a response from the class as he had been expecting. Gin, particularly, had helped with that both with his reassurances and shifting the focus to his own trouble with shifting in the past. Jace would have to return the favor one day. All in all, it was not the worst that could've happened and he was less apprehensive of attending the next one. Arriving in his room, he noticed the sleeping form of his roommate from the dimmer lights in the hall and decided not to turn on the room lights. Curious as to who it was, but not desiring to disturb their sleep, he would merely close the door as silently as he could behind him before going to his side of the room. Though dark and hard to see, he liked what he could make out of his own bed and hoped it would live up to the ones he was used to in his home when he viewed it in the morning. Jace would disrobe and change into more loose material of attire for rest in case it grew too warm. He would then slip into his bed and quickly fall asleep, wondering what lay in store tomorrow.

[Current day]
Jace would wake up to the dawns light filtering through the sides of the curtains, disturbing his peaceful rest. He would slowly rise to a sitting position, rubbing his eyes with the back of his hand as his forked tongue would slip through his lips briefly before hiding away again. He was always an early riser, his family had bred him as such, even if he wished he could sleep in at times. His eyes would shift to slits briefly before returning to normal as they adapted to the sudden light of the morning. He'd stretch his arms out wide to loosen his muscles and get them ready for the day before moving so his legs were hanging off the edge of the bed. He began to think of what today would hold for him. He had yet to decide what elective he wanted to participate in as he preferred to just quickly go through the classes so his time here would be short. So for now the day was his to spend as he chose. He wasn't quite sure if he was forced to have an elective or not, but hoped it would not be too much trouble if he missed the first class before he would decide. In truth he had no clue which one he would desire as the options were very varied but he had little experience with most of them save music. Even then, he had had tutoring for the violin and had kept up with it for as long as he was home. He had, however, unfortunately been unable to take it with him here. As he began to think of what to do, he looked over his room now that there was a decent deal of light. He liked it so far. It was...similar in aesthetic to his home, however the coloring and material used was different. 'It also lacks most of my belongings.' He added to himself with a small sigh. Still, it would do well for now and should his stay be long enough he could always remedy that issue.

Rising from his bed, he would briefly look over in the direction of his roommates bed. From his perspective it seemed the person was yet to rise and he could not see them well from his perspective. Shrugging his shoulders as he did not have much to do for the day, he could always wait in his room till they chose to rise to find out who the person in question was and introduce himself. Believing the person to still be asleep, Jace would change from his casual clothes to more presentable clothes that he had in his wardrobe. Appearances were everything in most situations and he was not about to shirk on that just because he was away from home. Once that was done, Jace would simply pick up a book he had brought with him and begin to read while laying in bed. Content to just relax and see what would happen when the other inhabitant of the room awoke.

[Previous Day]

Eko had walked quite quickly down the halls after Twitch’s ignorant remarks, tears starting to stream down his face and breathing shaky. Thankfully, not many students roamed the halls, though the few who saw Eko gave him strange looks and glances, likely wondering why someone would be crying and running from class. The Enhancer, however, couldn’t care less about everyone around him at the moment, focusing on getting to the privacy of his dorm. His classmate’s comments had forced unpleasant memories from the depths of his mind, ones he wished to leave behind to start anew. The night his brother had died, been assassinated, that is, replayed countlessly in his dreams already, his lack of understanding, the first time his father had struck him. Now, they had shoved from his subconscious to his conscious mind, his voices of anxiety and regret telling him that it was his fault for being weak.

He made it to his dorm sobbing, collapsing on his bed, crying and shaking, streams of tears tumbling down his cheeks, soaking his pillow. The lights were off, and his dorm-mate had yet to enter (whoever that may be), so he was alone for the time being.

Eventually, he had no more tears, he simply laid on his bed, curled in the blankets and stroking Coco, who seemed to be confused. The bird wouldn't understand anything, he was just a bird after all. At least Coco’s non-judgemental presence helped Eko’s anxiety.

The Enhancer eventually drifted off to sleep, though that wouldn’t last very long. His mind conjured scenes of him living on the streets, rather than as a noble, how difficult it would be, how lucky he was. To have parents. He awoke several times throughout the night, often crying more and more. Maybe Twitch wasn’t the lucky one… maybe that boy had it harder than him.

The psychological torture, however, of living with his parents, rivaled what it’d be like to live on the streets, both lives mean living in fear, not sure of the future. What tomorrow would hold. Eko couldn’t sleep well in general, and especially tonight. He never noticed his roommate enter, Eko had been sleeping. Nightmares and bad memories continued to swarm the boy’s thoughts till morning.

[New Day]

Finally, Eko’s eyes fluttered open upon hearing his roommate moving about. He pretended to stay asleep, though, but he knew the sun was up and he needed to go to his elective class, Beginner’s Combat. His incredibly fast reflexes were the only thing that would be able to save him from death if he had to live on his own, in a dangerous environment. He had been told never to return to his home, so the boy assumed he would no longer be considered of noble status and was disowned. It was a small relief, but he needed to know how to protect himself if he were to be alone. Eko was scared to learn to fight, but it was also rather thrilling.

Finally, Eko sat up to find his roommate laying in bed, reading. His roommate being Jace. That immediately put the anxious boy into a small panic, he was sleeping in the same room as a noble, who also happened to be a cute boy. All year, this would be his roommate. Eko took in a shaky breath, looking out the window to see it was a sunny day, not many clouds drifted across the vast sky. The sky, at least, Eko thought, was limitless and free, and unchanging on clear days. Eko liked that. A lack of change. Nothing to overwhelm him.

Thankfully, Eko was calming down now. At least he wasn't roomed with a stranger, right? His gaze trailed back to the green haired noble across the room, watching him carefully and silently.

Eko suddenly realized he was a mess, he would likely have bags under his eyes, and his eyes themselves were likely red and puffy from crying. He was still in his clothes, and his hair was very tangled from tossing and turning. This realization made Eko begin panicking again, Jace probably thought he was ugly and gross in this state, and the noble would probably ask questions. Questions that Eko was scared to answer.

The Enhancer took a deep breath, trying to figure out what to say to break the awkward silence that persisted. Eko had been trying to lose his strange, forced formality, however little he had. After all, it connected it to his home. This room, though, did not. He had very few personal belongings and therefore his side of the room was rather plain, though it seemed expensive nonetheless.

”S-So… r-roommates, I-I guess?” Eko asks Jace, fidgeting nervously. He tried to make conversation, knowing his social skills were horrendous. He could blame his raiment for that, and his parents. The Enhancer always was scared to speak his mind, for one, due to his parents, and, he had a habit of over analyzing and getting nervous, due to his raiment.

He closed his eyes, rubbing them slightly. He really needed to leave soon, he had no idea who the combat professor would be now. Maybe it would be Miss Marksimov, but he really didn’t know. She hadn’t seemed like the fighting type, though that didn’t mean she wasn’t. Hopefully it was someone nice, and someone who could teach well.

Jace was broken away from his reading by the sound of a familiar voice asking if they were roommates. Though it was regrettable as one of the main conflicts of the book was taking place, he could always come back to this later whereas interacting with someone could only be done in the moment. Lowering his book gently onto the bed, he would look over to the source wondering whose exactly it was. While there was a polite and pleasant smile on his face, his eyes briefly showed surprise at the source of the voice. 'Eko.' He had met him during orientation but had, for better or worse, not seen him in shifter class. Which meant that he was not a shifter but of some other knit. 'At least he didn't see my inability to fully shift.' He would think to himself slightly relieved. Pleasantly surprised to be rooming with someone he was familiar with, and so far enjoyed the company of, he would rise to a sitting position on his own bed as his gaze would be turned to Eko. Having seen him once before, he had not expected to see him in this state. From what he could see, his eyes were red and puffy with bags under them, and his clothing along with hair was in a state of dishevelment. Jace idly wondered what could have caused such a thing, though he could gather something upset him greatly the day prior. He also seemed rather nervous as he was during orientation to just be speaking with him, which Jace found odd. Though it may just be that he was taught differently than Jace, or was naturally a far more shy person than most. Believing they both had shared a bad first day, Jace would rise and offer a bow to him while giving a friendly greeting and smile. "A pleasant morning to you Eko. It seems this may be the first of many." Jace would finish and pause in deliberation for a moment on how to continue. His social conditioning was telling him this was all that was required of him, but his role as an older sibling was telling him to intervene. He wasn't sure which to follow, but given the act of kindness he was shown the day prior he felt it only right to reciprocate that onto another. He would walk over to Eko's side of the room in a calm manner and sit beside him. This was taking a leap that he would allow him to go closer into his personal space, but he hoped it would not be an issue to him. He was not deterred in the slightest from Eko's current appearance as appearances only mattered to him in formal contexts. Socializing in private or in small groups he did not feel anyone had to follow such norms, despite doing so regardless for himself, as he preferred genuine depictions of the person to the fake ones typically used in other contexts. Some people were genuine in both, but in his experience many were not.

There were two ways he could go about trying to comfort him as he tried to figure out which approach should be taken. He could go to the direct route but felt that was far too soon after meeting him to be appropriate. Not to mention he had no clue what had caused this for him, and until he did he could not try to fix it. Not to mention it would require him to speak of it which may do more harm than good. However the indirect route could work as well. He did not need to address the issue specifically to try and help him. Looking over at him he did not focus on his outward appearance but rather kept his gaze casually towards his eyes. "It seems you have yet to put on the noble mask. I prefer waiting till a little before I leave personally as well." Jace would say to make light of things a little. He had yet to do his hair, wash his face or even look at himself in the mirror yet. While hardly comparable to Eko's state, he was trying to let him know what his current look did not bother him as it was imperative to most nobles. So long as he kept his mind occupied from whatever it was that was troubling him he hoped it would help him out. A sudden thought crossed his mind as he realized something. "So, today is elective day is it not? What class are you going to be taking?" Jace would ask, curious as to what he would chose to participate in. He had yet to decide himself as nothing particularly caught his interest however he may just join Eko in whatever class he chose to be in on the basis he would know someone. Further he knew his time would be limited here before he likely had to go to class. Which also made Jace wonder whether or not it may be too late to decide on a elective at this point in time. He hoped he could still join in on one despite it being late, though he may not participate on this day. It also, unfortunately, meant he would still only get to interact with Eko a little before they would part ways, even if he chose to accompany him to his class. He still had many other questions in terms of him, his family, and anything related to their family history but today did not seem like the one to ask that of him. He rather Eko get through whatever was bothering him before he would probe him with questions. 'We are roommates for the next year after all.' He thought to himself, rationalizing there would be plenty of time for that later.

Eko’s roommate set down what he was reading on his bed, slight surprise crossing his face, the Enhancer noticed, eyes widening a bit, if only for a moment. Jace sat up, gaze meeting Eko’s. Presumably, the surprise was from realizing Eko was his roommate. After all, that had to have been pure luck. Many people would be stuck with complete strangers as dormmates.

Due to Jace’s apparent formality, it was hardly a surprise when the other noble bowed in greeting, implying there would be many more days of them waking like this, they were technically dorm-mates now. The other boy paused, and Eko scanned him subconsciously. When he was more tired and in a familiar place with familiar people, the Enhancer’s raiment toned down.

It was, however, a surprise to Eko when Jace walked over to his side of the room, seating himself beside the Enhancer. That wasn’t as formal as the Enhancer expected Jace to bel. Though, due to Eko’s current state, it made some sense, Jace was likely going to attempt to comfort him. Even so, it was odd for a proper noble like the green haired boy to do something like that. Eko hadn’t been taught nearly as much etiquette as Jace, and it was likely that the noble found it alright to do something like this out of the public’s eye.

Jace, much to Eko’s relief, didn’t directly mention Eko’s state or ask what was wrong, he simply commented on the Enhancer not yet putting up a good image as of yet. Eko realized that Jace was also in a different state than usual, less put together than he was at the ceremony. That was likely due to the fact that it was rather early in the morning and he had recently woken up. However, it was an odd sight that Eko would need to get used to, seeing someone in their less than favorable state. Well, not that Jace’s not-put-together state was less than favorable. He still had an air of nobility and politeness, as well as not being in such a bad state as Eko.

Upon being asked what elective Eko was taking, he immediately began overthinking. Jace could mock Eko for choosing combat, or think he should be doing other things. Something useful for a noble. Like potions or botany. Combat was meant for lower classes, guards and the like, though it was a hobby for some middle and occasionally upperclassmen. On the flip side, Jace could be intrigued by Eko’s choice and ask questions. Which is unfavorable as well. The best case scenario would be a neutral response from his roommate, and then a response saying what he would be taking.

Finally responding, Eko says rather softly, ”B-Beginner’s co-combat.” He looks down, away from Jace’s eyes. He slowly moves over, too, further away from Jace. Though he appreciated Jace’s concern/desire to comfort him, Eko’s social anxiety hated being near people. Also, being close to someone/something added scent into the equation of his raiment.

The Enhancer reached across his bed, glancing briefly at Jace before picking up the small fluff-ball that nested in a corner of his bed, Coco. He softly stroked the bird, helping calm him. Eko, to this day, hadn’t the faintest idea what kind of bird it was. All he knew was it was fluffy and cute. Animals, for some reason, liked him. And Eko liked animals. They weren’t often loud, and most were peaceful. They helped calm him after a hard day. Many times, Eko had spent the night curled up next to a stream or tree, having passed out after staying out too long.

Eko would always bring food for the local animals, especially during winter months, knowing his parents couldn’t care less about him, but even so, he was careful. He’d surprisingly never been attacked, if he had Eko would likely not be here today. Another reason he would be taking combat: in case he was ever attacked. Though, that was probably another thing Jace might judge him for if he started asking questions. A noble boy shouldn’t be hanging out in the forest at night and getting filthy. Then again, Eko wasn’t really a noble anymore. Was he? He was quite sure he’d been disowned of sorts, his parents had said never to return.

It would likely be difficult, though, to properly “disown” their child. Possibly they’d attempt to put him in an orphanage or foster home, but the Enhancer didn’t plan on ever returning home and being the only child they had complicated things. He’d join the graduates program and then go from there. But he was done with the abuse, that’s for sure. The Lassila family needed an heir, too, so Eko couldn’t completely disappear unless his parents made or acquired another child. He planned on visiting back to the forest, after his academy life was over.

The drama that was stirring up lately didn’t sit well with Eko, he heard all the rumors, the destroyed fae village and some deal with a lord. The disappearances were unsettling, very unsettling. To know students at this very academy were disappearing monthly created an underlying constant tension inside Eko. The new Court Mage was rather scary, too, at least to the anxious boy. Bearing the name of an important noble family from Valor, and showing a strange display of tremendous power scared Eko, his experience with powerful nobles was of course, unpleasant. Though, as long as Mr. De’Valaer was protecting the school, everything should be fine. Someone confident and, presumably extremely powerful was a good candidate for a Court Mage.

Eko really didn’t want to meet a million new faces at combat, but eventually, he’d have to leave. Likely, the Enhancer would become overwhelmed and have more of a hard time talking to people than usual. Though, later in the year it may get easier. Combat would always make Eko suffer, though, but hopefully he’d begin to get used to it.

As Eko mentioned his class of choice, Jace pondered the answer to himself repeating it in his mind. 'Beginners combat...Hmmm.'He thought to himself. He briefly looked Eko over once more, not really seeing someone who was adept at fighting outwardly at least. He also what prompted someone from the Lassila family to desire to learn such a thing. Jace himself had the option of combat instructors in his youth, but chose not to as he never saw himself needing those skills. And for once, it was a decision his parents were in agreement with. Given their status, influence, and line of business combat training was not something necessarily needed. Especially with his parents Celebrar ability. That alone had made them quite formidable, and if he himself had been a celebrar as had been hoped, he would never have needed it either. Even now he was hesitant to partake in such a class. He had never held a weapon, a real weapon, in his entire life. There had been the fake ones he had wielded for show more than anything, but that was the extent of his experience.

Thinking on all the other classes available however, little held interest for him. The closest that would was music class but he did not believe he needed it currently and preferred privacy when it came to his music practices. He may go by there however to practice with the instruments he was familiar with outside of a designated class time. Which only left combat beginners as it was the class Eko was taking. Jace highly doubted he would be any good at it, he never did have a mind for combat. Thinking on it, he wondered if Eko would be any good at it. While he seemed unassuming there could be a hidden strength within him. 'Afterall, there are many stories of the few who rose to prominence from nothing.' Jace reasoned to himself. While the stories were likely embellished, there was likely some truth to some of them. He also wondered at his interest in it. Was he trying to prove something, or merely found comfort in being able to defend one self without the need of a raiment? It would be interesting to learn his reasoning but Jace did not desire to be so forward about it. Perhaps he could glean the information he desired by mere observation. Which then led Jace to thinking what he would gain from joining the class. It would likely be arduous and exhausting, and needless to say the possibility of humiliation was present, but perhaps there were some hidden benefits he had yet to think of. 'Prowess in martial combat would surely be something to be proud of. Perhaps it would even gain me a measure of favor...' Jace silently reasoned to himself. Given his distaste for his own Raiment, and lack of control, it would be good to fortify in another area to counteract that weakness. If he were able to hold an opponent off with skill in the sword as was romanticized in many a book, he may yet be able to find a way to return home sooner. After all, mastery of his raiment was so that he would be less of an embarrassment. If he returned a master of the sword, the raiment aspect may be forgotten entirely.

Feeling as if joining this class may be a wise choice in the end, Jace was about to speak before he noticed Eko had lowered his gaze and moved away. Having been distracted with internal thoughts, he had hardly noticed such a thing till now. It seemed he was still relatively nervous whereas Jace had already accepted him as at least an acquaintance. He idly wondered why he seemed so nervous but knew time was passing and he could not detain his roommate forever. "An interesting choice. I had yet to decide on a class for myself...but I think I shall join you next time. I could gain a deal from training more than just my mind. Though I shall admit I have no prior experience with such a thing, so I shall entrust you in guiding me." Jace would say with a smile on his face, slight excitement in his voice. He was fancying the idea of being a martial adept and was blissfully unaware of how much effort and training it truly required. The last part he added as he would not be attending this first class. He will have joined in late and had hardly prepared himself for it. Not to mention he was expecting a message from his family on this day as they had said they would write him on the current status of the household. It would take him sometime just to find where the letter would be delivered and knowing them he would need the day to sort through any requests if there be any. His parents, even in his current exile, never wasted a potential business opportunity.

Jace also now noticed him reach for and begin petting a strange little bird. It was a rather cute little thing, and seemed to bring a bit of comfort to Eko. He was briefly reminded how his family was forbidden from having any pets due to their naturally unclean nature. He felt a pang of envy that Eko had one but pushed the feeling aside. He hardly knew how to care for one if he were to ever even have the chance at having one. He had the urge to pet it but resisted it, seeing as he did not have the permission to do so and Eko seemed to desire some space between the two. Rising gracefully from his seat, Jace would walk a few feet forward before turning to face Eko. "Sadly I have business to attend to today and will be unable to remain any longer nor join you in combat class. Please do me the favor of letting the instructor know it is with sincerest apologies I cannot attend due to a personal issue and that I hope to go next time." Jace would say, prim and proper yet again with no sign of his earlier break from it. He would begin to turn away but paused midway as he remembered something. "Oh, and before I leave I just want to say your bird is rather cute. You'll need to tell me where you found such a creature and its name someday." With that last comment passed, with a more friendly smile this time, Jace would turn and enter the bathroom briefly. Less than a minute later he would walk out, hair and face far more presentable than earlier, and with a polite bow and matching smile he would exit their shared room to attend to some business.

Jace awoke that morning with a pounding headache. The last few days...had not been kind to the shifter. While he had romanticized the idea of having a pet, seeing several others with their own...He hadn't realized all it entailed. The very first issue was finding a place for the unique snake to sleep. It had a tendency to wander a little and not just stay beside him...Jace had wondered if he simply needed to train it or some such. He had used a box as a temporary place for it to sleep at first, resolving to to go to the library after shifter class. Long story short, the class was cancelled so Jace ended up going to the library early and renting a book about snakes. The very first thing that shattered the illusion of a well trained snake was...that you couldn't really train them. At least, not in the manner that he knew, or at least no one was successful in writing a book on the subject. His next greatest worry was feeding the thing...it apparently needed some live vermin of a small enough size for it to consume...Meaning, it the citys lack of pet shops...he either had to hire someone or hunt. Thankfully, his forays into the marsh helped him here...he had managed to find some rats with a little bit, and by a little an entire day of, clever trapping. When it didn't eat them after all of Jace's hard work he was furious at first. It wasn't until much later that he found out snakes did not eat very often and went for a good period of time between meals...so at least he now had a good supply to feed the snake...though he now had to feed those too... 'Why would anyone get a pet when they are so much work...' Jace despaired to himself, laying in bed as he recalled the events of the past few days. He practically slept with the book at this point, having no notion of how to care for a simple dog or cat, yet alone a snake which seemed to be the most complex pet in the world in terms of caring for it. It also shared his sensitivity to temperature...but worse. So he had to rig up a candle nearby it to keep it warm at night, and have a little bowl of water for it to cool itself off if it needed...

Turning his gaze to the box he knew it would not do. If it was to be his pet, monumentous responsibility and all, it needed to be as regal as he. Rising from bed and looking out the window...seeing how dark and dreary a day it was, he could not tell the time. He could be late for class already or way to early. 'I suppose I should depart soon regardless.' He thought to himself. He hoped he would not be late, but if he were, it would be better to show up than not at all. Quickly changing, and donning his clothes while preparing himself in all other manners to look his best, he gazed back at the snake briefly. As much of a pain as caring for it was...he did genuinely enjoy its company, keeping it with him when he could. He still had not decided on a name for it...but he could deal with that later on, or on his route to class. "Speaking of which..." He said mostly to himself, he would pick up umbrella to take with him. It was as ornate and befitting a royal as he, so it would suit his purposes.

Jace had spent most of this morning preparing after he heard of the event. His clothes were set, having only really had fanciful clothing though missing the minor refinements that truly separated a wealthy noble form a poorer one, but it would have to do on this island as he had no time to gather new ones, nor would he subject himself to being given inadequate cloth. If he desired new clothes, he would write his family so the ones who they traded with that made their own could send something based off his prior measurements, given he did not change much if at all. Still, there was more to do and focus on than his attire. Jace spent hours before the dawns first light combining and fixing his hair, providing a thorough cleaning to his face and body. Making sure to go a bit more so than usual in his cleanings and applying some more exotic perfume. Satisfied with that, he had to decide on a theme for outfit. He could always go with his usual and favored one, but that would hardly be fitting for such an event. He decided to do something simple for it, yet still striking in his mind. He chose an outfit near identical to his usual (his post format picture) but with the black and white color switched. leading to a primarily black fabric on his torso with white on his limbs. Satisfied with this he would look at his little charge as the snake lay curled in its box. He could leave it here...but he did not know of anyone that he found to be pleasant company that was going. The snake, at the least, would provide a bit of companionship at the least if he happened to spend the evening alone.

"It seems you shall be joining me this evening. Shame I do not have an outfit for you as of yet, I shall need to fix that before our next outing. For now though, I suppose you'll have to attend in the nude, not that I would think you'd mind." Jace spoke aloud freely to his snake, not having seen Eko in the room today and so felt he could speak freely. The snake was smart, any who said it wasn't would be in for a rude surprise for underestimating it. He didn't know if a snake could even keep an outfit on without it falling off, or if he should bother to do so till it was older given that he read it should grow a fair bit larger than it was currently. Still, those were issues for another time. Reaching into the box, Jace would pick up his dual headed snake and place it in a small satchel he kept on his side so he had free use of his hands and didn't need to worry about it slithering to places it was unwelcome. He soon headed out the door afterwards, closing it behind him.

Jace had spent this day of mourning in his room rather than attending the service for it. No matter the formal expectation for such an event to show he could not force himself to do so. Even if it had been a long time since the actual attack happened, the day seemed to make it seem like it all had happened just yesterday. He could feel the fear of losing his life just as clearly as he had then. He could hear the screams...he shook his head to clear those memories from his mind. If he had gone to that event, it would only worsen all those memories in his mind and bring it painfully close to the surface. Part of him wanted to forget it ever happened, push it away so that it could no longer have such a hold over him. Another part knew if he did that he would flee like a coward if that situation ever happened again. And he very much did not desire for history to repeat itself, he did not desire to be so fearful as to flee at the first sign of danger. Both in respect to his family name and to himself, for if he did something like this now...how could he ever hope to protect his siblings in their time of need? Even as a...shifter, there were still things he could do, abilities that could have helped now that he had time to think on the situation as it had come up. He could have helped...if he understood his power better than he currently did. Its why he had spent so much of his free time practicing, and while still being unable to fully shift he was much better at his partial shifts. Looking over to Hamlet and Ophelia, his two headed snake, he reached out his hand slowly to it to allow for it to ascend his arm. It had grown a little, an inch at most, but Jace could feel it as it coiled and slithered up his arm. It stopped and came to a rest on his chest, Jace having been laying on his back on his bed for the last hour or so. Its presence alone was soothing to him, to know he wasn't entirely alone. His thoughts briefly went to tala and his own companion, how his snake and the hound seemed to get along somehow, no doubt something to do with Silthar being the one who gave them both. Content to just lay like this with Hamlet and Ophelia, Jace would spend the day lost in thought as he mourned in his own way.

Jace was curled up in his dorm, enjoying the warmth of his bed and that he was not expected go anywhere. The weather was better than normal today in this dreaded season, so Jace was content to take full advantage of it. 'A nice book to read while in good company.' He thought to himself happily as he had a book in bed with him. His twin-headed snake was in his bed as well, content to explore the darkness beneath his bed sheets. It was much less affectionate than he had been expecting when he had seen how many other pets were, but he did not mind it. It allowed him to do other things as it enjoyed itself. His current book was one he had brought with him from Langfrey but had scarcely the time to fully read it, despite being here for a small while already. It was a good read as well, which was all the more reason why he felt content to be where he was. 'With luck I shall be able to finish it today.' He thought to himself with hope. It had been a very hectic time here since he first came. Settled for what he hoped would be a long day of reading and relaxing, Jace would have a soft smile on his face as he continued his reading.

Jace had awoken later than usual that morning, with it being a free day and all. And it was a lovely morning to have woken up to at that. Unlike all the other days of winter where the snake shifter had been doing his best to not die to the cold weather, for both him and his scaled companions, this was a day where he did not truly feel the need to be so bundled up and averse to heading out doors. Not that they were in the midst of winter any longer, thankfully, but there were still some extremely cold days that occasionally popped up. It was by far his most hated season of them all in this land, and he disliked the idea of having to endure it again later when it inevitably came up again. 'I am not finishing my time here in so short a time span.' He silently thought to himself. Still, it only meant he would have to enjoy his time in these warmer months. Arising from his cozy bed, the snake shifter would stretch for a good little moment and yawn. It did nothing to make him more awake, but at least it would make movement easier for him. He would start his day as usual with one of his more important tasks; giving a mouse to his snake in its home. It was not a live one, for he usually stocked for a weeks time whenever he got mice for his snake. The live one was usually only on the first day. As Ophelia and Hamlet went about their meal, Jace would go about changing from his simple pajamas to an outfit that would be more presentable to leave the room.

It would be his usual and most favored attire that he wore, with much less layers than how it was in winter. It felt nice to don it and not feel so much weight added onto it. 'This weather is far more to my liking.' He thought to himself with a smile, satisfied. He would review his plans for the day in his mind, trying to sort through what he needed to do. 'There are some books I need to return and others I need to acquire, and I do have that commitment with Tala and Fea later... So perhaps I shall take care of the books first so I feel no rush once meeting them.' He reasoned to himself. He had been studying snake based books to better understand the creature he was to turn to, but was far from the level of knowledge in said category as he would like. Further, he may just choose to retire after their meeting in the gardens to read. It was quite a lovely place to be after all. With the goal set in mind, Jace would gather his books and would place them in a small satchel bag that he donned. It would be far more convenient than carrying it around by hand at the least. Once that was said and done, he would walk over to where the snake enclosure was to see the mouse he had placed inside it was no more. Smiling that they had their breakfast, he would pick up the snake. It had grown a fair bit since Jace had first acquired it, now measuring roughly two feet in length. The snake would slither up Jace's arm, and disappear into his outfit. Content the snake was secure, Jace would depart from his room to go to the library.

Jace did not awake in the best of spirits. It could be said that he didn't awake at all... at least not when he was supposed to. The young shifter awoke with a loud sneeze that made him half rise from his lying down position for the bed before falling back. Tired and sick, his eyes slowly opened to an all too bright light that should have been nowhere as bright. Squinting immediately and grumbles softly under his breath, he turned so the light would not be immediately stinging his eyes. He groaned in sickness and slight pain, feeling pretty bad. A sleep cloud in his mind, he would slowly begin to wake a little... then shot up in panic. 'I have cla-' He began to think before "Achoo!" His loud sneeze resounded in his bedroom. That was not a good sign. He slowly willed himself into a sitting position on his bed, but that took a decent chunk of energy from him. "This does not bode well..." He quietly said to himself. While he desired to go to class, he figured he should go by the school doctor first at least. If he was deemed unfit he would have a reason, if he was deemed fit he would go to class. He would rise fully from bed, a bit shaky, and dress himself before leaving the room.
