Oh how sweet the irony was, he had left his pride where he had been the bottom of the food chain there, and now he was the bottom of the food chain here. Good news was he could at least have a life here and move up in class if he found someone outside of his current one. Overall he was a little glum about the whole thing but he was alright with the circumstances.It could be worse, he could be wandering around the rogue lands without a home still. So he considered himself lucky.
Sitting down next to the main water source in the pride he looked down at his reflection and stuck his paw in the water and swished it around a little bit. Maybe he could catch a fish or something if he was lucky. He'd never really tried it before but he wasn't against trying now.
He would just have to find a decent spot to try from.
For the first time in a very long time, things were finally starting to feel settled and right. Or, if not right, less wrong. Shangyue's reign had been...tumultuous, to say the least, traumatic for the pride, but with his death and the ascension of their new Queen, there was hope for a better future. Balam couldn't help the lingering unease that refused to leave her still, that kept her restless and on edge. No matter how much time passed, a part of her felt like this was only a brief period of calm, destined to end and end badly. It was hard to trust that it would last, and that everything would be alright.
