[PRP] It's Totally Not a Setup (Vleis x Tatsuwa)

A totally inconspicuous gazelle stood munching on grass that was low to the ground, head bowed chewing slowly he was completely unaware of his surroundings. Vleis was a young gazelle, just hitting maturity, who felt - as most teenagers do - that he was completely and utterly invincible. Who was going to mess with him? He was fast, and at the prime of his life! Was he supposed to be skittish and run with a herd? Of course! Was he? No! Vleis was a rebel, albeit a dumb one, and he was going to live life to its absolute fullest.

Out here the grass was sweet and the breeze felt nice through his fur, he wasn't going to heed any warnings. His mother said to avoid places that seemed too perfect, especially if you didn't see anyone else grazing. That meant predators and danger.

"I don't see any danger," Vleis mumbled with a mouthful of grass.

Vleis munched, jaw grinding back and forth as he chewed and thought. This place was pretty excellent, the wing mark gazelle thought he should probably tell his buddy, Radi, about it. Radi had been a wild dog he sometimes spent time with, both were about the same age.

He was oblivious to the lioness stalking him, and lost in thought about Radi and the adventures the two cocky youths would get up to someday. Currently they had done one stupid thing together - taunt a crocodile. He cracked a goofy smile thinking about how they had shook their rumps at the crocodile. Thinking about it made him wiggle his back side and tail back and forth as he did that day in a "neenur neenur" fashion. Life was indeed good!

He continued his ridiculous little rump shaking, he had to admit to himself he had rhythm.

shake...shake..sha-

Vleis froze mid tushie twerk and paused to listen to what he thought was someone laughing. It was a quiet sound, there and then gone. The gazelle very slowly looked up mouth hanging open in shock and surprise as he found Tatsuwa watching him.

He was brave, he was smooth, he was damn near debonair, but he wasn't prepared to look up and see a predator frozen in place staring at him.

"AHHHHHHHHHH!" Vleis screamed an incredibly manly scream and started to look around for other lions, lions hunted in groups didn't they? Oh gods, why hadn't he listened to his mother. He inhaled sharply and continued his scream head pivoting around wildly.

Okay, man, compose yourself, you've got to live to tell the tale of surviving this and rubbing it in Radi's face.

The flailing and screaming stopped, he needed to quickly think of a way to get out of this. He hadn't been reminded that he had dangerous horns atop his head, he was reminded that she was a big lioness, even more so when she lowered herself and so much of her seemed to disappear.

Vleis glanced and looked for somewhere to hide; a few spotty trees, and he wasn't elegant in trees, he wasn't really elegant anywhere. He composed himself, turned on his cocky strange swagger and started to bolt towards them, he hoped by looking like he was heading for cover he would be able to escape in the open land around it, he hoped he could out run her. It was possible Tatsuwa was a fast as him, but gazelle had stamina.

He gave his rump a little extra twitch, it would be important to the story later that he shook his rump at a lion. Radi was going to love this!

Her growling did do quite a bit to psych him up, it reminded him he wanted to, no, needed to - live! Why else go no cool adventures and leave the herd if you're not going to live this crazy life to the fullest!

He headed straight for the trees, he got to the first one, ducked behind it and then veered to the left for open ground and hopefully away from her. There was a lot of open ground to cover.

Vleis almost looked back to see how she took the turn through the trees, he wanted her to wear down, he needed to escape and get out of here. His heart was pounding and he was deciding if his legs were strong enough to kick her if she got too close, or if she would come close enough to his horns.

Taking a quick glance over his shoulder to see were Tatsuwa was he noticed that she seemed to be slowing and he was feeling a burst of adrenaline, he really was going to live through this! He was invincible!

Feeling a little swagger and pride build up inside of himself he shook his rump, in a much more obvious fashion than before, did a little skip with his feet and pushed himself further running. He was feeling powerful and fast.

His day started with sweet grass and a cool breeze, and ended with a pretty amazing story to tell his friend. Of course he was going to leave out the part where he screamed in a lion's face. He would tell it as if he was cool, calm, and collected the entire time. Which was like, totally the truth, man.
