Name: Vesresh
Age: 20
Sex: Male
Sexual Orientation: Low interest, female preference overall
Craft: Dragonhealing (Apprentice Rank, currently suspended for candidatehood)
Rank: Candidate
Location: Western Weyr

Physical Description:
Vesresh is a handsome young man, somewhat on the thin side. He is very pale, with a generous allotment f freckles betraying his time spent outside, most visible when he blushes. His vivid, coppery red hair, though kept short, is thick and ill-behaved, cascading chaotically around his head no matter how he tries to force it into order. His face is round and delicately boned, with lively blue eyes and an exceptionally charming and sweet smile.

He wears normal candidate garb, though he has a belt with a simple design of dragons embroidered on it that he received as a gift from his family. It keeps his pants up and is a prized possession of his, one he is reluctant to put away.

Personality:
Vesresh seems like an ideal. For sure, he's someone's dream boy – he is handsome and charming, sweet and sensitive, and a wonderfully enthusiastic conversationist. He loves social interaction and is suitably attentive to the needs of other people and, moreover, he is not confrontational. Esre is very creative and has a good head on his shoulders. He loves to draw and color pictures of riders and dragons around the Weyr, and is good for an untrained artist, with some raw talent, but he has no intention of training it - it's just for fun.

Timid and modest, he might not defy someone to their face. However, his sharp mind also translates into a surprising degree of cunning. He might do so stealthily if he felt it was deserved. Mostly, though, he isn't so bold. Though he has opinions he believes in strongly, he falls apart when expressing them, making him seem weak. Even though he considers himself to be all grown up, he still relies on his sister's protection.

Although social, he keeps his deepest concerns to himself -- it's none of anyone's business outside the family, and his siblings have enough on their plate. He also has a darker edge to him: Vesresh's loyalty is not to his friends, or to the Weyr, but to his family (his sisters Vesin and Vosin, their dragons, and his older brother) and himself. In that order. He adores his older siblings and appreciates how they have protected him, and how much they love him. He would do anything for them, even risking himself. However, for all he cares, the Weyr could burn down with all his friends in it; As long as he and his sisters and their dragons are safe, that is all that matters.

Other dragons come a close third, though. He does love dragons, hence his craft. If he can make a dragon happy, or heal their wounds, it's a good day.
An interesting note about dragons: Having grown up around dragons, finding them beautiful and interesting, and having a loquacious Gold like Killakeeth in the family, Vesresh is very used to directly talking to dragons. He often addresses them directly, usually to ask permission to draw them. Also, if he ever has a long-term lover, it will be because he became interested in their dragon first.

Positive Trait List
Charming: Vesresh is a pleasant, socially adept young man who makes friends readily with his good attitude and sweet smile. For the most part, it's all real, though he is able to put on a mask for the crowd.
Creative: Vesresh doodles, but his creativity goes further than that. he has good ideas, though he might be less than thrilled at sharing them with people he doesn't know or trust.
Devious: The boy has a sneaky side. Since he isn't confrontational, but still wants to find solutions, he finds ways around his problems and uses his creativity to great effect.

Negative Trait List
Timid: Vesresh hangs back. He's not bold. He doesn't speak up. To all appearances, he's sort of a pushover.
Secretive: Vesresh keeps a smile on his face, but keeps himself... to himself. His business is no one else's business, and everything stays in the family.
Dependent: Vesresh can be a little rebellious at times, but he still, always, falls back on his sisters protection and advice (and that of their dragons.) Whenever something is uncertain, whenever he doesn't know what to do, Esre runs to big sis Vos or Ves, and does whatever they tell him.

History:

Vesresh was born at Benden Weyr. Not surprisingly, both parents were riders. Low-rank chromatic riders, but riders none the less. He was the fourth of four children, and he adored the hell out his older siblings, including Vesin and Vosin. While the twins caused trouble, he would follow after them like an adoring puppy.

When he was 6 turns, the family moved from Benden to Telgar hold, but Vesresh never lost his love of dragons. After living there for a while, the twins, then in their rebellious teens, tried to run off to join a Trader caravan. Vesresh knew about it, and helped them, but ended up being left behind because, at 10, they thought he was too young to come with him.

The quick discovery and retrieval of the twins was, unintentionally, his doing -- his parents knew their children, and it wasn't hard for them to extract the information from the crying Esre. Though the twins were upset with their brother for "ratting" on them, they quickly forgave him. It was hard to be angry at their brother (though they tease him about it from time to time.)

By the time Vesresh was 11 turns, he was fully forgiven. They returned to a weyr and he began to thrive. This weyr was Western, where his parents were able to rise in the ranks despite being chromatic riders. Vesresh quickly absorbed the more progressive stance of the weyr and, surrounded again by dragons, he began training as a dragonhealer. He learned this craft until he was of age to become a candidate.

Though he did want to stand of course, like any good weyrbrat and dragon lover, he waited until he reached a milestone in his studies (a good point to leave off) before... not quite reluctantly... moving into the candidate lifestyle a turn or so late.

Being a candidate was rigorous, bordering on too rigorous for young Vesresh, but the opportunity for a dragon -- and being around all of the dragons, and standing for clutches -- was well worth it. By the time he stood for his first clutch, his sister, Vesin, had impressed to brown Kelilayth, giving him hope and support. Vosin impressed to gold Killakeeth when he was 14, in a sense giving him a whole new "sister" and dear friend.

The gold, being one of the uncommon dragons that bespoke other humans, became a big influence on him. For better, or worse, she encouraged the young teenager to loosen up, to open up, to smile and talk and chat with other people.

And Vesresh did. His late teens did not bring impression, but they did bring a blossoming of his character. He was doing well for himself, and everything seemed good: his family was healthy, his sisters and parents were fully en-dragoned. And, even if he did not Impress to one of his favorite creatures he would have a job working with dragons and making them better. He was happy, and, bit by bit, he was growing into a (more or less) confident attitude.

And then Thread.

At age 19, at the cusp of adulthood, his parents -- and their dragons, as much family as they were -- were lost to thread. For a boy as close to his family as he was, Vesresh was devastated. He reacted by retreating, falling quiet, and pulling close to his siblings and their dragons.

He's still a candidate, and as far as his fellow candidates are concerned, he isn't too effected. He is still ready to stand for clutches. He still smiles.
But he's hurting. He's afraid. After all, Vesin flies during Threadfall and Vosin and Killakeeth travel all over Pern, everywhichwhere. He is always on the lookout for anything that could hurt his family again and if they ever need him, he will be there.

After all, they've always been there before for him.

Candidate Specific Questions
Do you want them to have an official Search RP? Already at the Weyr
Do you understand they will age every passing year regardless if you're there to RP the or not? Yes
Do you want them to have a possible Stands Impression? Yes
- - - > Please keep in mind that Stands Impressions are very rare. This means that not everybody will get an opportunity to have a surprise Impression, and you lower your chances of being picked by a dragonet. Given the character is not ICly an official Candidate, they will need a reason to be at the Weyr of their choice long-term, or at least for every Hatching.

So, I'm really only seeing the "dependent" trait as maybe a flaw. Please look over your other traits and examine what about them might actually cause real consequences for Vesresh.

Additionally, it is not uncommon in EoP canon for dragons to talk to people who are not their riders. Just wanted to note that, since it features in his history.
