Name: Joephi
Age: 7
Sex: Female
Sexual Orientation: Unknown - not important right now
Craft: Weyrbrat
Rank: n/a
Location: HRW
Physical Description:Joephi lost her left eye with the return of thread about a turn ago, with scars curling across that side of her face. The remaining eye is warm brown. Wild, light amber brown hair that brushes the tops of her shoulders, and constantly looks like she's rocking a bedhead, all wavy, slightly curly, and kind of fine in texture. She never really does anything with it. She brushes it to keep it from tangling, though you wouldn’t know it to look at her. The benefit of keeping her hair loose and free to move about also means that she tends to use it to conceal her scarring. Joephi is a girl that is on the short side for her age, but is where she needs to be weight-wise.
Personality: From her earliest days, the nature of Joephi's family's jobs as traders, she was encouraged to keep her material possessions neat and orderly, everything in its place. Due to their frequent travel, if one didn't stow their things away and safely, they risked their belongings in being left behind, lost, or damaged. It was a lesson that stuck. She almost finds comfort in making her bed, doing and folding her laundry, and keeping her spaces orderly. If someone or something were to disrupt her peaceful tidiness, she suffers a sort of anxiety spike. Partially due to the previously mentioned 'if it's out or not in order, might get lost or damaged', but also because she simply doesn't have much in the way of stuff anymore. With her birth family having been killed, she's had to start from scratch. She's got absolutely nothing left from her caravaning days, only what she's gotten since leaving the Healerhall and becoming fostered.

The trauma she's lived through has produced an aloof little girl who tends to keep folks at arm's reach for a while. It takes some time for her to get used to a person enough to open up fully to them. If someone tries to push the issue or doesn't accept her want of personal space or a longer period of adjustment, they just may find themselves avoided like the plague. Dragonriders, especially more open or laid back ones, might find her more inclined to spend time around them. Dragons have become a bit of a weakness of Joephi's since her rescue. A flip side of this aloofness is that she is at the core of her an independent girl. Always having been encouraged to explore new things by her birth family, to be open to new foods or music, or to pursue whatever may be of interest to her, she's pretty open to new situations she finds herself in. Joephi especially enjoys listening to people talk, tunes in during her classes, and follows what her foster parents tell/order of her. Her penchant for listen can also sometimes unintentionally drift into eavesdropping territory.

Joephi is still very much grieving her loss and dealing with the things she's seen and experienced (witnessing the deaths of her family) before finding herself living in High Reaches. In quiet moments or when once special days draw near, she becomes more withdrawn, melancholic. She's recovering still. It's a lot for a seven turn old to process. She's hurting. If asked, she'll bluntly answer the inquiry. She tends to be very frank in her speech in general anyway. She doesn't try to be rude and will apologize if anyone is ever off put by the tone of voice used.

Positive Trait List Independent, neat, a good listener, purposeful
Negative Trait List Aloof, anxious, blunt, melancholic
History: Her family had been caravaneers, traders, unofficial deliverers of package and parcel. It was all she knew. Always moving place to place was exciting to the youngster. The myriad of people they got to meet, places to see, foods and music to sample from, it was just fantastic. Joephi never felt a loss for not having a consistent homestead to return to at the end of the day. Her family and the caravan were her home. At least, until they had been caught out of Weyr when threadfall began. They had been between Weyrs, on their way towards High Reaches Weyr when they were caught out in the open. There was chaos, screaming. People scattered, desperately searching for cover of any sort. Theirs wasn't a major caravan, they didn't have a rider escort. People and animals alike began dying. Joephi's immediate family were the last to fall, her parents first as they were shielding Joephi and her elder sister in their sprint to cover. Her sister shoved her towards the small stone outcropping they had come across. She didn't want to be alone! They were supposed to stay together, to hide together! That was the last thing their parents had told them! Blinded by tears, she raced back out to her sister. Her sister was already gone. Her grief was great, greater perhaps than sense or survival instinct in that moment. A small tangle of thread drifted and struck her face, having not seen it for her mourning. While her family had been taken from her, Joephi's luck hadn't completely run out. Some High Reaches sweep riders had found her just in time. One had scooped her up and popped between to save her life, though her eye was already damaged beyond saving.

The next thing the girl remembered was waking up in a healer hall, kind of foggy, kind of hurting, and with some serious bandaging over the left half of her face. It took her several weeks of recovery before being cleared to go live in the creche. Not too long after, she was placed in a foster family. She gets along with her foster parents pretty enough as they seem to understand the sort of trauma she went through and gives her some space when she needs it, and support when she needs it most. (In the aftermath of seeing her family die and her whole world be turned upside down, she deals regularly with nightmares and headaches.) The only person in the foster family that gives her pause is her younger foster sister, an overly chipper, clingy, people pleaser who tries to do everything in her five turn old power to make people smile. This penchant tends to drive Joephi up the wall, so when she starts to feel overwhelmed, she'll head off to do school work, help with chores, visit friends around the Weyr or in the creche, perhaps amiable dragon and rider pairs if she's lucky.

Weyr life was something that wasn't foreign to the girl, as she and her family would routinely make rounds from Weyr to Weyr. She knew what would be expected of her and she has been adjusting accordingly. The fact that Thread robbed her of all of her birth family hasn't frightened the girl from planning her future. Thread doesn't really scare her. It makes her angry. She wants to become a dragonrider one day so that she can fight it, to maybe do her part in helping protect others from losing their loved ones as she did. And, if that's not in the cards, maybe a Felinehandler. Depending on how much she mellows with time and if she doesn't find a partner in a dragonet, she may fall into a cooking discipline of some sort.

Other: I'm planning on building a huge support network for this little lady and will probably work toward getting her a flit companion.

Two things here:

1. Threadfall started two Turns ago.
2. The description of how she lost her eye is unrealistic. She would probably have died between the time that the thread got to her eye and when the rider took her between. That is an avenue right to her brain, and that should have killed her.

May I suggest instead that as they were rescuing her a tangle hurt her? Or that she ducked into water to drown it? Or else she needs to have lost her eye a different way.
