We're running an errand, nothing more.
Vetica had to remind her beloved green this quite firmly, considering that any time she allowed Shanaloth to meddle and mingle as she so wished, they ended up spending far longer in any place than they ever meant to. Shanaloth considered it all good and fun - Vetica also would have considered it all good and fun, if Shanaloth could have mustered up any gusto for her beloved rider to actually strike up or hold a conversation. Ah, it was an unfortunate aside, but the sort of thing that was the very reason why Vetica was so sharply pointed about it all.
An errand so quick and easy that when the pair had landed in the hold, Vetica again had to remind Shanaloth to stay right there, while she went to find the right person to talk to. Unfortunately, that was code for 'Shanaloth is going to sniff and snoop about all of the younglings'. A few small children here - no, too young - and a few older over there -no, no, they had no sensitivity to her, it seemed. Oh, she was going to go fussing about whether Vetica told her no or not!
It seemed there was a young (well, by comparison to her dear Vetica, after all) man out in one of the fields, and he sent the little green chirping, a giddy wave of excitement vibrating across the mental tether she shared with her lifemate. Vetica paused in the middle of what she was doing. What did you find? You wandered! There was no immediate answer as Shanaloth carefully (well, as carefully as a large dragon could) made her way across the plot of soil that Sylyas had been working away at.
There was little warning as she shoved her face up close to his, kreeling delightedly. Oh, hello? oh, she had such a good feeling. Vetica, on the other hand, found it quite imperative that she finish up her OWN business inside and get out to wherever her dragon was STAT.

Nothing really interesting happens when you are an apprentice, almost journeyman, farmer. You dig holes, plant seeds, water 'em, and then harvest them. It's not every day you find a green dragon picking her way through the plant life to stick her face in yours. He almost fell over but managed to catch himself at the last moment, pressing against a klah tree.
He had always watched the dragon riders from afar but they seemed so otherworldly to him, something out of a dream rather than reality. And he had never been this close to a dragon before. She was lovely in the way only nature could be. "Ah, h-hello." He stuttered a bit, what would a dragon want with him? And where was her rider? Did she have a rider? Of course she did, that was their thing, right? He suddenly felt very uncomfortable. If she did have a rider, what would they want with him? He was just a dirt-covered farmer. Maybe he should've washed up.
"Something.. I can help.. you with?"
Did dragons drink klah?

Sylyas' reply caused Shanaloth to perk up, eyes whirling between green and blue. Oh! Oh Vetica! Come look! I found something! she cheeped and trilled, clearly delighted as she looked the young man over. Vetica had to hold in a sigh of annoyance. Of course Shanaloth had found something! When did they get out anywhere without the green getting into something?
While Vetica started her search for her own dragon, Shanaloth nudged her nose into Sylyas' chest, as if inspecting him. Do you like dragons, Sylyas? she dug up his name with relative ease, though it had not been offered. Though she was too polite to pry farther than that. Psychic dragons had to be responsible after all. Then, with a sudden trill of alarm, she looked back behind her, where Vetica, scowling, had just thumped an open palm against her rump.
What are you doing, Shanaloth? she demanded without a word. Shanaloth didn't seem to mind, looking back to the young man stuck between a Klah tree and a green dragon - though really the tree was more dangerous than she was!
I like him!

He made a little noise of surprise as she drew closer, her nose against his chest. The question she posed was something he'd never really thought about. After all, what kind of dragon rider does an orphaned farmer make? Maybe that's not why she was asking. Then again, what else would a dragon want? To eat him maybe? Do they eat people? He shuffled a moment, gently moving to one side to unpin himself. "Well, I don't not like dragons? But you're the first I've ever met.."
At the sound of her thrill, he pushed himself further back. Wide-eyed he moved to look behind her, surprised to see an older woman. She must be the green's rider. And she didn't look particularly happy. Had he done something wrong? Was he rude to the dragon in some way?
But then she look at him again and he wasn't so sure. He knew dragons and their riders had a bond. Maybe they were talking. About him. He suddenly felt even more nervous, his cheeks flushing under the drying dirt. "I'm sorry." He spoke softly, holding his hands up.
