[PRP] When We Were Kids

Realm: Crystal Forest
Doggos Involved: Wezen (Bluedemonwolf) x Caelum (CascadingRayn)
Time of Day: Daytime (will continue over the course of a couple of days most likely. Also this takes place back when the twins were younger pups)


Wezen was in awe of the realm they were in. It was so silently beautiful right now. Fresh snow was on the ground and dusting the trees. There was the ice as well covering the trees and most of the land, the very feature that helped give this realm it's name. All of the creatures were still waking up after the snowstorm had hit and thus it was quiet.

Wezen left the cave that his family had been staying in to ride out the storm. He looked around and breathed in deeply of the fresh yet rather cold air. He grinned to himself. It was a good day to go exploring! Maybe he'd meet some new dwellers or oooohhh maybe he'd find one of those pocket bears! He had never seen one before but heard that they were adorable and not aggressive. He looked back to his family and spotted his twin. He gave Caelum a questioning look. Did he want to come with him? Their parents were too busy deciding on their plans for hunting and honestly they didn't mind the twins exploring.

Caelum found the snow on the ground to be like a soft wet cushion for his feet. He loved the feeling. But sadly, the longer he staying in a place to lay on the soft snow, the faster it disappeared into water. It was sad, and soon, the cave he and his family stayed in was kind of like a mush of mud and snow.

Caelum wanted to get out and play with more snow. So he wanted to get out there and play. So, when Caelum saw his twin wandering out of the cave, he gave him a look as if he wanted to ask what he was doing. If Wezen was going exploring, he wanted to go along too. It's always more fun to go out with someone then going alone.

Wezen noticed the look Caelum was giving him and tilted his head while putting his ears forward. "I'm going to go out and explore some. Do you want to come?" He asked. He didn't really wait for an answer. Instead he walked on leaving the lightly snowed entrance in front of the cave.

Once fully outside, he paused to see if his brother had followed. Then he turned to stare at the frozen trees. "Look at how pretty they are!" He exclaimed to his brother. Granted the trees were generally always like this and thus always pretty but just after a storm that added a fresh layer of ice and snow... well it just seemed magical to him.

Turning back to his brother he grinned. "I'm hoping we find something neat today! Do you think we could sniff out one of those little pocket bears? I've wanted to meet one ever since we heard the stories about them. Do you think if we do find one it'll follow us home like in the stories?"

Caelum followed his brother out of the den happily. He was glad to go along. He normally was quite timid. Its a good thing his brother understood him so well. He skipped in the snow, trying to follow his brother's exact paw prints. Caelum looked around him at the snow covered ground and the trees Wezen had pointed out. It was indeed very beautiful. The landscape was quiet too. It felt like another world to Caelum. It was the same forest the had been in before it snowed, but the snow changed everything.

Caelum did agree with Wezen. He really did hope he could find something interesting today. He gave his twin a nod as a reply and kept following him into the forest. It was a new adventure into the unknown world. While, his brother really wanted to find a pocket bear, Caelum was more interested in enjoying the silence and peace of this new world. He liked the silence and the peace it brought him.

Although, he sure would like to have a pocket bear. But they were so small. How were they supposed to find any?

Wezen looked back at his silent brother and saw the nod. He grinned and put his nose to the ground to sniff around. He had no clue what a pocket bear smelled like but he figured any strange scent would be good to follow. He did this for a while following a faint path into the forest.

It was some time before he stopped and looked around again. "Caelum... did you smell anything? Or hear anything? Cause I've got nothing. Just a couple of scents of jackalopes and some other doggos. I think one was dad too." He noticed that there was more snow about and less trees. They must have wandered quite a ways away from their cave and ended up at one of the clearings. He frowned a little as he noticed some snow beginning to fall down. It wasn't a heavy snowfall but it would start to make it hard to follow their tracks home if it kept up.

Caelum started sniffing for a pocket bear too. He smelled many things like the fresh snow on the ground, the scent of bark, and the grass under the snow. All these scents were familiar with Caelum. Most of all though, he smelled his brother. It was blocking almost everything else. It was safe to say his brother smelled. Still, he kept searching for who knows what scent. Without being able to find anything for a while, Caelum shook his head at his brother.

He continued to follow his brother and kept sniffing. Then, he saw his brother frown. What was wrong? Caelum turned his nose away from the ground to his brother. He saw his brother gazing at the sky. Well, it was snowing more now. But it wasn't that bad. Caelum walked over and said, "It should clear up soon. Should we keep going?"

Wezen looked over at his brother and then back at the falling snow. As quickly as he had noticed it was snowing, it wasn't. He waited a couple of minutes before speaking to make sure it wasn't going to start snowing again. "Well looks like it's cleared up already. I think we can keep going. It shouldn't have covered our tracks so we can always follow them home."

With that he began walking again. He sniffed around trying to catch any strange scents but mostly his nose felt cold. Due to that he wasn't really able to catch any strange scents. Pausing a little ways away from where they were he lifted his nose out of the snow and sneeze. He gave a little huff and shook himself before wiggling his nose. There it didn't feel so cold anymore. "Smell or see anything?" He called out.

Caelum nodded when his brother said to keep going. He kept sniffing, but again, he mostly just smelled his brother. He did try to walk off a little bit, but mostly nothing. "I'm sorry I only smell you," he called out. But still, trying right? He was the type to just follow his brother's lead.

His feet crunched on the soft surface of the snow. As he walked, he found himself finding peace, and sometimes forgetting that he was looking for a small little pocket bear. He would just get drawn into the snow and quiet world. Soon, he was pretty much just wandering near his brother, but then, sometimes snapped him out of his trance. There, he saw some small dents in the snow. Maybe they were foot prints? As he stepped closer, he thought they were, but he called his brother over just to make sure.

Wezen looked around wondering where his brother was as he wasn't behind him for once. He then spotted him off to the right of him. "What is it?" He asked trotting over. He looked down at what Caelum was looking at and spotted the dents in the snow.

Narrowing his eyes, Wezen leaned down for a closer look. It looked like tracks of some sort. But they weren't overly small like what he would expect for a pocket bear. Plus they looked kinda like their own prints. "I don't think this is a pocket bear print. But it kinda reminds me of a paw print like mom's or dad's." He looked over at his brother with his head tilted slightly, "Or even ours, just a little bigger." To show his point he placed his paw down near the prints to make a paw print. He then lifted it to show that it was the same basic shape just slightly bigger.

Caelum would be lying if he said he wasn't disappointed. Man, he wanted to do something cool. Too bad he was wrong about the tracks. Caelum's head drooped down to the ground in shame. He tried to sniff around some more, but he kept getting distracted by his thoughts. 'What if he was wrong again?' That would just make him feel terrible. As he kept sniffing, Caelum tried his best to find something that would be a pocket bear, just so he could redeem himself, but it seemed like this little creature did not want to be found, or maybe he just wasn't into the search anymore.

Caelum knew it was the later choice, but as much as he tried to tell himself it was okay to be wrong sometimes, he just felt inferior to his brother who could tell the difference right away. While trying to keep his spirit up, Caelum followed after his brother in their search.

Wezen didn't notice his brother's disappointment or his drooping head. He was too busy sniffing the prints and wondering what made them. There was no real scent left behind. The only thing sniffing did was make him think of cold. He finally lifted his head and looked at his brother. "Hey you know what these prints could be? It could be those Ice Wolves dad was telling us about!" He wagged his tail excitedly. While they weren't a pocket bear it would still be interesting to see an ice wolf.

He began to follow the tracks his goal of finding a pocket bear began to dim. The new goal of finding and seeing an ice wolf began to form. As he followed the tracks he also lost track of where they were and the weather. The heavy grey clouds began to gather with a few snowflakes began to drift down here and there while it began to grow colder and more windy. A hint of worse weather to come.

Ice wolves? That sounds interesting, but also dangerous to Caelum. But, if his brother wanted to find one, they might as well. Since they already found the tracks and just had to follow them to find the wolves. Caelum followed closely behind his brother as they followed the tracks. It was obvious his brother had forgotten about pocket bears already, and his mind had already moved on to finding ice wolves.

Caelum also noticed the coming storm coming as well. He looked as his brother questioningly for what they would do next. Should they go back? To him, the storm did not look very dangerous. It was probably just a continuation of the light snow they have been having. However, the new snow falling on the ground was covering tracks and the scents as well.
