[PRP] Sinkholes are Great

The day was young, the breeze was refreshing, and despite all the weird happenings lately, Sora just found himself enjoying his morning. He'd had a good breakfast, raced a few cheetahs (he lost, but he wasn't terribly discouraged about it. He'd get them next time!), and even found a great napping spot that he was planning on returning to.

Emphasis on planning, but he needed to find it again now. In retrospect, he should have stuck around it if he was going to come back.

So now Sora was searching for it, sniffing around and poking at random tiny holes the size of his paw. He didn't remember these being here last time, but everything else looked familiar, so maybe he just hadn't noticed it.

Conleth was out in the rogue lands as he had always been to his memory, his family life was nothing to speak of when he grew old enough to leave, he left and never looked back. Things had been very strange in the rogue lands lately nothing seemed to be normal anymore and he couldn't help but wonder what the cause was. He ended up standing near the other male before him. Conleth looked at them a moment to see if they planned to attack him or if this would be a pleasant interaction. He had no idea the ground under his paws was unstable.

Head down as it was, it took longer than it maybe should have for Sora to notice the other lion. When he did though, the brown feline gave a wide grin, "Hello!" He trotted a bit closer, not noticing the crackling under his feet.

"I'm Sora, who're you?" As he stood there, he rocked back and forth like a little cub, excited to meet someone new. His napping spot could wait -- now was the time to make a new friend. Besides, they might be able to help him find it.

Of course, his napping spot was long since gone, and had Sora been paying more attention, he would have noticed the gaping hole where it used to be. In fact, it was slowly crumbling away at the ground, closer and closer....

Looks like Conleth is going down, and Sora will stick around to help. xD Luckily for Conleth, Sora is the hero type.

Conleth smiled easily looking at the other male, still not noticing the ground below his paws giving away bit by bit. "Greetings, I'm Conleth nice to meet you Sora." He watched the male's movements and was glad they didn't look violent. He would fight if he had to but he would rather not since he was smaller then most of the other males around. Conleth should have been paying attention to the danger that was heading his way, but meeting a friendly lion in the rogue lands was a nice change of pace. "So how has your life been going?" He asked in a friendly tone.

He grinned from cheek to cheek, "Good! Lots of new things to find and see, lots of people to meet. How about yo-"

And then, finally, the ground gave way.

With a yelp, Sora scrambled backwards as the lion he'd just been talking to seemed to collapse downward, and then continued to backtrack and the ground followed. Or maybe the ground was what went first?

As the dust settled, he stared with wide eyes and chest heaving, before running over to the edge of the sinkhole, "Are you okay?!"

Conleth didn't really have a chance to react or yell as he fell into the sinkhole. He had not even had a chance to react to what Sora had said before he was down at the bottom of the skin hole looking up at Sora, his paw was hurt so he wasn't getting out of this mess on his own. "A little banged up and with a hurt paw, can you help me out of here?" He called up he was pretty sure he could jump high enough to have Sora be able to grab him but this was going to hurt, but he would do much better up there hurt then down in the skin hole starving to death.

"Yeah, of course!" He was glad the other was okay. A hurt paw wasn't great, but it was better than bleeding out and dying, he supposed. Now how to get him out.... There weren't any logs or anything to drag over, so that left just trying to grab him, he supposed.

With a determined nod, the brown lion crouched over the hole. "Jump up, I'll try to catch you." It'd be tricky -- he'd have to make sure he didn't hurt Conleth's paw even more -- but he was sure he could manage. He was great at catching things while moving.

Conleth nodded since he agreed with Sora's plan, it wasn't every day you found a vine or log out in the middle of the rogue lands, he was rather surprised that a large hole had opened up under his paws and dropped him into it. That was not a normal occurrence in the rogue lands. Sure the rogue lands were dangerous but sinkholes? Conleth steeled himself against the pain that would stab through his body as he jumped up to Sora so he would be able to get out of the hole. It was a large leap of faith putting his life in the paws of a lion he had just met but he didn't have much choice in the matter. Conleth jumped putting himself on the line for a chance to get out of this hole.

As the other lion leapt towards him, Sora bunched his muscles and dug his back paws into the ground, hoping to prevent himself from tumbling in as well. Throwing his arms forward, the brown lion gripped onto Conleth's sides and then dug his teeth into the scruff of the other lion's mane. He hoped he wasn't digging his teeth into skin, but it did help to get a grip on the other.

He grunted as they hung there for a second, pulling on the other's weight and trying to drag them backwards. It took some doing, but finally, Sora managed to pull the other up enough that Conleth was up and out of the hole.

Grinning triumphantly, he pulled his head back, "There!"

Conleth panted finally out of the hole thanks to Sora his paw hurt but it was better than slowly starving to death in a skin hole. "Thank you, Sora I owe you big time." He said once he had enough breath. He wasn't sure what to do next, how did you say goodbye and part ways with someone who just saved your tail?

Sora grinned, "No problem! I'm just glad I was here to help."

He paused to tilt his head to the side, observing the other for a moment, and then continued in concern, "You should probably rest somewhere for a bit. Want me to help you find somewhere less...." He glanced around them at the now-noticeably crumbling ground, "... volatile? It might be good not to be on your paw."

Conleth grinned "I think I'll be able to make it on my own thank you again Sora."

Sora nodded, "Alright, if you're sure." He frowned, wishing he could have gotten to talk more with him, but the lion probably needed to rest after all that. (and he'd been told that he can be a little... excitable sometimes)

So with a grin, he started turning away.
