The cheetah took an uncertain step back, fur starting to stand on end. His instincts were telling him that this wasn't going to end well, and whether he was questioning what it was or not, it was telling him to run. Which thankfully, as a cheetah, that's what he did best. As he started to turn though, he froze as he noticed the small black form standing behind him.
A cub. Right in the line of path of both him and the wind thingy.
Oh, this wasn't good. Throwing a panicked look back at the mysterious thing, he debated quickly over his options and then snapped back to the cub.
"RUN!"
And then he charged forward, trying to get away.

It quickly became obvious that the cub wasn't going nearly as fast as he was in order to get away. He wasn't quite sure what he expected with that, honestly. Lions already weren't as fast as cheetahs, but a lion cub? Their legs weren't as developed as an adult.
There was nothing else for it. He wasn't about to watch a cub get hurt. So, with a grunt, Roku veered direction and sprinted towards her. As he got close, he leapt forward, snatching her up by the scruff of her neck, and started running again.
Carrying a cub in his jaws was a lot more difficult than he'd thought. For one thing, he wasn't nearly as fast as he would have been normally, and that became painfully obvious when he glanced backwards to see the tornado catching up.

It was a good question. What did they do? The thing was almost upon them, and if he didn't act fast, they'd get swallowed by it. A quick glance around the landscape in front of him showed no cover... for someone as big as him, anyway.
He didn't even think as he sprinted towards a nearby rabbit hole, situated beneath a boulder. It should be deep enough for her, at least. Lowering his head quickly, he tucked the cub down as far under as he could-
And just in time, because the next thing he knew, he was being tossed into the air. With a yelp, Roxas tumbled sideways. He wasn't sure what was up or down anymore, and though it only lasted a few seconds, he felt like he'd been in the air for minutes before he crash landed a few feet away. He was fairly certain he'd heard something crack on his side, but he was too dazed to do anything more than just lay there for a moment.
At least the wind thing was leaving, not only moving away from them but also dissipating into nothing. Figures.

The cheetah chose to just lay there, winded, for a minute, before groaning as he rolled himself over onto his stomach. His side stung and sharp pains shot up his arm from his wrist, so he paused to take a mental inventory of himself. His side was probably just bruised, but as he moved his paw, he was fairly certain he'd sprained it. Well, at least it would heal, he thought with a grimace. It meant no running for the next little while though.
He wanted to check on that cub though. Roku was pretty sure he'd secured her in that hole, but at the same time...
Standing up, he limped his way back over to her, and then poked his head into the hole, sighing in relief as he saw her huddled inside. "You're good to come out now." He pulled his head out and glanced around them again, "Whatever it was, it's gone now."
