Name: T’tain
Age: 38
Sex: Male
Sexual Orientation: Open
Weyr: Western Weyr
Rider Rank: Assistant Weyrlingmaster & Wingrider
Previous Rank/Craft: Wingrider
Physical Description: T'tain is muscled in a subtle way that can be completely hidden under clothing. Tallish (maybe 5'8 at a stretch) and slim, he isn't the most imposing visage with kind green eyes and blonde hair starting to go silver already.
Personality: T’tain is a man that can see both sides of an argument. He can understand why something is done one way or another as well as why it might be better to do it another way in someone else’s opinion. A shrewd man, T’tain doesn’t take things at face value. He knows his own mind and his own opinions, but is always willing to hear someone out. That isn’t to say that he will be swayed easily. His will is strong and it will take more than him understanding the person’s position to agree with it. T’tain especially believes in equality and nurturing, and while he can see why others might not, he will always follow that path.
He can be a bit sly though, quietly putting things, ideas, or suggestions, into place to change the outcome to his suiting. Whether or not it suited the other person didn't matter. He has a penitence for meddling and trying to shape the way events turn out. It isn’t an outward order or suggestion every time, though sometimes it is. He knows that his meddling will not always be well received and can hide it behind kind words and thought provoking ideas. People don't really like being meddled with, so when the figure it out, and people do figure it out at times, things go sideways to his plans. He's lost friends and gained an enemy or more. Maybe it should bother him more.
Rationally, he knows that his meddling won't always be successful. There are too many variables for him to control all of them. Still, he doesn't always react well to when the plans go awry. He can sulk and mope about full of offended dignity. How dare the world not arrange itself according to his makings. So, maybe he is a little arrogant in thinking he knows best. But really, he is only trying to help. Shouldn't the world see that do as he suggests? It is all a little dramatic on T'tain's part and he loves to indulge in it when he can.
Found of the finer things in life, T’tain’s world is full of decadent aspects that weave themselves into his everyday existence. His clothing is well cut, soft, and richly colored. His weyr is well adorned and there are times when he will indulge in something just to indulge. Frankly, he isn't good at keeping money in his pockets and is perpetually short on marks. He enjoys being frivolous where he can because of all the places he can't be. So he goes overboard. He may be strong willed against other's changing his mind, but that only makes it harder for him to change his own at times. So if he wants something it is hard to deny himself it. Or so he claims. Really, he just doesn't want to.
The rest of the time, he is hard working and determined to see a task to the end. A task half done is not allowed. If one is going to do something, one must follow it the entire way through.
Positive Trait List Hardworking, Shrewd, strong-willed
Negative Trait List Decadent, Meddlesome, Sly, Indignant
History: T’tain is Western born and raised. It wasn’t to rider parents he was born, but to a kitchen worker and his beloved. He spent a lot of time in the creche as both parents helped out in the Weyr daily. T’tain admired dragons from the start and took began standing as soon as he was allowed. He stood for over 10 years determined to try every time and be there when his dragon hatched. Finally Thespeth arrived in a show of wings and tail to land on T’tain’s chest. The match was as perfect to T’tain as everything he had ever heard.
Weyrling training was easy in many ways. Concepts came quickly to T’tain and he excelled at memorizing wing patterns and other little details. The physical aspects were a bit more challenging as T’tain wasn’t the beefiest of men and had to build muscle quickly to keep up. The most difficult part, that should have been easy according to people he talked to, was getting used to sharing his entire life with another being. It was perfect and wonderful…and also daunting and annoying. Thespeth was patient though and understood that T’tain was not rejecting or annoyed with Thespeth as much as with the lack of privacy and overwhelming responsibility.
As a rider, T’tain and Thespeth never thought to go anywhere but Western. It shared his ideals, he loved the weather, he loved the people, it was home. No other Weyr could compare and T’tain couldn’t imaging him and Thespeth weyrless.
T’tain worked hard, played hard, and became something of a counsellor to many of his fellow riders. He would also often talk with Weyrlings and candidates that wanted to know more about being a rider and the struggles, joys, and adventures that could be had. T’tain hadn’t known growing up how much he would enjoy helping to mould young minds. It called to his meddlesome tendencies.
When Thread fell and the world changed, T’tain and Thespeth changed with it. They worked harder, faster, more determined to be the best rider pair they could, and more determined to be the best mentors possible. T’tain knew that day that things would never go back to the more carefree ways but that didn’t mean they had to go back to being the oppressive ways either. T’tain wants to keep Western’s culture even as they fight to save Pern and themselves.
As the number of dragons being clutched increased there was an increasing need for there to be more Weyrlingmaster assistants. When asked by the Council, he readily accepted the position.

DRAGON
Name: Thespeth
Age: 13
Color: Brown
Size: 40
Physical Description: This brown is trim and sleek. He tends a little more towards speed than strength and that is evident in his build. There are some ragged edges to his wing sails from thread fighting.
Personality: Probably the first things anyone ever notices about Thespeth is that he is a flamboyant dragon. Actions and words are flowery and over the top. He enjoys making a show. Really, Thespeth is a caring dragon that wants to hear your problems and give a shoulder to cry on. He struggles sometimes because he has a morbid sense of humor that is an acquired taste. But he is patient and willing to wait for all manner of things be it someone’s fears, waiting for the sputtering to stop, or dinner. Don’t try to win his heart, though. He is fickle in affections and will most likely never settle down.
