TRAIT Loyal Matt tends to cling to people he has become used to having around. He doesn’t like losing people be it from death or just the person not wanting anything to do with him anymore, Matt hates it. So he stands behind anyone he gets close too. Very ride or die. Someone could probably show up at his flat after committing a crime and he would 100% help them.
TRAIT Troll Despite his fierce loyalty, he enjoys picking on people he cares about. It is never malicious he just enjoys making people squirm. And He tries to not go overboard with his joke and will back off before upsetting someone (except for Asher)

EARLY CHILDHOOD Matthew was born the second child of Thomas and Winona Younger brother of Asher Eccleston. Matthew doesn’t really remember their mother, as she left the family when the boys were very young. Because of this, their father was left alone to care for the two boys which meant that he was rarely home. This left Matthew and Asher to fend for themselves. Because of this, the brothers grew almost inseparable or at least in Matthew’s mind they did. At that age, he truly believed that his brother was the smartest and bravest person he knew. Despite their hardships, Matthew didn’t mind it all that much. Sure their dad wasn’t around, but at least they had each other. When Asher started showing signs of Magic and Matthew was amazed, especially when he found out that his brother was a Wizard! He was pleanestly surprised not to much later when he also started showing magic. It was unfortunately difficult for their father, being a muggle, to understand. But he didn’t cast aside the boys he simply continued to try his best...which meant still being gone all the time.

SCHOOL YEARS When Matthew started at Hogwarts, he thoroughly enjoyed himself. It was fascinating to be able to do the things they were doing. He quickly found his way into Music club as well, even saving up some allowance to get himself a rather cheap violin and began to teach himself how to play. He wasn’t the best to begin with but he kept with it and it ended up being his favorite instrument to play, along with the Piano once he picked it up. During his fourth year, Matthew and Asher started a band. It was just the two of them at first but they still enjoyed themselves. This is also when Matthew picked up song writing. This year that things kind of went badly for his brother though. His current girlfriend, who Asher actually truly cared for and was his first committed relationship, tried to cheat on him with none other than Matthew himself. Matthew, of course, turned her away and immediately went to tell his brother what had occurred. Needless to say...their relationship didn't end on good terms. Matthew didn't really approve of his brother's sudden sleeping around after this girl, but he wasn't going to stop him. After all Asher was hurting and if this is how he thought it would be healed then who was Matt to tell him otherwise. He decided to just be there for his brother when he needed him. Flash forward to his 6th year, he got with a girl that he had been crushing on since 3rd year, another muggleborn girl named Kathrine Plumer. It was a challenge for him at first. He had never been one for commitment, often going on a date or two with a girl before dumping them. But with Kathrine it was different.During Matt’s seventh year, their father passed away leaving the two boys completely alone.

POST-GRADUATION The men continued their band after they both had graduated, despite losing a few members and gaining new people, the guys kept it up. Even found a name for the band (that was unfortunately a name picked while everyone had been wasted one night and it just kind of stuck). Not too long after Matt graduated, he found out that he had a nephew. His brother had knocked up one of their fans and the woman had a son named, Ceallachán Ó Madaidhín, Needless to say, Matthew was less than surprised. Despite the baby drama, the band continued to build and thrive. Matthew himself even got engaged. Everything was going pretty good for the boys, up until Matt turned 23. He and Kathrine, now fiancee, were headed up North by car to visit and old Muggle friend of hers. The two unfortunately never made it to their destination, about halfway there they got into a bad accident being thrown off the road. The crash killed Kathrine and left Matthew severely injured. In the end the doctors had to remove Matthew’s left hand.

Matthew was in the hospital for quite a while. Thankfully his hoe of a brother got his act together and came to Matt’s side and helped him through the recovery process. It was hard, not only had Matt lost the love of his life, he also lost a limb. He went into a funk for a long while, throwing himself into his work for the band and trying his best to ignore the loss. Thankfully Matthew had his brother, the elder male would take him out drinking every so often, to the cinema and just kind of pulled him away from the hole he was digging for himself. Eventually Matthew was able to get a Magical Apparatuses so that he was still able to perform with the band at least at shows in the magical world. Because of this, he made sure to make songs that sounded good with or without the violin.

Eventually as a joke, Asher gifted Matthew a prosthetic hook and joked that he could be Captain Hook if he didn’t love clocks as much as he did. Matthew didn’t take offence to the gift and now wears it just about everywhere. He even makes up stories about how he lost his hand and why he had a hook hand now. Feeling that it was better to make light of the situation despite how dire it had been.

Recently Matthew found out that he also had a niece that his brother had failed to mention, Agnes McDonald. Needless to say Matthew gave Asher a talking to and also made sure he had no other Nieces or Nephews that he had yet to be informed of. This most recent year, Matthew took in his Niece after she had begged him to let her stay with him for the summer. He didn't really ask questions as to why she wanted to be away from home for the summer. But when the girl confessed her reasoning (her Grandmother saying that her Magic was a sin against God), he was livid. Once again Matt instantly went to his elder brother and informed him of what happened and deciding that Maura could stay with him as long as she needed.

When engaged with people he likes, he enjoys making them laugh. With people he doesn't like, he enjoys frustrating them. He rarely takes an argument seriously, but on the rare occasions that someone hits on a subject he actually cares enough to debate about, he's quick to suss out the holes in his opponent's logic and point them out. He generally considers it a win if he can both debunk their point of view, and find a way to make fun of them in the process.

xxx»» Asher likes to get away with things, and in his life, he's found that his options are generally to confuse, or to seduce. He's much more fond of the second option, at least where it pertains to women. He's never been shy about his love of women (or his aversion to commitment), and is quick to charm anyone who catches his eye. He generally only uses his charisma to get a woman into bed, completely honest about the fact that it's a one time thing. But, in a pinch, he's not above flirting to get his arse out of trouble, either.

xxx»» It always seems to surprise people that Asher is well-read. He enjoys a good book, and when left to his own devices, if he's craving solitude, he usually finds it in the pages of a novel. He has a particular love of the classics, and almost obsessively hunts down rare and collector's editions or his favorites. He has multiple copies of many, and will throw an absolute fit if he sees anyone messing with them.

xxx»» When Asher wants something, there's very little that will stand between him and getting it. He's stubborn as a mule, and quite resourceful. While he's typically fine with sitting back and letting the world pass him by, there are certain buttons that, if pressed, he will refuse to back down.

xxx»» Asher has always been extremely extroverted. In his youth, he tried to fill in the gaps in his own life, left by his absent mother and overworked father, with as many friends as he could juggle. He had a habit of ensuring he always had someone around to do whatever it was he had in mind, be it to go see a particular film or check out a museum. He figured that, the more friends he had, the less likely he ever had to do anything alone. His brother was always his first choice, and welcome to tag along, but having Matt around didn't always alleviate the loneliness, it actually heightened it because Asher felt responsible for him.

CURIOUS
xxx»» Asher's never been one to leave something alone when it piques his interest. He's prone to obsessively scouring the library for every bit of information he can find on a topic, and has lost more than a few night's sleep to the black hole that is wikipedia. It's often not even information that he finds useful, or could ever need; it's just information that's there, so he wants to have all of it. It can sometimes take a lot of nagging and even physical force to get him away from his most recent information binge.

CHILDHOOD
xxx»» Asher's first solid memory is his father telling him that his mother abandoned their family. He has vague snippets of memory before that, but that's the first clear recollection he has of his own life. His childhood was mostly happy, but there was always an undercurrent of fear that one day he would come home and discover that their father had left them, too. He clung, perhaps too closely, to his younger brother, both in an attempt to protect him and to keep him close. Their father was supportive, and he loved them, but as a single parent with two children, he struggled. He was constantly working and left the boys to essentially raise themselves. They became very self-sufficient and learned to rely on each other more than their parent.

SCHOOL YEARS
xxx»» Asher was sorted into Ravenclaw for his love of stories and his creative mind. He tried to focus on his studies, but found himself easily distracted by his classmates, specifically the girls. Despite his mother leaving them and growing up with no real examples of a real relationship, he was something of a romantic. He spent perhaps too much of his time trying to woo his crush of the month. Eventually, he committed to a long term relationship with a girl one year below him. They were together for almost a year, until he caught her attempting to cheat on him... with his brother. Obviously Matt wasn't interested, and he immediately told Asher. The girlfriend tried to save face, but the damage was done. Asher, in a fit of rather dramatic rage, swore off dating. He focused more closely on his studies, and focusing more on his musical endeavors. He and his brother had been playing at being musicians for years by then, but now without the distraction of romance on his mind, and a lot of built up pathos, he was more dedicated than ever. It was especially helpful when their father passed away, and Asher had a reasonably healthy outlet for his grief and anger.

ADULTHOOD
xxx»» Asher and his brother found success fairly quickly, both in the magical and muggle worlds. While they were never quite as popular among muggles, they still got a fair amount of attention. Still recovering from his break up, Asher enjoyed the attention a little too much; he managed to get two separate women pregnant within a couple of months of each other, and ended up with two children. Neither mother seemed to want much to do with him, aside from financial support, which he respected, even if it wounded his pride. He eventually stopped trying to meddle, and focused on his band and his brother, particularly when Matt was in an accident that took both the life of his fiancee, and one of his hands. Asher took on the role of supportive brother, figuring that his kids had their mothers and apparently didn't need him as much as Matt did, seeing as he and his brother didn't have anybody but each other.

xxx»» At least, that was the case until both children turned out to be magical. His son, it wasn't so surprising, since his mother was also magical. His daughter, on the other hand, came from a muggle family, so he hadn't been sure. As it was, he was happy to have an excuse to be more present in her life. It was difficult, since both children had grown up with him being a background figure in their lives, and thus didn't want much to do with him. It only got worse when they discovered they were siblings, a fact he had neglected to inform them of. He was already on such thin ice with them, and their mothers, he was being something of a coward in keeping that from them. Things got worse, but also easier, when they discovered the truth.
