◊ CYNICALXavier is convinced that the worst is coming, despite evidence to the contrary. He doesn't believe there's a silver lining anywhere, and can find the worst thing in any situation he's placed in. His pessimism has only grownas he's gotten older, and he's convinced that he would be better served by making sure he's ready for the worst to happen. ◊ SARCASTICXavier is quite sarcastic. He's managed to make an art form out of making snarky or sarcastic comments, and he's not afraid of using them on anyone he comes across. He figures that people leave him alone if they don't like what he says. ◊ INTELLIGENTXavier is also quite intelligent. He loves it when he finds a puzzle to work on, and tends to read anything that's put in front of him. He also loves learning as much as he can even long after he's out of school. ◊ ORDERLYTo Xavier, everything has to be a certain way in a certain space and he doesn't care for it when something is out of place. He despises it when there's a mess and will actively work to straighten things out while giving whoever made the mess his nastiest look. ◊ ALOOFXavier is pretty much a loner. He prefers his own company rather than hanging around a lot of people, and will retreat from a social function quickly if he can manage it. While he can deal with people on an individual basis, he finds his patience wears thin when more than a couple of people are interacting with him at a time. ◊ ABRASIVEXavier's personality can overall be described as abrasive. It's not that he's unkind, it's more that he dislikes speaking too much and dislikes stupid people even more. He's found over the years that dealing with people's messes and problems often usually ends up with him having more headaches than he cares to deal with. As a result, he rarely is friendly with anyone.

CHILDHOODI was born to Desmond and Myfina Goldwind. I am the middle child, and at times it definitely feels like it. I really tend to take after my uncle, Ian, though. He's the type of person I'd like to be with, and my middle name was taken from his first, so it makes sense. My relationships with my siblings is interesting. Andonae' is a squib, and she didn't exactly get along with me at first. I'd like to think she grew up a bit, even if she argues with our dad a lot. December is more like a breath of fresh air, though sometimes she can get on my nerves. Otherwise, I'd like to think we're a decent family. Not quite perfect, but I take what I can get at this point.
SCHOOL YEARS Well, my first year at Hogwarts was nothing special, to be honest. My father tried to smuggle a broom to me, and I handed it in to my uncle as soon as I could. My second year, well, that's where life got a bit interesting. I went to the Fall Festival with my father, since he thought it could be a good bit of family bonding. That fell through, however, and resulted in a massacre that night. Some crazy vampire attacked me, and broke my foot and leg. I spent several weeks recovering, and I'm still not sure I fully did. The horrors from that night still haunt me, and my father, he was supposed to protect me, right? He never did. Now I feel angry, angry at him, angry at everything, really. Nothing stopped this from occurring, and I was a casualty from the attack. I still don't feel safe, and it has made me more reckless since.
Third year, I ended up joining the quidditch team to get my dad to stop complaining about me not being in quidditch. Which went about as well as I thought it would. However, during the year, I got word that my sister, Andi, was involved in an accident and passed away. My mom decided to divorce my dad and took Dee with her, and well, I was left with him. I didn't particularly care for that turn of events, so I decided to rebel against my father. I grew more cynical and just refused to talk to him, and well, that was that. Fourth year was quiet, while fifth year I was named prefect and quidditch vice captain by Gypsy. The rest of my school years were pretty average, though there was the incident where I caught several students drinking at a school dance, and then had to deal with being named Head Boy. I'm wondering if there wasn't somehow a deficiency with the professors, since I don't have the best temper and I honestly dislike most people.
POST GRADUATIONAfter he graduated, Xavier decided to take a tour of the world, starting in America visiting his sister December. After that, he ended up traveling around quite a bit, only returning to England every so often to deal with some issues regarding family or just stopping in to write some articles for a historical newsletter for a local museum in England. He spent several years doing this, enjoying the freedom he had not having to worry about much beyond the random thing that popped up.
It was during one of his visits back to the UK that he ended up getting himself involved in an issue with one of his neighbours. He'd managed to keep a flat in Scotland so that he had a permanent residence, but it wasn't exactly in the best neighbourhood. That was when he ran into Irvine and Ophelia McNeil. Their father had been abusing them regularly and Xavier happened to be home during one of their father's fits. After listening to it for a good twenty minutes, Xavier got fed up with it and decided to act. He went over to find out what was going on and when he discovered the situation, he stopped the father and took the children with him to St. Mungo's to get looked at. Because he'd heard horror stories from one of his house mates' boyfriends about the way orphans were handled, he decided right then and there to go ahead and adopt the both of them.
After finalizing the paperwork and getting that taken care of, Xavier proceeded to resume traveling around the world, taking both Irvine and Ophelia with him. He figured it was good for the kids to be exposed to as much of the world as could be because he felt that it helped broaden their worldview. When Irvine got old enough to start in Hogwarts, Xavier finally returned to England to get a job at the local museum while both Irvine and Ophelia attended.

◊ QUIETIrvine is a quiet person, not speaking much unless spoken to and tending toward short answers instead of extended discourse. He doesn't mind it, however, if he's talking to someone one-on-one, but putting him into a situation where he's having to deal with multiple people at once, and he tends to clam up really quickly. ◊ INTELLIGENTIrvine is highly intelligent. While he's not that great with maths and the like, he excels with the written word in all its forms. He has an expansive vocabulary for someone his age and reads and writes at the level of someone well above his age. ◊ CURIOUSIrvine has a curious streak a mile wide. When he finds something he hasn't discovered before, he wants to examine it in every way possible and learn as much about it as he can. He also can't help but wonder about things he hasn't encountered, and as a result, tends to get lost in his head at times. ◊ SNARKYProbably due to his early childhood, Irvine has developed a bit of a snarky side. He tends to make biting remarks or snide comments, usually to keep people from getting too close. He also tends to be somewhat abrasive with people he doesn't feel comfortable around or doesn't know well. ◊ DISTRUSTFULAlso due to his childhood trauma, Irvine is rather distrustful and doesn't see the good in a lot of things. He has a hard time believing other people when they don't have proof to back up their claims, and has issues with trusting people that aren't his immediate family. ◊ INTROVERTIrvine tends to stick to himself more often than not. It's not that he doesn't like other people, it's just that, well, he doesn't like being crowded. He prefers to have space to himself and will find locations where he can unwind from being around everyone if necessary.

CHILDHOODIrvine is the oldest child of Douglas and Fiona McNeil and the adopted son of Xavier Goldwind. He lived the first five years of his life with his biological parents, though he can't remember much about his mother as she died around a year after his sister Ophelia was born. What he does remember mostly would be his father, who started drinking heavily after his mother passed away and began abusing Irvine and Ophelia. It came to a head one day when Douglas was winding up after being on a bender for a weekend and started into both children, only for one of their neighbours to intrude. Xavier had apparently heard the commotion and had decided to save both of them, and ended up taking both Irvine and Ophelia away from Douglas and taking them to a strange hospital. After that, Xavier ended up adopting both children and Irvine slowly became quite attached to the rather aloof man.
They didn't end up staying in the United Kingdom for very long, as not long after the adoption was finalized, Xavier took both children with him on his travels around the world. Irvine actually enjoyed travelling around, as he got to see more of the world than he ever did in Scotland. As a result, he found himself picking up new languages and learning as much as he could about each place they visited, and he always felt sad any time they had to leave. However, that didn't mean that he disliked going to a new place, as he got to experience something new each time.
The only time they left not long after they got there was when Irvine displayed magic for the first time when he was eight and they were visiting Columbia. He accidentally set some underbrush alight when Xavier was trying to take them to explore a cave system, and while Xavier was able to put it out successfully, they decided it might not be a good idea to stick around the muggles they had decided to go cave exploring with. As Irvine turned 10, Xavier decided it was best to return to England to make sure that Irvine and Ophelia could go to Hogwarts as Ophelia, too, was discovered to be magical.
SCHOOL YEARS
◊ FIRST YEARIrvine was sorted into Ravenclaw, the same house as his father. He didn't mind it, especially since apparently not that many people really bothered him too much. He ended up enjoying classes, though, and hoped that he could get onto the school newspaper the following year. ◊ SECOND YEARSecond year wasn't too bad for Irvine. He enjoyed the fact that people didn't bother him, which meant that he was able to work on writing more. xxxxx⇾Dᴇᴛᴇʀᴍɪɴᴇᴅ: Ophelia is a brazen mix of ambitious and proud enough to push herself toward any and all goals she may decide for herself. She can push herself to her limit and beyond, all with a proud smile on her face.
xxxxx⇾Cʀᴀꜰᴛʏ: Ophelia is good at quick thinking and coming up with solutions to whatever problem she encounters. Sometimes her solutions are a bit... off the wall, but she usually comes up with successes, if not in the way she expected.

Ophelia was born the second child of Douglas and Fiona McNeil, though she can't really remember either. Fiona died shortly before Ophelia's first birthday, causing Douglas to try his best to raise both Irvine and Ophelia. He wasn't very good at it. He drank a lot and got really mean, which scared Phia. Luckily, she had Irvine to cling to when she got scared. One day, there was a really, really bad fit from their dad, with him being far meaner than normal. All she really remembered was Xavier rescuing them and taking them to safety before adopting them officially. It was the start of a wonderful life with Xavier as a dad.
They traveled all over the world, learning all kinds of neat stuff first hand. It was the way to learn, for sure. She wasn't as quick with languages as her brother, but she did learn a couple on their travels. She also learned a ton of world history, which ignited and captured her curiosity. Luckily, Xavier was always good at answering her many, many questions. One day when she was almost six, they were exploring caves in Colombia, when Irvine accidentally lit the place on fire. Thank goodness their daddy was magic and put it out with no injuries. That lead to them discovering Irvine was magical too.
Since that day, Ophelia tried her very best to try and be magical too. Lucky for her, on one of their travels to Norway, she slipped on ice and landed on a thin section. Her attempt at standing caused the ice to crack and her to fall in the lake. Instead of sinking, she floated up, landing back on the ice, completely dry. That lead them to discovering her magic as well, which delighted her to no end.
When Irvine turned ten, the family moved back to England for when Irvine had to go to school. Apparently they'd both be going to Xavier's old school, but for now they had to get used to one home. Xavier got a job at a museum, which Phia loves to wander and explore whenever she has a chance.
