Ta'la'la had the biggest grin on her face as she lounged by a water hole. The pride hadn't migrated yet, and she was thankful for that. Her paws felt swollen, as was her belly. While the female wasn't expecting to have cubs, it wasn't like it would be something that would never happen. She was mated to Ufunuo after all, and the two had shared a bed together from the day they had decided to be one.

Ta'la'la was happy for the reason that her parents name would live on. With her brothers, they could likely lose the Kanesda name if they were to marry a female that had a surname unique to her. For Tala, she could keep it.

A small purr rumbled through her body as she enjoyed the sun.

Ufunuo moved with light steps, tail flicking as he walked, humming quietly to himself so song he had made up long ago as a child. The dark lion often explored his new home, feeling more and more that he had at long last found his place with the lioness he loved. A smile crossed his maw, it had been a long journey, longer than he had expected, but at the end, he had truly found his home. He still often thought of his family, of the childhood home lost, he missed his sister, but here, here he was happy, truly.

Today Ufunuo moved with a purpose, as if he were searching for something. Ah, there, a smile as purple eyes fell on a small patch of flowers. These would do nicely. His head lowered, a deep inhale before picking a mouthful of the flowers. A nod, a satisfied flick of his tail, Ufunuo turned, paws moving in a swift trot to the water hole where he knew Ta would be.

Quietly he approached, his head lowered to nuzzle against the reclining lioness.before setting the flowers at her paws, the goofiest grin ever on his maw.

"Morning."

Tala's bright eyes opened at the nuzzle, and the flowers dropped to her paws. She reached down to sniff at the colorful flora, before leaning back against the darker male. "Good morning love," she purred.

"You seem quite jovial today," she giggled, closing her eyes as the sun soaked her fur. She reopened them slowly, turning her whole body so she faced her mate. It still felt awkward to her to rest with her belly extending on the dirt. The sooner the cubs were out, the better, in her opinion.

"The flowers are beautiful," she brought her paws closer to her so they rested against them. They could make a nice headband or accessory once they dried out.

The grin never faded as Ufunuo settled at his mate's side, a quiet purr as he laid against her, the warmth of her body a stark contrast to the cool ground.

"It is a beautiful day, and you are here to share it with me."

And soon there would be small paws running around them. A quiet and contented sigh, his head turned to rest his chin against her shoulder, silently wondering how many there would be and what they would look like. Would they have her eyes or his? Would any of them remind him of his father or his mother?

"I am glad you like them."

So the ever adventurous and mischievous Ufunuo was in fact a hopeless romantic. And no, he had most certainly not thought of jumping in that water hole and splashing water all over her, nope, he did not have a death wish.

While Ta'la'la would have chuckled if she were not pregnant, if Ufunuo had decided to jump in the water to splash her, she would be quite irate. He'd be in the metaphoric dog house until the day their children were born, and likely days after.

She rose to her feet, clutching the flowers in her paw. She swayed slightly on her feet, still getting use to the weight displacement. "We should get them some water, so they last longer." Tala grinned, nudging the darker male.

As she took a step forward, she glanced towards Ufunuo. "So...Are you hoping for sons or daughters?" The lioness grinned. She knew Ufunuo had a previous litter before, so he should be a pro at this father thing.

Ufunuo was on his paws and at her side in an instant, offering his shoulder for support if she needed it. Ta was strong, Ufunuo knew she likely did not need his help, but he would still offer, always, just in case she wanted it. Or maybe he just wanted an excuse to be close enough to steal an affection lick to her cheek.

"What will we put the water in?"

He hadn't thought about water for the flowers, he supposed he'd never thought what would happen when they withered.

The lion paused, silent for a moment as he thought of her question. Until that moment the question of sons or daughters had not really struck him.

"Both I suppose."

"Oh. Um." That was a good question. Perhaps they could find an empty tortoise shell or some sort of basin like thing to hold the flowers in.

"I am sure we will find something." She nodded. "If not, we could keep them out in the sun and let them dry a bit to wear." Oh, they could be little gifts for their future children! Talala liked this idea.

Both? Maybe Tala was a little biased, but she had been hoping for some daughters. Growing up with majority of brothers, it was nice to have some females around for companionship. Plus, they would carry on her parents name, their surname. "Both is good, as long as they are healthy, right?" Tala said with a smile, nuzzling the male into his mane. "And maybe we can find some chicks for them to have too," she cooed. Perhaps she could persuade her mother's former bond to have more children.

Ufunuo reached out with a paw, taking one of the flowers and gently places it behind her ear. A smile, a quiet purr, the flower looked beautiful there, it matched her eyes.

"I think that would be nice."

He was happy she liked the flowers, he would have to make a note to bring her more in the future.

A nod, healthy and happy cubs was what he wished for, regardless of gender or appearance. This would be the start of their family, together. He couldn't wait to meet his children.

"I...I would like that."

The land of his childhood had followed the bird goddess Hestia, choosing avians as their own bonded. If was because of the goddess that he had met his eagle, Daga. It was with great pride that he thought of his children growing up with their own avian companions.

Ta'la'la smiled when the flower was placed behind her ear. "A perfect spot." She cooed, a small giggle erupting from her maw.

"We may have to do a bit of convincing if Kala gets involved...Maybe there some birds that are unbonded that we can gather? I am sure the children would like that. But...we do have time." She said with a soft sigh. "Maybe not a lot of time...but time..." She grinned, feeling her belly move with the small kicks of her children. "Though, I think we can speed up this process." She grumbled slightly, a joking tone lingering on her words.

Oh, she couldn't wait to meet her children!

"Come on Ufunuo," she nudged her mate, heading forward.

"Kala?"

Ufunuo shot his mate a sideways look, clearly not convinced involving the avian was a good idea. It did not work that way, as parents they could not simply tell their children who their bonded would be, they must find their bonded for themselves. And even if that did work out, he had a strong suspicion any such convincing with result in his ears being pecked at and a certain eagle mocking him mercilessly.

"We have plenty of time. They will find their bonded if and when they are ready."

The lion chuckled lightly, gently brushing against Ta in reassurance and affection. The children did not need to find their bonded the moment they were born. He had been a cub when he'd met Daga, but his sister had been much older when she'd met Huria. Every lion was different, there was no need to rush. For now they could simply enjoy the moment and the time they had together before their lives changed forever.
