Physical Description: Tall and slim, with smooth lightly tanned skin that freckles around his shoulders and back. His parents used to call him little foal because he was a bit clumsy as a child and all leg, and he's still long in the leg as an adult, with gentle musculature suiting his somewhat lithe frame.
He's got dark, expressive, forest green eyes, and deep chestnut hair that fades dramatically after just a few days in the sun, worn in a tight pony tail falling just below his shoulders. His otherwise plain features are defined by a straight nose that's certainly got character but is a little too large to be considered handsome, and a strongly defined jaw he often doesn't bother to shave for a few days at a time.
Personality: I want to explain how Vesden's personality has been developing over the past few turns, because he's aware of it and believes the momentum of that shift is an important facet of who he is right now as a person.
A few turns ago, those who knew him would have described him as a gentle boy, calm, open, positive, wonderful with animals but just a bit puzzled with people and prone to go off thinking for ages if you'd let him.
These days, he's more self assured. He isn't easy to anger, it isn't in his nature, but he'll damn well speak up if he thinks he thinks something isn't right. As introspective as he is he's often sure he knows best because other people just don't put as much consideration into everything as he does; if they don't see he's right, they probably haven't thought about it enough.
He's still positive as well, but it's guarded, and it's realistic, and it's something he'll actively work to manifest; he has no patience for anyone who won't work towards the future they hope will come to pass; he may understand and sympathize with their point of view, but he also knows things won't just work out because you wish them to.
He's compassionate, that's also at the core of who he is, but his expression of that compassion has changed from open emotional displays to demonstrations of how much he cares. If a family member has a problem, they're not getting a hug, they're getting anything he can give to fix it. It gets more done, but sometimes people just want a hug, particularly his sisters of 10 and 13 turns who aren't sure they like this change in their gentle caring brother.
His awkwardness with people, what those close to him described as puzzlement, has dissipated as well. Both the time he spent away from the hold and his sexuality were factors in how alienated he felt from the people of the hold, but being more engaged in hold life in the past few turns has helped that immensely. There are much worse things than scorn, he realizes that now, unfortunately that realization has brought on some control issues because he gets anxious thinking if things aren't done right something will go wrong.
Overall, as I said, he's very aware of these changes in himself and he sees it as a positive. The world has changed, and so has he, and he feels like a stronger and more capable person than he was in the past.

History: Vesden is a runnercrafter, though he refuses to call himself such the past few years. From the time he was old enough to brush hides and fill troughs he's been out in the fields with his family's runners and it suited him well; while his siblings lamented the life they were born into and planned to get out the moment they were of age, Vesden looked forward to a time when he'd have the responsibility and privilege of cultivating the lines his family had been breeding for centuries.
His time among the people of the hold was limited. He preferred to act as something of a shepherd for the herd, keeping an eye on them most of the day and occasionally spending nights out under the stars. He enjoyed that life, it was peaceful and he felt more connected to pern that way than he did trapped inside with too many people. That's likely how he was missed on search until his twenties.
Sometimes he felt he was as close to his runners as he was to his family, though he did treasure his siblings and took to the role of older brother like a dragon takes to flight. He was always a very supportive and forward thinking brother, encouraging his siblings in whatever they wanted out of life, and was proud to be the one they came to with problems or to share their accomplishments.
While his parents were pestering him to find a wife and give them some grandchildren, that was of very little interest to him despite how good he was with the kids in his life, and he had come to accept that he might have to live a life of solitude rather than tell anyone why he wasn't going to find a wife and start a family of his own.
That was the life he was set on; one where he would be a successful beastcrafter, a fantastic brother, probably a favorite uncle before long, and he would spend his days outdoors with the animals he loved working hard and enjoying the land.
Everything changed when thread fell, of course, and the life he expected to inherit was upended. He survived his first threadfall through quick thinking and sheer luck, but he lost all the runners he'd been responsible for. While this isn't something he blames himself for (he's proud of surviving that day at all) his family's runner line was completely decimated.
His father and two sisters survived, while his mother and younger brother were out working and didn't make it. Now the four of them are at the main hold, helping to rebuild. He's made a good life of that, doing his best to numb himself to the situation (because honestly who had time to deal with all of that as it was happening?) and make himself useful. As things stabilize there and return to routine, he's forced to wonder what there is for him in the world now, and he has a strong feeling that it's time to move on and find a purpose.
Other: Please approve this man before I have two pages of history/description. I want to note that despite the "tragic backstory" he's fairly well adjusted and he's not focused on what happened but on moving forward.
