Cordelia sat curled up on the couch next to Dakota, flipping through bridal magazines. She never thought she’d have to make a decision this quickly regarding her own wedding, but she also wasn’t about to have a b*****d of a child – no judgement on her eldest sibling. By her calculations, the baby should be born June. That meant the wedding had to take place no later than May unless she wanted to risk giving birth in her dress. On the one hand, she enjoyed having an excuse to daydream about her fairytale wedding all day, but on the other, she found having to make quick decisions about it stressful. Especially knowing she has to raise a child immediately after it’s over. Luckily, she had the best partner right by her side.
“What about turquoise for the wedding colours?” she asked, pointing to a photo of a large bridal party decked out in turquoise dresses and ties. Ironically, Cordelia’s nails were also turquoise. “Or yellow,” she suggested. “I’ve always liked yellow.” Her ring finger on that same hand sported an engagement ring that Dakota had gifted her. Brown eyes looked up at him, longing for an answer. Or perhaps, she was longing for a hug. Her life had become so overwhelming with what felt like a snap of her fingers. Cora and Dakota’s relationship took a while to even blossom into one, and then took just as long for them to move in together. But one thing led to another very quickly – probably since she’s been strutting around in her underwear since moving in with her boyfriend – and voila! A fetus had been developing inside of her uterus.

Cordelia snuggled up a little bit closer to Dakota once he had wrapped an arm around her. Cuddling was one of her favourite things to do with her fiancé. Nothing could beat the warmth and love that she felt when they were that close together. After resting her head against Dakota’s chest, Cora looked back down at the cake that he had pointed out. “Yeah, we could do that. Or something like it,” she agreed. “The colours look good together.” Sweet! They narrowed down the wedding colours at least and were already in the process of booking a venue, which proved to be a challenge this close to their wedding date. Nevertheless, they were going to accomplish having the most bomb wedding ever! Now, what else did they need to choose? Besides a cake, the bridal party, other decor, the dress, shoes, menu, flowers... Welp. They definitely were nowhere near reaching the top of this mountain.
Cordelia reached over to pet the grumpy old kitty who was cuddled up against her, scratching behind his ears just the way he liked it. At one point, Cora resided with a bunch of different animals – dogs, bunnies, owls, horses. But she had never shared a home with a cat until now. Another animal to add to the list, she supposed. Although felines could be such assholes sometimes, she wasn’t too worried about how Henry would react with a baby. In her experience, animals were always pretty patient and gentle with small children. In fact, she was more worried about how good of a mother she would be. On the one hand, she knew her family was more than willing to help where they could. They did with Alex, and her parents just seemed to love kids – now housing a second adopted child. But on the other hand, she barely even knew how to take care of herself, let alone raise another life from scratch.
