I'm rolling 1-4 since we have no Weyrling Wing.

This time with actual dice...

Quote 3 Individuals in the Wing! -7 HP These individuals are also now suffering from the Painful Effect. This will negate your next 2 rolls XP, double damage if the roll includes set damage (or has you roll for damage)!

Altitude Change! Hour 3, Round 1 Beings!

High Altitude Wing: Star Flame
Mid Altitude Wing: Fire Storm
Low Altitude Wing: Flame's Fury

Hour: 1200

Wave Change: First Wave must return to the Weyr! Second Wave is up!

Location: Directly over Western Hold, and the plains over the Western Continent. Any Thread that slips through will bring with it devastation on the crowded Major Hold below. While most should be indoors, the Hold is large enough that there might be those who were locked out, or unaware that it was a Threadfall day and are now well without shelter. Additionally, there are docks and ships in the ports on the eastern side of the Hold, and there are minor Holds, cotholds, and life of all stripes on the plains.

Conditions: The wind isn't getting any better, but the predicted low is moving slower than expected. While it means any storms that develop will happen later in the afternoon, it also means there will be no rain to drown Thread. Winds from the unstable air of two colliding weather fronts will make for continued rough conditions.

- - - -

The winds were not dying, and any hope for rain was dashed the longer they fought. While clouds were forming well north-west of them, they were flying south-west, and would likely miss any rain that the colliding fronts would likely bring.

Perhaps that was for the best.

A heavy rain might drown Thread, but there was no guarantee conditions would remain wet enough to kill it; a mist or sprinkle wouldn't be enough, and any downpour could just as quickly end, leaving the people below without aid. It wasn't ideal, no matter how many riders might wish such a thing.

R'mor wasn't sure whether they were doing better or worse. A white had gone down, and there were many inured. Even the Queen's Wing was taking it hard, with multiple reports of injuries even so far below. P'kav was gone... and there were still two hours left.

Faranth help them all, he could only hope no one else would succumb this day.

First Wave! You have fought well this day. Return to the Weyr, get patched up, and rest up until the rest of your wingmates return! Second Wave, your time to fight is now! Join us in this great battle but be wary of the winds upon your approach! Thread is blown about everywhere. For those who will remain in the fight, keep up the hard work! You are halfway through this fight, but the winds are not our friend this day. Let your Wingleader and Second know if you need assistance or to return to the Weyr to heal! You are not in this fight alone!

And with that, R'mor gave the signal for wings to change their altitudes, and the Waves to swap.

Threadfall had not been going well. Minoth and he had been lucky thus far, but he knew that could change at any given moment. His beloved brown was struggling against the strong winds, and though Minoth didn't say much about it, or complain, the constant onslaught was taking its toll. But Fall was halfway over, and a new wave had joined the fight.

G'ar and Marasameth would be fighting now, and he could only hope that they would make it out with minimal scoring. Still, the brown rider knew he had to keep his focus on his wingspace, as well as his wingmates. Conditions were deteriorating, and already there were holes to fill from injured Notos riders.

They'll fight well, surely. Minoth rumbled with confidence.

As if to mock them, a tangle of Thread caught Minoth's back foot. The brown gave a snarl before disappearing Between.

This tangles up on your dragon's tail and foot. You immediately blink Between, with the injury hurting your dragon, but not enough to slow you down. Light Damage - 2 HP

You take a direct hit from Thread! The question is, where!? Roll a D4

1. This tangles up on your dragon's tail and foot. You immediately blink Between, with the injury hurting your dragon, but not enough to slow you down. Light Damage - 2 HP

2. This hits your dragon's face and eye! Your beast screeches in pain, and hops immediately back to the Weyr. Moderate Damage -5 HP It's up to you on how much face damage it does. If their eye is okay, they can return to their Wing. If there's eye damage, or possible worse damage than listed, have them land to get checked by a healer.

3. The Threadfall hits your leg and your dragon's shoulder! It burns in deep, but your cries of pain can't be heard in the cold of Between. Moderate Damage: -6 HP

4. Thread hits your leg and side, as well as your dragon's back and shoulders. Though you immediately jump between, some of the Thread is partially protected by your riding gear. As you return from its cold, and continue on the fight, it takes a moment to realize the wriggling Thread has eaten through your clothes, and is starting to burrow into you!!! GET BACK BETWEEN AND BACK TO THE WEYR TO BE DUNKED! Major Damage: -12 HP Your next post must be with the healers so you can get dunked into the pools, in hopes of drowning the borrowing Thread. Death is also an option.

With a change of formation, K'tos caught sight of one of his wingmates struggling to stay in formation. The smaller dragon was having a time of it against the wind--not that he blamed them. Minoth! He warned. The blue dragon bugled warning to the Notos rider, who was able to jump Between and away from the worst of the danger.

The wind is strong and trying hard to buffet you. If brown or bronze you see one of your wingmates struggling against the wind. They're getting blown out of their empty airspace, and dangerously close to a patch of Thread! You are able to twist and accurately flame down the clump they were going to fly into, saving them from Threadscore! Quote a Wingmate that took Threadfall Damage and nullify it! You saved them from the pain! +1 Flame Length

Minoth continued to fly well, searing down great patches of Thread. But it wasn't enough--it never would be enough. Too many dragons were getting hurt. A number had already fallen, and with every dragon that didn't return, the danger steadily increased.

Minoth let out a bellow, warning one of their wingmates, and surprising K'tos from his stray thoughts.

Good eye, love. Keep them safe. He encouraged, glad to see their fellow out of harm's way.

As you fly, you find that you're getting into a heavier patch of Thread ahead. You've got a bad feeling about this.... You warn one of your wingmates to let a patch go! Thankfully, they listen, and sure enough, the wind changes! It would have blown the pair right into the patch. As it stands, the wind blows the Thread back, and your wingmate are able to flame it down without injury. [+2 Instinct]

Unfortunately, the winds were cruel. A patch they had attempted to avoid was blown right into Minoth's back leg. The dragon let out a snarl in pain, before throwing himself into the cold of Between.

They returned a few moments later, the brown giving an irritated and pained huff.

How bad is it? K'tos asked, concerned.

Nothing to worry yourself over. We can tend to it later.

Altitude Change! Hour 4, Round 1 Beings!

High Altitude Wing: Flame's Fury
Mid Altitude Wing: Star Flame
Low Altitude Wing: Fire Storm

Hour: 1300

Location: West-Southwest of Western Hold. By this point, the plains have turned into thicker foliage. Any thread that falls through will almost be guaranteed to do extensive damage. The amount of lush forests found in this area mean there is ample fodder for Thread to chew through. Ancient trees, wildlife, and anyone out within these jungles are at risk as Thread might eat them from the top down.

Conditions Humidity has increased, and cloud coverage has thickened. While there's a threat of rain, all the clouds seem to do is hinder visibility. The wind has lessened some, the farther south-west the wing travels.

- - - -

It was time for the last altitude change of the afternoon. R'mor knew from Junenth that Western Weyr had taken a solid beating. With ever updated, R'mor knew that they were well in trouble; Wingleaders had been knocked out of the sky, the Queen's had reported terrible damage, and every Wing had been affected. Coverage was thinning out the longer they fought--he could only hope they didn't need to call on one of the other Flight to assist. This was the last of it, though. All they had to do was finish this last hour and the deed would be done.

We are almost through, this day! Keep fighting, bronze and brown, blue and green, white and gold. The end is in sight, but don't get complacent! You may be weary and hurting; you may be weakened and fatigued; but keep on fighting! Our Enemy has not yet given up, and neither shall we! The Holds and Halls need us. Pern needs us. Flame and fight on, friends, for this is the last of it!

And with that, R'mor gave the signal for wings to change their altitudes.

Minoth hissed as another strand of Thread frayed a small part of his wingsail. Thankfully, the brown pulled them Between, to limit the damage. K'tos could only be grateful that the damage wasn't worse.

1. Thread falls, and a sneaky strand winds up chewing on your wingsail. You pop Between to ease the pain, and come out flaming. It hurts, but it's small tubers compared to what it could have been! [+1 Pain Resilience]
