CHILDHOODEugène was born to Cecil and Séraphine Bagley, the only child after numerous attempts to get pregnant. Séraphine was newly immigrated from Mali when she caught her soon-to-be husband's eye while waiting tables to cover her night school. They married soon after she graduated and for years tried and failed for children until they birthed their son. As such, they were a touch overprotective of him while growing up while also foisting all their added ambitions onto his tiny shoulders. Cecil was a halfblood; his mother a muggle and his father a pureblood from a small line worked in the Ministry for misuse of magic and never fully explained to his wife his heritage until young Eugène threw a tantrum one day at the age of five resulting in a sweater he didn't want to wear getting stuck to the ceiling for three days. After finally telling the little boy he wouldn't be forced to wear it did it finally come down and that was when Cecil decided to confess. Séraphine, after a few more demonstrations, was rather entranced by it all and was excited her son had the chance to learn something so amazing. With magic another added benefit, Eugène spent most of his days either being smothered or hiding among his books. Not being able to play with other children for various reasons (he'd get to dirty, he could get hurt, he could be kidnapped, etc.) he found comfort in escaping in his books and soon in glamor magazines his mum and grandmum would leave around the home. His parents didn't much understand why he would sometimes enjoy dressing in women's clothing he salvaged from nearby thrift stores but they assumed it was due to his youth and he'd summarily grow out of it.
SCHOOL YEARS
Once he got his letter and accepted his place at Hogwarts, Eugène was sorted into Ravenclaw and was amazed by all the different people he could now interact it. His parents were a bit worried, even his father who had also gone to Hogwarts and knew exactly where he would be in the castle most days, but understood that they didn't have the means to properly home school him like they wanted. This however did not stop them from requesting at least two letters every week. At first he was a bit shy not used to having so many people his age around him so often, but as he got accustomed to it, he also began growing out of his shell and learned allot about himself. From his friends in music club, he learned that he greatly enjoyed performing and was not one to shy away from being in the spotlight. It was actually these same friends who invited him along one day during summer break (he had been forced to grovel for days on end for this until his parents grudgingly agreed) and took him to a surprise location that turned out to be a drag bar. Eugène had the time of his life watching the colorful and vivacious women strut their stuff and perform in front of them and knowing he probably wouldn't get another chance, decided he was going to learn all he could from the one night. He managed to get acquainted with one of the girls and traded emails so they could continue communicating. The rest of the summer was spent with him talking to her and other queens and contemplating why this meant so much to him. He just knew it felt like a combination of the fun and whimsy he had from his childhood and the elation he gets when he's performing for his club members. After that summer, he would spend the next few years perfecting his own drag look and her persona, Eulalia, while hiding it from his parents since he was unsure how they would react. For last two years of his schooling, he would hide away his desire and continued focusing on his parent's ambitions for him.
POST GRADUATIONEugène graduated with good grades much to his family's pride and joy and his father instantly appealed to him to start work at the Ministry to attempt to rise up through the ranks. He worked there a total of four days before he ultimately quit and went home to unfortunately tell his parents. They were distraught and angry at him for being childish and not giving this job a chance, arguing what else was he going to do with his life that would amount to anything. He finally broke down and explained that he had no interest in the Ministry, in any of its divisions, and told them of his love of performance, then finally of Eulalia. Neither of his parents could understand nor wanted to and they went in circles arguing and fighting until Eugène gave up and packed up his belongings and left.
After that day, Eugène was mostly kept at home or seen on rare days while Eulalia was finally given the spotlight she so desperately craved. She got a job bartending at the same drag bar he'd visited at fifteen until she worked her way up on the stage. Much to her delight, the patrons loved her and soon she was getting gigs at other doors and even got signed to an actual agency and was traveling through the UK and parts of Europe. Just after her twenty-third, her parents reached out to try and come to an understanding so she flew back from an engagement in Amsterdam still in her womanly refinery so they would understand who she, they, were now. What proceeded was a very awkward tea and dinner before they finally broke down with apologies, from both sides. Cecil and Séraphine weren't exactly...ecstatic by their choice of career but they could see Eulalia was healthy, prosperous, and much happier than they could remember and gave their blessing. After that, Eulalia returned to touring with a vengeance enjoying the world glamour and ritz. Around the time she hit thirty and had won her fair share of competitions, she decided it was time for another dream. She didn't want to fully give up performing, but she missed having a permanent home and roots. So she returned to the UK and bought a lovely home in Bristol while contemplating what to do next. It took a while, but an idea she'd peddled now and again finally sprung up and took root and with her savings and planning, she made the Serendipity Lounge a thing of reality. It's only been open for a few months but between her own fame and the good reviews, they've made a rather nice name for themselves.
