Physical Description: Tall and gracefully lean, Veerle is blessed with smooth, dark skin, brilliant carrot-y colored hair and melting amber eyes that typically stare at the world in a deceptively dreamy manner. Though of average attractiveness, they know how to enhance their features to appear lovely or plain as mud.In its natural state, their hair is cheerfully fluffy and is kept at a length that can suit either gender. Depending on how Veerle feels deep down, they will choose feminine or masculine clothing.
Personality: Incredibly bright, Veerle is never happier than when they have been asked to solve a tricky puzzle, particularly one that has stumped others within their peer group. They have been known to observe carefully, without seeming to be watching, to see how others have gone wrong. Or, in a less selfish manner to see who needs a dose of Veerle's dry, twinkling humor. If being intelligent and getting to prove it feeds into their ego, being able to coax a smile or chuckle out of a friend in need makes Veerle's heart happy.
Sadly, as with all good things, Veerle has their own share of foibles. Too often, their observations have been cut short in a burst of impulsiveness because they were just certain that they knew the answer before having all of the facts. Or the times when Veerle will focus so intently on one little thing to the exclusion of all else. They do try to control themselves, but it's so hard sometimes given how sure they are that they can never do wrong or fail.

History: Born within the Courtesan Hall itself to a pair of middling journeymen, no one is quite certain how Veerle came out as bright as they did. Nor can they explain where that hair or those eyes were inherited as both of their parents were black or hair and brown of eye. Treated as something of a pet or mascot by the older apprentices, Veerle grew up immersed in Hall lore and craft. As far as Veerle was concerned, they were simply going to follow in their parent's path, albeit with a bit more success. However, when they were a small child, one of the sharper eyed Masters noticed how Veerle seemed to alternate between genders. Noting that this seemed to be less a child playing pretend and more a being in a natural element, the Master encouraged Veerle and slowly began to involve them in classes in disguise and subterfuge.
As Veerle grew, they moved naturally between male, female and androgyny, learning tricks of the trade that were suited for each. And when they turned 16, they were fully introduced to the fascinating Spy craft. While their earlier classes had been intended to help a child survive and navigate in a world that might not accept them, these newer classes functioned to teach that child how to gather and use information to do all manner of interesting things.
When Veerle walks the tables, and they are certain that it will be soon, they intend to pursue a career as a Spymaster. And more than anything, they wish to offer that expertise to the Weyr. With Thread's return and the upheaval of so many things, information will be valuable. And Veerle intends to make certain that the weyr knows that they are invaluable to the smooth running of the continent.
