Time To Shine Contest
1 White / 13 Green / 6 Blue / 4 Brown / 2 Bronze / 1 Gold

Esurienth and Phylideth recently had a clutch of 27 eggs at Western! This NPC Hatching gave away a handful of greens and blues, and a single white--but the brown, bronze, and single gold of the clutch remained relatively aloof! Instead of simply putting them up for adoption right away, we wanted to at least give an opportunity for the Queen of the clutch, and at least one of her bronze and brown brothers, to be won!

The Queen of this clutch was only rolled once, and turned away the prospective Candidate in Question. We never saw who she Impressed to, so this will require players to create brand new characters for this contest!

Additionally, while we don't know who she is, we would like you to base the character loosely off this flavor text!

Quote:
This dragonet prances proudly up to Tylefisan, giving him a long, measuring look. You will do.... for one of my clutchmates.

Ultimately, we'd like you to design a dragon that might fit that sort of flavor text. We also would like you to design her perfectly matched Candidate! Who is she? What is she really like? What sort of girl ultimately drew her?

If gold dragons aren't your thing, or maybe you just are feeling inspired, we would like to also allow you to write a Candidate and the matched Bronze or Brown who chose them!

Please note we are giving ourselves the right to have 0 winners in this contest! If the dragons and/or Candidates created for them don't seem to fit one another, or the setting, or have so much QC needed that it is going to cause problems, then we have the right to simply have no winners. In that case, we will put them up for adoption with the rest of their clutchmates and they'll be first-come, first-serve, provided a player has a dragon that has yet to be homed!

That said, we doubt that will be the case, but wanted to let that be known right out of the gate.

Alternatively, we could opt to have more than one winner, or offer alternate prizes. We might like multiple entries, and could offer remaining brown, blue, or green hatchlings.

Still interested? Keep reading!

Begins: Now
Ends: Sunday May 10, 2020 @ 7pm PT

The Rules & How to Enter

If you're interested in trying out for the gold, bronze, or brown clutchmate all you need to do is fill out the form below!

  • Each player may fill out up to three Candidates/Dragons.

  • You cannot use the same Candidate for both the bronze and brown entry. We are asking for three separate characters, and three separate dragons. That said, the form will have an option for the shop to grant you the character on a different colored dragon i.e. You might not win the Queen but we like the entry and would like to offer you a green instead! Or you might not win the bronze but would like to make him a blue or brown instead!

  • You may use the concepts as quests or turn the Candidates into real PC Candidates if they aren't chosen to win.

  • You must write the profiles yourself! We don't want other people's work! If you didn't write it, don't enter it! We want to see your originality. In this case, we ask you create entirely new concepts. Please do not dredge up old ones! Make something new to fit.

  • You may edit your entry until we close the contest.

  • Fill out all parts of the entry! We do ask you look over and proof your entry once posted to ensure you have filled out every bit of it. Don't skip questions. If we ask for your Username, put it in. If we ask for a Nameday, include it. Any missing fields might result in the entry being disqualified.

    And most importantly

  • DO NOT GET UPSET IF YOU DON'T WIN! If anyone makes anyone feel bad, or low-key grouses about not winning, there will be consequences! Why disappointment is only natural, remember, there will be other opportunities for characters and Questing is always an option!

This is open for all players and staff, though I, Uta, will not be entering.

Please remember these will be given out on adult lines, but will be RPed/treated as hatchlings and weyrlings as they grow. They will not be considered actual adults until April of 2021.

All That Glitters Is Bronze!

Name: J’huin (Formerly Janahuin)
Age: 28
Nameday: 3548.9.9
Sex: Male
Sexual Orientation: No given preference
Craft: Courtesan - Diplomat (Spy)
Rank: Journeyman
Location: Western Weyr
Physical Description:J’huin is just on the shorter side of tall, standing at 5’10”. He has pale green eyes and light brown hair that is cut to about his ears - though he is known to let it go too long and lives with several lengths of shag, with a certain chunk of fringe prone to fall in his face. He is handsome enough to hold attention, but not so much that he draws it without calling it to himself.
Personality: J’huin isn’t the kind of gentleman who wants to be in the limelight - he is a laid back fellow who will never try to live beyond his barest needs to make sure there is enough for everybody else to go around. He is happy to let someone else take the reigns of the show and will never speak too highly of himself or his own accomplishments. He takes compliments courteously and gives them with much more fervor. Even from a first meeting, J’huin exudes a gentleness that shows in his soft-spoken manner and manner of handling others. He always manages a smile even if he isn’t feeling quite up to it and will never show anybody his bad side even when treated poorly or looked down upon.

J’huin would cut himself to pieces to make sure everybody else had what they needed if it came down to it. He will put himself into harm’s way to take care of others, and while he has no need to go that far at a Weyr would go without food to make sure there was enough to go around for others in his care. If there is trouble due to whatever group he is currently associated with (friends, Weyrling group, etc) he will immediately step up to shoulder the responsibility of it - and take it away from those around him to carry the consequences alone. He much rather prefers matters settled that way, especially if any others involved aren’t informed and left to not know. He’d much rather see others have their needs met and is willing to go out of his way to make sure they have what they want as well. If this means taking a smaller share himself, that is fine.

Unwilling to show weakness, or betray trust, J’huin keeps his feelings and what he actually knows tucked so close to his chest it is practically what keeps his heart beating. He is very unlikely to trust another person with such things. This has made him extremely trustworthy, but for those who are aware of his secretive nature may be frustrated by him taking responsibility upon himself for things he will refuse to share. It makes it hard for those who are close to the young man to know how he actually feels about anything explicitly. J’huin is also prone to make a mountain out of a footprint in the sand between his secretive and self-sacrificing nature, reading into things or taking things that are perhaps not-so-serious too far.

Positive Trait List Humble, Generous, Warm
Negative Trait List Self-sacrificing, Secretive, Overthinking
History: Janahuin’s parents were Diplomats. From a young age he picked it up - the way they spoke, the way they showed to others only what needed to be seen for them to do their jobs. It was his normal - and thus it was how he tried to be too.

He followed their footsteps when he was old enough to go to the Courtesan Hall, where he quickly befriended several other boys his own age - and their mischief always fell to Janahuin, who refused to rat them out every time, even when the Masters already knew he was not solely responsible...or even a culprit at all. It garnered the young man certain attention and when tapped to become not just a Diplomat, but a Spy as well, he took it. After all, nobody could keep a secret so well.

It was not the easiest of training, but he’d do it without complaint even after he walked the tables at the age of 21 and formally became a Journeyman, taking on whatever work he was handed with the preciseness he had been taught to.

Then came Thread - something that any child knew about, though it never had seemed like a real thing. It was long gone, wasn’t it? It would leave his father severely injured and his mother doing her best to take care of them both - and Janahuin would be quick to give to that pot, at the expense of his own wellbeing. He was young, after all, and could handle it while things at least settled to a new state of normalcy.

A Searchdragon would come and disrupt that new normalcy in the fall of his 26th turn, sniffing the previously overlooked, perhaps simply gone for work, young man to stand before dragons. It was a great honor - and almost overwhelmingly so. Had his mother and father not given him the correct nudge, he likely would have turned it down.

Instead, he found himself being turned down by dragons - though the up close and personal with the young ones was both magical and jarring, each egg able to sneak a peek at all those things he’d tucked away so deep if they so wished from just a touch of his hand.

Even in spite of his age, however, Janahuin didn’t find himself becoming desperate for a dragon the way some did as his window got closer and closer to closing. Even being considered for a time would be a great story, after all, and he could only imagine it would make for more to talk about in his work once it passed.

That window will and has passed, Janahuin. You are not a Candidate any longer - you are Mine. spoke one young dragon who had broken from a scuffle with a sibling to approach him, wings spread defensively. So do not think to imagine a life without your Keynoth the little bronze implored, already snaking into the young man’s heart to a place closer to him than any secret.

“Of course I won’t,” he promised, unknowing what now the future would hold.

Other: Flavored the impression a little bit from the raffle, haha

DRAGON - - - -
Name: Keynoth
Personality Keynoth comes from a clutch of confident personalities, and is happy to walk the walk if he so must, even if it is not his talk that he is walking. While not shy, Keynoth would much rather be known for who he is, than seen for who he is. In some ways laments that he will fight with that his entire life, for even at Western and their open minded ways he will never shake that he is a bronze which immediately means to many he holds esteem that he did not earn yet. If he were to fall into the background, why, he would never mind that. All he truly wants is to be worthy of what he is.

Confidence will never be Keynoth’s strongest suit, but capability and a hard working attitude will pick up the slack for him. He won’t be daunted by any task he is put to, unless it is the task of showing off, and will happily sink into any work presented to him. When it comes to being responsible for more than himself, however, he will need his rider to back him up and keep calm - failure is a terrifying thought and when he wants to be seen as nothing but reliable may be daunted from putting himself out there.

Being considered weak is just as terrifying which will push Keynoth to hide any injuries, illness, or fatigue he may feel if not kept after.

For fearing his own lack so much, he will always be the first to lift up his siblings and their accomplishments - even if they’re already tooting their own bugle about them. Those who could be considered humble will be given the recognition they deserve if Keynoth has anything to say about it.
Egg Size: Small
Adult Size: 41’
Physical Attributes: Keynoth is a dragon of Benden blood and it shows - he may not be the largest of bronzes, but he is solidly - and broadly - built with a wide wingspan. He may be a touch on the stout side, however.
Additional Notes: As a baby, Keynoth will dread check-ups, fearing falling short of perfect in physical condition - or even worse, making it look like His has neglected him somehow.

Keynoth will struggle in Flights and Romance both - he doesn’t have the confidence to try and show off his strong suits to woo any rising lady. And he’ll want to chase any who will have him. He will be slow to settle down for keeps, though, as he fears rejection.

Why Me:
A humble man like Janahuin likely never really imagined himself on a bronze, anymore than he would have imagined himself on a blue or a green or any other color of dragon - well, besides perhaps his gold sister. But that is exactly why Keynoth wanted him - someone who wouldn’t have his ego inflated by the prestige of his hide is barely the surface of what he wanted though. Both man and dragon would prefer to hide their weaknesses from others, and in each other will find understanding - and someone who will tend to those needs without judgement.

Where Keynoth fears his own failure, Janahuin will lift those burdens from his dragon and give what confidence he does have to fill in the void as the one who is better able to put their best forward while carrying feelings like doubt or having a bad day. Where Janahuin desires no recognition for what he does, Keynoth will sing his praises and make his achievements known. They can be themselves with each other - and they can both support each other out into less familiar ground.

Would you be open to winning a different color dragon if this concept does not win the preferred bronze? Yes!

Chromatics For Life!

Name:N’dan (Formerly Nevidan)
Age: 26
Nameday: 3550.2.20
Sex: Male
Sexual Orientation: I wish I knew
Craft: Weyrbrat
Rank: Less Bratty
Location: Western Weyr
Physical Description: Tall and lean, with broad shoulders and a slim waist, N’dan is not a strong man but he has a nice silhouette. He has a rectangular face with dark eyes, dark hair, and tan skin.
Personality: Welcome to N'dan's circle - this man is a beacon of safety if there ever was one and he welcomes all to his fold without the slightest hint of judgement or reservation. From the kindest to the nastiest of people, N'dan is willing to extent his protection to everybody.

While fortunately growing up at Western Weyr has kept this young man from facing too much test to his trusting nature, what little it has been tested has been met with tooth, nail, and unbudging conviction. Attacking one of his self-deemed wards immediately raises N'dan's hackles - and going after him will immediately put him on the defensive. A defensive N'dan is a nasty N'dan and he has been known to go straight for the proverbial jugular, saying unkind things that he very well knows will hurt because someone else threw the first punch and can even been roused to physical altercations. He believes himself in the right for such behavior is justified because it is in self defense.

N'dan is also known for being firm - both in his expectations as well as in his opinions, neither of which have been formed half heartedly. It takes a lot to nudge his stance on near any issue (which makes amends for defensive N'dan's words mostly impossible - he was in the right), though he does keep his ear to the ground as he is only so far a stubborn fool. This same unmovable attitude keeps him loyal to his Weyr, his family, and his duty without even a blink of consideration that he very well could have had better options elsewhere. It keeps one bad rumor from having him throw away a perfectly good friend from what safety he offers.

On the flip side, however, this firmness also makes Nevidan a particularly critical young man who makes sharp judgements and holds them to an attainable, but unbudging, standard of quality. While he may not inflict this upon others (he is, afterall, unjudging of them), he is particularly strict with himself and those who perhaps want his brand of guidance. The goalpost will never move to be made easier. He will not wiggle to make mistakes fit.

Mistakes don't protect people and save lives the way he wants to.

Positive Trait List Protective, Trusting, Devoted
Negative Trait List Defensive, Unmoving, Strict
History: Nevidan was born the second son to a brownrider and a dragon healer of Western Weyr - though he only followed his older brother by a few minutes. While the boys were a result of a Goldflight, their parents gained an eye and a heart for each other, and two more children would follow - a daughter and another son.

Born into peaceful times, Nevidan and his twin, Nevilim, still dreamed of the grand heights of glory that dragonriders were known for. Nevilim wanted to be a grand hero of the people. Nevidan wanted to be their protector and see them safe through danger that wasn't expected in their lifetime - or ever again.

So they played the guard over their fellow weyrbrats and siblings. They were the protectors of Western Weyr and all of Pern in their games. Nevidan would never grow out of the idea.

Stepping into candidacy was something he had dreamed about his entire life, but it felt like it was taking so long to find who was His. To be found by them. Doubt could have grown, but Nevidan wouldn't allow himself to be met in a state of fear. He'd not be met in desperation.

Though he'd come to find desperation for a different end upon Thread's return - a frustration at being stuck on the ground rather than being the fighter, the protector he'd fantasized himself as in his youth.

But he would not allow his frustration no outlet, finding instead ways to serve while on the ground to the best of his abilities while he waited, Turns ticking by.

Turns ticking down to that single moment when it would be his turn to be looked upon with nothing but solid want.

Where is the fight, Nevidan? I will take you to it! Have no fear - your Zeyonth would go anywhere you want! Just say the word!

But the first stop to victory would be to feed a baby dragon.

Other: Vague on Nevilim and other sibs for future characters for other people dhdjd.

DRAGON - - - -
Name: Zeyonth
Personality Hark, who goes there? Zeyonth is keenly aware of his home and all who are in it - especially if they are not meant to be there. Where his dame is territorial and wary of strangers, Zeyonth follows quickly after, eyeballing any who are an unknown in his world to check for danger. While some may think his bark is bigger than his bite, however, the opposite is actually true. Most may not step over the line to earn such response, he is not above biting and scratching any dragon who he feels needs to be chased off - and humans may have his empathy keeping him in line, but he will absolutely rumble and threaten them away to the best of his ability if he must.

Those who have been deemed safe, however, will find themselves safe from any danger as Zeyonth will throw himself into any fray to protect them. No size of threat is too much for this fierce brown who would tear down a Gold’s Command if he had to - and if he was capable of it. He is not so particularly prideful as to be averse to 2 against 1 odds either. Are they on the side ganging up? Is he on the side being ganged up on? He doesn’t particularly care either way - life isn’t fair, so he’s not operating on it being so.

Which can turn him into a bit of a bully, especially if he makes the wrong friends. Zeyonth is very malleable by his surroundings, and the influences of those in positions of powers will flavor his opinions and how he treats those around him. Had he been shelled at High Reaches he’d fall in line as a brown who knows his place. The openness of Western, however, leaves uncertainty and potential - and he will constantly be flip-flopping on his own thoughts depending on who is responsible for him on a day to day basis as well as who earns his respect.

Egg Size: Small
Adult Size: 35’
Physical Attributes: On just the small size for a brown, Zeyonth is finely built especially in comparison to many of his stronger built siblings - though his wings are awkwardly large for his size, making them all the better to spread for the sake of intimidation, if he must. He has sharp features and is fairly long legged and tall for a dragon.
Additional Notes: Zeyonth will often walk with his wings mantled to assert himself on first meetings, walking with a sidewise gait to display his (small) size in warning. Additionally, his attentive nature will make Zeyonth a fine Watch Dragon when he is an adult.

He will never chase strangers when they rise, but will eagerly chase (or allow himself to be caught by) any dragon if he has a positive relationship with them. He will be very unlikely to chase a gold - unless someone puts the idea in his head.

Why Me: Has Nevidan looked at himself? If there was any stranger who would not stay one long for Zeyonth, it was him. Nevidan offered security and his immediate approachability made him an easy choice. But more than that, Nevidan wants to protect others - and Zeyonth is ready to trust in his rider and protect them too. They may risk getting into trouble if dirty fighting Zeyonth backs up dirty fighting Nevidan.

Further, Nevidan's trusting nature will help Zeyonth with his territorial concerns and allow him the room he needs to maker friends a little easier - if he's lucky. Nevidan's unbudging attitude will center Zeyonth and help keep the brown from falling under bad influences too easily. They are neither too alike nor too different - and that wiggle room is where they will help each other grow.

All That Glitters Is Bronze!

Name: G'rus (formerly Geraeus)
Age: 16
Nameday: 3560.07.01
Sex: Male
Sexual Orientation: Girls! Of course girls.
Craft: Fishercraft
Rank: Apprentice
Location: Western, now.
Physical Description: G'rus is far from finished growing, but he's not going to be a mountain of a man, even when he has. He's just a little under six foot now, 5'11" or so, so he'll probably top six feet, but there's no knowing for sure. He's built like he runs and knows a hard days' work already. There are definitely deep set calluses on his hands. He's olive-skinned, hazel-eyed and sports a dark head of hair that has enough wave to grow out of control when he lets it get long enough. That doesn't happen often. His clothes are practical, not pretty, and they fit him well.

Personality: G'rus is not great with rapid change. That's not to say he won't try new things. It isn't even meant to say that he can't adapt: he can. Given his druthers though, he'd much prefer that change followed a schedule posted well in advance.

He was -- is -- a hard-working young man with a deep-seated sense of honor and justice. He's never been a bully, and is uncomfortable to his core when he sees someone being picked on or pushed around. He's just never intervened. Never wanted to get involved with trouble that doesn't come straight at him. He's given other boys a hand up after a scuffle and if he needed to run for a healer, he'd do that, sure, but he's not the one to look to if you need protecting.

He's a big fan of order and rules and predictability, none of which he's sure of now, so he'll cling to what he's told and taught with all his might. The more uncomfortable he is, the less he jokes and laughs, though he has a sense of humor, he swears he does. He likes to keep his belongings tidy and to know where everything is, especially in a new situation. At home, in Tillek, he didn't mind having to go looking for his boots or a tool or his cousins, but in a world out of his control, not knowing something causes him no end of stress.

When all else fails him, though, he finds comfort in his imagination. He is a pretty decent storyteller, and was known, in his family, as someone who liked to embellish when a simple story would do. In many of those stories, G'rus was captain of a ship and would go on grand adventures to places that probably don't exist on Pern, but you'd never know, he said, unless you went out and looked. Well. This is the biggest adventure he never imagined and he's not sure, quite yet, how it will all end.

Positive Trait List Organized, disciplined, imaginative, helpful, creative
Negative Trait List obsessive, easily overwhelmed by change, calculating

History: Geraeus was born at Tillek Hold to a family deeply rooted in the Fishercraft. His father was a fisherman, both his grandparents were as well, and so on for as many generations back as anyone could remember. Growing up, it was all that Geraeus had ever known. He had big dreams of captaining his own ship one day, though the stories he told his friends and family were so filled with adventure and daring feats that he could easily write them off as "just" stories.

As soon as he was permitted, he asked to apprentice at the Hall and he threw himself into learning knots and coiling rope and holding tools at the ready so that one day he could walk the tables and call the shots.

Then Thread fell and all the sure things of his life disappeared. His father, who was at sea at during First Fall, survived, but with only a handful of the crew he left with, and returned with a nightmare retelling of the ship that came apart under his feet. Though his family survived, many of their friends did not, so they clung to each other for safety in a world that no longer made sense.

In the Turns since First Fall, Tillek Hold (and many other places, no doubt) became more dependent on High Reaches Weyr for security and protection. As a result, Geraeus' father asked to be allowed to be involved in organizing supplies and services that were sent to the Weyr to pay them back. When a shipment was being prepared, he would pull Geraeus away from his studies to help and make sure the boy was known and recognized.

So he couldn't escape the Searchrider when she came looking for Candidates to Stand at High Reaches. As a matter of fact, his mother made a great point of introducing him. She had lost interest in sending her son out to sea when unlucky timing might mean he never came back. The Weyr, she told him often, was the safer place to be.

So he went and he did his best to be prepared for the Hatching to come at High Reaches Weyr. And then word came through about a Hatching on the western continent, at another Weyr, much farther away and before he could voice an objection, he was on a dragon's back and headed halfway across Pern.

Some of the faces surrounding him were familiar, but many more were not and there were unfamiliar riders and dragons over head and --

And none of that matters now. I will watch you and you will watch me. Now come, Geraeusmine, there are too many things to do to stand in one place any longer. Come with your Ardupath!

He went.

Other: When they're loud, they're loud.

DRAGON - - - -
Name: Ardupath
Personality Ardupath is very eager to get things done and just as determined not to let G'rus trail behind him, or be behind anything at all, really. Front and center, up and at 'em, the dragon wants to be the first into any situation and G'rus is expected to be right there by his side.

He is tireless and determined that other dragons should do as he does and follow his lead, even if he's only had one lesson or seen a maneuver performed once. He understands that not all dragons are meant to be leaders, but he certainly is and he does not want to miss out on any opportunity to prove it.

But for all that he is a taskmaster and impatient to be Doing Something rather than just standing by, he is exceptionally patient and understanding of his clutchmates in particular. It's not their faults if they weren't made to be up front. He's got this, and he will defend them against anyone or any dragon who has a negative thing to say about them. Even themselves.

He is easily frustrated by being held back and somewhat prone to anger if he feels he's been unfairly restrained. Once through the struggle, owever, he will be solid as a rock. This is not a dragon easily distracted by anything.

Egg Size: Medium
Adult Size: 43'
Physical Attributes: Ardupath is pretty average for overall size, but he will be in tip-top shape once he's finished growing. Muscle definition will be very noticeable beneath his hide. He will be powerful, but not particularly quick.

Additional Notes: As he gets older, that urge to be first may be tempered, but it won't disappear. Thread? Let him at it. Flight? Dragons who wait don't catch! He is very proud of the fact that he can produce a longer than average gout of flame.

Why Me: Gaerus has potential. He just needs someone to pull it out of him. Who better than Ardupath who needs a partner who can live up to his expectations and exceed them? In his youth, Ardupath will rely on G'rus to keep him out of danger and from over extending himself. In exchange, G'rus will learn the value of speaking up and stepping forward, rather than letting someone else take the lead. They will temper one another's uncontrolled obsessions and Ardupath will guarantee that wherever G'rus ends up, it will always feel like home.

Oh, but that boast about being un-distractable? If either rider or dragon find something more permanent than a Flight-induced fantasy? Watch out. They share the same devotion and dedication for the softer side of life as they do the challenges. They may be awkward and inexperienced, but they will be all in.

A Golden Opportunity!

Name: Fidenais
Age: 21
Nameday: 3555.04.09
Sex: Female
Sexual Orientation: Interested
Craft: If applicable.
Rank:
Location: Western

Physical Description: Fidenais is a petite thing, 5'2" or so. Dark brown hair is cut to brush her shoulders, but is move often pulled back in a braid or put into a bun. Lightly tanned skin is unblemished. Her eyes are narrow and nearly black, Prior to Impression, she most often wore dresses. After, she has switched to fitted trousers and a rotating wardrobe of blouses.

Personality: Fidenais wants to be your friend. She isn't pushy about and she won't intrude if someone is making it clear that they want to be left alone, but otherwise, she likes striking up conversations with those around her, and if someone looks lonely, she'll invite them to join her in whatever she' up to.

She is generous. If she has am excess of anything -- food, clothing or anything else -- she is happy to share with others. If she's given a gift that can be divided, she will share it until there's nothing left to give out. She doesn't sacrifice her own portion of anything, but she's not hoarding anything she doesn't need, either.

She's not particularly physically affectionate. She's not a big fan of diving into hugs, for instance. On the other hand, she will often take a hand or offer her hand while she's talking to people one on one. She doesn't pull anyone close by that grip, but unless someone pulls away from her, she will hold on until the conversation's ended.

She is usually smiling or laughing when she's in public, even if she's simply walking by herself. Negative emotional outbursts are things she tries to avoid. She can almost always hold back tears when they might be expected. She does not let her temper get the bet of her.

Not in public, anyway. In the privacy of a private weyr or a solitary moment , she can and does feel the full range of emotions: sorrow, fear, anger, humiliation. She has, however, been so well trained and it so well-practiced in the art of Being Presentable, that it is the rare person who will ever see her less than composed or controlled.

Because the most important responsibility she has, as she has been taught her entire life before dragonriding, is to know who surrounds them and how to use them to best advantage. Fidenais has tricks to remember names even after a single brief meeting. She is exceptionally observant and she pays attention to both words and actions at all times. She is constantly sizing people up and adjusting their position in her mental rolodeck. When life becomes unpredictable, she wants to know how to use, or avoid, everyone to keep herself safe.

Positive Trait List Outgoing, generous, prepared, composed
Negative Trait List practiced, calculating, judgmental, insincere

History: Fidenais was born in a small cot-hold in the mountains to the southeast of Western Weyr. The second daughter of a large family, she leaned very quickly what was expected of her and she fell in line. She stood beside her mother and learned all the skills she was told would make her a successful member of their little nook of society.

Though the rules in the cothold were never as strict as those told about the older, inflexible Holds of the northern continent, there still wasn't much room to bend or challenge the rules. Rather than being premitted to learn a craft, Fidenais was kept close to home to be groomed into the perfect young woman and perhaps, a wife, to the Cotholder's son.

Some girls might have chafed under such restriction. Fidenais taught herself to be patient and reasoned that, when she was old enough to marry, she could perhaps argue for a different et of freedoms, and if not, well, at least she would be in a separate household and out from beneath her parents' heavy thumb.

Threadfall changed the rules before growing up could. Her mother had begun the long and intricate dance of oh-so-subtly putting Fidenais in the path of the cotholder's Heir. It looked like it was working, too. She and Demithian were getting on well. They liked each other. She thought, one day, she could even love him.

But First Fall took a heavy toll on the cothold and it's families. Not in the number of deaths but in one, especially. The Cotholder himself was caught out before he could be urged to safety and he died a painful death in front of many of the terrified families. As a result. Demmithian was forced into the role of Cotholder much earlier than anyone expected and his budding interest in Didenais had to be put on hold.

And that, in turn, opened up a new opportunity. At 17, Fideais was invited, like many from other Holds large and small, to travel to the Weyr to stand before the eggs that would be lain and the dragons that would hatch to fight the returned threat. It was a way out of the cothold, a way to escape her limited destiny, and a chance, perhaps, to embrace the woman that Fidenais was meant to become.

Ah! There you are, my Fidenais! There are so many lovely people here that I got a little lost finding my way to you. Never mind that. Your Esperanth is here now. No more waiting. It is our time to shine!

Other: Louder still. XD

DRAGON - - - -
Name: Esperanth

Personality Esperanth has a plan for everyone. If she hasn't figured you out yet, just answer a few (dozen) questions for her, and she will slot you right into place, never you worry. Stray out of line and she will politely remind you that you've done so and gently nudge you back where you belong, just so.

She is not prone to displays of emotion, staying more or less on an even keel at all times. At her worst, she expresses disappointment, both at herself and other dragons, but in the next breath she will encourage another try, or pick herself up to do the same. She doesn't demand perfection, just that a valid effort be made.

While some dragons have trouble with long-term memory, Esperanth's is particuarly bad. If she doesn't have frequent contact with another dragon, she is unlikely to have clear memories of them. This doesn't trouble her much because she's happy to ask a barrage of questions all over again until somethine triggers her memory. It may take time, but it's time well spent, as far as she's concerned.

Egg Size: Medium
Adult Size: 46.5'

Physical Attributes: Slightly larger than the average gold, Esperanth still has a graceful build, her lines a little more delicate than some others.

Additional Notes: Whether the actual act of flight is indeed easier for her than some other dragons, Esperanth rarely looks like she's working to fly.

Why Me: Esperanth had a very particular Someone in mind when she hatched and went looking for her soulmate. Along the way, though, she ran into several -- not just Tylefisan -- who were clearly perfect for her clutchmates. At last, however, she found her Fidenais and she knew this was the soul she'd been looking for.

In Fidenais, Esperanth has found someone who understands that everyone had a place, even if they don't know quite where it is. With Fidenais's help in weighing the pros and cons of each, and her sharper memory, Esperanth will be able to keep better track of them and choose just the right place for them in her mind.

In Esperanth, Fidenais will find permission to act on those thoughts and ideas she has been taught to keep to herself. All those assessments and assumptions will not go to waste. She will gain the confidence to speak her mind, but have an ever-present voivve in her ear reminding her to do so with compassion, rather than command.

And of course, Esperanth will share and understand all of Fidenais's deeper feelings and be there to support and love her when the world is, as it sometimes must be, too much.

Chromatics For Life!

Name: Ar'mon (formerly Aramon)
Age: 23
Nameday: 3753.13.15
Sex: Male
Sexual Orientation: Any and all.
Craft: Thiefcraft?
Rank: Master in his mind.
Location: Western

Physical Description: Ar'mon is an even 6' tall and lean. He in good health and decent shape, but there is not a bit of pudge about him. Despite being out of his teens, he is somehow all arms and legs. Reddish-brown hair is a point of pride and he wears it long enugh to tie back in a sleek runner's tail. His eyes are a stormy hazel and perpetually full of mirth.

Personality: Ar'mon is a charmer. He's good at being a friend. He tells jokes, he shares all the news he knows, and he is more than willing to listen and opine on anyone's problems. Tell him you need backup and he will be right there at your side. Just don't ask him to guard anything you hold too dear.

Oh, you'll get it back. Since coming to the Weyr, he's learned that he can't get away with outright theft. He's had his hand slapped and his chores increased too much and too often not to have picked up on that. Thieving, however, is still in his blood and he still gets a little rush out of the frantic search for missing things when he knows exactly where they are. He's an expert at sleight of hand, but he's not even particularly worried about being accused of theft any more. It's a game to him and he is unconcerned about being called out.

Beneath the silver-tongued con man exterior, Ar'mon does genuinely care for his friends, and would not put another person in actual harm's way. His brand of friendship may be a bit rough around the edges, but it's sincere and he is loyal once he's committed to being a friend. More than that, he *needs* friends around him. Having grown up without a blood-related family, friends were his support network, and without them, he feels unprotected, isolated and afraid.

Which isn't to say that he can't take care of himself. He can and has in the past and could do so again if need be. If forced to be on his own, he will lash out at those doing so. He has been in fights and is not afraid to play dirty.

But given the choice he prefers the comfort of company and friends and at least a thin veneer of society.

Positive Trait List Charmind, fun-loving, entertaining, playful
Negative Trait List a prankster, deceptive, unpredictable

History: Aramon grew up in the streets of Rivercrest Hold. He doesn't know who his parents were, but as they didn't really have anything to do with raising him, it doesn't really matter who they were, does it? He was pulled into a pint-sized pack of pickpocket who, as they grew up and honed not only their thieving skills but their ability to make fast getaways, graduated to bigger and more costly thefts.

Crime wasn't the only thing Aramon learned, however. Along the way, he picked up a knack for being charming, for knowing the right words and exactly how to say them to slip in under people's guard and earn their trust. That makes it easier, of course, to rob them blind. It's also great for cheating them at dice, if one must know.

Having graduated from simple thefts to more complicated schemes like bribery and coercion as he left his teens, he made the mistake of trying to sell a piece of paste jewelry to a rider from Western Weyr. The idea was that after the man was sleeping, Aramon would sneak in, collect the ecklace, a handful of marks and any other shiny thing that caught his eye. He had the rider figured out, he thought.

He failed to account for the dragon.

Rather than turning Aramo over to Hold authority, however, the rider offered a contract of sorts. Come back to the Weyr, Stand before the dragons themselves, and let them decide what his fate would be.

Aramon agreed. Not because he thought he would find a dragon, but because he figured there would be plenty for the taking in a Weyr.

Mistake number two.

Since coming to Western, he has had to curb his thieving. Oh yes, now and then someone would lose a necklace in the bath, but it's always returned a few days later. And Aramon never once simply tried to cut and run home. He was still convinced that, perhaps, if a dragon chose him, it could benefit Rivercrest and give him back his place of pride among his old friends.

Old friends? AramonMine, you need no old friends now that you have Heskierth at your side. We will stay and figt together! You must stay with me!

Not even a heartbreaker like Aramon could have refused that command.

Other: Did I mention loud?

DRAGON - - - -
Name: Heskierth

Personality Heskierth is an immovable object. Once set on a task, he can not be easily convinced to deviate from it. Because he is aware of his size, he considers himself an all-round protector. He has very little sense of self-preservation, particularly if he is aware that someone less formidable is in danger.

He is loyal, beyond question, to the Weyr. He will not be particularly comroftable with even short trips away from it, as he is concened with what might happen when he is away. Moving to another Weyr would cause him a great deal of distress and is something he could only be convinced of if he as shown great need.

He is not prone to playing or jokes. He *can* play but he takes it all very
seriously and may not understand if he's asked to do something for fun. Thread fighting drills baffle him, because he is clear on the difference between painted rope and actual Thread. Still, if he's meant to flame that painted rope, well. Don't get in his way.

When it comes to Flights and females, he is again at a loss. For the most part, Heskierth considers other dragons as his to protect. Romantic or hormonal feelings are confusing if unavoidable and in such situations, he relies on his steadfastness, because in no way, shape or form does he come close to being smooth.

Egg Size: Large
Adult Size: 45'

Physical Attributes: Heskieth is a bruiser of a dragon, even from the moment he broke his shell. Broad wings would look very odd on a dragon with a smaller body. On this beast, they are absolutely proportional. Some might say he's a little thick in the middle, but if he seems heavy, it doesn't seem to cost him much. Some speed, some dexterity, of course, but he is a powerhouse of stamina and stability.

Additional Notes: Heskieth is not interested in showy feats of speed or acrobatic agility. He is the equivalent of a tank when it comes to battling Thread, less worried about dodging than destroying the enemy with enthusiastic gouts of flame. The same can be said when he chooses to chase in a Flight. This is no show-boat dragon. He is steady and intent and determined, with no need for frills or fancies.

Why Me: Herkierth is the anchor that Ar'mon needs to truly make him feel at home and welcome. He is steady and competent, but does not need or particularly wnat to brag and boast about it, which helps to take a little of the hot air out of Ar'mon himself. On the flipside, Ar'mon brings lightness to Heskierth's overwhelming sense of duty. Ar'mon will teach Heskierth how to enjoy life and maybe even how to have a little fun.

A Golden Opportunity!

Name: Inaisse
Age: 22
Nameday: 3554.03.11
Sex: Female
Sexual Orientation: ???
Craft: Weaver
Rank: Journeyman
Location: Western Weyr
Physical Description:
Bearing little resemblance to her Runner mother, Inaisse is a soft and curvy 5'5" with brown hair and hazel eyes.
Personality:
Chock full of the charisma from her father's side that made them such good Traders, Inaisse is naturally personable, but in a quiet and easy way. While good with people, she's not aggressively outgoing: she doesn't push her company or opinions on anyone, at least not overtly. She can be gently persuasive if she feels someone needs to be convinced of something, whether it's to encourage them to try harder or to let go of a toxic mindset, or just something as simple as trying that new thing they're not quite sure about.

Inaisse is a wonderful cheerleader and support squad for her friends, always willing to help and do what she can. She enjoys being a help, just as much as she enjoys putting her time and effort to a task. And she does put her time into tasks: she is measured and meticulous about everything she does, and would much rather take her time and get something perfect than rush and have it come out subpar. She hates to be rushed or interrupted, and the resulting fuss it leaves her in can completely derail her task and leave her at a loss.

Her life and everything in it needs to be just so: Inaisse is exceedingly particular about everything from her space, to her appearance, to her schedule. She likes a predictable, structured life, especially having come from one that was anything but. When this is disrupted, it throws her for a real loop, and it can take her quite some time to settle herself again. If, for some reason, she doesn't have the time to get her composure back together, her performance will definitely suffer. She does not like surprises, or having to make a decision without the time to think it through properly. Spontaneity and Inaisse are not friends.

She is a creature of habit and discipline who thrives in a structured environment, and who also very much enjoys her creature comforts. There is little more satisfying after a long day of hard work than a good meal and a warm, soft bed. Inaisse loves little indulgences - and big ones - possibly a bit more than she should. Temptations can override her usually careful decision-making process, and while she won't take what isn't hers, if it is free for the taking...well, what's the harm?

Positive Trait List meticulous, personable, supportive
Negative Trait List perfectionist, habit-driven, indulgent

History:
One of a number of children born to a Runner and a Trader who lived apart more often than they lived together due to their respective Crafts - and an ideal arrangement due to a penchant on both sides to temper - Inaisse spent much of her childhood back and forth between the two sides of her family. With both older and younger siblings, as well as extended family, she never lacked for company or affection. As it was readily apparent from an early age that she had a personality ideally suited for Trading, everyone assumed that she would ultimately stick with that side of the family, but by 12, she had decided that that would not be her path, nor would she take after her mother.

Though it was exciting, in many ways, to be always on the move, Inaisse much admired the Holds they visited, and was both fascinated by and envious of living life in just one place. It seemed to her the ultimate luxury, to have a proper bed in a proper building, to always be safe and comfortable, and to have more than just a handful of things that were hers. With a love for beautiful things, particularly for the fine garments that they sometimes bought and sold but had little use for themselves - what use for a sparkling dress on the road? - she asked to go to Weavercraft Hall, and was sent with no argument. Her family would miss her, but if that was her path to happiness, they wouldn't deny her.

Inaisse thrived at Hall, taking to her chosen craft like a fish to water. She was dutiful and dedicated to learning, and was an easy student, never a troublemaker or rebel. She was happy to be there, and would never do anything to jeopardize her place. Though not unfriendly by any means, she preferred to devote most of her time to her tasks and craft, rather than to socializing. She did fall into a few friends, mostly those of similar focus, and was always willing to help if asked to do so.

She advanced at a measured pace, and became a Journeyman at 21...and shortly after found herself Searched to Western Weyr. She hesitated, weighing her options - she had put in Turns of hard work toward her dream, after all - before ultimately agreeing to go. Much of her family, due to their roving ways, is especially vulnerable to Threadfall, and she couldn't help but think of them. And one of her brothers, Set'al, was already a rider, and at Western to boot. She felt she owed it to them all to try.

Esurienth and Phylideth's clutch would be her first time Standing, and she had no expectation that it would be the last. She did have some concerns about thr possible risks, but most of the hatchlings got on with their business with minimal drama, which was quite the relief. She was a bit surprised - and terribly amused - when a hatchling Queen stopped to consider one of the boys and declared he would be suitable for one of her siblings. And so he was, quickly claimed by a green - had the gold been scoping him out for her? Inaisse wondered over it for a few moments, but turned her attention to another cracking egg.

No, no, that one won't do for you at all, my dear. They won't complement you properly. See? The gold, who now stood beside her and offered her feedback like it was just another conversation, had trained her gaze in the same direction as Inaisse's. That shade of brown isn't you at all. Gold, on the other hand...now that is much more like it. Wouldn't you agree, Mine?

Rainbow eyes turned to hers, and that was that.

Other: <3

DRAGON - - - -
Name: Tilaqueth
Personality
In a clutch full of confidence, Tilaqueth does not disappoint. How could she? I mean, have you seen her? Tilaqueth is absolute perfection: flawless proportions, a shimmering hide, a graceful carriage. She has plenty of lovely and handsome siblings, she'll give you that, but they're not Tilaqueth, and Tilaqueth is beauty incarnate, as far as she's concerned. She is everything that everyone should want, or at the very least want to be, if they're being honest with themselves.

That being said, Tilaqueth isn't so delightfully splendid because she's gold - although the light does play particularly well on her hide - she's just splendid because she's Tilaqueth. She'd be just as pretty and perfect no matter what shade she was; she'd also be just as catty and selfish. Very much the "popular girl" stereotype, Tilaqueth believes she deserves to get her way, and assumes that if she flutters just so and turns on the charm or plays the helpless damsel, she will get what she wants. She is quite aware that her color will get her little at Western Weyr, so she has to use her other natural traits to her advantage...which is to say, her physical beauty and skill for charm. What Tilaqueth wants tends, in actuality, to be fairly shallow. She's not an ambitious dragon with an eye to power, but rather an eye to more tangible desires. She wants the most delectable cuts of meat, the most exotic new scent for her oil, that mysterious new boy who just joined the Weyr. And if someone else wants something? Ohh, she might not have even glanced before, but now she's interested, whether in a fancy set of straps or a clutchmate's crush.

Tilaqueth herself, however, is not quite as shallow as she seems, and there is more heart to this dragon than even she realizes. For all that she's preoccuppied with being the belle of the ball, it stems from a desperate need to be wanted and loved, and a tiny seed of insecurity that she's not really that special after all. Driven, therefore, by a need to prove that she is, she's determined to fake it until she makes it. The more and better friends she has, the more validated she feels, and so she will do her best to collect a "clique" of sorts. Still, though she does love her clutchmates and circle of friends, and is in fact incredibly dependent on them, she has a tendency to put her own needs and wants first without thinking. So while her beauty and charm may lure affection to her, her selfishness might just as soon alienate it.

Her impulsive focus on getting what she wants in the moment is likely to get in the way of her finding true friendships or deep relationships of any kind; she may well sabotage them by reaching for what isn't hers to take. On her good days, when she is feeling secure in herself, Tilaqueth is a good friend. She is attentive, and fond, and doting, and if someone makes the mistake of hurting one of her friends, she will not hesitate to rip them down and make them hurt. If, on the other hand, it was she who hurt them, and she can be made to realize it, she will turn that hurt on herself and wallow in it. With Hers to help, maybe she'll even learn from it and do better.

Tilaqueth will be in for hard lessons about what is truly important in life, but with the influence of the right rider, might learn them without crumbling under the consequences of her own poor decisions and sometimes unthinking treatment of others.

As Thread is the ultimate threat to those she loves, she will be an ardent fighter: no privilege here, only a desire to protect and another chance to prove that she is worthy of being loved.

Egg Size: Small
Adult Size: 43'
Physical Attributes: Perfect, of course. Though a touch on the small side for a gold, Tilaqueth is all long, elegant lines, every inch of her exactly as it should be...pay no attention to the just slightly crooked tailfork from not sitting quite right in her egg.
Additional Notes: Tilaqueth will adore Flights and all the attention and affection that go along with them. As impulsive as she is, catching her hearts won't be difficult, and she'll be prone to crushes and unhealthy infatuations.

Why Me:
As someone who wants what she wants and sees no shame in it, Tilaqueth appreciates Inaisse's, well, appreciation of the finer things in life; she would never want a rider who would try to convince her to place less importance on them. That being said, Inaisse does know that certain things aren't for the taking, and can help her understand when that's the case. She'll also be able to share her sense of discipline, and help her to slow down and think things through rather than always acting on impulse. Actions and even words have consequences, and Tilaqueth needs to understand it.

Ever the cheerleader, Inaisse will be a well of support for her dragon, always there to assure her that yes, she is special, and she does deserve love - and she has all of Inaisse's. And perhaps Tilaqueth's ultra-social nature will bring a few more friends into Inaisse's life (and Tilaqueth herself can give her routine a good shaking-up).

All That Glitters Is Bronze!

Name: T'nan (formerly Tyanan)
Age: 21
Nameday: 3555.13.01
Sex: male
Sexual Orientation: whatever's clever
Craft: Dolphineer
Rank: Apprentice
Location: Western Weyr
Physical Description: T'nan's pale blond hair has been sunbleached a pure, almost luminous white from all the time he's spent at the beach. It's mostly straight, just brushing the tops of his shoulders, with heavy cowlicky bangs that keep wanting to fall in his face. Honey-copper tanned in complexion, T'nan has strong cheekbones, jawline and chin, a straight, slightly pointed nose, and a fullish mouth usually sporting either a faint sly smile or a wide feral grin. His eyes are hooded and slightly uptilted, hazel with dark brows and lashes. At 6' even, T'nan is slim to average in build, lean and ripped but not excessively beefy. He carries himself in a relaxed, confident manner; he's proud of his physical condition and deeply comfortable in his own skin.

T'nan's fashion sense can best be described as beachbum couture; his palette of choice seems to be primarily cool, subdued colors (read: so washed out it can be hard to tell what color they once were). He wears plain shirts in various states of wear (when he bothers with a shirt); plain trousers occasionally rolled up almost to his knees; and beat-up boots. He also wears a battered dark grey leather duster-type coat when it gets chilly. Surfing calls for ugly board shorts.

Personality:
T'nan is one of those people who comes across as genuinely larger than life. He's fully aware he can be a serious badass at times, but doesn't flaunt it unless necessary; in truth, he's an easy-going, happy-go-lucky guy with a very live-and-let-live outlook on life and absolutely no fear. The True Love of his life is the ocean; he lives for surfing, especially big-wave surfing, a passion he developed amongst the dolphineers.

The word that best describes T'nan is shameless. He's almost completely lacking in society-imposted morals (such as "men can only do this, women can only be that" etc.), though he does have an extremely strong set of personal ethics that he abides by and will fight for. He's an unashamed mooch and master scrounge; his catchphrase could well be, "Are you going to eat that?" He likes doing things for his friends and loves to play Mr. Helpful -- if something needs doing, he'll give you a hand regardless of what it is. Gregarious and sociable, T'nan has never met a stranger. He considers everyone a friend, from the lowest drudge in the Lower Caverns to the Weyrwoman herself (whom he thinks is a hoot, he just adores her and would follow her to the Red Star itself).

T'nan is not an inherently violent man, but sometimes his behavior will remind you just how dangerous he can be, especially when he's angry. His temper is of the slow-burn-then-explode variety, though nothing makes him blow up faster than someone harassing his friends or violating his personal ethics -- he will go from Mellow Dude to Mop The Floor With The Troublemaker faster than you can blink. T'nan suffers from rampaging perfectionism, though of a purely personal nature. He gets frustrated and angry with himself when he can't do something perfectly the first time, or when he doesn't live up to his own ridiculously high personal standards, and will keep pushing himself sometimes well past the point of reason. And when the frustration gets to be too much, he'll often just take off down to the beach; the ocean is his safety valve, and keeps him from doing anything too stupid when he's upset.

T'nan is a team player and functions most effectively in a group. He might clash with the leader(s) on occasion -- largely over tactics -- but he's steadfastly loyal to his wingmates and his Weyr. T'nan's an expert at flying by the seat of his pants, quickly analyzing a situation and adapting his actions to changing circumstances. He takes his duties very seriously; he will take full and ruthless advantage of his wingmates, using them as windbreaks to deflect Thread away in such a way as his dragon can flame it.

Positive Trait List adaptable, tenacious, fearless, steadfast, takes his duties very seriously
Negative Trait List impulsive, relentless in the extreme, amoral, ruthless, personal perfectionist

History:
Tyanan was born to a pair of dolphineers at Dolphin Hall, at Rubicon River Hold on the Southern Continent. His parents, Tyaa and Ronan, were avid surfers as well as skilled dolphineers, and Tyanan fell in love with the ocean and learned to surf at an early age. He often accompanied his parents to go surfing with their dolphins; he loved surfing and was a natural with the dolphins, so it was a logical next step to become an apprentice Dolphineer at age 14.

The teen excelled as a dolphineer. By age 17 he was on the verge of walking the tables to Journeyman when Thread returned after an interval of 1000 years. It destroyed half the buildings of the Hall; the dolphins, living in the water, were spared for the most part (as Thread dies in the water of the ocean), but many of the humans at the Hall perished… including his mother.

Tyanan was heartbroken. He thought about leaving the dolphin craft and becoming a dragonrider, and after a sevenday of pondering this he decided that was what he wanted to do. The young man booked passage on a ship to Igen, where he went straight to the Weyr to declare his intent. Surprised at someone actually coming to them, the Weyr leadership requested he be Searched; to his delight he was found worthy, and he immediately began training as a Candidate. He stood for clutches over the span of a couple of Turns without Impressing, and with every failed Impression he grew more frustrated. Hearing about a shortage of riders at Western Weyr, on the distant Western Continent, he decided to try his luck there instead.

He booked the long passage to Western, and as with Igen declared his intent at the Weyr. Once again the Weyr leadership were surprised, but they welcomed him, once again he was Searched, and he became a Western Candidate at age 19. After a couple of Turns without Impressing at Western, he finally Impressed Setath. It was all he had hoped it would be.

DRAGON - - - -
Name: Setath
Personality Setath is as small as bronzes get, but that doesn't keep this dragon down! He may be a small bronze, but he has an enormously huge personality. Bold and brash, he is as willing to take risks as his rider is, darting through the air with surprising nimbleness and skill after Thread (or after the object of his affections during a flight). He stands up to others outside his own wing who would try to push him around; the only authority he respects is his own wingleader and the Weyr leadership, and even then, if His disagrees with the tactics being called for in preparation for flying a 'Fall, he will stand beside T'nan and support him.

This dragon's hearts are as huge as his personality. He is a passionate creature and tends to develop what can only be called crushes on other dragons; he will fall hard for someone and woo them with dragon poetry and gifts (usually food). And if he is rejected, he will mope for days -- it usually takes T'nan to pull him out of it with treats or a day spent at the beach surfing with His. And oh, how Setath loves the beach! He loves it nearly as much as T'nan does; an excellent swimmer, he enjoys playing in the waves and sunbathing on the beach and catching fish. In fact, he prefers fish over meat from the beasts in the Feeding Pen. Part of that is the thrill of the hunt -- feeding on the captive prey feels like no challenge at all to him. And he is all about challenging himself.

Egg Size: Medium
Adult Size: 35'
Physical Attributes: compact and muscular, broad wings, thick powerful neck and tail, as agile in the air as a brown
Additional Notes: Setath flames hard, as if he wants to char Thread with extreme prejudice; his flame is long in length, but comes out in short bursts, and he goes through firestone like it's candy. In mating flights, he will chase anyone who goes up -- green or gold, doesn't matter to him, especially if he has developed a draconic crush on them.

He and T'nan will request a weyr on the beach as close to the ocean as is safe.

Why Me: If there was anyone who would be able to stand up to Setath's boldness and brashness, it's Tyanan. He has nearly as expansive a personality as this dragon does and a strong enough will to keep him in check. Conversely, Setath's boldness embraces Tyanan's self-assurance and between the two of them they are a force of nature. This pair both have huge hearts and strong passions and are willing to fight for what they want and believe in. Each enables the other to greater heights; together they will be a powerful pair!

Chromatics For Life!

Name: K'zar (formerly Keizar)
Age: 20
Nameday: 3556.13.28
Sex: male
Sexual Orientation: pretty clearly bisexual
Craft: n/a
Rank: n/a
Location: Western Weyr
Physical Description: Scruffy bad boy. 5'11"-ish, slim and hard as a razor blade, moves quick and snaky. Sharp-featured and hawk-faced beneath shaggy collar-length dark hair, he's got a look that's black-eyed and intense, ice-cold, and potentially dangerous... until he turns on the thousand-glow grin or pulls a face so derpy and unexpected one can't help but be charmed by him.

He prefers to keep it simple clothing-wise, plain shirts and tunics with or without an overshirt or vest, beat-up trousers and ugly boots. His outerwear tends to be his flight jacket, because he already has it. He cleans up nicely, though, when the occasion calls for it. Almost everything he owns clothing-wise is second-hand.

Personality: K'zar's one of those guys who can walk into a room and know everyone in it. He's very personable and outgoing, a natural charmer -- unless you're a stranger. There's a hint of cool distrust even as he's chatting you up, and he's not just chatting you up to be social. He's in fact evaluating you to determine 1) if you're worth bothering with in general, and 2) if you've got anything he can gamble out of you.

Self-confident and egocentric, he ultimately turns the conversation to himself. He's strong-willed, persistent and resourceful, with just a bit of the charming rogue-hero; he believes in taking from them what gots, and giving to them what ain't got (namely, himself). He's not a thief or con-man, he's simply not above relieving some drunken holder of his disposable marks in a game of dragon poker, fair and square.

While K'zar loves his mother as blood-family, he treasured Kailo as his family of choice. He appointed himself Protector back in Rivercrest Hold, and it was a duty he took as seriously as protecting his mother and the family business. He swore early on that if anything happened to any of them, he'd go to the ends of Pern to enact as messy and unpleasant a revenge as he could. This combination of duty and vengeance underlies everything about him, a layer of frost beneath the gregarious surface.

His mother doesn't know it, but he's been paying "protection" to the local dockside gang in Rivercrest who killed his father. Of course, it makes him sick to his stomach to do this, but he feels it's his duty to make sure his mother and the family business are safe. It will also be his duty -- and his pleasure -- to kill the entire gang, should the situation and means present themselves.

One of the ways he makes his marks is gambling. K'zar learned dragon poker at a young age, and it wasn't long before he became something of a card sharp. He doesn't necessarily cheat, mind you, at least not often; he just plies his targets with booze and waits until they get drunk enough to make stupid mistakes. K'zar is a cutthroat card player, pouncing as soon as he senses vulnerability in his target for the night. He always has a deck of cards on him, ready to go.

Positive Trait List charming, dutiful, strong-willed, resourceful, self-confident
Negative Trait List vengeful, distrustful, angry, gambler, egocentric

History:
Keizar was born and raised in the family business, a little hole in the wall bar in Rivercrest Hold's dockside district. When he was five, he witnessed the brutal murder of his father Jizar at the hands of the local gang enforcers, and he swore two things to himself: 1) that he would become the man of the family and take care of his mother Elki, and 2) someday he would get revenge.

As one might expect of a deeply angry kid, Keizar was a terror on the streets of Rivercrest, pelting other kids with rocks and constantly getting into fights. It was when he sent a kid to the healers with a serious injury at 10 Turns old that it was determined he was a problem child. This was around when he met Kailo, an orphaned street kid who lurked on the periphery of the other kids. The pair quickly became their own little kid-gang, with Keizar and Kailo getting into kidfights with bullies and not putting up with crap from anyone, defending each other from all comers.

Keizar and Kailo were inseparable, and by the time they hit their teens they were more like brothers than friends. The boys were fixtures at the bar running around the bar helping Keizar's mum with dishes and cleaning and lifting and toting things. Things were hard, but fairly idyllic for the pair, and it kept them out of trouble.

Until Thread returned and ruined everything, Keizar and his mother were in the bar and sought shelter among the barrels of liquor, but Kailo was caught outside and killed. Keizar was furious, screaming his vengeance at the sky. How dare Thread take his closest friend from him? At least his mother was safe, there was some comfort in that, and the bar was still mostly intact, being partially made of stone bricks. Roofs and fixtures could be replaced; friends and loved ones could not.

A few days later, a dragonrider came through, Searching for potential candidates to join the ranks of Western Weyr. Keizar had seen dragons and dragonriders before -- they were frequent customers at the bar, and while he was usually kept busy serving the riders, he was fascinated with the enormous creatures. This rider, though, asked him to come out and actually meet her dragon. With a shrug, he complied -- and immediately the big brown dragon spoke to him! Right away the dragonrider asked if Keizar wanted to come to the Weyr and learn to fight Thread. A chance to enact revenge for the death of his friend? Shells yes!

Keizar stood for clutches and failed to Impress over the next few Turns, but he never gave up. He studied and did chores around the Weyr and studied harder and tried and tried his hardest to Impress. Then it happened -- a dragonet came up to him and told him he was the one for him.

Other:

DRAGON - - - -
Name: Koth
Personality Koth may be of average size, but he is by no means an average dragon. Smart as well as clever, he knows it, too. He brags to his clutchmates and eventually his wingmates about how fantastic his rider is; he's like a one-dragon cheering squad for K'zar. Look how cunning Mine is! How crafty! This dragon is also something of a prankster -- he greatly enjoys pulling subtle pranks on other dragons as well as His, or at least trying to. One of his great challenges is to try and trick K'zar with a prank that will really Get him, although more often than not he gets caught or the prank misfires or it fails in some other way.

Apart from the playful pranking, Koth is as devoted and dedicated to his duty as a defender of Pern as any dragon, maybe even moreso. He feels he has a personal vendetta against Thread due to the loss that K'zar suffered during that first Threadfall in a millenium. Thread hurt His -- Koth will not stand for this! This dragon never forgives or forgets harm coming to His, from any source, and while it's against his nature to kill outright, he's not above giving the source of the harm a healthy scare. Dragons have long sharp teeth, after all...

Egg Size: Small
Adult Size: 38'
Physical Attributes: long and snaky and sleek, a narrow head and long tail, long wings; talented at soaring, catching the thermals and staying in the air a long time
Additional Notes: Koth's flames are long and long-lasting; no short bursts for him! He will continue to flame until the Thread is nothing more than crackdust. He is terribly picky when it comes to mating flights; she has to be just the right gold or green for him to bother participating. Most of the time he just ignores the flight lust, even during gold flights.

Why Me: There is no doubt in Koth's mind that Keizar is the right match for him. He knew it from the moment the young man set foot on the Sands. They are of a like mind, these two; they are both charming and disarming, self-confident and a bit vain, obsessed with duty and loyal to the extreme. And they both think they're just a bit smarter than the other dragon pairs. They are vicious when it comes to fighting Thread -- Koth because he was born to destroy it, Keizar because he wants revenge. Koth and Keizar bring out the best in each other and mitigate at least some of each other's negative qualities. Together they're a perfect fit.

All That Glitters Is Bronze!

Name: Rem'ori (formerly Remdianori)
Age: 24
Nameday: 3552.01.03
Sex: Male
Sexual Orientation: Pansexual
Craft: None
Rank: N/A
Location: Western Weyr
Physical Description: Rem'ori has short wavy sable brown hair, and dark green eyes. He is slim, well toned, and, in his mind, tall enough. Standing five foot eight he isn’t the tallest in the Weyr but as he likes to put it, he is the best at being Rem'ori. No one else would do.

Personality: Rem'ori meets life with a grin. Confident in his place in the world and his ability to fill it fully, the man is ready to take that world on. Pern may not know it yet, but it is better off with Rem'ori in it. He knows it and that is all that matters. With the surety in his self that comes with the confidence, comes a haughty presence that is perhaps not as well received as he would like. It isn’t that he means to be superior to others, he is just that great. Being borderline arrogant about his own worth is just the price to pay for being so wonderful.

This is a wonderfulness that needs to be shared and enjoyed. Rem'ori is more than willing to provide that to everyone around him. He knows he is hedonistic and revels in it. There is no shame in pleasure and enjoyment in life. But even if he has no shame about it, doesn’t mean it is without consequences. More inclined to do something that feels good, he is prone to procrastinating and avoiding work to have fun. Fun things such as creating art. Making art is as vital to Rem'ori as breathing. Aesthetics are important to him and he meets each challenge with the eye of making it beautiful.

Energy abounds within Rem'ori and drives him constantly. Even when avoiding something, he is engaging in something else whole heartedly. That desire to always be doing something, that energy that is always driving him, also results in him having a tendency to provoke people for the fun of it. Curious about what people would do in situations, Rem'ori will stir up trouble. He knows that it is wrong sometimes, but can’t help it at times. He loves to push and prod at people. It is like a social experiment to him.

Positive Trait List Confident, energetic, artistic
Negative Trait List hedonistic, haughty, provocative
History: Born to two kitchen workers at Western Weyr, Rem’ori grew up in and out of the creche and his parents’ home. He was a happy boy that loved nothing more than to draw and paint. HIs parents couldn’t afford a lot of paint for him, it was a special treat when they got some, but he got very good at making charcoal for drawing. When interacting with other children, Rem’ori was prone to trying to engage everyone and would seek out those that were shy or reserved and make sure they got attention too.

At 14 he began standing for clutches and his faith that his dragon would come never wavered. He know that he had to be patient to find his perfect companion. Threadfall made him a little nervous. He hadn’t grown up thinking that he would be risking his life quite that much. But after some contemplation he realized that it was a job that was worth it. Besides if a dragon choose him, then clearly that was what he was meant for. Even if he wasn’t sure at first.

The turns were long and while he entertained himself well enough, he was beginning to feel he as in a never ending cycle of standing for clutches. Surely it would break soon, right? His dragon was out there. How long would he have to wait? When moments of plaintiveness grew, he would sternly remind himself that he would wait as long as he had to.

Then, at Esurienth and Phylideth’s clutch, it happened. It was so simple and yet so magical to Rem’ori. The man had been thinking about how beautiful the baby dragons were and how much he wanted the chance to paint them all when one of the bronze dragonets cavorting around the Sands veered off and pounced on Rem’ori. The baby sat there on Rem’ori’s chest proudly showing all that he had captured the man. You will have many chances to paint us all. Possibly even together. But first, Rem’orimine you must feed your Zailorth. I am tired and hungry. And the dragonet flopped dramatically across his chest.

Other:

DRAGON - - - -
Name: Zailorth
Personality Zailorth is proud of what he is. Not the bronze bit, that was a fluke for all he cares, but of the dragon bit. That is what matters. And what a dragon he is! At least according to him. Zailorth isn’t afraid to share that greatness with others either. He is outgoing and ready to engage all of Pern, even if he hasn’t fully realized not all of Pern might want him. Zailorth is the best dragon… to ever be named Zailorth. He has to be precise because he knows there are other great dragons out there, but he is one of those greats.

Perhaps he has to be precise a little more then normal. He is a bit pedantic. More than a bit really. He chooses his words with care and would be terribly chagrined if he ever used one incorrectly. He also has a sense of humor and generally agreeable so doesn’t take offense when others might snap at him about his correcting them.

That sense of humor leads to a perpetual air of being amused with the world. Life is full of little oddities and other such nonsenses that are just so interesting. Zailorth can come off as frivolous, partly because, while he can take (some) things seriously, it is always with an air of tolerance and humoring the other person. He maintains he just doesn’t get as upset about things as others. Still, he really is frivolous and prone to being self-indulgent.

He can be quite generous and magnanimous, forgiving insults and injuries easily. He will share what he has with others freely. All a being has to do is tell Zailorth that they need something and, if he has it, he will share.

Egg Size: Large
Adult Size: 45’
Physical Attributes: Zailorth may be large, but he is an elegant large. Nothing squat or square about him. Just all long flowing lines and delicate curves. He almost looks as if he would break if dropped.
Additional Notes: Zailorth is a true love sort of dragon. He wants that for himself and his rider. And he will try to matchmake for his rider when it seems that the man is not doing a good job on his own.

Why Me: For a dragon that is the best at being Zailorth only a man that knows he is the best at being himself would do. Rem’ori is that one. Zailorth needs someone that won’t be lost in that ego and can meet him stride for stride in taking on the world. The fact that Rem’ori pokes and prods people can be smoothed over by Zailorth. Though Zailorth will have to be careful that the same behaviors don’t exasperate his pedantic nature. Together the pair will temper the rough edges of each other and be a powerhouse of a pair. Either that, or an unholy terror.

A Golden Opportunity!

Name: Sorentia
Age: 23
Nameday: 3553.04.28
Sex: Female
Sexual Orientation: Pansexual
Craft: N/A
Rank: Weyrbrat
Location: Western Weyr
Physical Description:
Personality: Sorentia is a sweet lady who is kind and full of life. She enjoys making other people feel good and wants to create a positive interaction for all that she meets. It can be difficult for her to be sure that she is being kind enough, pleasant enough, or gentle enough as she is rather insecure. So she will over do the sweetness in her worry and put aside her own cares for others. She worries about whether people like her, if she is good enough, and if she will ever amount to anything. Sorentia keeps these worries to herself because she doesn’t want to worry anyone and truthfully isn’t sure that others want to know.

Lively when feeling good, she can be quite vivacious and engaging. She can be animated and spirited in her interactions and truly enjoys being with other people. Sorentia is a social creature who thrives on positive interactions but wilts at a harsh word. She will sacrifice her own needs for those around her both in an effort to truly help and in the hope that they will like her more. It isn’t to be manipulative, she just thinks that this is how to make or keep friends.

Sorentia is very family oriented with a broad definition of family. Family isn’t just those that are related but those that are close. These people are important to Sorentia and she loves to spend time with them. It is important to her to visit and interact with them frequently. They are deeply cared for. However she can also be very possessive over her family. These are the people that she feels safe with and does not want them to go away. When others start to become close to the family members, she will react possessively and want to keep them to herself out of fear. She is conflicted because she loves them and wants them to be happy but wants them to stay with her too.

Positive Trait List Sweet, Vivacious, Familial
Negative Trait List Possessive, Insecure, self sacrificing
History: Sorentia entered the world without much fanfare. She was born just like every other baby is born to two people. She was lucky enough to have loving parents that doted on her as a baby. When she was three she gained a little brother and at 5 another. Sorentia loved the children dearly and in turn doted on them, taking over many of the child rearing activities to help her parents.

Growing up at Western Weyr was a blur of chores and games for Sorentia. Before she knew it she was old enough to stand and begin candidate training. She was attentive to her studies and, with only a few mishaps, able to maneuver through Hatchings with grace and ease. Those mishaps are some of her greatest regrets. The idea that she could have harmed a dragonet even a little in her clumsiness or thoughtlessness troubles her still.

When Thread returned, Sorentia worried that she would not be good enough to fight it. Would the dragons that she had such secret hopes for now see her as too weak? Still she kept standing, determined to be there if ever a dragon wanted her. She even went to High Reaches Weyr on candidate swaps for that reason despite the fact that leaving her family behind both scared and troubled her.

Almost a decade after the first time she stood, she was still standing in what she truly hoped was not a vain hope. Esurienth’s latest clutch was finally hatching and it was as exciting as ever. Sorentia laughed as the gold approached a boy and looked him over, wondering what the Gold was telling him, if anything. She delighted in the Gold’s movements and grace but also was sure that such a lovely creature was not for her. And she thought that was confirmed as the gold continued to inspect other candidates, though not pausing at any others.

Sorentia had turned her attention to the remaining hatchlings and did not notice the Gold’s approach from behind. Do not be silly. She heard in her head as a nose pushed into the back of her legs. Surprised Sorentia spun around and lost her balance, falling in a graceless heap on the sand. You are quite the perfect person for one such as your Riamsoth, Sorentiamine. And rainbow eyes gazed down at Sorentia. For her part, Sorentia gazed back in shock for a beat before a large grin formed on her face.

Other: <3

DRAGON - - - -
Name: Riamsoth
Personality With ever a kind word, even when her own judgements are rearing up, Riamsoth is gentle and considerate of others. It isn’t calculated or contrived. She genuinely believes in being courteous. It isn’t a regal gentleness as in so many golds, but a whimsical one. Riamsoth is playful and delights in extravagance, both in movement and speech. She is eloquent in her speech and is precise about what she says. Sometimes her speech gains a little flourish and formal tone as her whimsy comes through.

For all her kindness and whimsy, Riamsoth is a strong creature who knows her own mind and is willing to speak out about it. She believes in all being kind to others and will not stand for rudeness. She will cut another with her words if she deems the need necessary. Her judgmental attitude is one she fights with at times with mixed results. Riamsoth will have opinions on everything after all. She is a perfectionist who needs to be right. She drives herself and her rider hard to be the best and expects it of others as well.

Egg Size: Medium
Adult Size: 49’
Physical Attributes: Much to Riamsoth’s dismay, her tail grew out to be long for her body and legs.
Additional Notes: She demands perfection in the chasers of her flight and will choose based on who performs the best that day despite any love interest she might have.

Why Me: The sweet nature of Sorentia was the first thing to draw Riamsoth in but she stayed for the rest. In Sorentia, Riamsoth sees such potential that just needs a little guidance and love. In many ways they are similar but Riamsoth will be able to help sooth those insecurities and ease the self sacrificing behavior. While Sorentia will help mitigate the judgements and need to correct others.

A Golden Opportunity!

Name: Zaexillia
Age: 16
Nameday: 3560.02.27
Sex: Female
Sexual Orientation: Unconcerned currently
Craft: Healercraft
Rank: Candidate, apprentice healer (pediatric specialisation)
Location: Western Weyr

Physical Description:
Sharing her brother's eye-catching mop of carrot-coloured hair, Zae is a picture of ephemeral sweetness, ginger curls tumbling past her shoulders to brush her hips, full, pouting lips drawn into a ghostly smile, crystalline blue eyes conveying just the slightest hint of melancholy within. She is the type of woman to hide, with a fringe covering her face, her hair layered to conceal high and round cheekbones, the well-loved, patched clothes overlarge for her slender frame. She has a slight tendency to slouch and fade into the background, preferring to be left to her work. She is an unimposing sight at 5'3.

Her wardrobe usually includes shades of blue, with the occasional hint of blushing pink. She has a fondness for flowers, which she might be found weaving into her hair on warm spring days. She likes boots over sandals, and always remembers to carry a small roll of bandages in her belt pouch, should something go wrong- Zae is a woman who prizes practical thinking.

Personality:
A gentle young lady with good intentions and a sharp mind, Zae takes the welfare of others very seriously, often to the detriment of her own. She is a meticulous individual who has ambitions of rising up in the ranks of her Craft- if she cannot follow in her family's footsteps and become a dragonrider. Surprisingly mature for a woman of such tender Turns, Zae nonetheless possesses a moody, melancholic side hidden beneath a veneer of focused compassion and professionalism.

Zaexillia is, at her core, very loving and innocent. She believes, very strongly, that everybody deserves love and a second chance. She is a young girl filled with hope and dreams of better days, that slight aura of melancholy tinged with wistfulness. She won't share her dreams with others- they are private, secrets of the heart that she cannot entrust to anyone. She is terrified of those close to her leaving- whether willingly or not, and has closed off her emotional side to save herself from pain.

A realist, she buries her daydreaming tendencies along with the tragedy of Fall, which she longs to forget. She lives and works for the now, which is why she is tireless when it comes to her craft: Zae will work herself to the bone, through the worst of her own ailments, just to ensure nobody else has to suffer. Though shy and quiet around adults, Zaexillia can very easily form wonderful working relationships with children: those who observe her in the infirmary may be quick to note her nurturing, compassionate core.

Zaexillia forgets to stop and breathe, so wrapped up in avoiding her own pain and reality that she has come to deny herself. This has created some self-destructive habits, such as the tendency to lie (read: vehemently protest) when asked about her well-being, or to push herself beyond her physical limits. She has also become emotionally incapable of opening up to others, and will shy away from demonstrations of feelings. She knows her heart beats to its own rhythm and tune, but she has learnt to ignore it, suppress it even, and has lost touch of what it is /she/ truly wants. Slowly but surely, Zae has let work become everything that she is, and she'll find herself putting on masks to satisfy those close to her. She thinks she knows who they expect to see when they look at her- but being that person… That girl seems so far away to her now. Zae isn't even sure she misses her- content to work and help others as she can.

In terms of anger, Zae is the type to turn quiet and brooding, rather than explode. She went through a phase of enjoying petty vengeance, but even the appeal of a good prank has lost its luster. She is somewhat straight-edged, and likely to report other troublemakers if they plot within earshot. She has no fear of judgement, and cares very little for opinions or gossip. They weigh so very little in the back of her mind, and the end result is always that she thinks less of the originator.

She treasures her family very dearly- especially her brother Ansirien and her grandfather F'gon. Though still reluctant to share her concerns with them, she'll always be there should they ask her- time with family is invaluable. Zae has voiced her desires to be either a healer or a dragonrider to them, and was grateful to find acceptance (however grudging it might have been). Determination has always been a strong suit of this young woman, so she has chased her goals with tenacity and grit. If not one, then the other… She can't give up… Not ever.

Positive Trait List: Compassionate - Ambitious - Methodical
Negative Trait List: Self-destructive - Shy - Melancholic

History:
Born second of two, Zae's early life was idyllic. She had a large family, including a much beloved older brother to whom she looked up, and a grandfather who was one of the cool ones, not the old phogy-types who didn't let young brats play on their dragons. Zae was besotted with dragons from a tender age, and the sight of Farvath, as well as her own mother's dragon, were enough to fuel Turns of daydreams.

She did well in classes- the Harpers noted her brightness, her enthusiasm to learn, and so she was gently pushed towards a Craft. Truly, all Zae wanted was so Stand- but that would have to wait until she was fourteen.

Her brother Ansirien was two Turns older than her, and got a headstart. He did not Impress at his first clutch, and Zae wholeheartedly believed it would only be a matter of time before he did. Of course he was going to- any dragon would be lucky to have him! Zae decided to apprentice to the healercraft in the meantime, desperate to make herself useful to her home before her turn came to Stand before the dragons.

And yet, tragedy befell the family once more. In her thirteenth Turn, Thread fell once more, devastating Hold and Weyr. Zae's mother and her dragon were amongst the casualties, and suddenly she and Ansirien were orphans. F'gon took them in, and Zae knew, when she looked at him, that his heart ached and cried as badly as hers did. She bowed her head, closed her mouth, and threw herself into her work.

Where once a sunny and energetic child had been now stood a young woman aged by tragedy, more reserved and withdrawn. She knew she was not the only one to be touched by this senseless destruction, so she put aside her own pain to help those less fortunate. She felt a deep connection to the youngsters who had no family at all, and knew from that moment on she wished to work with children, if her dragon never broke the shell.

At fourteen, she accepted her right to Stand. She was afraid of her grandfather's opinion, but he mercifully kept his judgement to himself. She knew Ansirien was afraid- but she didn't know how to reach out to him… She was hardly strong enough to stop herself from crying- how on Pern was she going to help him? She found herself feeling disconnected from her beloved family, despite holding a deep desire to nurture and care for them. The more she fought to ignore her feelings and bottle her grief, the less she felt overall- each day drifting in and out of existence as she went between the infirmary and the hatching sands in a blur of banal routine.

It was not the first clutch. Those lucky few who never had to wait more than once… Zae wondered what their lives were like. She wasn't resentful, or bitter- just quiet. Alone. Some believed that she was thoughtful, or pensive. Those who hadn't known her as a child mistook her for being stupid. But in candidacy, she followed the rules to the letter, never willing to shame herself or her family, looking down on those who thought of rules as guidelines or inapplicable to themselves. She wasn't good at making friends anymore.

She was glad when Ansirien returned to candidacy, and stuck by his side when possible. Her smile was most commonly seen around him, but there was still a melancholy hint in her eyes. She knew patience and hope were necessary ingredients for Impression, but despair had a nefarious way of digging its claws into her heart.

In her sixteenth Turn, things changed. It was a clutch much like any other, between Phylideth and Esurienth, and Zae presented herself along with the other candidates. She watched as fighting broke out amongst the dragonets, wincing as humans became involved. That urge to offer bandages surfaced, and she had to control herself to stop her feet from moving forwards… it was unwise to interfere in dragonets' business.

As a blue ran to find his rider, another dragonet stepped forth; Zaexillia hadn't noticed the young queen at first, caught up in her healer's instincts, but she watched as the proud creature pranced up to a young man… Well now… That would be quite unusual.

Only, she turned away from him moments later. A voice as striking as steel but as soft as sunlight flittered through her mind, and Zae started. You did not come because you thought you were unwelcome? Well, you will always be welcome beside your Shiirath. Come and join me, ZaeMine. I require feeding and oiling. She paused as she glanced around the sands, before turning rainbow eyes back to the young woman, And my clutchmates /very/ clearly need our supervision.

Zae stumbled forwards as the young queen- Shiirath, she realised, lifted her head to the crowd and bugled in triumph. Yes… Zae belonged to her, and the dragonet to the young woman. This was their new life now. The rush of warm love and elation filled the parts of her she had neglected, and a trickle of tears broke past the cracks in her mask. One step at a time, she closed the distance between them, before wrapping her new-found partner in a tight embrace.

My dearest Zae… It's okay to cry. I promise I won't ever leave you.

And for the first time in a long time, Zaexillia believed that promise.

DRAGON - - - -

Name: Shiirath

Personality
Straight from the shell, this glorious dragon will know exactly who she is and her place in the world: she is a queen, to be revered and respected by her kin. So self-assured is she that she whole-heartedly believes everyone shares her point of view; unsurprisingly, she is extremely dismayed when she discovers they do not.

Shiirath is a powerful and fiery creature with a mercurial, tempestuous temperament. She does not like to be crossed or wronged in any way, and has a very rigid idea of how the world should run (with her at the top, naturally). It will take a lot of time for her to learn that, no, she cannot just decide how things should just go based on her whims- and that others have thoughts and feelings and deserve respect, kindness and fair treatment as well. Her rider must endeavour to teach her dragon compassion, lest Shiirath become a bully.

Her instincts may tend towards the domineering, and Shiirath has absolutely no qualms trampling anything or anyone that gets in her way. She has no tact, and her bluntness will no doubt land her in sticky situations. She would be better suited to a more traditional Weyr, but would never abandon Western, which she perceives as ‘needing her guidance’. She expects obedience from her clutchmates, and will often, as a hatchling, get into arguments about the worth of different dragons. Headstrong and hot-headed to the point of explosiveness, Shiirath will need a tight leash as a young dragon until she learns how to better temper herself and her judgement.

Despite this, Shiirath can be a blast to be around- provided she’s in charge, of course. She’s the sort of dragon to throw herself into adventures head-first- from cannon-balling off papa’s back into the lake, or swimming in the sea to find those deep-sea creatures; nothing is off-limits for her (even though there are rules- they apply to other folks, not her). She is the type to persuade, cajole, dare or entice others into following her lead in these hijinks- stepping into the role of ringleader. She can be light-hearted and jovial, and enjoys getting to know others.

She is a showy creature, knowing how to walk the walk and talk the talk to draw attention to herself- which is exactly how she likes the world to work, thank you. She will grow up to become a heartbreaker, knowing full-well males (and why, maybe even females) will fall over themselves for her attention and favour. Courting and mating? Bah. Her suitors had better sharding work hard for the privilege of becoming her consort. Flights will become calculated dances between remembering the little favours and boons they have done for her, all the while balancing her inner desires and lust. Shiirath will eventually have a few favourites- those who have proven themselves worthy of her time and attention; but settling down will be a tough feat indeed.

This dragon is no wilting flower: Shiirath is utterly unafraid of expressing her feelings. Shiirath knows who she is, and has a vision of how she should be when she grows up (regal and beautiful, by the way- in case you were wondering). She has a commanding presence and knows how to flaunt it in her movements and demeanour- the sooner she learns that traditional colour hierarchy has no place at Western, the better it will be for everyone, including herself.

There is a softness to her, as well- for she is filled with affection and love to those who have endeared themselves to her. Shiirath will be maternal and protective once she clutches, and her judgements will certainly lighten towards her children. She is not a cruel creature intentionally, and will genuinely desire draconic company. More than anything else, Shiirath must take care not to alienate her peers with her attitude, and learn how to apologise with humility and sincerity.

Positive Trait List: Demonstrative - Fun-loving - Self-assured
Negative Trait List: Impatient - Domineering - Tempestuous

Egg Size: Medium

Adult Size: 49'

Physical Attributes:
Though tending towards the larger size of the scale, Shiirath is a well-proportioned queen, and has the potential for great endurance and strength. Her build is broad and muscular, with powerful wings. She will lack grace as a hatchling, which she will cover up with overly extravagant and calculated movements to showcase just how amazing and wonderful she is. Shiirath will become frustrated when her body won't perform to her high standards and ideals; a sign of her growing temper is the agitated flickering of her long tail.

Additional Notes:
A fickle lover, Shiirath's attentions are won or earned, not freely given. She expects others to fawn over her because of her colour, and it will take her some time to adjust to Western's more liberal thinking when it comes to colourism. Whilst she is a powerful and pushy creature, Shiirath is loyal to her home, and will not forsake Western. Those she calls friends will find her magnanimous and devoted to them.

Why Me:
They say misery loves company, and this is a companion who is larger than life: no longer will Zae feel alone and isolated, unable to process who she is because of her grief-driven need to bottle everything up- Shiirath will drag the emotions out of her, kicking and screaming. No longer must Zae suffer in silence, Shiirath will tell her: you are allowed to feel and think and express your emotions to the world. You have a right to stand proud and tall and cry, if you'd like- there is no need to bottle up those tears anymore! Let the feelings flow through you, and become stronger for them, allow your wounds to heal, whilst each fragment of self reconnects to form a whole.

For Shiirath saw in the young woman selfless warmth and love, and wondered why she had stopped her heart from beating freely. She saw the lock and chains binding her spirit away, and knew in her own hearts that, together, they could break free and become something better than their individual parts. Shiirath saw Zae for her fragility, was mystified by it, and then admired her for it- because even when the girl felt like weeping, she simply straightened her shoulders and carried on with her duty.

At first, their bond will be a turbulent one as Zaexillia adjusts to Shiirath’s extraversion. This dragon is ready, no, born to stand in the spotlight, and intends to force her rider to stand beside her. Zae will need to use her maturity to keep Shiirath from overpowering others with her will- and the struggle will show early on. They are both tenacious and wilful ladies deep down, and the contest of mental power will be arduous.

Zaexillia is the perfect woman for the job of teaching Shiirath some manners: she cares so genuinely for the welfare of others that Shiirath will be caught off-guard on a regular basis, questioning her normal. As a vainglorious creature, Shiirath will need her rider's deeply-seated, altruistic kindness in order to relax her own need for control and learn how to understand the feelings of others. Once the dragon comprehends that more respect can be earned by being supportive, Shiirath’s mercurial moods will become quite tempered, and she will be less inclined to mould things/others to her liking. In fact, the seed of altruism might even spread to the dragon, who will endeavour to do her best in later life, especially during Fall, to support her wingmates and the overall Wings. With Zae’s unwavering dedication to work and her innate compassion, Shiirath will go from being a self-absorbed queen to a dragon with a vision of protecting others from harm.

In turn, Zae needs Shiirath’s unfailing self-assurance and pride to remind herself that she, too, is worthy of attention, support and love. This dragon will remind her that there is no reason to run from others. Her love of fun and adventure will breathe new life into the young woman, made old before her time, and reinforce a lesson that Zae hasn’t yet been able to accept: life is full of many things, including death.

Chromatics For Life!

Name: Ralnaf
Age: 21
Nameday: 3555.1 - Does not know day
Sex: Male
Sexual Orientation: Humans (Not always one at a time)
Craft: Fisher Craft (Ship Builder)
Rank: Apprentice
Location: Western Weyr
Physical Description: Tall, wraith thin, and made of what seems to be water itself(Something comical for a man that can only float), Ralnaf is certainly more a liquid than a human being. Despite standing above many at 6'5", he has a terrible tendency to stand hunched or squatted down in an almost predatory feline manner, always watching the world around him through darkly painted gray eyes. Maybe in an effort to spook those around him, maybe to hide his real face from the world, his face is almost always painted in some manner. Sometimes just the eyes, sometimes a skull covers his face, other times only half his face. This mixed with his dark and wild hair that fluctuates between shortly spiked and crazy grown out and unkempt gives Ralnaf a look that makes it hard for others to take him seriously.

That's their mistake. But his hyena style laugh and wicked grin don’t really help either.
Personality: Curiously intelligent and always willing to learn as much as he can to understand the world around him, Ralnaf views the world as a place that can always teach him more. At one time it used to make him a better ship builder, always learning new things and adapting to what the needs would be. It's his attentiveness to details and the little things that happen all around him that that helps him to learn so quickly. With eyes full of wonder and curiosity he watches everything and does morph it into something constructive with his time. Most anything that he's seen can turn into an intricate design on a boat or a piece of wood to whittle since coming to the Weyr and he’s nothing if not proud of his creations and work. His curiosity and intelligence tend to lead him towards being a bit compulsive about reaching out to the world around him, especially when it's a brand new encounter. If he wants it, Ralnaf'll reach for it, if it intrigues him he'll take part or watch with interest to learn how it works. These tendencies can get him in trouble with others, as he generally uses that compulsive behavior in a trickster manner to spook or startle others about him.

With all of his eccentricities, from his behavior to the way that he moves in an almost feline manner, others tend to give him a wide berth which could be why he began his trickster habits in the first place. They hide his temper and the anger that simmers beneath it from view, for it doesn’t take much to flare the flames of his fury, anyone speaking or acting out against family or friends will meet the cynic within him for Ralnaf trusts no one so much as those closest to him. He’s borne witness to people’s worst sides and only allows a select few close to him, those few will be given every speck of loyalty in his heart though, for to the gangly man they’re an extension of his family. As such he would do whatever it took to protect them and his home, though over the turns ‘home’ has changed quite a bit, he’s quite fluid with his ideas of it.

Positive Trait List Intelligent, Attentive, Joyful, Loyal, Proud
Negative Trait List Compulsive behavior, Cynical, Quickly angered, Trickster, Eccentric
History: “Pirates” is a strong word that Ralnaf’s parents and older siblings were never incredibly fond of. The whole ship full of them would often argue that they were perfectly law abiding traders whose papers were simply… well lost overboard? All the time. It was into this family and on the first ship of his life that Ralnaf cut his teeth and fell in love with all things water and wood. For the first few turns he simply waddled around the deck of the ship, watching his family, doing what they told him to do even if it was begrudging and all those that checked the ‘validity’ of cargo and such were viewed with cautious eyes that learned the way of the world quicker than they would have on the land, for certain. While it didn’t seem that he would have any other sort of life, even as he grew into his pre-teens, it was one of his older sisters that noticed his skill with woodcraft and made a suggestion that would change his life at the next port.

Tillek.

His parents couldn’t have chosen a more restrictive hold to drop their playful and tricky son at, but in his sister’s eyes he was going to make a fantastic ship builder and somehow his parents agreed despite his arguments. It would be the last time he saw their ship or any of them, though to date Ralnaf has vowed to find all of them again, not believing them to be fully gone since there were no better sailors or rivermen than his family. At least in his not so humble opinion. With the agreement of the Fishercraft hall, he was bundled into his lessons and life seemed to spring anew with the first bit of wood that they sat in front of him. It all started there, with the intricate cuts that he made, the twisting designs. However designs and whittling have very little to do with ship building and the real work started on the heels of his pride finally rushing through him.

Apprenticeship was never a cake-walk but the speed at which the increasingly scruffy and tall teen learned to make boats and ships was nothing short of impressive to his masters and the Journeyman that taught him. Over the course of his time as an apprentice, Ralnaf made many boats and ships that went on to sail both river and sea, some even outlasting him as boats used to train new rivermen. For despite his skill with shipbuilding, a new opportunity that even the man obsessed with ships and wood couldn’t turn down.

A man on a bright blue dragon swooped into Tillek and changed everything, offering the ultimate chance, the opportunity to ride on the back of a dragon. Only just dipping his toes into his twenties, he figured that he could return should he fail to make an Impression on any sort of dragon, for who might want a wild creature like himself?, Ralnaf agreed.

Little did he know what he might be getting himself into with the rules and changes in the nature of his everyday schedule. Ralnaf went from crafting boats and ships with wild abandon, or as much as Tillek would allow him, and about faced to mopping and sweeping and cleaning and caring for others, things he hadn’t done since he was young. While he accepted this as the way of his life now, the thing he’d chosen and walked into, he kept his eyes open and wide to learn from it with no expectations for what might happen. He was a teen after all, at the time.

Those days spent doing what chores he had and what lessons he needed to learn, a vast variety that he certainly hadn’t expected but wouldn’t look down on by any means, taught him more than he expected and he soaked it up. Each time he stood on the sands he learned a little more from mistakes and scars earned during those times, both at Western Weyr and High Reaches Weyr. It wasn’t until his twenty first turn that Ralnaf got a surprise on the sands at Western when an explosive little brown burst from his egg and zipped around the candidates on the sand, hoping to meet them all, hoping to see each face. It was his introduction to the world after all, or so he told Ralnaf the moment he could when he sat before him and trilled up a song that brought on rainbows to his eyes. A mischievous smile crossed Ralnaf’s face.

“Welcome to Pern, Nizaruth.”
Other: Anything else you want to add?

DRAGON - - - -
Name: Nizaruth
Personality From his eyes to his body language to the positions he takes, Nizaruth is a giant flying rainbow of emotions, not all of them so good. He can be a brimming ball of happiness and joy but when something vexes him he’ll twist into a frustrating storm of anger. This will be something His will need to work on him with, for emotions could get him into trouble or betray his true thoughts. Not that he hides them from anyone unless his rider asks him to, Nizaruth sees no need or reason to, what has the brown got to hide after all? Not a thing. He’s a brave dragon with courage that oozes from him, if he sees something wrong he’ll do all he can to fix it, to help those that need him. If one would need him to stand up to someone or something he’s there in the beat of his two hearts and he’ll never let them see how frightened or hurt he may be in the process of the fallout.

For he can be hurt, but the only one he’ll allow to see his bruises and pains are his rider, the only one that knows him from head to tail and he’ll hide all his insecurities and pains within their bond. Admittedly they are few, but the sensitive sides of him can be wounded with actions and words for brief times, only to be seemingly burned away by his immense energy. Nizaruth can go and go and go and never stop, he’ll find energy in the tip of a claw to keep himself going long after others around him have quit. While he might need held back a little as his energy can go claw in claw with his emotions, generally he does his best to not bowl others over with it. Which if anyone is honest, is never quite enough of an effort.
Egg Size: Large
Adult Size: 31’
Physical Attributes: On the slight side both length and muscle wise for a brown, Nizaruth is slim and delicate looking with big wings. His head knobs are bowed inward as if they might touch one another and his feet are a bit bigger than average compared to the rest of him, which makes him look a bit awkward but in the air his flexibility and flying almost make up for it all.
Additional Notes: Nizaruth wiggles himself around with excitement in an almost canine manner. His expressive movements can give away any of his emotions nearly as much as his eyes and he hides nothing for the sake of others.

Ladies might rise all around him but he won’t be interested in chasing or catching unless there’s an emotional aspect to his doing so, a connection. Only certain greens might stir his hearts and only then he might pursue for hope of catching a lady who holds a spot in his hearts. Golds… well he can curl up in their shadows and the best that might happen is he looks at them as a mother.

Why Me: Ralnaf! Why’re you so cynical about everything!? Well Nizaruth has a way to counterbalance that cynicism with an overwhelming dose of love and adoration, a dose so heavy that it might actually turn the former ship builder’s personality for the better. At least until he gets angry. In fact these two will get along like a house on fire in every way, Nizaruth’s open hearts and sensitive soul are in perfect hands with the attentiveness and loyal love that Ralnaf will bring to him, for he’ll see the downswing before it happens and notice the moment his bonded is beginning to hurt. Certainly their less desirable attributes might combine together in some ways, but if they don’t get them killed they’ll make them stronger and more experienced as they both learn to overcome their faults together by balancing each other out.

Would you be open to winning a different color dragon if this concept does not win the preferred brown? Yes

A Golden Opportunity!

Name: Suyua
Age: 16
Nameday: 3560.2.12
Sex: Female
Sexual Orientation: Hmmmmm…...
Craft: Apprentice Dolphin Handler
Rank: Candidate
Location: Western Weyr (Was part of candidate swap)
Physical Description:Despite being rather short, Suyua has hands and feet that seem to be just a bit too large for her and a generally stooped posture despite herself. She can stand up straighter when she desires to, but generally this and the way she keeps her arms in closer to her body than usual people give her an odd look. Near black eyes peer deadpan-like out of a broad face with a wide mouth prone to smiling, her long jet black hair almost always has a green-ish sheen to it thanks to dye, and her expression only changes should she be in danger or inner turmoil.

Preferring more movement friendly clothing, she opts for anything that will keep her warm as she despises the cold, but also has something swim worthy on beneath it at all times. For one just never knows, even so far away from the dolphins she was training with, when they might need to get wet.
Personality: “Someday that mouth of hers will get her in trouble.” This was not something her father said often because she was crude in any way, but because Suyua’s bluntness often has her sticking her foot square into her wide mouth. It isn’t that she intends to cause others harm or make them angry, just that she’ll point out the most obvious thing and it doesn't help that she’s very good at catching on in situations where others might hold something back. No, she figures these things out quickly and has no shame in pointing them out. It might come as a foul side to how straightforward she is, never being one to hide anything about herself or anything in her life, but she holds nothing as a secret. It makes life a little less complicated that way and a bit easier for her to navigate. Ask her a question, she’ll answer it in the most honest way possible, even if it hurts your feelings in the process.

In fact should someone be doing something foolish or that breaks a rule in any way, she doesn’t hesitate in being harsh. Even for harshness sake, she’ll all but slap someone in the face with her words should she think they need it, heedless in the moment of how it might hurt their feelings or change their opinion of her. Of course she’s not doing it to be cruel, in fact in her own way it’s to try and help them most often, even if the person in question doesn’t feel it at the time and this causes her some guilt afterwards to be certain. She does have regret in spades should she hurt a friend or loved one, for all she wants to do is support them and make them their best self. Lifting others up is what she does best in life most often, helping by being an extra set of hands or in lessons with something she might have known she’ll do her best to teach it. She’s always looking for a way to help others even if it’s just with a kind word where they need it, despite her bluntness she can actually be sweet when needed.

It’s the turns of maturity she developed by taking care of her siblings and helping the creche workers in her Hold that made her this way. Suyua experienced it first hand and grew from there, always balancing her own responsibilities with the care of her siblings and managing to keep the two divided so that they didn’t conflict or interfere with one another very often. This helped her develop into the well adjusted teenager bordering on adult that she was even before she hit her teens. It made for a bit of a lonely existence though, balancing the two like an act so well left her little time for her own needs and desires, which seemed to center the most on friendships and contacts. Naturally she sought to remedy this but it only made her a little more lonely when she realized that some of it fell back onto her own shoulders, why others might not want to be friends with her.

Quirks become her and she seems to be made of them. From her posture and expression to the odd way she answers in one word responses that seem to have nothing to do with the conversation, to her obsessive love of water and rain, Suyua is a strange person certainly. When excited she’ll hop a bit in place and when talking her fingers tend to be near her mouth, this can also happen when she’s pondering an answer or riddle. This has a habit of pushing others away from her since they view her as an oddball. Despite these strange quirks and any harshness she might snap towards others, the teen truly is as laid back as they come. Nothing seems to break her personal calm very often and she certainly knows how to kick back when the situation calls for it, even if her eyes are wide open in case someone should need help.

Positive Trait List Straightforward, Laid Back, Mature, Supportive
Negative Trait List Blunt, Harsh, Lonely, Quirky

History: Eldest born daughter of two fisherman, Suyua would wait six turns before she’d ever see a sibling and this while on and off at the creche thanks to her parents crafts making them a bit absent. No one wants a baby on a ship at sea after all! Or at least her’s didn’t. She wasn’t at all fussed by this upbringing and by the time her third sibling came along she was watching them actively by herself, even taking it upon herself to cook for them after watching the crecheworkers cook for turns while she was there. Suyua wanted to help and with the effort she could put forth, she was able to do so to an extent. With her diligence and attention towards her siblings and what she was doing to learn and help the crecheworkers, she didn’t tend to think of very much else or give herself the time to become friends with anyone. Even among the other children of the creche she didn’t give herself the opportunity to get that close, to form any of those connections and once she was old enough to realize, it became apparent that it was far too late to rectify.

Though lonely, Suyua continued on with life, did the best that she could and made an impression on the workers and holders around her, even if she didn’t have friends, she had those she could talk to. At the time it made all the difference. However it also affected what happened when the time came for her to choose where she would go herself. Having no desire to be a crecheworker herself, it was indeed her parents that suggested the course that she would begin walking and they themselves that helped her get there.

To a totally different continent even.

Rubicon River Hold on the Southern Continent welcomed her with open arms into the Dolphineer Craft and it felt as though she was officially coming home. While she loved her family and missed them deeply Suyua dove into her apprenticeship head first and even things about her personality began to change, her habits. Every day she would wear clothing fit for swimming under her outer clothing, ready to hop in the water any second for any job that someone might need her for. The dolphins were lovely and gave her something new to focus on as she navigated her training and for once began to come out of her shell, just a tad, to try and make her first friend.

One girl that seemed to have lived a life similar to her own, work and duty before friendship, struck it up with Suyua and they became fast friends, even if it was all too brief an experiment for both of them. The girl was Searched by a Weyr and suddenly Suyua was once again without a friend and her nerves a bit frayed from the abruptness of her first friend’s departure, maybe that was why it was such an overwhelming event when she herself was suddenly Searched as well. After having just gotten used to the Hold she was in and the apprenticeship she had chosen, with some help, the teen wasn’t sure she would even make a good Candidate and nearly declined the offer entirely. A kind journeyman pulled her aside to talk to her before she could answer and informed her of the opportunity and chance she was about to turn down, of the chances that she might be missing. Thread had returned after all and Pern needed riders.

The hard worker within her couldn’t refuse that and she accepted, whisked away to High Reaches Weyr to study and stand as a Candidate. Back on the Northern Continent once more after being on the Southern for a number of turns left the teen bundled up quite tight and looking at her options. While she respected the Weyr that searched her she couldn’t help but sign up for the swap that they and Western Weyr offered between one another, which was where she found her match after a turn. On warm sands on a continent she’d never spent more than a few hours on every once in a while, Suyua met Her, the only Her that would ever matter so fully. It seemed like a dream as one mind melded with another. A dream she quickly learned that her perfect other half lived in often.

Oh dearest SuyuaMine, the world is a dream that we will walk together through. You need never be lonely again. Ebrillath had taken moments to assess other candidates first but her choice had always been clear, she’d merely been checking to see who it was her siblings might choose. A self confidence washed over Suyua as the queen looked up at her with calm rainbow filled eyes. Shall we go check in with my clutchmates, see who we might meet and what friends we can find you?

“And what food we can get you.” Suyua added dutifully, doing her very best to pick up her sweet gold dragon, barely registering the color of her newly bonded partner for her beautiful personality.
Other: Anything else you want to add?

DRAGON - - - -
Name: Ebrillath
Personality Life is a dream for Ebrillath and all those around her, if ever a dragon were to seemingly wear a set of rose-colored glasses it would be this gold, at least that’s what face value would tell you. She is dreamy for certain and very easily distracted if she considers whatever is happening to be boring or unworthy of her full attention, however her perception for the emotions of others and the environment around her tends to be very high. It’s just that she isn’t interested in certain things and wants to see the absolute best of the world at all times, even if she has to do her best to help the world be it’s best. Ebrillath thinks that Pern deserves it after all and wants those around her to be relaxed and calm; even though she’s been born at a time when Thread falls from it’s skies this gold is serene and gentle, a calming voice for those that need it. Nothing seems to faze her or rattle that calm that she keeps short of insulting her rider or those she loves. Even under extreme danger from Thread, or stress from flying she is utterly unflappable and she focuses, when she needs to, to give that to others as well, so they can feel it. Some have described it as being wrapped in an extremely comfortable blanket.

Which might fly in the face of how she interacts and talks with others, holding absolutely nothing back for the sake of others feelings or hearts. Ebrillath will state bluntly whatever is on her mind or whatever it is that she believes without a second thought and she believes quite a bit. This can make others feel a bit uncomfortable around her in the moment but those that come to be close to her will find that whatever she says is never spoken untruly even if it can be curt. This she will never apologize for, in fact she doesn’t apologize for anything when it comes to being who she is, for that’s the one thing she will never make any adjustments to after all. Unapologetic to a fault, she speaks the truth even if it happens to be hard to hear, as she believes it's better to be completely honest than tell even a white lie that might make others feel better about something which may be negative.

Or at least that's her opinion and Ebrillath has quite a few of those that she'll share with others. Opinions that generally won't get her in trouble at least, but that she can be loud about, such as the color of a dragon not being measure of their merit and that dragonriders are still people of Pern and above none. Maybe she may be chastised in the future for her less in line opinions, but she doesn't judge negatively those that are colorist or entitled, she just gently attempts to change their minds or has nothing to do with them. Two things can be true after all and a mind can be changed, even her own, so the gold is nonjudgmental in her dealings with others, believing that everyone and every creature is a living being to be respected. So she will in full and often forgives those that are cruel thanks to their upbringing or life lived, choosing instead to see the good that they have and can build from.

Egg Size: Small
Adult Size: 48’
Physical Attributes: Elegantly sleek and lithe, Ebrillath is a graceful creature that seems to move just like a leaf dancing on the wind, always in action even when it’s . She carries herself with confidence and her movements tend towards prancing with her long legs, however the rest of her is perfectly proportioned and flying will be this gold’s favorite pastime even when not training or working.
Additional Notes: Ebrillath isn't one for attention, in fact having it heaped upon her might even make her balk away, as such flights will be interesting and difficult for her. If she could she'd like to choose one male to catch her and her hearts along with her, until that time comes however, the gold will have a tendency to choose out of interest rather than speed or strength. Biologically she'll want a strong father for her eggs, but why can't they have personality to go with it?

Why Me: In their ability to be uncomfortably straightforward Suyua and Ebrillath are perfectly, of not dangerously, matched. While nothing they may point out or state will be cruel or wicked, the two will need to lean on each other and work together to pick up on things and silence their desire to send others running or hurt their feelings. Luckily this shouldn't be the hardest of their challenges with both being quite perceptive of their surroundings and Ebrillath the balanced one of the two with her serene lack of judgement.

What the gold lacks in attentiveness when bored, her rider will easily make up for with her dedication and hard work, pulling Ebrillath back from her dreamy haze to the training and lessons that will serve to save their lives in the future.

Suyua, for her part, will find that loneliness she felt all but evaporate in her dragon's presence. There are so many on Pern to meet after all and Ebrillath will take her to every corner if she asked, just for the chance to fly and meet new people from all walks of life, in the interest of learning more of course.

A Golden Opportunity!

Name: Eonya
Age: 21 Turns
Nameday: 3555.10.27
Sex: Female
Sexual Orientation: Who has time for that?
Craft: Courtesan
Rank: Apprentice
Location: Western Weyr
Physical Description: Small, thin, and wiry with a mane of dark hair, Eonya is a tough little thing. Don’t let her size fool you: she’s able to hold her own and doesn’t appreciate being underestimated just because of her appearance.

Personality: Eonya is used to stepping up and getting things done, come hell or high water. She’s also used to handling these tasks alone--no, really, please don’t help her. It’ll be faster if she just does it on her own. You’re still going to? Okay… but she’s going to direct you along as you go, whether you need the instructions or not. And if you don’t listen… well, luckily Eonya tends to be a pretty adaptable person. Even if a wrench gets thrown into her plans, she simply adjusts accordingly and continues onward. At her worst, she’ll be exasperated and irritable about it, but Eonya isn’t the sort to hold grudges. Really, as long as someone’s trying their best, what more can she ask for? Despite this, her tongue can be particularly sharp and even her directions can come across as cutting. This hardly endears her to those working alongside her, but she doesn't much mind.

As her courtesan mother is an incredibly large influence in her life, Eonya learned how to put on a charming face from a young age… even if she internally feels like screaming. This poise is incredibly useful when things go awry in her life, particularly where people are involved. Rather than getting truly upset, she can say to herself ‘ah, they’re stupid’, and carry on while feeling better for the explanation. Naturally, she still has comments and suggestions to offer… but she CAN hold her tongue if necessary.

She is entirely unafraid of standing up for herself and any cause she believes in, and can be quite fierce when defending her opinions. Having grown up with three brothers, Eonya doesn’t shy away from more rough-and-tumble ways of settling things either, though she’d have to be really provoked for that to happen. Growing up as her mother’s favorite has bestowed a bounty of self-worth upon Eonya. She is comfortable with herself exactly as she is, and has never had a reason to think otherwise. As confident as she is, she has zero problems telling other people to shape up. Whether or not they listen, well. At the end of the day, she’ll make it work somehow.

Because Eonya is so determined to make sure that work gets done and done well, she is inconsiderate about the feelings of others’. It’s never her intention to deliberately hurt someone with her words, but it happens, and she doesn’t have time to try and coddle them to fix bruised feelings. They’re all adults here, and Eonya has too much on her mind to worry about the little things.

Positive Trait List Diligent, Adaptable, Composed
Negative Trait List Controlling, Sharp-Tongued, Inconsiderate

History: The third child of Roanya and bluerider E’zo, Eonya would be the first and only girl. Though her two larger, rambunctious brothers might have been older, she never once had any problem firmly putting them in her place and appointing herself as the leader of their little crew. With her mother working and her father often busy caring for his dragon, Eonya took it upon herself to help out with her family. She harried her siblings into helping out, or even just to stay out of her way while she took charge and got things done.

Some of her headaches eased when her brother Roanzo left to take on a craft, though with the birth of her baby brother, Eonya still had her hands full. In a few Turns time, Roanya began to teach her daughter what it meant to be a courtesan, and Eonya took to her lessons with interest. Though she could have pursued the craft more feverently, she never became more than an apprentice. This was partially due to the fact that both her older brothers ended up being Searched and taken to Western Weyr. At the time, Eonya was far too young to accompany them, and though she secretly fumed, she understood that there wasn’t much she could do about her age… for now.

Once she was sixteen Turns, Eonya was Searched and brought back to Western as a Candidate. With her oldest brother and father fighting Thread as fully fledged dragonriders, Eonya kept her head down and worked hard for six Turns, standing on the sands and watching young dragons find their perfect lifemates time and time again.

She stood as confidently for Esurienth and Phylideth’s clutch as she had all the others, unafraid of being left alone on the sands. She would find her dragon, no matter how long it took. To be fair, she hadn’t been paying as much attention to the proud queen as perhaps she ought to have. Before she knew it, the young gold was standing squarely in front of her, looking her over with a critical orange eye.

Has someone else caught your attention? There was no mistaking the haughtiness of the little queen’s tone--and, hidden carefully underneath, the hurt. I thought that you of all people would be willing to wait a little while, but perhaps I was mistaken.

“No one’s caught my attention,” Eonya replied, looking the dragon over. “I’ve been waiting for Turns, and I’ll keep waiting for as long as it takes.”

That seemed to be what the queen wanted to hear, and the orange slowly receded into calmer greens. Then your Tuzolth will not keep you waiting any longer. I think my siblings have all made the correct choices, don’t you?

And, unexpected as it might have been, that was the beginning of their lives together.

Other: Anything else you want to add?

DRAGON - - - -
Name: Tuzolth
Personality Some creatures are simply born knowing how things should be, and fortunately for you all, Tuzolth is happy to share her natural gifts! As far as this queen is concerned, she knows what’s best. It has nothing to do with the color of her hide, of course. She can simply see where the pieces should fall and expects her words to be heeded. This means Tuzolth will shove her nose in other people’s business when they’re making choices just to be certain that they are the correct choices. When met with irritation or disapproval, Tuzolth will be completely puzzled and more than a little offended. Excuse her? She’s trying to HELP you! Why aren’t you appreciating her efforts?

Approval is very important to Tuzolth, particularly at a Weyr that might think she’s expecting more than others due to her color. She certainly doesn’t expect to be handed anything--but will stricter limitations be put upon her due to her hide? Will her accomplishments be less impressive than those of her chromatic siblings? These are things that she secretly worries about, and if she doesn’t receive approval when she feels it is due, Tuzolth is prone to sulking. It just isn’t fair! She didn’t ask to be hatched gold! This queen is of the biased opinion that she needs to work harder than others to earn fair amounts of approval, and may just work herself into a tizzy over a perceived slight. She will rely heavily on her rider to coax her out of these tantrums, but once Tuzolth has gotten over her sulk, she will buckle down to work even harder than before.

Though she can come across as an overbearing, entitled know-it-all, Tuzolth does deeply care about others. Do they think she would bother to waste her time if she didn’t? She is the sort of dragon to lead the way and try things first before anyone else. She doesn’t mind if she ends up looking foolish or stupid--it just means she has more information to share with others. If a perceived disaster is going to happen, Tuzolth would much rather it strike her rather than anyone else. At the end of the day, Tuzolth will have a hard time respecting authority--not because she’s a queen, but because she thinks she knows best. She truly believes she has important ideas, and oh, why won’t anyone listen?!

Intelligent, Caring, Industrious
Busybody, Sulky, Self-Important

Egg Size: Large
Adult Size: 45’
Physical Attributes: Of middling size for a Queen, Tuzolth is not a graceful or elegant creature to look upon. She is stocky and broad with thick, powerful hindquarters that aid her greatly in becoming airborne. Her endurance is nothing to sneer at, but she moves almost ponderously on the ground.
Additional Notes: Tuzolth wants to be appreciated - and wooing her for a flight may start well before she even starts to glow. Her self-imposed starvation for her dues may yield longer flights that start at impatient hours. If she has a desired suitor who doesn’t chase, she will sulk for days afterwards.

Why Me: If there was ever such a pair ready to get things done, it would be Eonya and Tuzolth! Between Eonya’s tendency to simply step up and take control and Tuzolth pushing her way into others’ business, these two will have to be careful not to alienate their fellows. However, Tuzolth’s genuine desire to help people and gain their approval will help temper Eonya’s inconsideration for others. She will want Hers to be appreciated, and if that means pushing Eonya to watch what she says a little more frequently, well, then that seems like a simple fix!

Eonya’s adaptable nature makes her perfect for handling Tuzolth’s sulks and tantrums, and she will firmly encourage her dragon to try, try again. It doesn’t matter what the situation is: Eonya knows how hardworking her queen can be, and if she puts her mind to it, she can find a way to overcome… well, whatever is currently throwing her into dramatics. Tuzolth will always have the support and approval of her rider, even when she feels like no one else appreciates her. Though it may cause them to butt heads, Eonya won’t hesitate to be blunt with her dragon--particularly when Tuzolth really begins to work herself up over perceived biases.

Would you be open to winning a different color dragon if this concept does not win the gold? Yup! I’d like to change some things about Tuzolth’s personality since some things are gold-specific, but absolutely!

Chromatics For Life!

Name: T’iru (formerly Taniru)
Age: 25
Nameday: 3551.03.04
Sex: Male
Sexual Orientation: I don’t knowwww.
Craft: Tannercraft
Rank: Journyeman
Location: Western Weyr
Physical Description: Powerfully-built and tall, T’iru could be a towering and intimidating presence if he wasn’t so damn smiley all the time. He has dark hair that’s been sun bleached with a reddish hue, and tends to be a bit messy due to his tendency to crop it himself when it gets in his way. His skin is slightly tan due to all the time he spends outside… and it’s not uncommon to see him with quite the sunburn. He has a smattering of freckles as a result.

Personality: A boisterous and friendly individual, it’s rare for T’iru to meet a person he doesn’t like. He’s social by nature and will happily integrate himself with any groups or individuals nearby. He doesn’t know them? No problem! He’s not shy about introducing himself, and loners, beware! T’iru doesn’t understand ‘go away’ vibes and is comfortable in all sorts of situations. He is a bit more understanding of people who might be put off by his appearance, but he promises, he’s a good person! Er, well, he hopes he is…

On top of being a people person, T’iru is honestly just a nice person. Someone he knows is having a bad day? He’ll swing by with a bubbly pie or some other little gift in hopes of cheering them up. Does he see someone struggling with something? You better believe he’ll be right there to help! Even if it’s not something within his power to grant, T’iru will still ask if there’s anything he can do. Seeing people happy makes him happy, so it’s natural for him to pitch in wherever he can.

Unfortunately, T’iru is not the sharpest tool in the shed. He will never be a very smart man, and he is extraordinarily easy to take advantage of. Those who also attempt to convey deeper meanings through wordplay will not have much success with T’iru. Things need to be spoken plainly or else they’ll fly right over his head. He can also be oblivious about people’s real feelings as well. If someone’s secretly upset but insists they’re fine? Well, okay! They must be alright!

T’iru can be an incredibly reckless person, and he rarely thinks of the consequences before diving headfirst into situations. He’s a big, strong guy! He should be able to handle stuff, right? Yeah… not always. Whether it’s a stupid bet, or a chance (in his mind) to prove himself somehow, T’iru often eagerly leaps long before he looks.

Positive Trait List Sociable, Generous, Sweet
Negative Trait List Reckless, Dumb, Oblivious

History: Taniru has lived a fairly uneventful life thus far. He was born in a small Hold on the Western continent, the oldest of three siblings. His mother was a Baker, and his father was a skilled enough Journeyman Tanner to have his own small shop. When Taniiru was of age, he followed his father’s footsteps, able to apply himself enough to the craft to find that he enjoyed it. It was a good but simple life, and had Thread never returned, he likely would have inherited his father’s shop one day.

But Thread did return, and while their little Hold was spared the devastation that some suffered, Pern would never be the same again. When a dragon came riding in Search, Taniru felt compelled to take his chances at the Weyr. It just felt like the right thing to do--if he didn’t succeed and become a dragonrider, he could always come back home and help. His mother and father wished him well, and there were some tearful goodbyes before Taniru was brought back to Western Weyr.

Weyr life was entirely different than anything Taniru ever knew, but he good-naturedly threw himself into his lessons and did his best. He certainly wasn’t the best student, but that was nothing that remedial lessons couldn’t help with.

He stood at every Hatching with the same cheerful confidence he always had, and it wasn’t until this latest clutch that a big, bumbling brown knocked him flat on his back.

Oh! Oh, oops! Did I hurt you, Taniru-mine? Your Karsuketh is sorry! I was just so happy to see you!

Taniru--T’iru, now--could only laugh until tears streamed down his face, holding onto his apologetic, adoring dragon.

Other: Anything else you want to add?

DRAGON - - - -
Name: Karasuketh
Personality From the moment he hatched, Karasuketh has always been an eager, happy dragon. He meets every task head on with an infectious sort of exuberance and the determination to work hard. True of hearts, he’s an extremely loving dragon who wants to give it his all and do his very best for those who are important to him. And really, his entire family is important to him! Whatever it takes, he’s ready to put it all on the line for them--even if it’s to his detriment. He’s a people (or dragon) pleaser at his core, and Karsuketh will put his own feelings on the backburner for the sake of others.

Despite his enthusiastic nature, he is a sensitive creature, and his feelings are easily bruised by careless or cutting comments. This brown would never think to voice his hurt, however. He’s too worried he might hurt the offender’s feelings, because he’s certain they didn’t mean to upset him! Karasuketh would much rather mope in private, and he will lean heavily on his rider for support and comfort during these times.

If one were to claim Karasuketh had favorites, they'd be hard pressed to find the evidence to back it up. First come first serve is the only guarantee to any sort of priority time spent with this dragon, and if he was put on the spot to choose between two events he would start with figuring out how to split himself in half to be at both. When it comes to decision-making, Karsuketh fumbles and falters. What if he makes the wrong choice and upsets someone? And Faranth forbid if he ever had to take sides between his beloved siblings. Karasuketh will work himself into a tizzy trying to make everyone happy, and can end up melting down from the stress.

Eager, Loving, True
Sensitive, Daft, Uncertain
Egg Size: Medium
Adult Size: 41’
Physical Attributes: Big for a brown, he will be awkward with his overall size until he matures into an adult. Bumping into things, tripping over his own limbs--Karasuketh will never be known as a creature of grace. Once his big feet and stockier legs proportion themselves out, he’ll be quite the solid dragon. He has a thick, compact build with shorter head knobs and strong shoulders.
Additional Notes: Prone to crushes, Karasuketh will absolutely panic when it comes to Flights. Should he chase? Would he offend the dragon in question if he did? Would he offend them if he didn’t? Maybe he should just bury his head in the sand and it will all go away!

Why Me: Karasuketh was immediately drawn to T’iru’s kind heart and generous spirit, and knew there was no one else on all of Pern for him. T’iru will be this dragon’s rock when Karasuketh gets his feelings hurt, and no one will ever be able to cheer him up like his rider can!

T’iru’s reckless nature will only be emboldened by Karasuketh’s eagerness, and these two might end up in quite a heap of trouble as Weyrlings. Where Karasuketh might falter and panic with indecision, T’iru will always be there to help calm him down and help walk him through his difficulties. Unfortunately, this big pair of sweethearts may not ever be the brightest of fellows, but they’ll sure try to be the nicest!

All That Glitters Is Bronze!

Name: Kito (formerly Kitori)
Age: 17
Nameday: 3558.09.18
Sex: Male
Sexual Orientation: Bisexual
Craft: Courtesan (Entertainer)
Rank: Apprentice
Location: Rivercrest Hold, now Western Weyr

Physical Description:
A slender built man of 6’2, Kitori takes after his mother in many ways. Lean and willowy, he is a picture of beauty and grace, long-limbed and aware of his every move. He has a love for fabrics that will move with him, capturing the eye, enabling him to steal the show should it be necessary.

With a delicate, lean face, it would be difficult not to call him gaunt if he wasn't so handsome. Bright, sky blue eyes sparkle with the promise of future happiness or mischief. A charming smile may often become a smirk, or a grin- changing to suit his whims or his audience. He is an expressive man, and has no fear of showing it. Long blond hair has been shaved on one side, and dyed violet in part- the man certainly knows how to stand out.

When he can, Kito opts for fancy clothing in shades of violet, lilac and white. Naturally, becoming a Weyrling has put his courtesan life on hold permanently, but he hopes to revive some of his classiness post graduation. Between all of the Threadfighting and the wing drills, you know?

Personality:
A bright and bubbly individual, Kitori is wonderfully gifted when it comes to words and conversing. He possesses magnetic charm, a desire to please that he does not let rule his own personal life, and a deep thoughtfulness for the well-being of others that underlines his interactions with society. He is a real social butterfly, able to change his demeanour to fit the situation as needed, and takes pride in knowing most everybody is satisfied with his presence (can't please everyone, afterall).

Naturally, Kitori has his flaws. His capacity for speech is not mere eloquence- but an ability to chatter endlessly about the most mundane and irrelevant of topics. In fact, Kito has difficulty shutting up. He hasn't quite understood that taking turns in talking is polite, because he could talk your ear off if you're not careful. He's so sociable that sometimes he may appear fake, never really committing to anything or anyone in particular. He may seem airheaded or even silly to some, but Kitori has always enjoyed talking.

His approach to life is whimsical, often lead by his own desires. Whilst he is a thoughtful man when it comes to giving gifts and helping others, he is shallow when it comes to passing judgement: he likes pretty people, and will not give his real heart to the first person who walks by. He is fickle and, at times, self-centred, putting a lot of stock in his reputation as a desirable, vivacious man.

Beneath the courtesan mask he has so finely crafted for himself lies a nomadic spirit; Kitori is restless and yearns for adventure. His lack of commitment to things is tempered by his dutifulness, a trait which sees him discharging his duty with varying amounts of enthusiasm. His family are, of course, his priority: but ever since he Impressed a whole new world has opened up to him, and he has no plans in neglecting or disappointing Auriath.

Positive Trait List Effervescent - Thoughtful - Charming
Negative Trait List Shallow - Garrulous - Fidgety

History:
Kitori was the second born son of Toskarr and Kiriki, Holdless who roamed the western continent as part of a larger group. Kitori spent a great deal of time taking care of his younger sister Toskarra, two Turns his junior, and learning how to use knives and pickpocket alongside his brothers Tosk and Kitokki. He was never as singularly bloodthirsty as his older sibling, nor was he as creative as his younger brother, but much like his sister he had a silver tongue; a supposed inheritance from his mother, or possibly even his aunt Ada. It wasn't an easy life, but the group did what it could.

It came to an end when Kitori was seven. An ambush went wrong. He'd been playing a little makeshift gitar when his frantic mother ushered them onto a cart and sent them, with nothing but the promise of joining them soon, fleeing towards the closest Hold. Tosk was in charge, as the oldest. He had the capacity to take things in stride without ever seeming to miss a beat. Kitori decided his role would be that of ensuring his younger siblings' health and wellbeing. People were returning to camp with such severe injuries that even he, naive as he was as a child, knew what was happening.

Destination: Rivercrest Hold. Kitori had never seen anything so fancy before. The Hold itself seemed to sparkle. They arrived faster than the news of the failed ambush, which trickled in rumours months afterwards. Nobody gave newly arrived kids much thought in Rivercrest, so Kitori experienced a new sense of freedom he had never had in the cave-base of the Holdless. At first, Tosk instructed them to steal what they needed to survive. Kitori orchestrated a play with his sister, Skarra- the actor within revelling at its first opportunity to perform. Their sweetly soft, melancholic expressions earned them some sympathy, rewarding them with food, board, and the occasional tip of folks looking to hire for honest work.

They eventually had enough for a room, and Tosk took up work as a lookout for a group Kito knew to be smugglers. That wasn't Kito's preferred line of work, and instead he approached a Madam about becoming a dancer or a singer for some of her performances- after all, who wouldn't wanna have such a sweet, proactive kid? She agreed to show him the ropes, though he didn't officially apprentice to the Courtesans until he was 12. There was a lot of dogsbody work involved. As he matured from boy to man, he started gaining some renown as an entertainer, and his Madam considered his future more seriously. Kitori expressed interest in visiting different holds and offering companionship to those who might desire it, but deep down he was reluctant to leave his family. He knew he earned enough to help keep a roof over their heads, but he also worried that they would get into trouble if they did not all stick together. After all, there had been no reports of surviving Holdless all those Turns ago… This was all the family he had left.

Kitori eventually decided to stay, but then Tosk returned home from work one day with an announcement. He had been Searched, and was considering accepting the call. Thread had rained destruction down, and though the siblings were not fond of dragonriders due to the supposed involvement of one during the failed ambush, they knew only dragonriders could protect Pern.

It was Toskarra who encouraged the eldest to go. She had been training as a Harper for some Turns, and was becoming an ambitious individual all her own. Kitori rather suspected that she felt stifled with the overprotective Tosk around. Soon after his departure, a poorly written, barely legible letter arrived stating that Tosk had found their aunt Ada, and that he had also Impressed (to a bronze, of all things)!

Kitori was happy for his brother, but the desire to see the world was growing, making him restless. When Search came again, he found himself staring at the dragon, lost in thought. It was only when the rider approached him about joining the ranks of candidates that Kitori could finally justify his escape.

Candidacy was much different to what he expected, and how he had lived his life so far. The physical side of training was arduous (how come Tosk had never mentioned that in his infrequent letters?). But as Esurienth and Phylideth's clutch hardened, Kitori came to find he enjoyed weyrlife. He did his best to keep his presence a secret from his sibling, whom he occasionally spied from afar, but set about trying to find his aunt.

In due time, Esurienth and Phylideth's clutch hatched. The dragonets were gorgeous, and so full of personality! He marvelled at each arrival, and winced at the bloodyness of it all.

But none are more handsome or spectacular than me, right? Your Auriath?

"Auriath?" Kito puzzled aloud, wondering how the name had slipped into his mind.

Shining rainbow eyes and a gleaming bronze hide sidled closer, peering up at him intently.

Of course. I am your Auriath, and you are my Kito. I couldn't have chosen any other, for I needed one resplendent inside and out.

"Well, thank you." He laid a hand in the dragon's head, a soft and loving smile spreading across his face. Love suffused him, and a wholeness he had never known made him feel full to bursting. He had always been so self-reliant, so… Ready to stand alone. Do his own thing. But now he didn't need to. "I thought the robes were a little drab without the purple sash belt. I'm glad you noticed and appreciated it." Now he had the perfect bondmate- his other half.

DRAGON - - - -

Name: Auriath

Personality:
A passionate soul lives within this shiny creature, fuelled by a desire for love and companionship. He may be particular- some even call him eccentric- due to his fussy, exacting ways, but Auriath means well: he is a charming boy who wants nothing but the best for the world (so long as he gets some of it too, of course).

To those he treasures as friends, family, or even lovers, he will always give them his full attention and as much time as he can spare. He is attentive as a brother and mate, and as a father he would be doting (much like his own). Singular loyalty, if asked, would be given, but Auriath's natural instincts are to share his love, and he may accidentally break hearts in the process. He will take on 'political' causes others find important, but when boredom strikes will abandon them at the first given chance. He is a little flighty in that regard.

He is normally a kind dragon with very little ill-will, but he does enjoy playful teasing and banter. Sometimes he is unaware of crossing lines, and upon discovering that he's upset a loved one, will take it upon himself to bring them gifts and tributes of peace to make amends. He likes to sit in the middle of an argument and antagonise both parties for his own amusement, siding first with one party, then the other- not out of cruelty, but because it is silly to argue, don't you realise that? The sooner they know how stupid they're being, the better.

Auriath is a warm dragon with plenty to offer the world, but with his own peculiarities and eccentricities- especially when it comes to bathing, washing and feeding (it needs to be done just so, or how will he remain resplendent). He will be particular about the females he chases (and the males he might allow to catch him): they must stand out in their own special way. Common folk, stand aside please.

Positive Trait List Ardent - Attentive - Amiable
Negative Trait List Teaser - Devil's advocate - Fussy

Egg Size: Small

Adult Size: 36'

Physical Attributes:
A handsome dragon by draconic standards, Auriath might lean towards the smaller size of the bronze scale, but he is nonetheless quite a sight to behold. Beautiful proportions and a mind set to agile flying make him a wonder in the sky. His form is graceful and lithe, and he moves with measured purpose. His snout is slightly longer than normal, and more tapered, softening his overall expression.

Additional Notes:
His flame tends towards short and accurate bursts, but he sometimes gets carried away and will fire wide. He is a quick and agile flier, but suffers in the endurance department in comparison to other bronzes. Charming, he will pursue dragons who stand out to him in special ways.

Why Me:
Kitori and Auriath are very similar at heart: both fussy, and secretly a little bit vain and snobby, put on Pern to capture attention with their mere existence. They'll be as thick as thieves in their early Weyrling days, encouraging each other to greater standards and heights.

But Kitori will quickly realise that sometimes, Auriath is unkind, especially towards his family… and that's not okay. Kito will be forced to accept a degree of responsibility, maturing in the process, as he clamps down on Auriath's more teasing ways and shows him the importance of loving and devoting one's self to one's family, as he has with his own.

In turn, Auriath will give Kito a reason to commit to things. He will remind the young man that it's okay to have faith in the beliefs of others, and it's okay to love them genuinely and truly. Auriath's ardent passion for life and its affairs will slowly open Kito's eyes to what he's missed out on by remaining privately aloof and unfocused.

They will grow to become more wholesome people in the long run, as long as their ego doesn't get the better of them.

Name: Cyara
Age:24
Nameday:3552.05.01
Sex: Female
Sexual Orientation: Heterosexual
Craft: baking
Rank: Candidate
Location: Western Weyr
Physical Description: a little on the plump side this deep blue eyed raven haired young woman stands at an unassuming 5’2. She is curvy, but fit.
Personality: Cyara is the type of person who always seems to be the “mother” of the group. She takes genuine pleasure in helping and caring for others, sometimes to the point that she neglects herself- though she is learning that one cannot give from an empty vessel. She is content with her lot in life, the middle child of a family of 5 kids. She knows that one must work hard to pull their own weight and be useful- and she certainly isn’t afraid of hard work.

In a crowd she tends to be the soft spoken type- letting her more charming and gregarious friends take point while she watches from the sidelines. Yet- should you harm one that she considers “hers”- you meet and entirely different side of Cyara. She will come down just as fierce as any fighting where on whomever dare do such a thing.

She had a worry streak in her that often gets her into trouble. Prone to jump in too soon she pushes some people away who find her overbearing care cloying. Which is quite hard on Cyara as she always seeks to make everyone happy- going quite out of her way to do so. One of the reasons she loves to bake- to see others getting a need fulfilled. This hardship is compounded by the fact that she is hyper aware of the feelings of others. She knows she can come off to strong- and thus is constantly trying to check herself mentally, being her own worst critic when it comes to how to treat someone.
Positive Trait List Hard-working Empathetic, Motherly.
Negative Trait List Anxious, People pleaser, Possesive.
History: A weyr brat from Western she chose to excercise her right to stand as a candidate. To her the thought of fighting thread was the ultimate gesture of protection and love for those she holds dear. Being the middle child of such a large brood, she got very used to seeing to things for herself, and often a younger sibling or two. She always felt she didn’t get her share of attention from her parents, her father being an animal handler and often out among his animals, and her mother being working as a baker for the kitchens.

It was tough being in the middle, not feeling like she quite belonged and other times like she was coralled in by her siblings. Typical troubles for a kid growing up with so many siblings to stand out against. Her desire to stand cane as quite a shock to her family. It seemed they simply assumed she’d always be there to take care of things- take over for her mother in the household and then once the youngest was grown move on to helping bake. They were proud of her ultimately- simply surprised that Cyara would chose the path of a Rider.
Other:

DRAGON - - - -
Name: Rielath
Personality A gold queen who knows very well just how important she is and what it means to rule as such. She holds herself to quite high standards and thinks it is only right that others do so as well. Prone to being critical and judgemental of others can be off putting to people and dragons alike. But Riealths motto is if one can not pull their weight they must simply get out of the way and allow someone who can to do it. These feelings stem from the amount of pressure she puts on herself to be a responsible and competent queen. She doesn’t mean to be blunt and blatantly rude- she just speaks her mind.
Egg Size:Medium
Adult Size: On the small side for a gold
Physical Attributes: Small and lithe she is not built for strength but for speed. She often finds herself needing to look up to other dragons- vexingly so. She has a shorter snout, which others are prone to coo over and call her cute, much to Rielaths dismay.
Additional Notes: Due to her smaller size she has a penchant for likening to perch in higher places.
Why Me: During the hatching Rielath was drawn to the combination of Cyaras people- pleasing nature as something she simply didn’t understand in concjunction with the fierce possessiveness she displayed of her friends. That she stepped up and in front without hesitation to protect another- and yet when Rielath came to inspect her, Cyara stepped back automatically assuming the gold queen must be searching for the female candidate to her right. Rielath wants to help Cyara see more of her own value- and Cyaras empathetic nature often helps smooth the blunt side of Rielath. Together they form a formidable team.

Would you be open to winning a different color dragon if this concept does not win the gold? Yes

This was such a hard contest to judge! First and foremost, I'd like to thank everyone for entering. The fact that you guys put all this effort into these characters does my heart good. This shop doesn't exist without our players and participation, so thank you, thank you, thank you.

For those who don't win please don't take it personally! It has nothing to do with writing ability, or whether or not the entry was "good enough". There were a lot of factors into deciding who won what--and while we're not giving away the reason why x won over y, we hope you trust that we have plans and hopes for all of you.

If your characters aren't picked, remember, you can always turn them into future quests, tweak their histories to slap them on pre-existing but otherwise unhomed art, or (if you do happen to have an unhomed dragon of the right color) probably could try to adopt your way in to the clutch. :3 There will be some adoptables opening up! You can also turn the riders into Candidates for Khamaith's upcoming clutch, or otherwise reuse them for different things.

We went back and forth and back and forth and ... honestly wish we could just give everyone everything. But there will be future Hatchings--both PC and NPC, and many more browns, bronzes, golds, and other colors, to give away.

Ultimately, we would like to welcome the following new characters into the clutch!

Sorentia of gold Riamsoth

Samuel Carlin
G'rus of bronze Ardupath

Quote:

Also, before anyone starts grousing, we are aware that there was a physical description of the rider left blank in Faesinger's profile. We realized some might be very upset that a profile won that missed a rider's physical description--however, this isn't the first time we've forgiven individuals for human error, forgotten pieces of a profile during a contest or giveaway, or allowed folks to enter even after missing cutoffs or deadlines. What was most important in this contest was the personalities of both rider and dragon, and which seemed like the best fit--both for the NPC clutch in question, and the duo together.

We've got plans for all of you, remember, so don't think that not winning means you'll never walk away with a golden, bronze, or chromatic prize. We just need time to offer more opportunities!

Please trust us that we keep in mind a ton of factors, and know things some of you don't. So please, have faith that nothing was done against anyone, or out of favoritism, and we hope you all try out for future NPC giveaways!
