Both L'zant and Bhavarath were dotted with burns and small scores as they landed, stiffly, in the bowl again. L'zant slid free of his straps with only a little wince, and turned his blue over to the healers for inspection. Something about his back...

As they worked, L'zant promised, The moment they clear us -- if they clear us -- we'll go back. In the meantime, do as they tell you.

Bhavaranth agreed, the yellow streaks in his eyes fading somewhat, but he still wondered: Is Samodith looking?

I don't know, L'zant answered patiently, while the healers continued to push and test Bhavaranth's sturdiness. Doees it really matter? I'd rather watch you.

Of course it matters! the blue complained with a plaintive wheeze that made the healers trade a concerned look. She has to think I'm strong and brave. I promised!

L'zant rubbed his forehead, winced, and knuckled at an eye instead.

I'm sure she thinks you're very brave, L'zant allowed. You went and fought Thread. You did that very well. Sometimes even the fighters get hurt.

Bhavaranth considered that while the healers conferred, looking still somewhat concerned. I suppose that is true, the blue answered. [color="cadetblue]I will invite her to count my scars.

Bhavaranth was, for the moment, feeling almost himself. The healers, however, came to express their concern about letting him rejoin the Wing. Better, they thought, that he stay and rest and not overtax any more of his injuries. With a grim nod, L'zant agreed.

Then said, I doubt she wants to do that. She might be willing to entertain your company again, but let's not make her do gruesome things like inspect your wounds, hm?

this time it was the blue who heaved a sigh. But: You might be right. Thank you for looking out for me.

A little smile touched L'zant's lips. He was filthy, scored and feeling the onset of aches that would be worse in the morning, but nothing would ever change the way he felt about his dragon. Not truly. Always and forever, you and me.

The healers worked quickly on Elzebuth despite his many wounds, and it wasn't long at all until they were given the okay to return to the fight. G'ran knew Elzebuth would have been sorely put out if he'd been unable to finish, but as far as he was concerned, his dragon's health came first. With a grunt of effort, the tired dragon leapt into the air, and they vanished Between.

To say K'lar was silently frantic would be an understatement. He stayed out of the way, holding Mnereth's snout even as the healer began to gruffly work on the dragon first. It was going to take time, was all the man said, and the rider resisted the urge to yank his hair out.

Once the man was satisfied that Mnereth was stable, it was K'lar's turn to be poked, prodded, and treated. His scores were minor by comparison, but that didn't mean they could just be ignored!

K'lar tried and failed to stifle a yelp as fingers poked at a particularly painful spot on his back. He was already horrified that he'd had to remove his leathers and shirt, wildly self-conscious as always, but really! This just felt like rubbing salt in the wound...

Mnereth wasn't going to be able to fly for the rest of the Fall, the healer finally told him bluntly, and K'lar felt the blood drain from his face. Mnereth stirred at once at the feel of the man's distress, and K'lar was soon stroking his nose once more. "I'm sorry," He barely breathed, feeling his eyes beginning to sting and burn. "I'm so sorry." Sorry that Mnereth had gotten so hurt, that he hadn't been able to stop it.

The dragon merely exhaled a warm breath against him, tenderly wrapping the man in his love and trust. It wasn't K'lar's fault. They'd both fought hard.

Zyamel was amazed at how many dragons and riders were in the Bowl. Venandith landed, and once again, the healers immediately looked the brown dragon over. He was lathered with numbwee and redwort, and they patched him up quickly.

In fact, much to Zyamel's surprise, he was cleared to return to the Wing in no time at all. "Come on, let's go!" The dragon pushed himself from the ground, and with a few great sweeps of his wings, was flying high over their mountain home.

"We can do this," Zyamel encouraged. They would see Thread through to the very end and would not leave their wingmates hanging!
